NORTON also to that list?
Sending Norton out there is like shooting pool with a rope.
July 28th, 20099:12 pm
Nova Scotia Steve
coulda used a strike out there Norton…would have made a lot more people on this blog a lot happier
L O L
swallow that one Bobby Cox!!!!!!!!! and then get us Conrad back!!!!!!!!!!
David Ross need to be the “pinch hitter.” Like now! No win for Jurrjens. =(
I make no claims…just sayin’.
Meanwhile…Norton has to go. Baaaaaad. Really. Bad.
Sorry bout that Garret
meant to say he’s a “professional” (and with that “professional DP right there it’s hard to disagree that Greg Norton is a “Professional” hitter)
Good lord Wren get rid of Norton!!!!!!!!
Bobby will keep using him until you do so!
Why is Norton still on this team!?!?!
good job Norton. why are you still on this team again?
Thank God the HOF manager didn’t put a bunter up in that situation. McLouth could have knocked in Church, getting the Braves away from Cox’s .500 goal.
Norton serves no purpose, he can’t hit, can’t run, and is a below average fielder. If there was ever a “Bobby boy”, it’s Greg Norton.
July 28th, 20099:13 pm
Norton is just…horrible. Release him please.
…or like trying to put an oyster in a parking meter.
Congratulations GREG NORTON, you’ve now become completely useless!
Why does Bobby insist on trotting out that BUM out there in a key pinch hitter’s spot? Is he our “best off the bench bat”? Hell no…but That’s one of BOBBY’s BOYS and until Wren DFA Cox will continue to use him and cost the BRAVES in late game situations.
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
ill continue with some even more norton bashing but ill throw in a little bobby bashing as well…..
why even take jair out? we could have saved the bullpen another inning and that bum norton wouldnt have grounded into a double play. jair could have sacrificed church to second.
ill be here all night if you need more norton bashing.
Keep playin’ me Bobby… I’ll get a hit one day!
July 28th, 20099:14 pm
Agreed, And To think Conrad Got Sent Down and he stayed, WTF?
ohhhh Mikey…your one of my favorite dude’s on this team…But i’m aweful nervous right now
Sending Norton out there is like shooting pool with a rope.
that was good , and made me laugh out loud…
I’ll give you Hermida and Uggla for Norton.
In actuality I’ll take a tube of Crest and a bottle of Scope for Hermida and Uggla.
When you’re outta the playoff race!
Dan in NJ
Another great move by Bobby Cox. Norton! LMAO
July 28th, 20099:15 pm
I know…just think there was no reason to pull JJ right there
Norton’s blackmail photo of Cox must include a goat or something
cabravesfan – this may shock you, but I totally agree on taking out JJ (in fact, I mentioned that to someone on the phone just before you posted).
I guess some of us care more about winning and the TEAM results than the rest of you who would rather “appear high and mighty and sophisticated”
Noton will be DFA or released outright when Infante Gets Back, “Bank On It!”
just mighta pooped a little folks
I don’t have a good feeling about this.
July 28th, 20099:16 pm
Wren needs to sucker the Mets into taking Norton
How about Uggla and Hermida for Norton and Earl Williams–in his present condition.
Rob from SC
gasoline on a fire
chris from md
I’m a little bit concerned about Gonzo. He never seems to finish off hitters. Hardly any swing and misses.
Chris from MD
The Bird and Indian
I think the bigger issue is why he is on this team. That doesn’t have to do with Bobby.
That hole that the Braves got rid of by trading Frenchy, demoting K’fer, and benching KJ, has reappeared with Norton. You see Cox reluctant to trust any bullpen guys other than Moylan, Gonzo, and Sori…but then he keeps putting Norton up to bat.
Is It Me Or Does Gonzo hit batters in the worst Situations…?
He has hit a lot of people this year
At least I haven’t lost as many games as Gonzo…. here comes another one tonite!
With Norton on the team, we officially go to battle every night with 26 men for the opponent and 24 men for the Braves. And Norton is the opponent’s best player. Go figure.
Anyone else nervous?
Norton + Gonzalez = loss
Only KJ is missing int that equation, but he will be inserted there really soon,
Gonzo continuing his control issues.
July 28th, 20099:17 pm
Mixxo, You don’t have a good feeling!!! Watch Hermida play a season.
Here we go again, with Gonzo self-destructing.
July 28th, 20099:18 pm
probably the truest statement ever posted on this board. its quite obvious that norton is a huge phillies fan….
Even after that K, Mike’s body language says…..”I don’t have it tonight.”
Allow me to second-guess Bobby; why let Greg Norton pinch-hit for Jurrjens when Norton’s JUST as much a “sure-out” as Jurrjens is to begin with? I mean, I could SEE Kelly Johnson or Matt Diaz, but Greg freaking Norton?
So now you’ve taken our starter out after 98 pitches (one more inning was in the tank, I’d guess) and we’re the first team to the bullpen in a game that could go extras. Nevermind the fact that our starter was in a groove, and our bullpen is erratic when not efficient, and that’s a toss of the coin.
I have a feeling we’ll wind up regretting that decision, but hope otherwise.
We had Woodcrap for one year
Corky’s Miller time – one year
Now 2009 we will suffer with Norton.
My guess is he will be with us the rest of the year!
God, I hope not!
July 28th, 20099:19 pm
I really wish I could post the thoughts in my head- I fear I would get banned for excessive swearing…
DOB, have you ever noticed if Norton lights Bobby’s post-game cigars? Norton, though unable to hit Gary Coleman’s weight, would appear to be in fine shape for lackeying….
Comparing Mets and Braves stat: Looks as if Jeff fares better the further he gets from TP. Again, he looks like the natural. And, oh yeah, who did we trade him for?
Chris Woodward, Then Dorky Miller, Now Greg Norton…
Three years in a row bobby has had someone on the roster taking up a spot who obviously belongs in AAA
Honorable mention during that time-frame goes to Craig Wilson…
July 28th, 20099:20 pm
Gary Coleman is actually pretty fat, Shamus.
My daddy Bobby doesn’t want to get hit with a foul ball
Carroll is the guy Hermida platoons with. Not exactly Bauer and Slaughter.
Mercy Gonzo…throw a strike…!!
I mean, let’s not get carried away.
Wow what hustle.
What kind of moron slides headfirst into first?
July 28th, 20099:21 pm
Take Gonzalez out
Oh Boy, Here We Go!
I just know that Brooks Conrad would have had a better AB than Norton in that situation, but Mr Conrad was sent back down just so one of Bobby’s Boys can be on the 25 man roster.
Frank Wren needs to put his fraking foot down on Bobby Cox and just “take away” the option to use Norton by DFA asap.
Don’t even wait until Omar comes back, b/c that’s 2 more weeks of Greg Norton!
Here we go Gonzo here we go! Give up a run so everyone forgets how bad I am….
get that $·&%$/&·&/%·& to the showers nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m getting very nervous…
DOB, Tell Juan Rodriguez Rhino could not make the 3 game series.
Corky Millersuck clearly passed “the photo” to Norton
Oh well, we gave ‘em a ballgame anyway.
July 28th, 20099:22 pm
If we blow this game this the inning Bobby Lost it…
Take him out
July 28th, 20099:23 pm
I wish the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel Blog was as intelligent, witty and provocative as this one. There is only one smart guy who ever blogs. Some guy named Rhino.
Bobby Cox would have caught that
Lou Vales: How about Uggla and Hermida for Norton and Earl Williams–in his present condition.
Norton pinch hitting and Gonzalez in late relief: I have seen this equation before.
Maybe Bobby is playing Norton to force Wren to get him off the team.
I don’t know if I can watch this AB
I would go to Moylan here.
Momma….here comes that man again…
Hold on to your hats here people…
July 28th, 20099:24 pm
Double play coming up.
Overflow crowd of 13,128 tonight. Whew.
I think ever since the Unbalanced Schedule Came into effect in 2001, Pro Player Stadium has been a place of horrors for Atlanta…
The Marlins always play us tough here…
I fear Hanley…don’t mind saying it
Gonzo IS da man !!
Now that’s the GONZO we traded for 3 years ago!!!
July 28th, 20099:25 pm
Good job Gonzo!
Nice pitching by Gonzo.. But, that boy sure does make me nervous!
He pulled a 180 during the coarse of that inning…
wow, good going Gonzo, getting Ramirez
How many years will we have to put up with these mouth breathers running over here to cheer Jeff’s latest hit while blaming TP for his suck? I mean seriously. Can’t you people just go put on your pink Francoeur jerseys, cuddle up with your Francoeur build-a-bears, stare longingly at your Braves Francoeur posters and cry yourselves to sleep and leave the baseball to us Braves fans?
Nice comeback by Gonzo!
YYYEESSSSS MIKE GONZALEZ…..I’m going to go have a heart attack…BRB
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
