For those wondering, Cox has a catcher’s mitt on because there’s no fence in front of the dugout here. (they’re probably saying that on TV, but for those who might not have the sound on or whatever, that’s the reason he’s got it on. He talked about it before the game today, the lack of any screen or whatever in front of the dugout here.)

Nice shot Kotchman! At least it’s not a shutout tonight.
Even if we lose tonight, we’ve still got a good chance at going .500 on the road trip with Vazquez starting tomorrow night. I remember hearing Bobby Cox once say that his “strategy” is to go .500 on the road and win 2 of 3 at home. Granted, things haven’t been going that way this year, but if the strategy is to go .500 on the road, then this trip isn’t the end of the season.

I don’t know why Bobby never hit and runs….especially with Prado. Prado can put the bat on the ball whenever he wants to. He can hit the ball to short, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, wherever he needs to. He has McLouth on 2nd, why not hit and run with the perfect hit and run combo (Nate & Martin)?
Pull some strings Bobby…station to station is getting boring.

DOB, both of our arguments make sense. You’re right that they’d want to see what Husdon has as a starter if they plane on resigning him. I say they might want him in the pen for a few more weeks when he gets back so they don’t push him too hard coming off of major surgery, especially if they’re out of the playoff hunt.

Our offense has improved, but without serious power in the middle of the order, and a hot Chipper and B-Mac, we dont do well against top tier pitching. Its sad to see the team improve but continue to not only loss ground, but fall places in the race. The Phils are playing out of their mind. They will come back to earth soon, but we maybe even further out of it than we are now. 8+ games out seems kind of daunting. And there are so many good teams in the wild card race, there is a lot out of your control and too many good things have to happen to win it.
