Here is the AB of the game IMO….he gets him…we live for another day…if not…oy. Good start 0-1 count.
The Bird and Indian
4 people have called ballgame when the score is 0-0. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
wow, I wish KK could pitch like this all the time. He’s been awesome tonight.
or a FOOL.
Rob from SC
I am glad that Hanson will not come in. Scared me to pieces.
August 9th, 200912:24 am
KK likes the big moment.
Rob…”Would have spiked Esco bad…?? “….I’ll give ya a “might have gotten spiked’…but …even then…if Kemp MIGHT spike Ross tryin’ to score at home…should Ross just get outta the way and let the ball go to the backstop…I think not…
Kenshin Kawakami pitching on FUMES folks.
He’s gutting this out.
Our brilliant manager won’t take him out, inspite of obvious signs of fatigue.
Can’t nibble, Loretta will not chase
I meant to say in my last posting that since KK had struck out Asmus twice tonight that Bobby was smart to leave him in. So far so good.
John: Ross also has tons of gear on for that reason.
“Is Cox watching the same game.”
Cox isn’t watching the game. He’s posting on the MIB/Braves blog, giving marital advise under the moniker “Paul Lentz”.
I’ve got a very bad feeling about this…He could walk in a run right here. Control is leaving him.
Very nervous…. 2-1 count.
Paul Lentz lives in San Francisco….that explains a lot.

one more strike KK.. need this
His arm and entire upper body was exposed. Human nature to get out of the way.
C’mon. KK shut the haters up!!
Whew….close one…. 2-2. Come on KK!!! I have faith in you!
WOW! props to KK
Wow, he got out of it. Whew!
Brilliant work by K.K.
My god somebody buy that man another ferrari!
Wow, great job by Kawakami.
There we GOOOO!!
WOW!!!!!! screw all you “ballgame” turds
He was showin’ some emotion too!!!!!!!!!
Kawakami has shown some BIG TIME HEART tonight.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. BIG TIME STRIKEOUT.
can’t bash Kawakami. He showed tremendous heart that inning. Love the emotion
Sweeeeeeeeet. Awesome job KK – great game.
F YEAH!!! NEW RESPECT!!
way to go KK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don’t agree with the decision to leave him in, but at least it worked. Wow.
Chop It Up All-Stars
August 9th, 200912:26 am
KK! I told you I felt good about it. He has guts out there. He’s not scared of anything. I think he would make a good post season pitcher.
wow. wow. wow.
way to dig deep. Guy’s a big game pitcher.
now, break out the bats offense!!!
And can we discuss Ross showing his ass on that steal? Was he really yelling at Escobar? Wow.
Now maybe Chipper Jones can pinch hit
Kawakami earned his pay tonight folks! Dude can pitch.
If I know anything it’s that our Braves are winning this damn game tonight.
If anyone can read lips… man Ross had some potty mouth language for Escobar.
Go Kenshin Kawa-Kickass! Thats his new nickname.
August 9th, 200912:27 am
I guess the appropriate phrase for KK would be “Bow Wow!”
Fantastic job by Kawakami to get out of that mess. I truly hope that Bobby doesn’t run him out there in the eighth, since he surely has used up all his gas and the can of starter fluid in the glovebox.
Hope Ross mans up for that terrible throw that started the mess. No way was that Escobar’s fault.
Sooo… do we still have to call him ”Kawakrappy”???
I’ll be…Kenshin Kawakami GUTTING it out big time.
What an effort tonight from the Japanese import.
Come on Offense, Score a fraking run now that Kershaw is out of there. You’ve gotta believe whoever they throw out there won’t be a riddle like Clayton was for this offensive challanged Braves lineup.
AWESOME JOB KK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now we need to get him a W now that Kershaw is out.
Just earned his tomahawk right there. Great pitching and bobby showing confidence by neccesity.
They are throwing Escobar under the bus on MLB channel
jayson hayward was just called up by the braves
Braves better get KK a win!
Yeah KK! That was a gutsy performance given how many pitches he has thrown. He probably didn’t have much left in the tank.
all is well that ends well BC might be saving pitchers with the 12-inning game last night.
way to go KK !!!! WOOOOOOOO Great job buddy !!!
KK was a man on a mission tonight he has earned my respect wow i cant believe how well he pitched this man better be rewarded with a big W.
WOW K.K UNREALLLL … NOW LETS GET HIM SOME RUNSSSSS…. HE GAVE U 7 FANTASTIC INNINGGSSS.. SCORE HIM SOME RUNS.. HE DESERVES A WIN NOW.. LETS GOO … U HAVE KERSHAW OUT OF THE GAME ..
Some folks were talking about not having Prado bunt in the first inning. Wouldn’t that run (if they could have scored it) be big right now?
wow. well done, KK.
August 9th, 200912:28 am
You right, why does Ross no get mad at himself for that horrible throw.
raise your hand if you ever dissed KK?
I didnt see that exchange between Ross and Escy…was it during the meeting on the mound?
And that’s why Bobby Cox knows his team better than all of us!!!
By the way, all things considered, I love the lineup they have out there tonight. Church has been hot and Ross gets the oppourtunity against a lefty. Good scenario, just hasn’t worked…SO FAR!
125 pitches for K.K., most by a Braves starter this season
Nobody likes a smart ass
jayson heyward called up !!!!!
Let’s get this man a run so he can win this game!!
WOW … and I love the emotion by KK coming off the mound. Seen a heck of a lotta guts and grit from this bunch the past two nights.
Now get a run against the L.A. bullpen and let’s steal this one.
Gotta give KK credit. Nice job. He had to stay in. Bullpen needs the rest. Of course if this thing goes to extra innings, it will be a wasted effort to save the pen.
But after last night’s 12 inning affair (had to use that word, with the Paul Lentz marital lecture being ongoing on the ole’ blog), it’s nice to see KK gut it out, and Bobby stick with him.
This is one game, that I wouldn’t have ragged on him for leaving him in too long. Pen needs a rest. Fortunately, for the Braves, us fans, Bobby and KK…. he got out of it unscathed.
(Lady GaGa’s Poker Face in the background – visions of DOB cringing come to mind)
And he’s done for the season no doubt after 125 pitches.
Kidding. KK has a capacity to prove us all wrong at times.
Let’s go Adam!
“Kershaw putting together brilliant start in LA ” – MLB.com
Ugh! What the hell? Braves have played better than them the entire series!
I told you guys that I liked Bobby leaving Kawakami in to get out of this mess. Runner on third, no outs. Bases loaded, 1 out. Pitching on fumes and Kawakami pulls a Houdini.
Big time performance tonight.
However, if the Braves cant score a run here in the 8th, then many of you will point out that Kawakami is still 5-9 on the season. No run support for Kawakami this season.
BTW, it would be nice if Bobby pinch hit his A list starters into the game at this point. The Braves could win this one if they had some hitting in the line-up.
Not sayin’ it’s NOT human nature to get outta the way….but…if the Dodgers scored there… there’s not a single Braves player that would not have been po’d at Esco for that “effort”…and if you’re bein’ serious …and don’t know that….well…I just can’t help you…
August 9th, 200912:29 am
KK had perfect pitch sequences too….nothing better than a high inside fastball after so many curveballs….set Loretta up big time.
Eric In Albany N.Y.
I know we have not yet won but i told you guys this game was not a lock for LA!
Keep playing the game boys!
Kenshin Has Kicked A**!
RHR – that P’d me off big time. I sincerely hope he was yelling at himself and not Escobar. There was no need for it.
I was thinking the same thing
No Joe, he was yelling across the infield at someone…I assume it was Yunel.
Nate the GR8
Rob chipper is not testing his oblique til tuesday he is not pinch hitting dream on sister
Well, can’t blame KK for tonight’s game no matter what happens. 7 scoreless innings. Now if we can get that 7 innings on regular basis from him without him throwing 120 plus pitches…that’ll be the bonus we’ve been looking for!
August 9th, 200912:30 am
guess they’re not going to get him a win ….
And that’s why Bobby Cox knows his team better than all of us!!!
umm, I hate to be a wet blanket, but that’s about the 2nd time that’s worked out of 38234729387 times this season.
WE CANT HIT!!
Does everyone in the Dodges pen throw 97 MPH??
I truly have never complained about him actually. I think he might be the best number 5 pitcher in the bigs. I want to see the 4 people post again that said ballgame already.
Esco came up lame on that throw. If I was Ross I’d pulled a Jake Taylor on him and told him if he ever tanked a play like that again I’d cut off his n*ts and stick ‘em down his f*#kin throat.
When are we going to see another one of those patented David Ross solo shots?
Not tonight I guess.
the real Andy
bobby sure proved me wrong leaving in kawakami there. thought it was a big mistake. well done KK!!
watch out….kelly’s real streaky
kj first lefty on the bench? no nate?
Do you think Chipper would have gone for that, I don’t
August 9th, 200912:31 am
man, the dodgers have a lot of flamethrowers in their pen! geez
