For all who still think Bobby Cox is not passed his prime, I give you exhibit A. Leaving a noticeably tired Vasques in game in 8th after he had given him 7 strong innings. First batter hits a homerun and Cox still leaves him in game. Javy is straining to throw in 90s and his fast ball is now riding back across plate in the hitters zone like KK last night. Here comes Cox 2 batters too late.

Holy crap, the Braves have finally rid themselves of Jeff Bennett? He actually asked for his release knowing that no team in their right mind would sign his worthless a$$? Finally, we are free of Jeff Bennett, about time..

Had the “Feast Or Famine” Offense Spotted Javy 5 runs plus, he’d be going for a complete game

You can’t bash Javy here….

Robert, seriously man, chillax. Pitchers give up homeruns all the time, it really doesn’t mean much, the walk on the other hand, that was the give away I think.

I’m not going to bash Bobby Cox for leaving in Vazquez to pitch the 8th. Even a tired Vazquez is better then anyone but Soriano in the bullpen. Vazquez has shown that he can grind it out. Bobby took a chance that he could get through the 8th, it just didnt work.

Gonzalez can still get out of this inning.

“So now we’re comparing Javy Vazquez to Greg Maddux. That’s pretty fair.”

Why not? According to everybody on here he shouldn’t be traded. I’m not really comparing him to Maddux.

Just saying that he’s NOT a stopper. Never has been. Never will be. Maddux was. If you’ve got a problem with those facts, take it up with whoever writes the headlines on the Braves offical site. Not me.

I would NEVER insult Greg Maddux by insinuating that Vazquez is remotely in his league “talent wise”. Just stating that Maddux was a stopper.

HOWEVER…… Many have stated that they would rather have Vazquez over Tim Hudson next year, and with 3 runs of support or more, Hudson is/was pretty much unbeatable during his career. Even more so than Maddux.

brian

for the future standpoint – the standing of Soriano and Gonzalez will bring us great draft picks which we can use to help rebuild the farm. I would assume the Braves will offer them both arbitration. Anderson will also bring draft picks but it would be interesting to see if the Braves would take a chance on offering him arbitration. My guess would be no as his value in arbitration would be high above what he would get on the open market.
