KK probably won’t get a win…the Braves showing one more time (about 20-25 times total this season) that Wins for starting pitcher are so over-rated and do not at all tell the story on how a pitcher has performed.
Yikes! The threat of Greg Norton has pushed Joe Torre to make a pitching change. I’d love it if Norton could get a heaping helping of redemption by parking one in the cheap seats.
Bobby’s enamored with the lefty/righty matchup regardless of what the stats read for any particular player. Never mind that Kelly is no where near the Mendoza line against righties. That ain’t holding Bobby back.
My Gripe about KK has rarely been about HIM. It’s been about our lack of need for him, and overpaying for him to end up being the 5th starter.
Even in the midst of my KK rants, I’ve always stated that while “in the game” he gives us good inning most of the time.
It’s just like the Vazquez griping early in the year.
It has more to do with us having so much money tied up in the rotation, and zero offense to go with it. It’s amusing that everybody wants to have pity for KK because the offense scores no runs for him (especially while he’s actually in the games). But ironically, it’s the signing of KK that hindered Wren from adding a bigger bat, either via trade or free agency.
It’s not KK’s fault that Wren spent the money that should have been spent on a bat on him. So, to feel sorry for KK is fine.
A double by Norton would be nice. Kelly has speed.
The Dodger bullpen is getting a lot of work in as well. If the Braves can steal this one tonight, then with Javier pitching tomorrow, the Braves should have the edge.
Then with the off day on Monday and Thursday, if the Braves can get good starting pitching from Hanson and Lowe against the Nationals, then hopefully our bullpen will be rested for the Phillies series next weekend.
i’m not the biggest greg norton fan in the world, but I bet he’s a better hitter than anybody that posts on message boards who is not a professional baseball player
