Lou Vales……….then answer to your 10:39pm posting is: Pascual Perez
Wright DL’d. I think that’s a good move by the Mets.
Back to the Braves…
August 16th, 200910:40 pm
Don’t hit Howard just don’t pitch to him,let him chase or walk.
Ugh…”hip-hip Jorge” commercial
August 16th, 200910:41 pm
Two best hitters just made three outs on two pitches. Nice.
First ball swigning…AGAIN!
Those Howard numbers are unreal.
More first-pitch swinging… come the heck on!
I will never understand why some of you get so butt hurt over a percieved lack of respect for the braves from ESPN, seriously, what difference does it make, will that help them win a game or make the playoffs?
What the devil was that?
Come on, BMac!
Mac loves to copy chipper two pitches two outs last two hitters for happ.
Rob from SC
keep hacking boys
i guess this going to be one of those games…again!
Skip & Pete Fan
August 16th, 200910:42 pm
It’s because everyone’s sick of their love affair with the Bosox & Yanks!
Escobar looks AWFUL.
Braves Fan in SC
Yunel is slumping hard.
WHY do Major League hitters swing at the high heat? Clearly you’re going to miss more times than not, why do it?
Why is he swinging at that pitch?
These guys are looking quite impatient tonight.
Cy Happ Looking good despite a few atom balls…
That damn Feliz has killed us with his defense!
I dont mind first-pitch swinging at all. Sometimes, many times (because the pitcher is trying to get ahead) it’s the best pitch you’ll see.
I hate, HATE, when they take weak, first-pitch hacks like Chip and B-Mac just did. If you’re that fooled by the pitch, that off-balance, hold up. You still got two more strikes to work with.
August 16th, 200910:43 pm
Come on matt…………tie this game.
YESSSSSSSSSS MATTTTYYYYY DIAZ
Thank you Diaz!!!!
Matty D goes deeep
There We Go Matty-D!!!!
WAHOOWAH!!!! A “wallscraper” by Diaz to tie it up!
The Bird and Indian
Oh Matty D. Good call Doc.
Mattyyyyyyy! I guess I’ll stay awake for a few mo’ innings.
That a boy Mattie!
Steve from OH
wow- didn’t really expect that from MattE
Matt shows bunt then drives it out
Yay! Too bad nobody was on base…
i love escobar, but man was he the only person in the stadium that did not know there was a fastball above his head coming right there?
Ata boy Matty, shut up who knew
He’s gonna keep getting Yuni there till next week
Chipper and Escobar need to come up big now and quit looking awful
August 16th, 200910:44 pm
That a boy Matty D.
Diaz is wearing out right field when it comes to hitting homers. When Francoeur went to right field, if he got a hit, it was one of those rinky dink hits. Matt Diaz has been hitting homers and doubles to right since the trade.
Triple Diaz there. Didn’t mean to but I like it!
Jason Heyward who?
August 16th, 200910:45 pm
Remind me to send you 12 champagne bottles………whats your favorite?
Yunel not having a good night, doesn’t usually chase those high fastballs. Thats whats makes him good. He has a good eye but everybody has a bad game once in a while.
LaRoche making Happ work…finally..somebody.
August 16th, 200910:46 pm
Back to back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the reason is I don’t like hearing negative recaps and minimal coverage if I wasn’t able to see the game. And you don’t have many others choices.
ATTABOY MATTY BOY !!!!!!!!!111
In response to “WHY do Major League hitters swing at the high heat? Clearly you’re going to miss more times than not, why do it?”
The Ball Looks so much better seeing it at eye level…Its hard to resist within a fraction of a second
Thats why pitchers are told throw high heat when hitters are behind in the count
uf just missed it!
August 16th, 200910:47 pm
Yeah DOB you can quit reminding us how good Howard is against the Braves anytime you want.
Joba was pretty chunky as a kid
Yeah, I know you wanna throw the high heat if you’re ahead in the count. It’s just frustrating when they swing at it if they’re even or ahead in the count.
August 16th, 200910:48 pm

Joba was pretty chunky as a kid
He’s a Hutt!!
We will get some more after Church walks to lead off the 5th.
Not just Major league hitters, high heat gets chased at every level
Why Was I thinking the same thing on that homer by Matty-D?
August 16th, 200910:49 pm
Don’t worry boys, end of the month and you’ll be in Philly for a weekend series where those warning track shots should be enough for homeruns. Should bold well for our offense in their park, now our pitchers on the other hand…
Tomahawkin The Ball Looks so much better seeing it at eye level…Its hard to resist within a fraction of a second”
you said that like you played a few games, good post
August 16th, 200910:50 pm
Nova Scotia Steve
Big Inning here…have to hold em down..
I say this every time we play the Phillies…DAMN they have an excellent line-up
Ibanez owns Vasquez in his career….not so far tonight however.
Diaz is very under-appreaciated. He belongs in the big leagues, there is no doubt about that imo.
August 16th, 200910:51 pm
anyone else see that girl get git in the head with th eball
Diaz is very under-appreaciated
Don’t act like Howards ball hasn’t landed yet.
He JUST cleared the wall…same as Diaz
August 16th, 200910:52 pm
True dat groundfog
Chop It Up All-Stars
August 16th, 200910:53 pm
This game is much more enjoyable with the mute button on.
Ibanez is 0-for-2 with two strikeouts tonight, after coming in 7-for-19 with four homers off Vazquez.
Eh. That would’ve been nice to turn two there. Attack the ball Omar.
August 16th, 200910:55 pm
Groundfog: This is Diaz’s fourth consecutive season in the big leagues, so I think the Braves agree with you.
August 16th, 200910:56 pm
the phils scored like 15 runs in pedro’s start and they’re talking like he pitched a gem…..he gave up 3 runs in 5 innings….thats like a 6.0 era
Paul: You never fail to mention Francoeur.
August 16th, 200910:57 pm
Nova Scotia Steve
Hey, that was a lucky shot by Diaz, didn’t you hear, he doesn’t do that to much.
In all seriousness i’m glad they pronounced his name right. I’m just waiting for them to figure out JJ is not a bottle of lotion.
Anybody read Bowman’s comments regarding Smoltz
August 16th, 200910:58 pm
DOB thanks for the exclamation point. You know how the fans,uh, bloggers are lol.
I had to tv on mute when Diaz hit the homer. You mean they actually said Di-az instead of Dee-az? Shocking.
August 16th, 200910:59 pm
These 3 Stooges act like they’re on meth or something…
‘But wh–’, ‘yeah, but Joe’, ‘no no no, I’m right and yo…’, ‘IT WAS A WALL SCRAPER!!’ ‘Ok,ok. But how about the Phillies and their offense?’ I know but Joe, what about Lee and what he brings to the Phi…’, ‘I like Pedro!’
Vazquez doing it again…guy has been so awesome for us. can’t really be put it into words.
August 16th, 200911:00 pm
DOB Just getting back back after a night of movin and shakin. My earlier remarks were not meant to cornfuse you, but to point out that tonight’s game will more than likely end after midnight, thus having the Braves playing in two games on Monday.
-Mention the Yanks, check
-Mention the Sox, check
-Mention the Mets, check
-Mention the Dodgers, check
-Mention the Angels, coming soon
-Do everything but call a good game, check
August 16th, 200911:01 pm
wild card is a division now….?
August 16th, 200911:03 pm
My man, Omar.
Keep gettin on base leadoff man. Make em throw some pitches.
August 16th, 200911:04 pm
Lets go GA! Work the 2 out magic! cmon!
Diaz’s homer made him 11-for-18 with three homers and seven RBI in seven games vs. Phillies this season, and 17-for-35 with 12 RBI in his past 13 games against them. He has a .353 career average and 21 RBI in 36 games (91 at-bats) against the Phillies, with nearly a .600 slugging percentage.
Okee Joe Morgan, what about Lidge’s boo boo? Utley’s miscue is iffy, maybe he gets it, maybe not.
“wild card is a division now….?”
Tightest division in the league.
