What an awful bunt.
good throw by LaRoche there. Nicely done. Needed that play.
Like I said….I gotta baaaad feelin about this inning.
August 7th, 200912:53 am
OH NO, here come the boys in blue. Petie in trouble again.
Wow, was that a big play. That’s where you like LaRoche even more than Kotchman, on a play like that where he uses that strong arm. He does have the superior arm, being a former pitcher and all.
Bobby, what is the deal?
Ballgame….Jeez…Get MOYLAN OUT OF THERE…Let Soriano get a 6 out save…
Steve from OH
I see the Buck Commanders were on the same page there.
Nice play roachy! Good call Joe!
Damn, Torre and Cox are the same guy, aren’t they? How do you ask one of your better clutch hitters (who had ZERO sacrifices this year – and still does), to bunt.
Thanks Bobby…..er…..I mean Torre.
August 7th, 200912:54 am
yeah, Paul, but that spot won’t see but maybe one more at-bat, and you could pinch-hit there as well. Just seems asinine to not even try to get another run when it’s 4-2 against the highest-scoring offense in the NL.
pryguy……..glad to help. I dont mind giving Bobby Cox props when he does the right thing. Like right now. He pretty much has to keep Moylan in the game. As I said before, I’m sure that he doesnt want to use Gonzalez tonight.
Please, no more crap about Kotchman’s defense. LaRoche was a huge upgrade in every freakin’ way.
Jimmy Joe Jimbob
prime time for a double play.
August 7th, 200912:55 am
Steve from OH -
Players get hurt, no doubt. However, of all the opportunities for them to get hurt, the chances are actually pretty low…if it actually happened, isn’t Diaz capable of getting us by for one night?
Maybe, Heath. But it’s a huge risk to take, especially when you already have a 2-run lead.
August 7th, 200912:56 am
Not the least bit surprised to see Moylan struggling this inning.
August 7th, 200912:57 am
one is better than none
MurphyRules……………My thinking is that Bobby wanted to keep Garret’s bat in the line-up, if Moylan gave up the lead in the 7th.
Nice play by Prado. No way Kelly Johnson makes that play.
One more out to go, with runners on 2nd and 3rd.
Attaboy Moylan. Made him put it in play. Nice play by Martin and Roachy.
Not disagreeing with your reasoning, just scoffing at your incessant posts of correcting others and making irrelevent points for the most part. Less is more my friend, at least in this case.
I guess he’s just going to pitch the rest of the game or until we lose.
Geez, this is nerve wrecking.
2 down….1 to go.
For all those who think the Braves lost something defensively in the Kotchman, there’s no way Kotchman makes that throw and gets the out. No way.
If this inning goes badly, it will be squarely on the head of Chance the Manager and his totally unnecessary use of Gonzalez each of the last two days.
Fortunately for Cox, Moylan is hanging tough, but it would have been nice to have Gonzo available tonight, rather than being used in comfortable wins in San Diego.
Great plays by Roachy and Prado to save Bobby’s bacon
here’s yr ballgame. and yes, we are asking for it.
August 7th, 200912:58 am
mr baseball–so you think we lost nothing defensively with Kotchman? Do you watch baseball?
Matt Kemp looks like the baby from the movie ”Eraserhead” … And Martin Prado looks like Victor Martinez younger brother!
Thats why you keep Ross on the bench.
August 7th, 200912:59 am
For once, we’ll have to agree to disagree… The chances are probably several thousands to one (or more) for it to back fire…..so, I’d say there basically is no risk.
That can’t feel good.
One damn more Peter. No wild pitches for the love of God.
Wayne in Utah
Exactly what I would have told Heath about the backup catcher. Thanks.
Kool Aid Man
August 7th, 20091:00 am
Heath–I’d say if we were trailing, yes, you take that risk. Not when you’ve got the lead though.
Put it behind your back..argh!
Swing at that!!!!!!!
To have a guy like Matt Kemp on the bench…..
Damn, Moylan just earned his salary right there.
way to go, moylan!
it is much easier if you enjoy the game. easy right?
Just another one of Bobby’s INCONSISTENT boys.
August 7th, 20091:01 am
I now have grey hair. But I’m a happy grey haired man.
YEAH, Pedah!!!! Moylan’s the proverbial shiz.
Good job by Moylan, but Bobby, please quit while you’re ahead and take him out. Then give him a few days off for Christ’s sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cool under fire and didn’t get burned. Excellent work Petey!
Moylan made it interesting….but he did the job.
Nice job by Moylan getting out of that mess. With a tiny thanks to Joe Torre.
Oh my holy God.
Well, if I find out tomorrow that Peter Moylan’s arm fell off, I’ll know why.
Bobby is deranged.
The Aussie did good!
Huge showing for Moylan tonight.
We’re two games over .500, 10Paul.
If that gives you grey hair, what would that have done to you if it was in a game that really meant a whole lot?
August 7th, 20091:02 am
I love you Jesus!
Yeah, but we have Greg Norton.
Oh Lordy, I hope McFann’s parents are still watching so they can break this gently to her in the a.m.
BMac definately has a boo-boo on that right hand. Might be right boxing glove by the morning.
Looking for the ol’ “x-rays are negative” in your morning report, Herr Blogmeister.
Those were some hard earned outs right there.
Soriano time. Moylan got the job done. It wasnt pretty, but effective regardless.
This would be a good win to start off the series.
August 7th, 20091:03 am
Guess they wouldn’t let McCann throw 1 or 2 to see if he had “feeling” in hand….I was hopin’ he’d do just what he did…call time out… after he caught the next pitch…then throw it back to the pitcher….just in case…
Bobby is a genius! I’m and idiot!
Did no one teach McCann when he was 9 to put your “meat” hand in a fist, either behind your glove or behind your back?
Yeah…everyone in that dugout will be amped up after that….have to be don’t ya?
Agreed that Moylan may be a prime candidate to have the night off tomorrow. It may have been only 1.1 innings…but they were STRESSFUL innings.
That, and the fine play by LaRoche. Without that throw, a run scores on the groundout to Prado. So Rochy deserves as much credit as Torre does for the stupidity of calling for Martin to bunt, and Martin not getting the runners over.
August 7th, 20091:04 am
Braves get out of a jam without any damage and somebody still says something about Bobby. Did Kelly do anything wrong there too?
Moylan’s been good now for basically 12 straight games. Dude has been pitching well.
hopefully Mota doesn’t bean anybody tonight
McLouth, Prado, and McCann, combined 0-11 today, wow, what is up with that?
Gee all the know-it-alls were wrong again. That must be embarrassing to be wrong so much
I hope Soriano blows the lead in the ninth. I want to see us win in extras.
Great job MOYLAN!!
Chop Chop: We shall soon be three games over .500 and, I’d have silver hair.
Get on base Nate, please, for me, I’m your Bromate, don’t forget our bro-mance!
go take your loser kid to greenday, pretty sure he has zero talent.
take him over to NYO.
August 7th, 20091:05 am
CrimeDog………….dude you cant argue that Moylan hasnt been consistent this year. Dont get me wrong. I’m glad that he got the job done. However, he keeps you guessing as to which Moylan you’ll see.
August 7th, 20091:06 am
Well said Kool Aid Man.
Dear God can we just have Omar back already?
I sure as hell hope Bobby’s not bringing in Gonzo for the 9th.
An extra run sure would be pretty damn nice.
And you can’t argue that there has ever been a better option on this team to pitch the 7th inning. Someone who’s more CONSISTENT.
Just not Prado’s day…
If there were even just one out maybe I could see leaving him out there but….asking for it here RHR
What happens if Mota accidentally hit Chipper, OH…MY…GAWD! I almost want to see it happen.
Just get on base man.
Here comes the triple.
August 7th, 20091:07 am
Man, that was a GREAT piece of hitting by Prado. Just the wrong park.
chilidog75………..dude you might want to go back to the San Francisco game. Moylan hasnt been good 12 straight games.
Very un-Prado game tonight….0-5
I don’t hate the Dodgers like I used to.
We just don’t play them enough. I remember listening to the road games at Dodger Stadium during the summer and gritting my teeth. Now? Meh.
I think McCann leaves his bare hand exposed in that situation…cos’ it easier to “block’ pitches that way….or he’d surely keep it “hidden”…
August 7th, 20091:08 am
Did Prado really go 0-5 today? That is really hard to believe seeing how consistent he has been.
The man only threw 26 pitches. Let’s not get goofy about it please.
First, we rip BC a new one because he is afraid to run a guy out there for more than a batter or two, then he sends Moylan out after he gets ONE batter in the previous inning, and we rip him for that.
You folks are making my point. No matter what Bobby does, your going to find fault with it.
Face it, HE is the manager of the Braves (for how many years now???) for a reason. It is because overall, he is a VERY good manager.
For the record, I think Moylan is fantastic. I just don’t want to see his arm fall off from overuse. It would be nice if Bobby would trust anyone besides Moylan, Gonzo, and Soriano. Otherwise, they might as well send down Medlen and Acosta and call up 2 hitters. And get ready for more arm surgery for Moylan, Gonzo, and Soriano.
You know, as a kid. I should have added that. I must be getting tired or something.
FIGHT FIGHT!! FIGHT!
What happens if Mota accidentally hit Chipper,
LaRoche would go and grab his Springfield and build a sniper’s nest in the dugout.
“Uhh, I uh got yer back, Chip.”
August 7th, 20091:09 am
Infante was 0-4 at Rome today…
Soriano better bring it.
I just don’t want to see his arm fall off from overuse.
Too late….pretty soon he’ll be throwing like Juan Pierre
