Oh, whaddya know? I thought maybe a night would pass where a blogger wouldn’t gripe about ESPN dissing the Braves.
WHO GIVES A FLYING PUCK?
You obviously already know that KK has a 3 hit shutout going, so why are you checking out the hated, evil ESPN anyhow? Glutton for punishment?
The Dodgers have the best record in the NL. Fans around the country care about them. They’re news. They’re a “hot topic”.
None of the above applies to the Braves. When it all did (in the 90’s) ESPN gave the Braves PLENTY of coverage.
But, since you’re all for all MLB teams getting equal rights, and props from the sports coverage, I’m sure you were on a blog complaining that nobody was giving the Royals and Devil Rays props, right?
Didn’t think so.
Chipper would have made that.
Rob from SC
Before Kawakami explodes, I just want to say that he did a great job either way.
Nope…I’m not touching that.
The Bird and Indian
Paul Lentz: I never said anything. I’m just not going to get involved.
I think KK should be moved to the bullpen!
If not Kawakami then who
August 9th, 200912:13 am
Something tells me choice isn’t the only reason Lentz will never marry…
Need a DP here from KK.
I vote “no” on KK to pen. Wow….
That’ll be the game.
Lentz: “I certainly don’t tell women that their place is in the kitchen”
How about you just straight up call us monogamists sexists, rather than imply it?
Ross ain’t happy with that “effort”…
McCann would’ve made that
Terrible throw by Ross. A clean throw and Kemp is out easy.
August 9th, 200912:14 am
Joe? Really? How was Yunel to blame?
WTF, messed up play. we had the runner by a mile.
Steve from OH
you need to rent the movie.
Bah! Who needs the movie when you’ve got Suetonius?
On a sidenote, I was unaware that there was a movie…
hope that’s not how we lose this game
Pete………living in San Fran is really harsh. I mean, I hate having so many different things to choose from when it comes to recreational activities. I hate having the freedom to not be bound by religion. I hate the fact that there are more straight females out here than straight males. I hate the fact that we dont have winters here. I hate the fact that the government doesnt interfere in our personal lives.
You got me there. Living in the Bay Area is really terrible. I feel like a prisoner, having choices.

Ross ain’t happy with that “effort”…
Link Report this comment
I am not happy with ROss’s throw
Ross unhappy… may have some words with Escobar later on, and even if he doesn’t understand English, pretty sure Esco’s gonna get the gist of what he’s saying.
dang, Ross is pissed
August 9th, 200912:15 am
Yunel would have lost a arm there
Perfect damage control so far.
I’d squeeze right here..
August 9th, 200912:16 am
KK strikes out “O-Dawg” then leaves.
I prefer hudson in the pen cause if that sinker is working you essentially have two moylan’s out there. plus, KK is more of a flyball pitcher i would say, not really ideal for coming in late into games. Plus, i like o’flaherty, huddy, moylan, gonzo, soriano, medlen, logan/caryle. Finally, KK’s problem is the offense/defense not his pitching
Escobar should have prevented the runner going to 3rd, even if it meant he didn’t get the runner tagged out
was a pretty crappy throw…
If Escobar goes on over and gets that ball, as you say, Joe, then Escobar gets knocked the eff out and we don’t have our best hitter and SS in the game for a while. But yes, by all means, he should’ve just tackled the runner face first and caught that bad throw. Who cares if it puts him on the DL!
What happened on the steal of second, the radio guys butchere it, and are not sure themselves.
That’s 3 people tonight that have called ballgame when it’s 0-0.
pitching around him there…
August 9th, 200912:17 am
double play time
Ok, KK gets a DP!
Kemp would have killed Escobar if he tried to get that ball.
Big spot right here. The way the Braves’ offense are performing, 1 run for the Dodgers might be enough to win.
Don’t the Braves lead the league in shutout losses?
112 pitches for Kawakami
Homer: You’re by yourself.
yeah, DOB … if/when Huddy returns, somebody’s gonna have to be bumped … if not KK, who? Hanson?
Ross needs to chill – it’s not like the throw was perfect. And, don’t even get me started on Joe Simpson – here we go again with the Esco bashing.
Rob….sometimes throws are “off” ….”effort” should NEVER be “off”
August 9th, 200912:18 am
Simpson hates Escobar. He always takes shots at him. Tell Ross to make a better throw
All those freedoms and Lentz spends his Saturday nights here.
Bad time for a 3 run homer.
Well, anyone who can read lips…the slow motion replay on David Ross’ throw that wasn’t caught by Yunel…he dropped some big ones…concluded with the WHAT THE FRAK and he stared out to Esco.
I have to say, Yunel is an extremely talanted player who is going to be an ALL star very soon, but darn he can make some bone headed mistakes sometimes.
Getting picked off tonight….and then not even trying to lay some leather on that throw by Ross…yes it was off the mark but he should have tried harder on that play.
I’m not advocating Kenshin to the bullpen as a long term solution.
However a trade to the Mariners is an option for 2010.
Kemp would have spiked Escobar bad if he didn’t stop
and it worked on our Braves Boog
and Simpson loved Francoeur.

having a guy (KK) who can give you multiple quality innings out of the bullpen at least once every few days might be really valuable come later this month when the Bravos take on inter-division opponents, like, 30 of their last 40 games
I think KK has had enough. Tip your cap to him and go get him, Bobby.
Why am I getting a bad feeling about this? Bobby should have already pulled KK out of the game.
Why not walk Tony?
End of the line, here.
Previous season high was 113. He’s at 116 now after that walk.
August 9th, 200912:20 am
KK doesn’t give up hits when he’s tired, he loses the strikezone
what are you waiting for Bobby?
so two defensive miscues and a punchless offense yet again with KK on the mound. everyone talks about trading him, KK might be the one asking for the trade after this season! geez!
Horacio Ramirez, Chuck James, Charlie Morton, Jo-Jo Reyes and Kyle Davies all had the occasional brilliant start as well.
It’s a nice problem to have. Don’t get me wrong. But obviously, Vazquez ain’t going to the pain. Neither is Lowe. JJJ to the pen? Yeah right. How about Hanson? I don’t think so. Hudson? Maybe for this year, that makes sense, but doubtful.
KK is the obvious choice, regardless of how well he’s done recently. The Ace of the staff (JJJ) is NOT going to the pen. The Ace of the future is not going to the pen. And three veterans who have proved to be decent starters in the past are also not going.
The “rookie” who has been inconsistent, is the right choice.
Oh. Unless Wren would have traded somebody at the deadline for another bat. Then we wouldn’t be having this convesation.
But, until Hudson is activated, I’m not really worried about it. Even when he IS activated, I’m not going to worry about it.
For starters, we’re probably not going to make the playoffs, so it really doesn’t matter. Secondly, we NEED to see Hudson pitch. So even if KK has to “temporarily” go to the bullpen so Wren can assess who to trade, who to keep, and whether to exercise Hudson’s option or not, I’m cool with it.
Now, if were totally in the thick of the race, and realistically have a shot at October baseball, THEN the decision will be much more critical, imo.
Missed 8 straight and 114 pitches and Bobby sits there. Unreal. Grand slam coming right up. Or walking in a run.
Braves Fan in SC
Cox = big mistake waiting to happen
I can’t believe they’re leaving him in.
KK’s gotta dig deep here and limit it to one run if possible
Kawakami pitched well tonight. He’s out of gas. Looks like Bobby is going to give Kawakami a chance to get out of this jam. I’m ok with the move, given that Asmus is up.
Leaving him in? oh boy…
wtf…. GET HIM OUT… THIS IS INDEFENSIBLE. 9 STRAIGHT BALLS.
August 9th, 200912:21 am
We’re leaving KK in too long again.
Dammit, get him out of there.
Tip your cap to him and go get him, Bobby RHR
You’re not very familiar with Bobby Cox, are you?
I wouldn’t have let him pitch to Ausmus….just wouldn’t have.
He’s really gonna leave him in. He really is.
9 straight balls, get him out!
Is Cox watching the same game
If Bobby Cox was a Mortal Kombat character, leaving pitchers in too long would be his fatality move
bobby you old fart bast ard m other fu cker wake up and stop digging your nose
I actually have a good feeling about this.
August 9th, 200912:22 am
KK to the pen I know hes done this game but he hasant in the past but we paid him a lot of $$$$$ to be a starter
MLB Network givin’ me a live look in…that strike 2 pitch was nice.
Lets go, KK. Buckle down and get out of this
one more KK c’mon
After two four pitch walks and a season high in pitches, I’m not sure I understand why Bobby is leaving Kawakami in. Hope KK can gather himself, but it looks like Bobby is going to let KK take one for the team.
NOW GO GET HIM FFS!
That was nasty.
Now pull him
I don’t care. Bobby got lucky. It’s still not the right decision.
Whoa! KK! Almost wiggled out of it.
WOW…didnt know he had that in him
… and I guess I was wrong.
BIG TIME STRIKEOUT BY KK. One more batter to get. Get this MOFO out.
4 people have called ballgame when the score is 0-0. UNBELIEVABLE!
KENSHIN KAWA-KICKASS! Good job, now leave!
Anderson Silva just embarassed Forrest Griffin.
August 9th, 200912:23 am
LA pitcher out, you can go get KK now
KK just might make Bobby look like a GENIUS.
No no no! Get him out!
