Vintage Peter Moylan. He sure knows how to give up some ropes.
WOW, I cant believe it. Bobby with the early hook for Moylan? Another Apocalyptic move by Bobby there. Bobby must realize that this is a MUST WIN GAME.
cabravesfan – it would take too long to post all 2,000 – needless to say, I believe I have run the proper regression analysis that will allow me the optimal chance of success (by the way, feel free to send me an airline ticket to assist in my search).

I don’t hate Adam, I don’t hate anyone, not even Jeff Francoeur lol I just didn’t really get the trade, thought the braves needed other things more, that’s all. And Adam is just … I don’t know. Whatever. The reasons I don’t like him are probably related to his ADD, which he can’t help, but I can’t help if I don’t like someone either lol. I’ll try to be more understanding ha. But I can’t argue with all the other moves Frank has made thus far, maybe this will turn out as well as the others. Except for KK. Hope it turns out better than the KK experiment.
(Again, I’ll capitalize random words so you can comprehend)
I DIDN’T say that Norton hasn’t been AWFUL. But the FACT of the matter is that he’s ON the team. Rather than raise my BLOOD pressure cursing the GODS that he’s here, I will choose to SUPPORT HIM. Do I WISH we had a better PINCH hitting option? Sure. But I happen to know NORTON is a good guy who HAS BEEN through a lot of horrible THINGS in his life, so I will be happy for HIM, WHEN he SUCCEEDS.
Norton is hitting .364 (4-for-11) since the All-Star break, for your information. and he’s also playing with a disgusting gigantic oozing awful “contusion” on his right calf from fouling a pitch off it last night.
CrimeDog……………..while I have no doubt that Norton is a good guy who had to persevere to get to where he is today. However, what MATTERS to me is what he can do ON THE FIELD.
I will support whoever plays for us. However, I will not BLINDLY support someone. And I certainly wont refrain from being critical of someone who is deserving of it.
The difference between last night and todays’ game is very simple… McLouth and KJ were just horrible in the 1/2 holes last night, and McLouth and Prado are combine 3 for 8 tonight.

He must be…the first day he comes back…we have nearly 50,000 people in the stands.
No one asked you to. Nor did I ask for you to chime in when I said good for him, because he’s taken a lot of crap. We all know how you feel, Paul, because you repeat yourself 45 times a day. But the team we have is the team we have. I get a lot more enjoyment out of being a fan when I don’t nitpick every little detail, like who the 25th man on the roster is. I would rather root for that guy, because he’s had a solid career and a crappy season. I want to see him go out on top. But go on being bitter.
Carroll Rogers………..3 of the 4 hits by Greg Norton in his recent “4 for 11 streak”………were of the “Jeff Francoeur, seeing eye variety”. Only that last hit by Norton was a hit that one could say was “ripped”.
Regardless, I’m happy to see ANY contribution from Norton. However, let’s keep it real and dont lose perspective here. Greg Norton does not put any “fear” into the opposing team. He’s become a “punch and Judy” kind of pinch hitter.
One other thing to think about when assessing the value of Laroche vs. Kotchman is that although Kotchman is about 10 runs better on defense, Laroche is about 5 or 6 runs better running the bases, so the advantage provided by Kotchman’s fielding isn’t as great as some believe.
According to baseballprospectus, Kotchman was worth 6 runs below average in 2007 and again in 2008, and was on pace to do that again this season. Laroche, while obviously no burner, has been about an average baserunner when properly motivated like in 2006 and this season.
In 2007 & 2008, Laroche was worth an average of 2 runs less than average on the bases (which is still 4 runs better than Kotchman’s annual -6). But as you see below, some of the stat geeks got in the ear of some of the Pirates coaches who then turned around and advised Laroche to be smarter and more aggressive on the basepaths. It seems Laroche heeded the advice and became an average baserunner again:
For the Pirates, who are trying to get to the 87-win level, any improvement helps. Every week Fox e-mails a baserunning report to Pirates third base coach Tony Beasley. “At first I was skeptical,” says Beasley. “Now I think [Fox is] a genius. The numbers reveal things you don’t really see with your eyes. You see that last year [first baseman] Adam LaRoche didn’t go from first to third a lot and didn’t take a lot of chances in general. Now he’s being more aggressive and is one of our best base runners. These numbers give the players something of substance to work for. Players want to hear the truth as long as you can back it up. And now we have numbers to back up everything.”
I haven’t been on the blog these past few days and I’m just wandering if there has been any comment from Garrett Anderson surrounding the trade. He sure has looked bad the last two games after being on a tear. I still like him and don’t think people on here give him the respect he deserves. Great play there by Chipper!

Where does the name Petey-Pablo come from?
It’s weird.
Does Frank Wren ever ask Bobby why he goes to the bullpen with such gusto?
It’s the same thing as last year only we paid millions to get guys who are supposed to go more than 6 innings but they don’t.
That was certainly better than a hit and a tie game.
