With Jurrjens going tomorrow night, have a good shot.
August 1st, 20096:56 pm
I say that was a bad win for the Braves. It sucked some people back in.
The A Bomb
Great Braves 1-2 punches over the years. . .
Hank Aaron and Orlando Cepeda. . .
Darrell Evans and Davey Johnson. . .
Dale Murphy and Bob Horner. . .
David Justice and Ron Gant. . .
Chipper Jones and Brian McCann. . . . . . . .
Diory Hernandez and Greg Norton.
RBI’s by Norton and Diory and an earthquake in north georgia all on the same day. I think I’ll sleep in the basement tonight.

Good win today…Nice come from behind victory…
As Chipper said earlier this week that’s a game Atlanta doesn’t win the past couple of years…but they did today.
LaRoache has a nice game…He’s gunna do well I think he need to be pumped up in the line-up a position or two however
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
braves win. i think tomorrow we can take them to win this series! i really believe with a healthy team we can make a serious run at a wild card berth….but we still need a win tomorrow.
The A Bomb……funny posting at 6:56pm.
August 1st, 20096:58 pm
I loved The Commentators on FOX Today!
I wish we could get them on the BSPN Sunday Night Telecast instead of Miller and Morgan…Who will talk about Manny and his drama all night…
Great win great win!
Good win for the Braves….kind of surprised that Lowe has 11 wins. Only KK has a higher ERA (not by much) and Lowe is the only pitcher with double digit wins. Just goes to show wins is not a good indicator of a pitcher’s performance, huh?
Now I get to watch the Mets hopefully lose while Francoeur goes 0 for 4 again.
August 1st, 20096:59 pm
A-Bomb – love your post, and I hate being picky, but just want to point out it’s Mr. Eko. And I mean absolutely no offense, because it is perfect.
Wow, did we just win that game?
Thanks for everything Turtle from Entourage. Russell Martin looks like that retard on that horrible show.
What a gift. I mean we had some nice little hits here and there but we should have lost that one.
They played like us. Maybe tomorrow night we can get back to where we were like last week when we were actually winning games by way of hitting the @#$% out of the ball and playing killer defense.
Something about losing when Tommy Hanson’s out there makes me a little unnerved. D-Lowe is most certainly not the ace on this staff.
No way we should have lost last night. Have to win tomorrow.
I’m stunned by this. Happy but disbelieving.
Win tomorrow and sweep the Dads off their feet. Whatever that means.
So Hudson hurt his groin??

Lentz “I offer praise, support and patience for those I deem worthy of being on the team”
You are one self centered friggin jerk….
at the very least, at least his toes. Steve from OH
Good idea. I vote we also put his hands in one, too.
Where’s Robert? Oh yeah, the Braves won.
August 1st, 20097:01 pm
You know what Vinings Jim — I point out SO MANY GRAMMATICAL ERRORS on this blog — I’m a teacher — that it’s good to be kept honest.
But every time I see Soriano I imagine seeing him go into the dugout and grab one of those Virgin Mary statues with the heroin in it.
We do have a very good chance to win this series because if you remember we hit Billingsly big time last time in Atlanta. Seems like the offense is feeding off the flame throwers lately and dude throws heat. We’ll win this series, I’m confident.
August 1st, 20097:02 pm
Whew! Very nice win, boys.
Yeah, not looking forward to the ESPN guys tomorrow night. Those two guys we had today, Mark Grace and Kenny Whatshisname, aren’t bad. I…kinda like them.

To reply to one of your last posts about trading Lowe this next off-season….
Don’t tell me Rob has rubbed off on you too…(LOL).
Seriously, as I said to him….ya don’t sign someone one off-season, just to trade him the next.
Lowe’s got a chance to finish with 16, 17, 18 wins.
I’d say…not too shabby.
August 1st, 20097:05 pm
Bennett pitched today for the Rays: 2/3 inning, 1 hit, 2 K’s.
Oh, and I’m glad BMac was able to get the entire day off–see, we cann still win with Ross.
Hey, that’s no knock…he’s a darn good backup.
August 1st, 20097:06 pm
Chipper runs this chit, doesn’t really matter who Bobby likes or dislikes RHR
A happy Chipper is a happy Roman Gal!
The Bird and Indian
We won’t be seeing Robert, JoeBrave, or Monty tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 1st, 20097:07 pm
Bye the way, Jeff Francoeur is batting .19 for 66 (.288) with 2 doubles, 3 homers, 17 RBIs, 1 walk (intentional walk), and 7 strikeouts in 17 games.
However, in his last 1 for his last 13 (..077) with 1 RBI and 2 strikeouts.
If he has another 0 for 4 tonight, I wonder what the New York press will start saying about him?
The Bird and Indian
As far as the not seeing Robert tonight part of your post….
Ya know, God works in mysterious ways.
August 1st, 20097:09 pm
The women on the blog have more sense than the guys. Bobby’s
A win tommorow would be huge. I don’t really see why we can’t make that happen.
You never know what to expect from this team. Obviously, we need Yunel and Martin in there.
A series victory would be huge but still, what happened last night? Man, that was unreal.
That’s all I got.
August 1st, 20097:11 pm
Hell yeah baby!!
Viva LaRetch, Diory, Ed !!
Hey, I’m BRAVES fan FIRST, hater second!
Oh, man…so we gotta wait forever before we get another righty! RSF won’t be ready for years… McFann
Nah…he’s already ready. He’s just biding his time…letting the other players build up their fear.
August 1st, 20097:13 pm
got my Clinically Oriented Anatomy book in front of me now and a few journal articles open on the browser… Steve from OH
I have my Anatomy Coloring Book in front of me…and I can color inbetween the lines!
Steve from OH
August 1st, 20097:14 pm
He’s just biding his time…letting the other players build up their fear.
He should get some pointers from MFIKY to speed his development.
Welcome back Roach.. Nice to see a smile on the face of our first basemen for a change.. Well, we saw a smile from Prado when he started at first, but you know what I mean.. McClouth had a good game as well..
Piedmont Blues (ex-BFIR)
August 1st, 20097:15 pm
Now that’s a nice win. Solid return from Roachy, who clearly considers Sid Bream to be his muse as a baserunner!
Jeff Bennett better have learned something from JJ and Javy while he was stinkin’ it up as a Brave.
They pitch like Cy Young candidates and got no run support in the first half but they didn’t bitch about it. Bennett sucks and acts like it’s the end of the world when he gives up a hit to A-Rod. It was a horrible pitch but he screws us over even more by punching a f*ing door.
I hope he grows up at some point and learns to act like a professional.
Actually I don’t. I could care less.
August 1st, 20097:16 pm
The Kotch-apologists are going to kill themselves if this is the case
Kotchman was my roommate’s favorite…she is not happy about this trade. In fact, she called Laroche a “hussy”. Haha!
I’m on the Barney Website checkin out the purple blobettes…
Now I’m out of here.
and I can color inbetween the lines!
Well, I’ve still got a bit of work to do on that, but they did skip me from coloring book to a color-by-the-numbers book, so that’s to be expected…right?
August 1st, 20097:17 pm
Roman Gal, your roomie is a very wise young lady….
August 1st, 20097:20 pm
Ryan Church is 8 for 36 (.250) with 1 homer, 4 RBIs, 9 walks, and 6 strikeouts in 14 games.
When Matt Diaz has played right field, he is batting 6 for 25 (.240) with 1 double, 1 triple, 4 RBIs, 1 walk, and 10 strikeouts in 7 games.
While Francoeur has the edge so far (with the exception of the number of walks drawn)……it should be interesting to see what the numbers will look like at the end of the season. I have a strong feeling that Jeff Francoeur will STRUGGLE during the month of August.
August 1st, 20097:22 pm
yes RG does have this strange fascination with this Dijon dude
I do have a “fascination” with a bunch of minor leaguers…I can’t help it. But there are plenty of men with the same problem.
August 1st, 20097:24 pm
cabravesfan – so, what will your preparations be a week from right now to get ready for your (imagining here) hot date for the game (and your boy Kenshin)? And, will you really be stalking DOB’s hotel afterward?
zookey………..while I may be a “self centered jerk”………there is NO DOUBT that I want to see the Braves put the BEST GUYS out there who will give us the BEST CHANCE to win.
Some of you can keep rooting for your “favorites” while I keep rooting for the guys who CONSISTENTLY give us the best chance to win ballgames.
LaRoche and Chipper coming up huge today.
But there are plenty of men with the same problem.
Good evening RG!
yes, that was my point!
August 1st, 20097:25 pm
This win got me over that “crusher” in Miami. Phew!
August 1st, 20097:26 pm
I’m going to the game with a friend…sorry, no “hot date” (unless Bobby or Heath suddenly become free ). And it’s entirely possible that I will stalk DOB’s hotel before the game
August 1st, 20097:28 pm
Problem? What problem?
August 1st, 20097:31 pm
Roman Gal: Kotchman was my roommate’s favorite…she is not happy about this trade. In fact, she called Laroche a “hussy”. Haha!
I liked Kotch myself, but it’s puzzling how he could be anyone’s favorite. I mean, the guy was a cigar-store Indian personality wise. He made Ted Williams (in present state) take-on the aura of an extrovert…
August 1st, 20097:32 pm
I’m going to the game with a friend…sorry, no “hot date” (unless Bobby or Heath suddenly become free
Still tied up for next weekend….However, if you’d like to catch a train to San Diego, eat some good Mexican, and visit beautiful Petco, I’ll have Wednesday open. It will be a good day to recover from the cold that will force you to take the day off of work
August 1st, 20097:33 pm
Nice win today. Nice win. Figured the Braves would lose, but they pulled it out and LaRoche was working the plate well too. Can’t wait to get Yunel back in there. Hernandez is solid with the glove but not much to speak of otherwise.
Yunel, Prado, LaRoche, Chipper, McCann, McLouth, Garret and then Diaz/Church. Those two have been handling well. Church has a .378 OBP since coming to Atlanta. Such a huge improvement over Francoeur’s .282 OBP while here… or even his .306 OBP with his new team. Diaz is at .357. Right field has improved from .282 to .360 since the trade. Very nice.
Now, just keep the pressure on tomorrow and pull out a win!
August 1st, 20097:35 pm
I am dying to get down to San Diego but Wednesday is a day game and I have to work
Would love to come out to the game with ya…I’ve been by the stadium there, but never in it.
That’s a great idea, Steve. We should set that meeting up…you don’t think MFIKY would hurt Riaan, do you?
August 1st, 20097:36 pm
but they did skip me from coloring book to a color-by-the-numbers book
Steve, I hate to break it to you, but that’s not a very good sign…
Glad you quoted that 7:09, RG. I missed that.
August 1st, 20097:37 pm
Depends on his teaching style, RG.
August 1st, 20097:39 pm
Whaa…? My confidence has suddenly been destroyed.
Who are we pulling for tonight?
August 1st, 20097:40 pm
but it’s puzzling how he could be anyone’s favorite.
Well, it’s kind of a long story. But, it starts with us yelling, “GO CO(CK)MAN!! YES!! YES!!!” It’s rather inappropriate…
it would be fun but just out of curiosity- how did you manage to drive by dodger stadium? it is not exactly a place you can just pass on the freeway…
August 1st, 20097:41 pm
I think there’s hope for you yet…I won’t give up!
I’ve got the D’backs, Cubs, Reds, Astros. Everything looks good so far except the Cards are leading Houston.
“I am dying to get down to San Diego but Wednesday is a day game and I…”
cabravesfan, you feelin’ alright? Your voice sounded a little rough on that. Sounds like something is creeping up on ya… Could be real bad come Wednesday…
August 1st, 20097:42 pm
Glad to be of service. Bobby’s mentioned you, me, McFann, and cabravesfan.
cabravesfan – God, I hate you – but, as they say, hate is the closest emotion to …fondness?
August 1st, 20097:43 pm
I forgot about the Phils and Padres.
August 1st, 20097:45 pm
Is that your cold coming on early? You might be sick Monday no?
Just don’t get sick on Tuesday…I have tri training that night….
Huh. Why don’t we have gals like you in Ohio, RG?
Oh, and I dunno about cabravesfan. She doesn’t have much taste in hockey players…
August 1st, 20097:47 pm
Just wanted to see it….I used to go visit a water bottling plant in Anaheim a lot for work and it is just a couple of minutes down the street from the Angels stadium…so, I figured when I was in LA that I would drive by it too.
You could never hate me
I wish- this week is really busy for me (the first time in like a month that I have somehting to do- go figure…)
August 1st, 20097:48 pm
I like how people assume that if they never see a player smiling on camera, that they are unhappy with the braves and that they never smile the other 23 hours and 55 minutes of the day. I mean during a 3 hour game, unless it’s the pitcher, a guy might get what? 5 minutes TOTAL camera time, if that.
But of course, I know without knowing that MFIKY doesn’t smile. Ever.
Why don’t we have gals like you in Ohio, RG?
Because then I wouldn’t be “Roman”, I’d be “Ohian” “Ohioan”.
August 1st, 20097:49 pm
Roman Gal Nah…he’s already ready. He’s just biding his time…letting the other players build up their fear.
BMac fears no one!
Would say most fans want the best players on the team.
Has nothing to do with you being a jerk.
August 1st, 20097:50 pm
I used to have to go out to Ontario a lot too….so, the 110 to the 10 sort of took me past the stadium.
August 1st, 20097:51 pm
Wow I feel so popular tonight
I never said I didn’t like your Wings- I like them a lot. I just like Sid better I hope that means we can’t be friends!
wow. That takes some effort- I’m kinda impressed. The stadium actually sits in a gorgeous location but it’s a BITCH to get in and out of…
August 1st, 20097:52 pm
cabravesfan – exactly – underselling the next point
August 1st, 20097:53 pm
Romangal – LaRoche is a “man-hussy”?!
August 1st, 20097:54 pm
Hey…I didn’t say it.
Pretty much you can take whatever the dopes on this blog say and pretty much the opposite is true or will happen
BANK ON IT !!!!
August 1st, 20097:55 pm
“Jair’s dad is awesome. He needs to blog with us….or maybe not.”
I was thinking the same thing during the game. This also gives me a lot of hope about a long term extension on JJ.
Cubbies “takin it” to the Fish after 2.
I’ll allow it, cbf. If you weren’t such a good blogger, I dunno if I would. Just can’t stand that Crosby feller…
Steve from OH:
At least it isn’t a watercolor paint book. That would be a demotion.
Sorry I didn’t see the game today. Family business. I saw online that we won. I liked Chipper’s quote about the Red Sox bag.
WONDER IF THEY SNATCHED SMOLTZ’S BAG AWAY TO GIVE TO LAROCHE AS HE LEFT FOR THE AIRPORT?
August 1st, 20097:56 pm
But of course, I know without knowing that MFIKY doesn’t smile. Ever. RHR
I have it on good authority that he usually smiles during his murderous rampages.
August 1st, 20097:57 pm
fair enough- I won’t hold it against you if you won’t hold it against me
August 1st, 20097:58 pm
Winning on Mc´s day of with Lowe on the mound is always a plus.
August 1st, 20097:59 pm
cabravesfan – you must feel like I did in my class of 21 females the last couple of months – oh, wait, I could see them.
August 1st, 20098:00 pm
Romangal: your roomie must really have had a thing for the Kotchster. Man-hussy is fightin’ words up here in Cackalacky!
Pssshh…watercolors. I was a stud during my watercolor days. Now, if I can just get them dang color-by-numbers books down…
cbf–agreed! I’ll look the other way (angrily, though, whiny-weasel-wussy boy does that to me!).
August 1st, 20098:02 pm
Funny quote from a trade dealine chat:
“Omar Minaya must be champing at the bit, what with only three precious hours left with which to do something incomprehensibly stupid.”
And the response:
“Minaya once traded Jason Bay for Lou Collier. That’s still the record holder.”
Maybe we’ll just fly to atlanta and see a game. You like 1st class?
August 1st, 20098:03 pm
your roomie must really have had a thing for the Kotchster.
Oh, yes! She loved her some Kotchman. I’m not sure if her Braves fan-hood will survive this…
August 1st, 20098:04 pm
Cubs vs reds
Phi vs COL
SF vs HOU
FLA vs NATS
So SF and COL might lose some games to start next week……..Looks like the cubs are in the drivers sit.
