We Have Guts Going Hurt into the series against the Dodgers…Not Good!

I think we lose 2 of the to the dodgers as Joe Torre will Out Manage Bobby, “Bank On It”!

This Series and the off day killed our momentum…

As It stands Right Now we Need Either Chipper or B-Macc to get “En Fuego!” and carry the team for 2 weeks or so…

We Need them to show out Bad during the stretch, And Especially since that we will not make any trades for a bat which we don’t need…

Agree with Wayne

Bobby has 25 of “his boys” on the roster. An example is the Dwayne Wise story from when he first joined the braves that was out about a week ago. Thats why players want to play for Bobby Cox.

Thats 6 strike outs so far and its only the 4th inning. Our offense seems to have slumbered yet again. And all it took was a visit to the Marlins. Ouch. FW better plan on doing something to this offense in the offseason, because tinkering isnt going to cut it. We need some major work. We need power at 1st and power in the outfield. Nate sure hasnt been anything special since coming over here. Hope that changes.

Hitting is fine, but no need to put men on base with a close game right now.

If I knew that neither Prado nor Ryan Church werent going to start tonight……and that Yunel was going to get hit by a pitch and have to leave the game, I would have went in a WAY DIFFERENT direction with my fantasy team tonight. I dont have much confidence in either Diory Hernandez or Kelly Johnson (despite his 5 for 6 streak) helping extend potential rallies.

Hopefully these 2 runs will hold up for Vazquez.

On a night like tonight, all we need is a guy who is breathing, and can pick up and swing a bat. Norton will do just fine.

Bennett is finally gone. I liked the guy at first but there was definitely something wrong in that head of his. Hey at least we don’t have Corky Miller as our back up catcher and Wickman as our closer. Hohn might be a great guy off the field but he is being paid well to be a Professional on it and he ain’t getting the job done. Down with Hohn! When are we going to send Acosta back down? Great fastball but he always seems to give up runs in close games. Is Conrad here yet? Hernandez great glove, light bat! Church is fragile and 30. Francouer was durable and 25. Did we get the worse end of the deal? McLouth has never hit for average but he will steal you a base rarely get caught and can hit for some power. Pretty good range in CF but not sure about his arm strength? Do the Braves call up Heyward this August? I say if they are out of the Pennant race no way. Do we chance rushing him too soon like we did Frenchy? Can we bring McGriff or Galarraga out of retirement? I’m glad to see AJ hitting again in Texas. Always liked him but he would not have did that in Atlanta this year. Too much pressure and he’s where he needs to be! Is Texas the Midwest Braves now? heck they almost look like they are a farm team for us with all of our former players!

CrimeDog…………If Bennett wasnt one of “Bobby’s boys”, then why did Bobby Cox keep using a guy like Jeff Bennett in key 6th and 7th inning situations? Bennett has always been a BUM. Throws a very hittable fastball.

Frank Wren isnt a dumb guy. The reason why he didnt have success in his one year as GM of the Orioles was because he had an owner, Peter Angelos, who made the Ted Turner of the mid-80’s seem like a hands off owner.

From what I’ve been able to see of Frank Wren since he took over as GM of the Braves…….he is about making moves that will improve the Braves. Activating Greg Norton does not seem like a move that Frank Wren would “willingly” make on his own. Do you guys really think that Frank Wren believes that Greg Norton is going to “turn it around”? What logic was there in keeping Greg Norton over Brooks Conrad when Kelly Johnson was activated? Come on, lets be real here.

It was great to see that the Braves released Jeff Bennett. He was a marginal pitcher at best. Who was called up to replace him on the roster? Or does this mean that a trade for a reliever is in the offering, ie,,,, Ron Mahay???
Any chance the Braves would package Medlan and Kotchman for Victor Martinez???

Information/Opinions anyone????

Yes, this will put a dampner on the Dodger series but we will have to have some guys step up for a few games until we get them back. This is wishful thinking of course. The other result obviously will be season over for sure.

Hmm, my comment never posted.

Paul Lentz – I understand what you’re saying about Bobby’s “boys”, but I think you’re misreading it to be honest. We didn’t have a better solution at CF, so JS got a lot of chances, I think everyone in the Braves franchise was praying for Francour to get hot (Wren was counting on it), Prado was hurt and with Infante on the DL it was KJ or bust for a while. He did have a long leash with Bennett, and I don’t know why, for that matter, I don’t know why he ever made it to the majors to begin with, but hey, every team has a horrible reliever or two and many stay on the staff all year.

Just be happy we are not Pirate fans. I grew up in Western PA for the first 15 years of my life but I am totally ashamed at what that Ownership has done to it’s fans in Pittsburgh. It would be like if Rankin Smith decided to buy the Braves right now. Steelers win the Superbowl, Penguins win Lord Stanley and the Pirates play MLB yard sale again. I will always be a Steelers fan, Braves fan and while I follow the Pirates I will never cheer for them again like I once did. Watch out Javy is having his typical hiccup inning right now in the 5th. Ok maybe he will get out of it. Could you imagine if Hohn would have thrown Rocker out of the game?? Bring back Rocker for one game with that Mullett that he was rockin and let him take on Hohn in a no holds barred deathmatch!

Dude, read DOB’s articles and you’ll know why Bennett got released.

It says very clearly that Bennett was tired of having to single-handedly screw up close games and didn’t feel like he could continue doing that at the pace he set earlier this year without some help. He was adamant that the Braves go out and pick up Bob Wickman.

The Braves declined, so Bennett asked for his release.

The Braves send No. 2-prospect, 1B Freddie Freeman, P Kris Medlen, LF-prospect Cody Johnson, and pitching prospect Julio Teheran to San Diego for Adrian Gonzalez and Closer Heath Bell.
