Hey, just call him a slow starter like Teixeira. That never stops anyone from calling him one of the better players in the game.

If Teixeira gets away with it then why can’t Anderson?

The shame is having to watch Schafer and Francoeur drag this team down for two months before they ever did anything about it. If the Braves had made some of those moves earlier we might not still be hovering over 500.

Bad luck there for Kotchman. Escobar moved the runner to third, Kotchman lined into an out, now the pitcher comes up after the intentional walk to Church. Even though the Braves probably wont score this inning, it would be hard to say that our hitters “choked” this inning.

Glad you got to see the Spotlight! Did you watch it on foxsports.com or somewhere else? I know foxsports.com has a few parts cut out…

I’ve seen most of it, but they always put it on TV (well, OK, like the two times it’s been on) at 10 o’clock on Saturday night. I really want to see the end. I get choked up when he talks about his Grandpa.

[I] put all the links into an e-mail for my wife to watch so she can become an even bigger fan of Brian.

If she still needs any persuasion, I’m always available for chat. :P But that Spotlight would get anybody to like him more–it made me a bigger fann! Didn’t think that was possible…

There’s an article about him in the August ChopTalk. Very very good…really makes you appreciate what he’s done.

Haven’t seen the article on Conrad yet, but I’ll check it out. That’s a cool story about those guys getting his bat!

Going back to BMac for a moment…I so hope he doesn’t leave anymore men on base tonight! Seems like he’s done a lot of that lately…

Joe Simpson just praised Yunel for moving the runner other. He’s about as astute an analyst as Chance the Manager is as a strategist.

Not sure if that was Yunel’s intent or whether he was encouraged by his genius manager to “give himself up” and get Anderson to 3rd. If that was the case, why would you give up an out with perhaps your best hitter to set up one of the weakest hitters in your lineup.

Escobar should have gone to the plate with one thing in mind: get a hit. If Kotchman fails to score the runner, the inning is over with the pitcher coming up, and that’s just what happened.

This ancient idea about “moving the runner over” with a man on second and no outs is just plain stupid, especially when the person giving himself up is one of your best hitters, and the guys behind him are not nearly in his league as run producers.

As long as Cox is practicing his brand of 1950s strategerie, the Braves are never going to achieve at or above their talent level. In close games, this team is at a severe disadvantage because Cox will invariably push the wrong buttons.

How Bout kelly, Shafer, and Cody Johnson, to baltimore for Meredith, and Sherrill, if that deal was there would you do it. Now before you answer look forward, not just this year and take into consideration that there is no way in hell the Braves pay Soriano 9-10 mill, and Gonzo damn sure aint getting 7-8 mil form the Braves.

Kawakami is a grinder. Nice comeback from the first 2 batters getting on base. Some of you forget that he is still adjusting to pitching in the Majors. It’s different here in America than pitching in Japan.

I expect Kawakami to pitch MUCH BETTER next year. However, in order for him to get to the point where he will be pitching much better “next year”, he has to get that experience “this year”. Still, he hasnt pitched badly for us. Just not as deep into games as we’d like.
