Prado Mania is in full effect
July 30th, 20096:26 pm
I missed it. What happened to Bennett. What’s the Bravos record since KJ and Norton have come back? 1 and 3 I think. Chemictry means alot and KJ and Norton could mean something.
I umped for many many years and Hohn should be suspended.
It’s about time the Braves get pissed off. I would like to see Javy headhunt tonight.
UNCBRave-You seriously think Hudson will go six or more? When, sometime around June of 2010? He sure as hell won’t do it in the three or four starts he’ll get in September.
Prado for bell is it true? or just a fake trade that someone made up?
njbraves, you won’t be saying that when KJ starts his cold streak or Infante doesn’t bounce back. Yeah, yeah, Infante can hit but after an injury like he had and as long as he’s been out, it might take awhile before he’s his old self again.
July 30th, 20096:27 pm
Robert, even though Canseco has been truthfull doesn’t mean he’s not an assclown. The guy is a joke and my definition of assclown is have a flyball bounce off your gord for a homerun. I think the PED guy could be Rickey.
“Robert..so you think that the entire front office of the Braves has been tricked by Bobby Cox? They all are too dumb to see that Bobby is a bad manager? That is essentially what you have been saying”
No, that’s not what I have been saying. Because I believe the Braves front office is concerned about keeping the team a money making enterprise. It’s a business, and they like Cox because he is a company man
As a fan, what I want to see from the Braves is World Series rings, not profits
Small Trade Alteration
White Sox Get:
Low Level Prospect
RP Matt Thornton
July 30th, 20096:28 pm
Robert – Anyone consider that Hohn might’ve pulled out the lineup card because Donk had to ask him who he should have batting?
Blah blah blah blah idiot blah blah same thing over and over blah blah blah IQ 55 blah blah blah
July 30th, 20096:29 pm
Nova Scotia Steve
You cut D.lowe some slack because “he is a proven Major League pitcher.” KK isn’t!
WEll duh!! Let me get this straight, you’re fine with the “15 million dollar man” losing 4 out of 6 because he is a “proven” pitcher but you aren’t fine with the new guy from Japan who isn’t “proven” but up until last night had better stats for the year(except for wins)) than Lowe! Don’t you have your logic a little backwards? I get more miffed at Lowe when he underperforms beacuse he is “proven.” You’re angry at the unproven guy! Why? He isn’t “proven”. I tend to give a new guy to the league more of a break if he strikes out with the bases loaded versus say a Chipper Jones. I don’t know thats just me! Rant on!
I am ready for the games… need a win for the Braves and the Phillies tonight.
If Prado got traded then I bet the Padres were pissed at DOB’s report that Prado limped off the field after getting hit with a line drive during BP. Can we use a little common sense here?
Robert wrote – “As a fan, what I want to see from the Braves is World Series rings, not profits”
would someone else like to take this one or should I?
How can people say Prado for Bell is not good? We are very deeeeeep at 2nd base and anytime you can get a legit closer for one player it would be a steal. It won’t happen because Towers will wan’t more not because Wren won’t trade Prado. We also have 2 potential closers coming off the books at years end and Bell could fill that spot.
“Robert..so you think that the entire front office of the Braves has been tricked by Bobby Cox?”
I’m trying to think if there is a human being or higher primate alive stupid enough to be tricked by Bobby Cox?
Mike in LA
UNC Brave, agree with everything you just said. Don’t think Kawakami is a bad pitcher and I think he’ll continue to get better but there’s no need for him in Atlanta. The Braves have 5 starting pitchers(including Medlan) who are better than him and 6 when Hudson comes back. I know the Braves are not big on “salary dumps” but just give him up for a marginal prospect. The Astros are said to be looking for a pitcher to fall into their lap. Giving them Kawakami would help both teams I think.
July 30th, 20096:30 pm
Why in the name of all that is holy would we EVER want the Fillies to win?
Or is that a typo?
Whoever posted the Prado/Bell rumor on XM & ESPN Radio had better fess up if you made it up. I’ll starting a flaming computer virus straight to your computer.
Slugger - www.theweeklyscene.com
Mario’s on third tonight, right?
If Mario jumps high enough, god help the 15 fans along the Marlins 3rd baseline if an invisible box with a ‘?’ mark reveals a super-size inducing mushroom.
God help those 15 people.
It’s really hard to tell from that video who even initiated the fist bump lol
No Lew, I was asking Braves326 if he/she were Bobby… lol
"Chef" Tim Dix

FM is reporting video killed the radio star.
The A Bomb
Now I get it. . . If we trade Prado then NORTON can be our backup 1st baseman. . .
HMM…. Kotchman needs a day off a couple times a week. . .
Master plan in effect. . .
“Robert wrote – “As a fan, what I want to see from the Braves is World Series rings, not profits”
would someone else like to take this one or should I?”
Oh no, you go for it genius. This I gotta hear.
Yayyyyyy TEAM Let’s make MONEY!!!! – You know you can help out. Go buy ya some box seats and $10 hot dogs to watch Cox manage
July 30th, 20096:32 pm
Can’t find a thing about a Prado trade.
Bill “The Butcher” Hohn. Too funny, Lew & Chop Chop
The Pods got a gem then. Good for them!
Who’s Heath Bell?????
McFann – they start a series against the WC-leading Giants. Braves benefit more if the Phillies sweep the Giants.
July 30th, 20096:33 pm
Robert you’re so wrong its sad.
Chef – I chortled
July 30th, 20096:34 pm
Shamus, now I know why you hate stupid trade talk.
Chef, good one at 6:31
You do realize there are very few professional sports teams that actually make money right? Most owners buy teams as an investment, part of a bigger transaction, or in some cases simply because they can. You do not buy a pro sports team to become rich. It is next to impossible to make money that way, unless you operate like the Pirates (and even then it is rare that you turn a profit.) I’d just like to point that out to you.
Is this what Hohn does on his off-day?
July 30th, 20096:35 pm
Tearing our boy Hohn limb from limb on the pre-game show
Robert – I love Cox and I am a little retarded now after a bout of brain cancer, but who do you want to coach us in lieu of Bobby
Last night we had a Freddi Gonzo recommendation… your thoughts big guy please (no insults just an opinion please)
I agree with Heath go Phillies. We are done as far as the division is concerned but, a sweep of the Giants would definitely help in the WC.
Well, right now I’m just pulling for the Braves. But I gotta tell you, for whatever reason, I’m not as excited about tonight’s game as I used to be…
Shamus Thacker- you won’t find anything because it doesn’t exist, except for within the teen’s head who started the rumor. IMO, would be good trade for Braves if it weren’t fiction. Bell’s a true closer… we’ve forgotten what those look like around here.
July 30th, 20096:36 pm
njbraves – I have said before, you are entitled to your opinion. The post-Cox era (it WILL happen) will prove me right.
Between the time he retires and the time he becomes eligible for induction, Bobby Cox’s Hall-of-Fame stock will make Enron look like a must buy
Rob from SC
I love Prado, but San Diego can get more for Heath Bell than that
July 30th, 20096:37 pm
i cant find anything on the Prado for Bell trade…. It would be a steal for us, makes sense for us but not the Pads i think someone is bullsh1tting, a closer controlable till 2011 for a hot utility player lol, We have KJ and Omar with Conrad in AAA makes sense for us but they wont do it lol
I wish Marteen the best. I’ll be following him.
Hohn brought his hand down in a fist and I think the catcher thought Hohn was giving him a fist bump and therefore gave him one. Looked that way to me.
One more time change for the Bristol bunch: The Braves’ Aug. 16 home game against Philadephia has been changed to an 8:05 p.m. start to accommodate ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. It had been scheduled to start at 1:35 p.m.
I’m all for Freddy G coming back to manage but, if he won’t or can’t I would give Ned Yost the nod.
July 30th, 20096:38 pm
SM-Look it up if you don’t already know. It’s not up to me to educate you.
“I love Cox and I am a little retarded now after a bout of brain cancer, but who do you want to coach us in lieu of Bobby
Last night we had a Freddi Gonzo recommendation… your thoughts big guy please (no insults just an opinion please)”
I have two answers to that – specifically I;d give a guy like a Rick Dempsey a chance. Or someone who would play Whitez Herzog/Billy Martin type baseball
More generally, anyone not named Mike Hargrove, Bobby Valentine, or Lew would be an improvement
DOB have the braves trade Prado for Bell ????
“I love Cox and I am a little retarded ”
And by the way, there’s no need to repeat yourself
Hohn looks like Freddie Mercury V2.0.
July 30th, 20096:39 pm
Shadetree. . . I’m sure that’s the way Chipper saw it as well.
July 30th, 20096:40 pm
NO PRADO TRADE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DOB, any way you can get Wren on the horn and confirm or shoot-down this Prado thing?
Hohn does look like he would enjoy a good fisting
July 30th, 20096:41 pm
Lets put it this way… when ever you read “XM Radio” involving a trade is usually BS.
Chipper is talking about the bad ump, gotta go!
njbraves………..I wasnt aware of the pay dispute between Bennett and the Braves. From what I read of David O’Brien’s posting concerning the issue, the Braves either had to keep him and give him his back pay…..or release him and pursue the grievance. So in other words, if the Braves could have kept him and still pursued the grievance, then they would have brought him up.
Think about it, if the Braves didnt have any intention of bringing up Bennett, then why have him do a rehab assignment in Triple A? Why not send him outright to Triple A when he was healthy enough to pitch? If he is on a rehab assignment, then they have you pay him his Major League salary. However, if he was sent outright to Triple A, then they would only have to pay his Triple A salary.
So in hindsight, you cant tell me that I was “wrong” about him being added to the roster, because Bennett wasnt released for performance related issues. I have no doubt that he would have been called up if it wasnt for the pay dispute.
Also, I didnt say that Kelly Johnson would “kill the Braves”. I said that bringing him up AND sending down Brooks Conrad instead of cutting Greg Norton….would not help the Braves win ballgames. I said that I would support Kelly being on the roster if Norton was released.
I’ve noticed that you are very “selective” as to what part of someone’s postings you want to “pick” to dissect.
Now before you jump up for joy and talk about how Kelly is 4 for 5 since his call-up, might I remind you that Julio Lugo, who was DUMPED by Boston, is hitting .400 with 2 doubles, 2 triples, 1 homer, and 3 RBIs in his first 25 at-bats with the Cardinals. Do you think that that kind of production by Lugo will hold up?
5 at-bats by Kelly Johnson wont make me forget about his horrific 1st half. Lets see how Kelly will do the rest of the season.
DOB The Braves’ Aug. 16 home game against Philadephia has been changed to an 8:05 p.m. start to accommodate ESPN Sunday Night Baseball.
Oh boy! Playing the Fillies on National TV! Sounds like fun, children!
Here’s the argument for Prado: he’s better than Johnson.
July 30th, 20096:42 pm
Clown Boy-You’re really grasping at straws now. I guess it beats what you’ve been grasping all this time though.
Prado’s having an X-ray on his left ankle, we won’t get results until after game starts.
TnBrian Chipper is talking about the bad ump, gotta go!
Oh man! Cann you fill us in on what he said? TV’s in use for another show…
July 30th, 20096:43 pm
Great. Who hit him, do you know?
July 30th, 20096:44 pm
Braveheart-Knew you’d like that one, Dude.
Chipper should wear a MIC
dogsbrekky (Robert is a hater)
Robert – you nasty little man, give us an informed opinion, who do you want to manage instead of Mr Cox, please, put your money where your small mouth is please.. come on be a little more than a little wuss… go out on a limb
OKC has suggested Ned Jost and Fred Gonz
Do you think they would be okay
I say yes to Fred Gonzo, no to Jost
July 30th, 20096:45 pm
Woah, Chipper is flat out bashing this guy. This isn’t going away. Good for you Chipper!
Who hit him, do you know?
What do you want to bet it was KJ?
now we know why Hohn had his lineup card out…HE WAS GOING TO PICK SOMEONE ON THE TEAM TO THROW OUT!…are you kidding me???? I have never seen anything so unprofessional…
Diaz hit Prado
July 30th, 20096:46 pm
Wow, Chipper’s comments were harsh!
Haha! That wouldn’t look good.
Billy the Kid better watch it tonight–umping at third base and all…
Still no games on p2p4u or channelsurfing…any other links?
Chipper saying that the officiating in the league is down…..Calling out Hohn BIG TIME….Calling it 13 on 9…Chipper is a STUD
July 30th, 20096:47 pm
Lew – look in the mirror. A fat aging stoner who has never been able to hold a job is not the kinda guy whose opinions are highly regarded amongst those with more than a 5th grade education.
Kindly leave me (and my ying-yang) out of your feeble thoughts
Steve from OH
That damn Greg Norton, that’s who…
I just hope Prado can keep it up for the long haul. Like the rest of the season. I agree that I could tolerate KJ on the team if Norton was gone and Conrad brought up. Conrad is a dirt player and I like that. I also believe his enthusiasm was contagious. If Infante comes back the middle of August it will be September 1st before he can get in a groove. Huddy needs to go to the pen because that would be easier on his arm right now. I think. I’m not a doctor you know.
McFann, Chipper apparantly understands this ump is looking for something, anything to get in a fight with a Braves player or coach so I don’t think anything will be said.
“”Hohn does look like he would enjoy a good fisting”"
Preferably administered by a highly-aroused Sasquatch.
Check swings for left-handers will be interesting tonight.
July 30th, 20096:48 pm
“Robert – you nasty little man, give us an informed opinion, who do you want to manage instead of Mr Cox, please, put your money where your small mouth is please.. come on be a little more than a little wuss… go out on a limb”
I’ll repeat – Rick Dempsey
Second choice is find someone who believes in little ball
Third choice – anyone not named Hargrive, Valentine, or Lew
There’ll be a big play at third tonight, bank on it.
July 30th, 20096:50 pm
Braves Live is a little late on the “injury update” list. Fred Hickman showed a graphic that has Jeff Bennett still on the 15 day disabled list.
“who do you want to manage instead of Mr Cox”
I want ANYBODY to manage as long as it aint Cox
I’d accept it if NOBODY managed, because then Cox wouldnt be managing
Hey Chipper, why don’t you and Mr. Hohn come on over for a beer
Steve from OH–
Do you enjoy only posting when the Braves lose?
You’re captain *sshat of the blog, congrats!
Go join Hohn and fall off the face of the earth.
Perhaps Robert = Hohn, but that would imply Robert actually had a life.
We all know that can’t be true.
July 30th, 20096:51 pm
Robert – oh come on, leave Lew alone, he actually forms opinions, argues and has something of value to say
You on the other hand are an impish sinle trick pony..
“Bobby Sucks”, all who like him are morons, yada yada yada
SO guess what most sports writers, baseball analysts and baseball players must be <<<<< you Robert
c’mon Bobby, give us something intellectual to discuss, maybe we could derive Einsteins Theory or you could tell us the best way to bake a cake…
Exactly, nothing of vale to add in this here blog… go crawl in your hole hater
I’m just stunned by your stupidity. It must be something. My best guess is, well, Adrian Cronauer from Good Morning Vietman said it best -”You are in more dire need of a blow*#$ than any man in history.”
I’d trade Prado for Bell in a heartbeat, hell i’d even add Manny Acosta and Brandon Jones! Our BP would be awesome with Gonzo, Sori and Bell at the end plus Infante would move right in and take over for Prado so why not make that deal if your the Braves?!?!
July 30th, 20096:52 pm
The fact that Hohn is even allowed in the ballpark tonight, much less umpiring the game, proves that MLB’s Umpire Evaluation process is a joke.
A fat aging stoner who has never been able to hold a job is not the kinda guy whose opinions are highly regarded amongst those with more than a 5th grade education.
Ok, this is easily the most douchebaggy thing you’ve ever said.
A) A person’s age, occupation, race, religion, etc., etc., have absolutely NOTHING to do with their credibility to speak baseball here. None whatsoever. Unless, of course, you’re nolie, then you get bonus points. And you ain’t nolie.
B) What gives you the ability to look down on a man who does an honest day’s work? Are you that special? What type of super-awesome degree do you have!?
C) I have more than a 5th-grade education, and I value Lew’s opinion on here highly. Can’t say the same for you. Kindly piss off, ok?
Because Prado is going to hit .300 for many years to come.
That’s why you wouldn’t trade Prado.
Bruce Froemming is an umpire supervisor now. He is arrogant SOB himself!
July 30th, 20096:53 pm
Jeff Bennett is released. And clubhouse doors throughout the league breathe a collective sigh of relief.
dogs-Thanks for the support, but he’s right-I weigh over 300 pounds. However, I can always lose weight. Robert will never grow a functional brain or develop a personality.
July 30th, 20096:55 pm
If you formed a committee with the express purpose of finding the WORST POSSIBLE manager for the Braves, you could search high and low for years and not come up with a better candidate than Bobby Cox
I’ll say it again – history will prove me right – Now the Cox apologists might not ever accept it, but history will prove me right
Hohn at his finest (above)
God, wouldn’t it be sweet if he was lookin’ for a scrap and Hoss ablidged? Just to freakin’ sweet. Imagine the beatdowm and the fist bumps to follow.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
