The City of Marietta, Watch Jeremy closely. Note how he is almost unable to pull the ball with power. 2-0 and 3-1 pitches will be fouled off to the 3rd base side even against low 90’s pitchers. He has no command of the strike zone and you must understand he is basically in a platoon situation with a guy who probably clears waivers(Carroll). Just a BAD baseball player.
Looks like Pendleton has turned Church into Francouer. Jeez. Another pissed away opportunity with a man on third. Braves lead the league in that no doubt.
Mixxo: It’s the 4th inning! We are down 1 run. It is extremely sad that you determine this early in a game that it is already over because of a 1 run deficit. You’ll be the one that doesn’t show up if we win until tomorrow if we are losing.
I’m assuming he is a nice guy. I have no tangible proof but I’m optimistic. Uggla’s AB’s are even more laughable. the Marlins have One GREAT player and one good player(Cantu) in their order. That they are tied with the Braves and in contention for the Wild Card is testimony to Divine Intervention. Trust me. It’s not Fredo Gonzalez who is as confused as his namesake in the Godfather.
Hmmm I feel like somethings changing. It’s like a boxing match. Nolasco got into some trouble last inning and JJ follows by coming back better than we’ve seen tonight.
If we lose this game I can’t wait for the, “Wren are you nuts, we need an OF that can field and hit HR’s and you think we’re good enough!” rants. It’s coming people, and you know it!
Jurrjens4NLCY: They have open dugouts there so everyone has to be pretty aware of foul balls. I guess Bobby knows he isn’t quick enough to get out of the way so he PLANS on catching it.
Negative Negative Negative …. come on folks…. we are playing Florida not any better or worse than us. This is going to be a tough series, they need it as much as we do.
Tricky Ricky has been as touch as JJ. Timely hitting and good D will get us through this much needed game.
Mixxo, Ypu would be pi$$ed off too with the knowledge the league has figured out your all or nothing helicopter swing, your determination to chase balls out of the strike zone, your lack of range, your inability to make even the simplest turn and realizing you are coming up on free agency. Uggla’s facial expressions resemble those of his fellow Memphis Tigers who are at the line late in a tight game with a 1 and 1.
Should have been the pitcher leading off the inning, if Prado had made that play (which was inexplicablyl ruled a single by Baker with two out in fourth inning)
i have to agree, it does seem like in addition to leading the league in allowing the opposing pitcher to reach base; we have an awful hard time getting that runner in from 3rd with less than two outs. Braveheart, you probably know the stats off of the top of your head, don’t you?
The Braves are clearly superior to the Marlins in 5 out of 8 position spots, CF is close and I’d give the Marlins the nod at 1st and SS. The Braves have a slightly better pen and better starters and a better bench. I have not figured out why they are tied in the standings.
Do Jeremy’s parents read this Blog? I’m really not a bad guy, but if I had not moved from South Florida and was still an ACTUAL season ticket holder–I have no doubt that my comments about Jeremy and Uggla would have had me banned from the premises, AND there would have been absolutely no profanity or personal comments. I would have just described them as Major League(LOL) baseball players.
This game has the “off-day/South Beach all-nighter” written all over it . . . never forget seeing Andruw out at 4 a.m. during playoffs down there . . .jeeeeez
way to fight back JJ…now come on O…can’t be squandering scoring opps against the likes of Nolasco…have to take advantage of every chance we get to score…
The Braves had shown interest in Blue Jays right-hander Jason Frasor and A’s righty Michael Wuertz but backed off in part because their bullpen solution might come from within.
His name: Tim Hudson.
Hudson, coming off Tommy John surgery, is expected to return in mid-August. But rather than use him as a starter, the Braves could ask him to pitch in relief.
The Braves currently are set with five starting pitchers: Right-handers Derek Lowe, Javier Vazquez, Jair Jurrjens, Tommy Hanson and Kenshin Kawakami.
Hudson, 34, has not pitched in the majors since July 23, 2008. Working out of the bullpen would be less taxing on him than re-entering the Braves’ rotation in the middle of a pennant race.
