Come on Soriano
1-2-3 inning! nothing fancy
Bobby should have used David Ross to pinch hit there. We are up 3 runs. A big hit there by Ross could have put the game out of reach.
Still, I’m confident that Soriano can get the job done.
So, I guess there were only 4 guys available on the bench tonight and Cox didn’t want to use his backup catcher? All I can think of. You know, how often does it burn a coach for using his backup catcher? The odds are so small, you are better off using him in that spot…especially since he swings a good stick.
“Gone Viral: You’re right! LOL!”
They’d never admit it, but there is a certain percentage of the “Braves fans” who post here who are disappointed that McCann just hit that homer and that KJ turned that double play and had that bunt with the great slide. The level of schadenfreude on this board is staggering.
DAVID ROSS anyone????????????????
Marc from FL
I think Soriano is coming to to close, Church, Prado, and Escobar are all injuries, Diaz, Hernandez, and Norton are all available. I’m of the belief something is wrong with Ross. Bobby was using him a lot earlier in the year and to good effect, and lately he, well he had Moylan batting tonight, lol. There’s something wrong with Ross…
Thank you McCann
Come on Soriano!

I wonder if Bobby is willing to go to a 4 man rotation and put KK in the bullpen? At least until Hudson gets back.
Hey, Vazquez had another solid performance. His trade value went up a little more. Think we can swing a deal for him before deadline? After all, we have Kawakami, and he’s just too valuable to trade.
Watching Brooksie try to play short would be plain ugly. No chance his bat could justify playing him there. Plus, shortstops don’t dip.
If the Braves had bigger bats in the OF this year and production at 2B for the whole season Kotchman would not take nearly the crap he does. He is a great defensive 1B and solid hitter. Power numbers are lacking and below even expectations. He seems to be coming around. He will be a great first baseman on an otherwise great hitting team.
Rafael – ONE MORE TIME … the bench is empty except for pitchers and David Ross.
Use JJ, see if we can get him a hugely better average than Norton
OK, I’m usually the last to blast Cox, but WHY IN THE WORLD is Moylan batting right there. Is David Ross dead? And if you’re going to hit a pitcher, why not Jurrjens or Lowe or SOMEBODY with more than five career at-bats?
That’s absolutely, positively piss-poor managing that likely will go unnoticed unless the Marlins score 3 or 4 here in the 10th.
And I meant “unavailable” not “available”
Come on, MFIKY!
Wayne in Utah: you stopped watching because you thought, like many of us, that the Braves had blown another one… C’mon, admit it!
Rob from SC
Be pissed Raffy
Feel sorry for Javy but proud the team didn’t quit.
Why not hit Ross???????????
This is sad but I felt better with peter hitting than I do when norton hits
Hopefully Kelly’s 0-4 performance today will show Bobby that he is a better pinch hitter than he is a starter.
It would be good if more players would play with the passion of McCann. He is such a warrior.
Getting squeezed again
July 30th, 200910:22 pm
3 strike outs=hat trick
4 strike outs=golden sombrero
5 strike outs=platinum sombrero, no one was in danger of this one.
Bobby is saving Ross because he has no confidence that the bullpen can hold a 3 run lead
Rear back and give ‘em the heat right down the middle Raffy…don’t F around.
Why do you need to save a backup catcher if you have a 3 run lead and a chance to add to the lead? Again, BC stupidity.
Gee Wayne, the way you’re talking makes it seem like there is a bunch of premature gloom and doom going on or something?
Gee, if Conrad isn’t back up before the weekend is out, there’s no justice.
Cant use Ross there… No one to catch if Mac goes down… Short bench remember?

Pray Soriano is back to normal tonight…
WTF is Kotchman doing. We are the dumbest team in Baseball
If the Braves can hang on here, big kudos to them. They lose Prado and Yunel, and have Church unavailable. They also had to overcome having Diory in the six hole when Yunel went out.
wrong routes taken
I hope that’s not an error
mfiky stayed on the mound
July 30th, 200910:23 pm
what was that? a team brain fart??
Come On MFIKY, Where U at Baby?
Phils up early 1-0…need to root for ‘em.
Yep. Sending Conrad down has ruined the karma for this team. Thanks Bobby.
How the heck did he single on a soft ground ball to Kelly?
Piss Poor Fundamentals!
Not gonna do it the easy way
i don’t know if Conrad can play SS but how has Chris Burke been doing in Gwinnett? He’s got to be a better option than Diory right now.
OK, I’m whining….. HERE WE GO AGAIN! Why can’t the Braves just win a game without all the damn drama!!!!

Re: Field Me
I’m scowlin’ at “The Scowl”…..at the moment
DOB – I wonder if you will get a response from Soriano if you ask him what he was thinking on Gload’s IF hit when he failed to cover 1B on a ball hit to the right side of the infield
Emilio Bonifacio is the Human Out.
Tonight of all nights, you can’t pinch-hit Ross. If Mac did get hurt, the backup catcher would be Diaz. Then who plays right, if Church is unavailable?
marlins go down fighting like I wish the braves would sometimes
WHY would I get a PHOTO of Javy Vasquez HOLDING the cy young at the WORLD SERIES??
Sorry, I’m ADDICTED to capping for EMPHASIS now.
You are awesome, and should totally respond like an N8-year old when people call you names on a blog. Well played.
Another demonstration that Escobar is not the only one who can make boneheaded plays at critical times.

Piss Poor Fundamentals!
And that falls on the manager
Soriano should have ran to 1st, that was his fault not Kotchman’s.
While Kotchman hasnt made any official errors as a Brave…..he has made two MENTAL errors in the past week (that weak A$$ toss in the Giants game last Thursday that began that MELTDOWN in the 8th inning).
July 30th, 200910:25 pm
Kotchman almost killed himself to make that play because, like us, he has no faith in KJ.
I agree with Burke over Diory right now. I read a few days ago, he hasn’t lit the balls on fire, but he’s been serviceable.
Going to bed, what I learned today is that 1/3 of people that post on this blog don’t actually read it, 1/3 that post on this blog read it but ignore what everyone else says, and 1/3 of the people on this blog deserve a cookie. Shipping those out tomorrow to “you know who you are”. G’night, this game is in the bag (and yes you can hold me to that tomorrow if we lose).
OMG…! I’m So Tired of hearing That Soulja Baby Garbage “Swag On” Crap
No one covered 1st, KJ got to the ball fast, Soriano didn’t break to the bag and Kotchman seemed to have some indecision about going for the ball or bag.
Steve from OH
Nope. He’s fast. Therefore, he must be awesome. Speeeed!
Many thanks to Fredi Gonzalez for letting Ayala pitch to McCann. Unless there’s something wrong with Pinto, there’s no way Ayala should have been left in to pitch to 2 lefties.
Maybe Pinto can’t go 3 nights in a row. That’s the only explanation, because he’s dominated the Braves. Then again, we have to consider who Fredi coached under.
He got to see the manager in Atlanta make all sorts of inexplicable moves regarding the bullpen in game-deciding situations. He certainly learned all he needed to know about late game strategerie from our illustrious manager.
Fortunately for the Braves, Chance the Manager is not the only dugout decider capable of very questionable moves.
There is my Raffy
Joe Torre’s take on unnamed sources: “It’s really embarrassing that their parents don’t name them.”
July 30th, 200910:26 pm
Are we going to win? Will I actually sleep tonight?????
“what was that?”
Soriano forgetting endless Spring Training reps.
Rob From SC
Co-Sign…! On your last post!
Soriano is pissed!
He’s thinking to himself “Go Hohn Yourself Billy!” ~_~
Jman……….if this game were to go another 4 or 5 innings, we would lose. Our best bullpen guys have been spent. So going for the knockout punch would have been worth it with having Ross pinch hit for Moylan.
Wayne in Utah
Actually, I rarely watch the games. I listen to most. I was definitely listening. Not a quitter.
Actually, what I turned away from watching was the rant on the blog. I just paged over to the Game Center, where I keep one of my browser pages. That way if I miss something, I can catch up there!
Remember when Coach was telling us how tough he’d be earlier in the year?
Now lets root for the Phillies
Yeah Scowl….one more!
Mitchell, I guess you went to bed. I hope you choke on this $hit burger, you stain.
it sounds like there are about 500 people left in the stands
If we win this…..how come it still feels like a loss?
Something has got to change.
Marc from FL: I like Chocolate Chip….
You never know, Brian could get tossed from the game and we would not have a catcher if Ross pinched hit. I like my chances better if JJ or another starting pitcher would have pinch hit for Moylan.
July 30th, 200910:27 pm
since when is 137 “servicable”?
I don’t think Bobby is gonna run out onto the field and run to first to cover what Soriano is supposed to do
looks like there can’t be many people there either
Who are our best bullpen guys?
Is Norton hispanic ?! Anyway Norton needs to get his pink slip after this game ! I think Wren is about to do something !! Whether it”s getting rid of certain players or getting one !!!
Mixxo: 2nd that! It feels like a loss because if you look at team stats (hitting and pitching) the Braves should be cruisin’ to the playoffs
Good job, MFIKY! Bring on the team from that evil city out west!
Rob… how the heck do fundamentals “fall on the manager”? You telling me that these men who have played organized baseball for 20+ years not knowing when or how to cover a base can be blamed on the freakin manager? I want some of what you smoke… You are absolutely full of hit air in this blog…
I call BS on this “Can’t use Ross crap.” What’s the use in having a backup catcher if you can’t play him?
Have no fear IKY will get you !
We don’t do any of the little things right. That falls on Bobby Cox to correct them. This has been going on for a few years now, and he doesn’t do anything to fix the problems.
July 30th, 200910:28 pm
Take than HOHN!
This was a must win seeing that we will only take 1 of 3 from the dodgers…
Joe Torre will Out-Manage Bobby, “Bank On It!”
The Braves are going to win it all, it seems.
They won a game.
If this feels like a loss, that’s a you problem.
Come on Mac fist bump that ump!!
Show Hohn! I bet hes kicking dirt and cursing.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
