Are any of you guys experiencing technical problems with your HD SportsSouth connection on Direct TV? Everything was fine until McLouth came up. I’ve had to switch it to the non-HD version of SportsSouth. SUCKS BIG TIME.

Cleveland did seems to “give” Cliff Lee away. Scouts love Knapp’s potential to the point where he has more “stuff” that Drabek but less of a sure thing. They still gave up there # 2-3-4-10 prospects.

Anyone complaining about Boog… You could be stuck listening to the Marlins’ broadcasters. A Marlins player hits a routine pop-up and they figure out some way to make it sound like he came within inches of hitting a homerun. A Braves player actually hits a homerun, 10 rows back, and they figure out a way to make it sound like their outfielder almost caught it. This is when they’re not BS about past experiences in new/foreign places or some crap.

I have never been a Carlos Carrasco fan. His numbers never come close to his hype. I also don’t think Jason Donald can play SS in the majors which lessens his stock. Marson has potential, but they already have Carlos Santana. It all depends how Knapp turns out and he is a long way away and he already has shoulder discomfort.

I like what Pittsburgh has done the past few days. Tim Alderson has #1 starter upside. Jeff Clement’s bat might take off now that he doesn’t need to worry about learning the finer points of catching. He will play 1B for Pitt.

Rob–I think Donald will be a pretty good 2B, which is exactly what Cleveland needs, and besides they’ve got Chisenhall in the minors. Marson will be at least serviceable, especially if they trade V-Mart and he’ll be a good backup if they decide to let Santana DH or play 1B every so often. I like Carrasco because of the good fastball and changeup and good command–IMO, the essentials for being a good ML starter.

Adrian doesn’t catch that probably. I hope the Marlins trade for him, they have too many good prospects, it’s scaring my a little. See that grab by McLouth???

He’s a very good centerfielder. Everything he possesses went into that play – well positioned, fast, smart. That could have easily been a gapper. He got to it with room to spare, kept the runner at second with a crisp throw.

I’ve got no problem with him in CF for the next four years. If Schafer comes up and hits, great, but this wide disparity between the two afield, I’m not seeing it.

I think I’ve figured out what’s wrong with the team (or at least the perception of the team).

On the Braves official site, the headline for this game reads: “Braves turn to stopper to salvage series finale”

Who the hell writes these damn headlines? Do they watch baseball? Do they understand the terminology of particular phrases or words like “stopper”???

The Braves are 10-10 in Vazquez’s starts (not all his fault – horrible run support), and following a loss, the Braves are 6-5 in his starts. Javier’s “record” is 6-4 in those starts with 1 no decision.

Now, I realize the run support has been horrendous for him (and the other Braves starters), this season. But a “stopper” is somebody who stops losing streaks. He is somebody OVERCOMES poor run support to lead his team to victory to end those losing streaks (or prevent one from starting following a single loss).

Oddly enough, Tommy Hanson’s record following a Braves loss? Braves are 4-0 and his personal record is 3-0.

Derek Lowe has started following 12 Braves losses, and the team has gone 6-6 in those starts.

I’m seein a trend here. The team is hovering around .500 and all of their pitchers are about .500. They are about .500 following losses, and they are around .500 following wins. Not too many losing streaks. Not too many winning streaks.

Like I said. I’ve figured it out. This team has no true “stopper”. Blame the offense all you want. But when Maddux only got 2 runs of support, he found a way to only give up 1. If the Braves only scored 1, he shut the other team out.

Stoppers WIN following a loss, regardless of circumstances.

This team needs a stopper.
