For those of you that gave DOB crap for “losing” Griffey you need to thank him now. Loaf has a .295 with 8hr 38 rbi while Griff has a .211 with 10 hr 27 rbi….say it out loud Thanks DOB for losing Griff so that we ended up with Loaf!!!!

Anders…just face facts…the Mets are a second class organization. They always have been. They look even worse because they share the city with the yanks. Nobody can spend “Yankee money”, so you will always be the “other” team. Plus, you have morons running your club.

Our pitching was so old, injured and useless that Wren had to put the cash into the pitching, he had no idea that all of the starters including Hanson would pitch as well and all stay healthy…there is no guarantee Huddy will be the same so we just might need all 5 next year as well

yeah, kinda in between but not all that bad for a #5. Yeah there are cheaper younger ones around, but he’s OK I just wish he could better his command, which is kinda ironic since they touted him as a control pitcher last winter.

Talk about a difference between two coaches. Barry Switzer is a snake and thats why all the idiots in oklahoma love him. Tom Osbourne on the other hand is a complete gentleman who is beloved well beyond the state of Nebraska. Speaking of semi-fast food Italian does ravioli from chef boy r dee count. Actually …with the same number of at bats…Kelly’s production numbers are not that different from Prado’s. Yes…Prado has more hits…but he’s only driven in a few more runs and hit a few more doubles. I’m not sure what criteria someone looks at…..just getting on base is great…but Kelly has even scored more runs than Prado. But in most people’s minds… Kelly has sucked…and Prado has been great….. I just don’t see the big difference.

i agree they shouldnt trade him and that package would have to be expanded to actually aquire him but i guess my ultimate point is his name has been mentioned and shot down b/c he “strikesout too much” and i think if people looked at the numbers, they would realize just what kind player he is and how much better we would be with him. none of this is even mentioning the fact that he is right handed, can play 1st, 3b, or LF, and would real good in between chipper and mac in the lineup

8 mil for some Offense would have been nice. But Wren was soley looking for Frenchy to rebound and supply offense. We were hoping for 260 avg with lots of power or 300 with average power and he did niether. Chipper continues to get pitched around alot, and McCann isnt a Cleanup hitter. Next season our starting pitching will be great still and hopefully will have this look or somthing like it.

Yes, Wren could have used the money on a bat but a lot of you seem to be missing the point. The chain of events happened as such, KK signed before Lowe. You are assuming that Lowe would have come here if we didn’t sign KK. Lets not forget that last offseason the Braves were not the most attractive destination for free agents. We only got Javy because we traded for him and I think he wanted to get out of Chicago. Wren built a solid rotation. If he did not sign KK we would have had to rely on a combination of Jojo Reyes/Charlie Mortin til Hanson was ready. It seems like a bad investment now but it may payoff longterm in that it helped in the development of Tommy Hanson, someone that some see as a future ace.

I was thinking about the Braves situation in comparison to last year and, if you look at it I couldn’t have imagined being only 3 games back. I was just hoping that Wren could acquire some pieces that would fit with are upcoming talent and start to compete in 2110. Wren has done an excellent job and I feel that once the “kids” come up this team could be great for a while. Whether Philly got Lee or not. So I’m just going to enjoy how this team has surprised me this year and hope they squeeze out a playoff bid. If not I know that our talent coming up gives me reason to belive it won’t be much longer till we are back on top.

Today I watched the FoxSports Spotlight on Brian… I cried at the end and put all the links into an e-mail for my wife to watch so she can become an even bigger fan of Brian. Have you read the article just posted on ajc on Conrad? I am a bigger fan of Conrad after reading that story. The Sunday day game, July 5, when the Braves played and lost at the Nats … I was walking out of the stadium with some Braves fans…they saw my McCann t-shirt, told them about the ball that Brian threw me… they had driven up from Atlanta overnight to go to the game… told me story that at Gwinnett that one of them had asked Conrad for his bat if he broke it, Conrad agreed and at the end of the game he gave it to them, interrupting an interview to make sure they got it. I was a fan after that story, but even more after the one just posted on ajc…

Nolie, Arbitration process results in a DOG like Hermida possibly hitting .243, 15 HR’s, 63 RBI’s, OBP .323 and he geta a RAISE!!! due to team not being able to put down appropriate number in fear the arbitrator rules for the player. ONLY entity in a Capitalistic Society that operates in this manner therefore DON’T preach about that is the way this country works. It is most assuredly NOT the way this country works.

Heath the ones with half a brain will. I mean, yeah there is a chance Hamels or Lee could get hurt, but they are the better team now, with a nice lead. Got to start going for the wildcard. Odd towards the end of June when we won that 1st game of the Phillies series and everybody was claiming the Braves poised to take over the division because as bad as the Braves had played they were only 5 out. I said that the Braves would not catch the Phillies because the Phillies would get hot like they have the past two years. Man did I get ripped by everyone on the blog, especially by DOB. I hate when I am right. I really do, because I am a huge Braves fan. Unfortunely I am also a realist.

hmmmmm one, Church still has at least one, maybe 2(cant remember) years left of arbitration. Second, they will probably pick up Hudson’s contract. However, Vazquez would probably be traded. Third they will probably resign Soriano or Gonzo. My guess Soriano.

Very sad to waste the good starting pitching that has been assembled and will be enhanced with the return of Huddy. With a few bats out there for the grabbing (VMART #1) the Braves really should step up and surprise us. WC is there for the taking.

I’m pretty sure, RG. I’d rather have all 75 Marlins fans posting than some of the “Braves Fans” collected here.
On a related note, the Marlins feed yesterday mentioned that their TV ratings are in the top-third for all of MLB. I’d love to see independent confirmation of that, as it sounds like propoganda, but if true, perhaps there is hope for them. Maybe it is just about the weather.

Bay Area Steve, If it’s true the weather is the problem then move them to OKC. I don’t know what Al Gore did but it’s only like 82 degrees right now. It’s usually 95-100 and I think CHI-town hasn’t seen 80 degrees all July. I don’t believe in global warming but, if it’s true I kinda like it.

With all this trade talk going on I read something pretty funny from a red sox fan regarding the Padres Gonzalez. The guy questioned whether Gonzalez could keep up what he is doing because he wouldn’t be facing NL pitching anymore. I realize the Padres don’t get much media coverage and this guy being a sox fan obviously pays more attention to AL teams, but I seriously doubt the pitching that they are putting up is that big of a difference in the pitching he sees most of the time playing in the NL West. Not to mention you could probably fit Fenway and new Yankee Stadium inside Petco Park. NL West probably has some of the most unfriendly homerun parks except for Colorado. The Al east on the other hand probably have some of the smallest parks in the league.
