That’s what you get for trading my only friend. =!
Loaf On A Blackberry With A Blackberry Pie Watching Ethier's HR
August 1st, 20095:47 pm
McLouth of the South
Derek Lowe is a BUM. If we miss the playoffs it’s HIS fault.
nss—-looks like chipper has lost some bat speed and he’s cheating trying to catch up with fastballs, which is why he has taken some of the ugliest swings we’ve ever seen from him
yea anderson kills the inning and the first batter buhh byee… come on
Rob from SC
I can’t stand Lowe
Get a run……….Give a run.
Ace, my A$$
Oh well, at least it wasn’t a 3 run homer.
Gawd, I wished That we had traded for Eithier during the offseason. Instead of F..king with Peavy…!
omg what happened?!
now we are losing yet again…..
August 1st, 20095:48 pm
Garrett (you will note I did not call him Loaf) is feeling the effects of the loss of his buddy Casey, this year’s version of Brayan.
That ball was tagged.
Steve from OH
If we are worried about super two, then we are a cheap A$$ team.
No, we are a fiscally responsible team. Besides, I’d sure like to effectively have 7 seasons of a productive Heyward instead of six.
TnBrian–I’m pretty sure that was correct info, but don’t take it as gospel until you see someone else verify it.
Ethier is a beast

I’m gonna grow my hair like Manny’s. )
Having Prado batting 2nd means a lot to this line-up. Having Escobar puts even more stress on the opposing pitcher when he is batting 5th or 6th.
Getting Infante back will allow Bobby Cox, should he choose to, to load up the line-up with lefties or righties. Diaz/Garret in left……Infante/Church in right. When Infante comes back, if Bobby really wanted to load up against the lefties, then Frank Wren needs to demote Norton and call up Brooks Conrad. Against lefties, Conrad can play 2nd, Prado first, Diaz in left and Infante in right. That would leave only 2 lefties (McLouth and McCann) hitting against lefties. Against righties, the Braves could load up a line-up with Martin Prado being the only righty.
But the above moves are dependent on Infante getting healthy and Brooks Conrad being called up.
Steve from OH
We can always sign him to a McCann/Longoria extension
August 1st, 20095:50 pm
Hit a single to Loaf. He will make it a double.
Yeah I know, I was charging at that one.
I’ve NEVER considered Lowe “an ace” by any means. An above avg. starter at best.
Steve my point is this. If the Braves plan on making him their starting RF on Opening Day, thay lose nothing by calling him up now.
August 1st, 20095:51 pm
Where did the Braves of a week and a half ago, go?
Running themselves right out of innings.
I don’t like games on Fox or ESPN. They just feel completely different. That game against Lincecum I could just tell we were going to beat him.
Those games in Milwaukee were badass, they were perfectly in sync. And then just like that, they give you nothing.
I don’t get it.
D-Lo Is getting Slapped…Time for the Blow-pen to get Busy…!
I have said it for the last 6 weeks that D-lo isn’t a warm weather pitcher…That sinker doesn’t sink in the muggy/humid conditions during the summer months!
But it isn’t our choice–he has to agree to it too. As for calling him up this year–he might be productive, sure, but he’s bound to be waaay more productive in 2016 than 2009, wouldn’t you agree? I want thatHeyward, not a Heyward a month removed from A ball with uncertain production prospects.
Yeah, but Lowe is paid way, way above “average.” He’s making ace money, but not earning it. I fully expect him to pass out on the mound today. After all it’s 84 degrees.
I use the word “just” far too much.
August 1st, 20095:52 pm
ok time for food and then watch the minnesota twins farm team play the phillies farm team.. had enough of this game for one day 51-51 at the end of the game…. derek lowe gets a lead and cant hold it. the team ties it up and gives it right back…
The good thing is that we’re only paying him $45 million over the next three seasons. No big deal.
Rob from SC – Ethier is a beast
Yup! He and Kemp will carry L.A. to a NL pennant this year. Bank on it!
True–but my point is this–unless we can sign him to a very club-friendly contract like Longoria’s, it’s much more responsible to call him up sometime during/after May 2010.
August 1st, 20095:53 pm
Just get this guy Derek.
He would be better than Church and Diaz. We can make the playoffs this year. Who knows what will happen in 2016
Grace talking about the Marlins and they do deserve credit for what they’re doing. Taking 2 from 3 against LA and us.
And I like Lowe, but he is an older guy (36) at a time when we don’t really know how long older guys who juiced (most guys juiced) will be able to maintain a high level of play.
August 1st, 20095:54 pm
I get on the ‘puter and see the Braves are losing again…
Chop Chop –
Lowe, we need 7 innings out of you. Get your @#$% together.
Bobby’s about to take your @$$ out.
August 1st, 20095:55 pm
Dangit…Pizza Boy was the answer to the trivia Q.
Ironically we were eating pizza at the time…
Derek Lowe cant keep a lead or a tie and continues to labor if it comes down to getting rid of a pitcher at the end of the year i say trade lowe because Vasquez and Hudson will be better and we need to shed salary so trade him to Boston or Newyork for the salary dump.
Everyone wants Heyward to spend time in Triple A. Well Diory Hernandez hit .355 in Triple A. Canizares hit well their too. Look at Andy Marte’s numbers. They haven’t hit ML pitching. Heyward is hitting .430 for about 100 at bats with tons of extra base hits and more walks than K’s. He is a SPECIAL TALENT.
August 1st, 20095:56 pm
D-lo Has never been an Ace in his career…we signed him because we were desperate for innings eaters, therefore we overpaid for him…
On most squads D-lo is a #2
McLouth of the South……….dude you are a day late and a dollar short, as always. I already admitted my mistake shortly before the game started last night concerning my mix up on the roster moves that can be made when a trade is made.
Then again, someone admitting they made a mistake is beyond your comprehension.
A couple of days ago the MLB Network guys said they couldn’t figure out why Torre was lookinf forward to the next two weeks (pitching)….well…
That was a big one.
Can we get more than one or no runs in an inning? Is that at all possible?
I will Co-Sign On your last post Chief!
August 1st, 20095:57 pm
Good News, LaRoche can tie it up with one swing. Bad News, it gets kind of dicey after that. Good News, only 6th inning Chipper and the top of the order get a chance to bat again. Hopefully twice.
Lowe pats Furcal nor Kemp on the back as he walks off the mound…I think he misses those guys and Torre. Maybe they could trade Derek for some prospects, don’t even have to be top prospects, just trade him for a guy or two and a lot of cash in the offseason.
August 1st, 20095:58 pm
Ethier and Kemp-
Both over .850 OPS, 34 combined homers…
For a grand total of $800,000.
Let’s hope Heyward and Freeman are this good.
look what Miguel Cabrera did for the Marlins in 03 and what Price did for Tampa last year
The Bird and Indian
Javy and JJ are our true aces. Pick whichever one you want. Lowe is our 3 man to me.
August 1st, 20095:59 pm
BOSTON — Red Sox Designated Hitter David Ortiz issued the following statement today:
Today I was informed by a reporter that I was on the 2003 list of MLB players to test positive for performance-enhancing substances. This happened right before our game, and the news blindsided me. I said I had no comment because I wanted to get to the bottom of this.”
kinda like OJ searching for the real killer, here’s help getting to the bottom of this
1997-2002—-58 hrs– released by Twins
2003-2009–292 hrs–4 time all-star, etc
Paul Lentz, I just hope your parents can admit all their mistakes…
put Lowe on waivers and see if someone takes his contract
Usually I don’t put much stock in day/night splits, but the fact that the Braves are 3 games under during day games and 4 games over during night games actually does mean something….usually McCann is not in the day games.
Matty-D In the Fifth spot…And As streaky as he is…?
Bobby WTH were U on when you did the lineup card? Ginseng…?
August 1st, 20096:00 pm
Diaz swung at a pitch way over his head i mean is there an excuse for that he must have a concussion
you’d think hernandez might try to choke up on the bat, just to see if it helped
How often does Matt strike out on pitches above his head? Seems like he does it a lot
I’ve seen Diaz take some wild swings, but damn, the last 2 days he has looked AWFUL at the plate.
August 1st, 20096:01 pm
I would say Lowe is No. 4 right now, honestly.
Hanson has been a better pitcher than him over the last month.
But you know, usually, what you’re going to get out of Lowe. Six to seven innings. Three to four runs. That’s what he does.
Nova Scotia Steve
Poor Adam…stuck at 1B AGAIN
I love Adam doing this. Where’s all the haters?
laroche will never make another out
The Bird And The Indian…!
Co-Sign On your last post
D-Lo Clowned during the first 2 months and got no run support…
Now He has been sub-par when the offense shows up every no and then…!
(The last 6 weeks…)
Dammit LaRoche we got you to hit homers
LaRoche proving BP is overrated
August 1st, 20096:02 pm
Roche’s swing is pretty. Much prettier than Casey’s. Regardless of average.
Inning Over…Diory Coming Up…
Other than those 2 homers in Baltimore in a Blow-out/meaningless game. D-Ross has been subpar…I’m not hating on him but we need him to step up as well!
LaRoche doing it again
Too bad he won’t see second base.
August 1st, 20096:03 pm
diaz proving he is not an everyday guy
waivers – wow, that’s even more absurd than usual.
August 1st, 20096:04 pm
There’s the hat trick for Ross.
Inning Over! “Bank On It!”
Rob from SC, I agree. And if not, you at least have the option of trading him…which no one will do, but still…
Ross going for 4 Ks his next at-bat and he’s got a good shot at it
Yep. Diory up, inning over. Get used to be stuck at 1B in the game today LaRoche.
Heath – good to see you this afternoon, buddy!
He’s a backup catcher for a reason.
August 1st, 20096:05 pm
This doesn’t even feel like a real game. What am I watching?
We’re letting these guys off the hook. We’ve beaten better teams.
Our pitching is so much better. What was that David Ross? My God.
I refuse to believe the Dodgers are the best team in baseball.
OMG! Thank you Dodgers. LaRoche finally sees 2B!
Inning over. Either Hernandez makes out or Norton does.
Is this game in HD? I thought it was supposed to be, but it’s standard crappy Fox on my set.
Loney Tried to olay that throw, lol
Speed wins games. Roachie!
Braves never get any breaks.
Oh my! Speedy Roachy! ahaha
Wow. That was a break. He was out by five feet.
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
August 1st, 20096:06 pm
they would have held kotchman’s slow ass right there….
Wow… we needed that big time.
Sid Bream moment !!!????
“diaz proving he is not an everyday guy”
He kinda proved that last year. That’s why we got GA. Message to my Braves, you will never catch up to the high fastball. good thing about LaRoche getting on base, turns the order over a little. Better than a 1-2-3 inning.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
