OK Kotchy…no DPs. Maybe Bobby tries a little hit-n-run?
July 30th, 20097:30 pm
Prado and Escobar hurt on same night … you gotta be kidding.
Doesn’t look like Escobar’s is serious. Staying in
Talk of Smoltz back here is insane. The relationship ended on a bitter tone, and the fortunes of this man and his former team do not make for a homecoming, reconcilition – much less a division flag or w/c slot. We were right not to pay 5-5 for him then, and he’s isn’t looking back for us now. But take heart, he’s will be a Brave in the end. His challenge now is to earn a salary behind his present potential. That 7 ERA will be a long time coming back to respectability. (Even Maddox in his last year had a 7 inning 69 pitch SO – in an otherwise bleak year, but that “flash of brilliance” was nothing more than a reminder. IMHO Smoltz has a couple of those left, but nobody is going to claim he earned 5-5.
I looked like it hit the part that was already wrapped. That would certainly take some of the sting out of it.

CASEY! – sorry cabravesfan missed her boy!
Kotchman brings home to bacon!
Nova Scotia Steve
Time for a fastball to the ribs of one Hanley Ramirez…
Esco is hurt. Evident on that slide.
yayz, kotchy gets it done!
Kothy…clutch there. Needed to get on top early.
Steve from OH
Oh that Casey…just never delivers.
July 30th, 20097:32 pm
yeah Kotchman is KILLING US…..
If BMac doesn’t watch out, Casey’s gonna pass him in the RBI department!
Ding Dong the Bennett’s Gone, the Bennett’s gone, the Bennett’s gone…Ding Dong the wicked Bennett’s Gone
Wa Hoo Kotchman doubled!!! Wahooooooooo
July 30th, 20097:33 pm
Nice rip by Kotchman there. I have Kotchman, Escobar, and McCann all on my fantasy baseball team tonight…..to go along with Chipper, Garrett, McLouth and Prado (I wish that I knew he wasnt going to start tonight).
The reason I picked all these Braves tonight is because I felt that the Braves were due for a big offensive performance tonight. I felt a possible 10 game burst tonight. I hope I’m right.
Land Shark Stadium
Candygram. Section 214.
How do like me now?
July 30th, 20097:34 pm
It will be hard for Bobby to put in “his boy” Jeff Bennet now, don’t you think? But I thought we could “bank on” him coming back?
I serious about somebody should get drilled from Florida
Good AB for Javy working count and putting it in play, nice to See a early lead
look at Javy, making him work with 6 pitches that at-bat
July 30th, 20097:35 pm
Major rain here – probably won’t reach the stadium as quickly from here as it would if they were at the Ted.
I think kotchy has found his stroke .Hitting with authority lately !
diaz two at bats this series, seen two pitches.
July 30th, 20097:36 pm
Hanley’s ribs ain’t goin’ nowhere….so…hopefully wait til the bottom of the 9th….with a 5 run lead….then crack a rib or 2….and get outta town….
Diory at short…ohhhhh no
and Esco goes out…great…
Just another reason to hate the Marlins.
July 30th, 20097:37 pm
I would much rather Soriano crush Ramirez in the ribs anyway
Unreal. Both Prado and Escobar not playing now. My fantasy team is taking a hit tonight.
July 30th, 20097:38 pm
Should Wren stand pat? Yea, might as well. [/sacasm]
Prado, Church, Escobar in one day???
I’m sorry I missed that segment on Prado…did they say anything relevant?
That damn Kotchman just refuses to drive in any runs.Dude is KILLING us!!!!
Toldja Esco was hurt, but don’t listen to me, I know NOTHING about baseball.
There’s our ballgame.
I have Prado and Escobar in my Fantasy as well
pray that its just a bruise…
July 30th, 20097:39 pm
Be prepared….Hernandez at SS and KJ at 2B tomorrow as well..
Let’s hope its just tomorrow
Robert, your and idiot.
If escobars arm/wrist is broken and prado is out we need to sell sell sell. Season will be over and it all happened in 2 hours.
July 30th, 20097:40 pm
If anyone on this staff has the cajones to plunk someone…..it’s Javy.
Stick one in Uggla’s ear Javy !
I’m prepared for that as well…
Emergency call up Conrad and DFA Norton
July 30th, 20097:41 pm
Is that actually how you spell cajones???? lol
Nova Scotia Steve……………I usually spread out my daily picks on my fantasy team. However, I just “felt” like the Braves were going to put at least a 10 spot up today. However, 2 of the guys I had starting arent in the line-up right now.
Nice inning by Vazquez.
I’m gettin’ prepared for some “Brooks Conrad at SS” posts…
July 30th, 20097:43 pm
If I was Javy or another Braves pitcher, I’d let someone get to third on purpose. Then to chase the runner back to third, take a misstep throw it right at Hohn ~_~
That’s great…that is great! Church hurt…Prado hurt…Escobar hurt…
Wayne in Utah
July 30th, 20097:44 pm
Don’t have the time to go back and try to figure out what’s going on. What is the deal with Escobar (HBP on the wrist???), Prado (I thought he was just resting today) and Church???
Thanks in advance.
Can’t afford any ejections tonight.
Nova Scotia Steve –
I think so Steve, but I’m about as far from Messican as one can get. Not bad for a Norwegian though.
“Get In My Pocket…?” LOL Hoss Classic Quote…
July 30th, 20097:45 pm
Nate is striking out alot…..
Really good piece by Chris Vivlamore in the AJC (newspaper) today on Brooks Conrad.
I already liked the guy b/c he played well when he was here, but after reading that you can’t help but want him to get a shot to play somewhere in the majors (even as a bench player).
I bet that Conrad is called up tomorrow, if either Esco or Prado have to miss any significant amount.
Diory Hernandez is an inferior defender/thrower and a subpar hitter.
Braves a huge loss without Esco on the field.
Fraking shame, let’s hope nothing serious. Maybe taken out as a precaution?
Where In Tarnation have you’ve been during the game…?
I missed ya on here…
Bill Hohn is the poster child for steroids. If umpires aren’t being tested then they should be. This dude is out of control.
I’m beyond sick and tired of our players being hit!
Ramirez needs to take a 94 mph Vazquez fastball right in the numbers…front, back, it doesn’t matter…
When is someone other than Lowe or O’Flaherty going to stick up for their teammates?!
Is it me or is anyone else thinking can we get out of Florida any faster… this has been a nightmare of a trip! Too much drama and now injuries. All I can say is YUCK! A win tonight would help but I for one have had enough of this place for a while.
July 30th, 20097:46 pm
CrimeDog……..go back and read my posting at 6:41pm if you want my explanation to your 7:34pm posting.
Wayne: Prado was going to be rested but he got hit with a liner in BP, getting Xrays on his ankle. Church aggravated his elbow last night.
On the Pirates – I know, I know “who the hell cares”, but the economics of limited revenue sharing and the luxury tax is such that a team with a low payroll can indeed turn a profit (same economics creates FA millionaires) with low risk. Purely from an economic perspective, consider the $16-20m profits of teams like the Rays, Pirates of 6-7 years ago versus the losses of high salaried teams like the Orioles of the same years. Which business model do you like as an owner? The Steinbrenner money alone can cover a lot of your operating losses w/o the first turnstyle click. A little simplistic, maybe, but you look at the Tampa’s, the Pittsburgs, and KC’s year after year (TB still is bottom five in attendance, and those Aubry Huff t’s aren’t bringing it either), and you know what’s going on: socialism of the diamond. Hey, this is America, I love it.
July 30th, 20097:47 pm
Dave, I appreciate you mentioning the PED story on Big Pappi & Manny. One thing I would like to mention that really upsets me about yours and other coverage, and don’t take this as me just attacking you, is that the PED testing is broader than roids, and 90% of the substances on the banned IOC list are actually things other than roids, and about 50% of those are sold as over counter supplements at your local GNC & Vitamin Shoppe, or have valuable uses as prescription medications.
So while it is fine to be surprised by the names, and it’s not OK to be on that list, as the IOC and the testing community finds most of those substances to give you a definitive advantage, they’re not just roids.
We get into dangerous grounds when we start lumping things like stimulants, pain killers, beta blockers & anti depresents, which are all on the IOC banned list, as roids.
Prado hit by liner in BP in the ankle (currently getting x-rayed); Escobar HBP in the wrist area (just left the game); Church was scratched for shoulder inflammation (probably nothing serious there)
July 30th, 20097:48 pm
Are you calling me a dastardly ump?
Prado hurt or traded
Mets on fire
We’re in a world of hurt all of a sudden.

I’m Ready for the Football/College Party Weather…!
July 30th, 20097:49 pm
I seriously doubt Prado will be traded
July 30th, 20097:50 pm
Co-Sign On Your Last Post…!
I’m Tired of our hitters getting drilled and our Bitchers Not Retialiating!
IT seems Like Hanson has been the only only one to retialiate and that happened in S. Training against the Stros…
IO and ACCTDAWG
Thanks! (shoulder inflammation ain’t nothing to sneeze at)
Jeff Porter should ask for a raise tonight.
Get on your scrubs and pose as a medical assistant. You go a Fletch look to ya. Get the blog the inside scoop on our boys.
July 30th, 20097:52 pm
KJ Gets Traded Tomorrow for a middle reliever and a minor leaguer…”Bank On It!”
I love KJ but he needs a Change of Scenery for Real!
I hate seeing him on the bench…we just don’t have a spot/role on this team ever since MP started to become the Team MVP….
Our best player gets hit and nobody does a damn thing. The first Marlin up to bat should have been plunked. Get some balls Braves!
July 30th, 20097:53 pm
I’m sure the “rehab assignment” was more posturing by the Braves in light of the grievance. Once you suspend someone’s pay, that seems to be the point of no return. It doesn’t happen very often. It’s ok, I know that you know you were wrong. No one expects you to “know” what Bobby is going to do even though you steadfastly claim that you do.
Tebow for President
July 30th, 20097:54 pm
Its almost football time!!! And time for the GATORS to go back to back NATIONAL CHAMPS!!!
Ya know, he even kinda looks like Fletch.
‘….it’s ALL ball bearings nowadays…’
July 30th, 20097:55 pm
FYI….everybody knew the guy was gonna bunt….Pitcher threw 3 breakin’ balls…THE toughest pitch to bunt….NOT the fastball….(unless it’s a letter high fastball)
July 30th, 20097:56 pm
Has Vazquez drilled anybody yet?
July 30th, 20097:57 pm
The first thing that I would do to that loser umpire is shave off his 70’s porn star mustache. The second thing I would do is make him officiate his next game behind the plate without any protective equipment. Of course this would be when the Braves are playing. The last bit of punishment would be make him throw BP to the Braves from 20 feet with no screen in front of him. After all of that we should never have an issue with him again! Looks like Conrad will be back up tomorrow night? Prado will probably be out for some games and Escobar looks like it will be the same for him.
CrimeDog……….I’ve been watching Bobby Cox manage a long time to get a good read on how he manages, particularly when it comes to “his boys”. Bennett was one of “his boys”.
I’m beginning to think that the “pay grievance” thing was Frank Wren’s way to trying to get rid of Bennett without telling Bobby, “look Bennett is a bum, I’m going to cut him”.
Just like the Francoeur trade, I’m sure that Bobby wasnt thrilled to see one of “his boys” gotten rid of. Now if Frank Wren can find some way to get rid of Greg Norton without pissing off Bobby Cox.
July 30th, 20097:59 pm
Just Imagine Loaf’s Stats if he had runners on since he has been Clowning over the last 2 months Plus…
Yeah…THAT’S the ticket….
July 30th, 20098:00 pm
LOL, Boog, Jamie Moyer has one season of 150+ K’s.
Bill Hohn sucks worse at calling a game than I do……..(running away from a charging Marcus Giles)
Is Pedro considered “active?”
July 30th, 20098:01 pm
Yeah, Hohn Balked on that fistbump last night
Obviously, you haven’t been watching close enough, because Bobby has 25 “boys” on his team. That’s the way he always has been. You must not be astute enough to notice, huh.
I really tire of this “his boys” BS. Not a bit of truth to it!
It’s amazing all of the insight you have without ever having been in Bobby or Frank’s office, or the Braves’ clubhouse. I mean, it’s great to have these theories based on zero facts. But trust me…I can promise you…Jeff Bennett was NOT one of Bobby’s “boys.”
July 30th, 20098:03 pm
With only a 2-0 lead, I doubt JV will be drilling anyone any time soon.
July 30th, 20098:04 pm
Two guys on the bench, if Church can’t go. Ouch!
(I am waiting for Robert to blame that one on Bobby too!)
McCann’s gonna have more K’s than RBI pretty soon, it would appear…
Can I pitch tonight?
July 30th, 20098:05 pm
A nice high and tight one to Ramirez is all that is needed. No need to make any big fuss after that.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
