Robert, I don’t even get the “we need a reliever” argument, in fact I haven’t heard an argument, lol, just people randomly calling for a new reliever. No idea why, makes no sense considering the two arms we’re getting back soon.
Another bat wouldn’t be bad, but I just don’t think that’d be enough to spark this offense. We have the wrong people swinging for the fences (just about everyone on the team), and a new bat isn’t going to fix that.

This is where not having Escobar hurts. Also, not having Omar Infante hurts to because he can come in a play shortstop on a night like tonight. Diory Hernandez is simply over matched right now. He could definitely use some seasoning in Triple A right now.

Stanton is the # 2 prospect in all of baseball. Maybin is a five tool center fielder. The Marlins offer is better than anything the Braves can offer unless we included Heyward and Hanson which we won’t.

Some people don’t understand that we can’t get a superstar player without trading Heyward or Hanson. Freeman is a good prospect, but nowhere near the level of Heyward or Stanton. Low A-Ball pitchers won’t get us anywhere.

The Pirates are in full salary dump mode, the Braves are just in a holding pattern. In order to get your trading partner to eat salary, you have to give up more in talent. They aren’t going to just keep eat salary to be nice. I think it makes more since to trade for a need and at a salary point that comes close to a match. Kind of like what they do in the NBA.

I think all the major deals are done. The Padres might move Adrian Gonzalez, but who cares, the Indians might move V-Mart (would be the biggest move), I don’t think Halladay is going anywhere. Probably one or two relievers getting moved around.

No, but they did get a good package. If we had a group of prospects like that in the minors, I think we’d probably already have a big bat with us now. But we don’t. Brown, Taylor and Drabek are their Hanson, Freeman and Heyward. We aren’t giving those three up and neither are they. But we cannot match Donald, Marson, Carrasco and Knapp. I’m actually higher on Carrasco than most anyway, so take that with a grain of salt.
