Send Naw-Ton To AAA NOW!
Rob from SC
are we a better team woth Prado at 1B, and Kelly at 2B
Not a lot of 1st basemen that are a defensive upgrade for Kotch. No errors as a Brave
even with the best of excuses you can’t justify Norton being on this team
I think that Norton was trying to golf that pitch. Pathetic.
Nova Scotia Steve
I think ol Greggy boy…knows his days are numbered
Tell me why Greg Norton is not DFA YET???? I WANT TO UNDERSTAND!!!!!
SOB. McLouth is on my Fantasy team. I needed those RBI’s. Shiza
Jman (Yunel is a Saint!)
How is Norton still getting a paycheck from the Braves? Conrad should have been kept and Norton released…
July 26th, 20094:23 pm
Norton K’s again. Maybe we’re hoping to use him as an extra player in a trade? And if not, will release him after the Deadline passes?
RHR – yeah “dude”! Don’t dish it if you can’t take it.
Norton = Automatic Out. But at least its off the bench, one out, as opposed to Frenchy when he was 3 or 4 outs as a starter. Norton should be released immediately. Canizares would be a better pinch-hitter.
Norton cannot even get a flyball or groundball to the right side. This guy needs to go no later when Omar returns.
Steve from OH
However, you conveniently forget about Garret’s 16 year body of work.
Oh, you mean his career .337 wOBA (marginally above average, and worse than Kelly’s career mark) and 0.5 UZR/150 in the outfield? Yeah, like I missed that. On the contrary, I think you missed it. Bye bye.
Norton is done i think he should just do the right thing and retire after the game the last thing a pinch hitter is suppost to do is strike out and he continues to ……
Prado gonna get a chance with the bases juiced!
sad to see Smoltz pitch so badly
I wish we had Brooks Conrad batting instead of N@o#r%t&O*N
July 26th, 20094:24 pm
Oh, wait, I forgot this:
(That’s me laughing at you)
I can’t wait til we get Omar back.
For crying out we need that guy. Are we ever going to have a full season with both he and Prado?
It almost doesn’t even seem fair that we should have two equally talented guys who are ostensibly bench players but are good enought to play just about anywhere.
I guess that’s why we’ve been deprived of having them play the full year healthy at the same time.
But I will say this it is very difficult to come of the bench for maybe one AB each game…
The only problem is….is that its Greg Norton’s job to come off the bench for maybe one AB a game…
And this year…he doesn’t have it…when you can’t hit a fastball in ANY league…its time to say good-bye
C’mon Marteeen, back to your old tricks here !
Prado with ducks on the pond!
All I’m Saying Is…?
I can tell You are A Frontrunning Rooking on this Blog…!
RHR is a Woman and she is a veteran on this blog As Am I
You might need to get familiar with the posters on this blog before you start calling people out…
Yeah I like Garko. Dude is halarious whenever he is on Rome’s show
Send ‘em home Martin.
Wow, Rosenthal is reporting that the Dodgers are in serious discussions to bring both Cliff Lee and Victor Martinez to LA…wow!
July 26th, 20094:25 pm
Rob from SC……it doesnt surprise me. It happens to good players all the time. That is why I dont trip when they struggle. When they turn it around, they TURN it around.
Also, I’ve seen enough of a player like Diaz to not trip on some of his “wild man swings”. There will come a time later in the game when he will RIP one is a critical situation.
Everyone who said the Conrad demotion and the Norton keep was not a “big deal”, WEll??
Why is Nortan back up he is batting .125 and strikes out regularly!!
If KJ continues to hit, I would not mind him to be a pinch hitter. He is at least better than Norton.
We should have used Chipper in Nortons spot or right now for prado the Brews would have never seen it coming!!!
I am sympathetic to the Greg Norton story, but it is time for him to go. All you have to do these days is throw a fast ball around the letters, and he has a gaping hole in his swing.
Ya! Too bad it won’t count as a hit.
Way to go Prado
give Prado a SAC Fly
All I'm Saying Is...
Steve from OH: You are a KJ and Greg Norton fan? And you have the nerve to try and criticize GA by ‘comparing him to the rest of the league’? Puh-leese. You cannot be serious. KJ stinks compared to Prado let along the other 2B in the league. Norton stinks compared to anybody (including my sorry hitting self).
GA was a great pickup given our reluctance to spend any real dollars and due to our desire to have someone hold the fort until the AA level outfield prospects we have are ready for the Show.
We’ll take it !
That’s why you put the ball in play!!!!!
We’ll take it! Marteeeeeeeen!
Boo-birds out in full force.
July 26th, 20094:26 pm
Prado still gets credited with a sacrifice fly and an RBI. Nice at-bat by Prado.
Yea We Will take that…
And All I’m Saying is
I meant to say that you are probably a rookie on this blog…!
Why oh why do we keep Nrton. He WAS good, but time for Brooks Conrad, Brroks Robinson or even Robert Conrad. Bye Bye. What would Jackie Gleason say to Audrey Meadows about POW to the moon. Thats were Greg Norton needs to be
Nice catch Jody
The sun was in his eyes
I just made a noise I’ve never made before.
It was like “YEAHOOHHHYEAAAHHAHHH”!
Bout time for one of those to fall for us. Too bad it wasn’t in a critical part of the game.
Whoo-hoo! Keep ‘em coming!
July 26th, 20094:27 pm
Shoulda resigned Hampton. He can out hit Norton and he out pitched Santana on Friday, too.
Steve, you never did say who you would rather trade? Or did you say it and I just missed it?
At this point, I’d probably trade Kelly (if the Braves’ scouts are telling me good things about Prado’s swing and pitch recognition, think he can hit righties consistently, play average defense, etc., which I think he can) because Prado will make the league minimum and is really impressing the hell out of me right now. If they decide to keep Kelly we’ll know why though.
I thought he nailed it though. I mean he did but I thought it was going over the guy’s head.
A walk would be nice.
We’ll take that one too! Good eye Esco!
Will Escobar get to 100 RBI’s
Yes or No
Way to be patient Yunel.
July 26th, 20094:28 pm
Great AB by Yunel….. easy to get anxious there with the bases loaded.
Time For a Blow-Out here, Lets Do This!
Jason, Did Rosenthal say they would have to send Russell Martin to Cleveland in that deal?
Granny for McCann?
Steve from OH………….The Braves have above average production at the catcher and shortstop positions. For what we are playing Anderson, I feel that his production is just fine.
However, for what we are paying Kelly (which is $325K more), what we are getting SUCKS.
I will Co-Sign On your last post…!
There is something different about these guys since the break. Mateeen, Conrad, I donb’t know. Even Frenchy was showing some life.
When Omar and Tim get back, we do have a chance at the Wild Card. There seems to be some contagient (how’s that for a word) for this winning
Aww, that Brewers fan looked so depressed! It’s ok guy, go get ‘em tomorrow.
Yes Yunel > 100 RBI and the team leader by year’s end.
July 26th, 20094:29 pm
Classic look on that fan.
Watch your backs Brewers!
You can have the hype, we’ll just take the W.
Looks like “loaf” is how they play CF and RF for the Brewers today.
were dusting these guys……. oh an greg norton should be selling used cars in tampa not palying major league ball.
I just tuning into this blog…and I am amazed how down everyone is on Kelly Johnson. Yes…he was in a awful slump, but players go through that.
If you look at the relatively short time he has been an everyday 2nd baseman (2yrs) . He has hit
276 and 287, respectively with16 and then 12 hrs. I don’t, but i believe that would be above average offensive numbers for a 2nd baseman in NL?????
Time For a Slam By B-Macc
Swing For the Fences Here!
C’mon B-Mac…let’s get our first GS
No, the article states Loney, one of their young pitchers, and prospects. It doesn’t mention Martin.
Jesus H. Christ people, I am NOT a Greg Norton fan. How do y’all get these crazy ideas? Did I not advocate cutting Norton and keeping Conrad, after all?
KJ stinks compared to Prado let along the other 2B in the league.
Are ya sure? Because his career numbers are better than the league which, unless I’m mistaken, include second basemen…
I think we can all agree that Mr. Norton’s time will be up when Infante returns (hopefully). There is no good reason for Bobby to continue to beat this dead horse. He CLEARLY doesn’t have it anymore and to put Norton in crucial pinch hitting situations is a travesty. Please cut him now!
July 26th, 20094:30 pm
July 26th, 2009
Jason, Did Rosenthal say they would have to send Russell Martin to Cleveland in that deal?
Loney would go to Cleveland. Would they have to trade Kershaw is the question
Is the game on the tube anywhere us Virginia’s can watch?
Ooooh, looked safe on the live play. Need to see the slo-mo replay though.
Steve from OH………….I bet that if you went around baseball and asked all the GMs whose career numbers they would rather have on their team, Garret would win by a LANDSLIDE.
Hell, you’d be hard pressed to find a GM who would take Kelly over Garret right now.
Mac looked safe from here.
Looked like Brian beat that one out… will have to wait for the replay.
game in the bag , but still would be cool just to bring Chipper out with sacs full to go ahead and put the icing on the cake and blow out the candles as well
July 26th, 20094:31 pm
Tomahawkin’: I don’t really care if RHR is a woman or more of a man than you are. And I can post on this blog whenever and say whatever and if you don’t like being called out, then don’t call GA a loaf. If you can’t stand the temperature, then sit this one out, partner.
Paul Lentz: Don’t try to talk any sense into Steve from OH as he doesn’t have room for any rational thoughts in his tiny brain about players he doesn’t care for and besides facts are too complicated for him.
Remember Corky? And how long Bobby kept him………..
They really would trade Loney? Thats crazy. I thought Loney, Eithier, and Kemp where untouchable for them
Rob From SC
Offensive Numbers and batting averages are down League-Wide…Since the PED/Steroid era is over
No One on this team will have 100 Rbis, “Bank On It!”
McFann’s Mann is getting it done today, huh? I’m a late entry due to church, late lunch with friends, etc. Good to see the boys bounce back from last night.
What the hell was that Brian?
God he is slow. Didn’t look like he was running that hard.
Just Because I Can...
July 26th, 20094:32 pm
whats wrong with Loaf?
Earlier Braves announcers were trying to remember when a Brewer last won a Gold Glove, and it was Robin Yount in 1984. Except for the big guy playing first today, and we know he will not win one today, they sure have exhibited poor defense. Something along the Gross Glove award.
deano54: remember last year KJ got hot after the Braves were already out of it…. the Braves want to be a premier NL team and he is not a premier 2B-man.
July 26th, 20094:33 pm
Mac looked safe to me.
And Tivo sayyyyss: safe. Mac was safe.
Yeah, he looked safe…
I was a tad bit worried about the DP, too, ’cause he hadn’t hit one in a while. Shoulda saved his homer…but, huh, 3-4 ain’t bad. Just stinks the out had to come with the bags full.
Was the roof closed?
Thanks Steve, I think that’s you agreeing with us that KJ get’s the fresh start?
Of course since you qualified the heck out of you answer, let’s say we keep KJ at second(with Bobby, it’s very possible) how would you go about trading Prado then for help? How would you get around the salary limit?
Or would you trade Infante? He has a higher salary point.
As GM, you have to listen to your scouts, but you also have o listen to the beancounters too, right?
It’s too bad Smoltz is so stubborn. We could have booked our trips to cooperstown in 5 years for the Big 3.
Still no grand slams
Are we ever going to hit a grand slam this year? We haven’t even had one yet!
Blame the NOW closed roof McFann……
Why Slobby, why? Moylan has absolutely no business being out there with a six run lead.
Another non-pressure situation for Moylan. I’m ok with him coming into a game like this. Mop up man should be the only games he pitches in.
All I’m Saying Is
If You Don’t Like Me And RHR as well as the other veterans on this blog referring G. Anderson as “Loaf”?
Then We’ve Got Two Words For Ya…?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
