All I'm Saying Is...
July 26th, 20094:06 pm
I don’t care who has been calling GA ‘loaf’ or for how long and it doesn’t matter as now I’m calling out whoever repeats it. My mistake was letting those things slide. By doing that, those comments take root. No one ever mentions the calf injury he had early in the season or his age or the fact that we didn’t sign him because he was a Gold Glover. Let’s just appreciate GA for what he delivers—something I’m trying to do with Kotchman — whoo-hoo, great homer, dude! — instead of focusing on his propensity for the single and overall lousy slugging percentage compared to other 1B who also play good defense (and no I’m not just talking about Albert).
2 doubles, a walk, and the HR for Mac…not a bad day’s work
GA up to .292.
Careful GA, you might actually turn the GA-haters around.
July 26th, 20094:07 pm
Bobby is not the only manager who uses closers late in meaningless situations. Charlie Manuel bringing in Brad Lidge for the ninth with a seven run lead. Scared of Pujols hitting two grand slams with Holliday and DeRo supporting him
Imagine next time the Phils face BMac
McFann, you’re 4:05 cracked me up. I vote we say that everytime Mac hits one out. It could catch on.
Martin had a good night Friday night, nobody hit nothing last night, one game does not a slump make…haters to the left.
That was a pathetic play by Hart.
I’ve never seen somebody just walk to the ball like that.
Oh, I thought Matty got that one.
Steve from OH
But I do think he is expendable, especially once Infante returns and with the emergence of Conrad as serviceable at 2nd.
And I said just the same thing earlier. I’m just talking about the return; I think a reliever is too little for him.
McLouth of the South
July 26th, 20094:08 pm
What a pisspoor effort by Hart there…
The Post at 3:55PM post
That set Me off…!
A bandwagon braves fan who doesn’t watch the games or read this blog called be out…
So I responded to his monkey Ass…!
All I’m saying is..you could use a sense of humor.
ibanze howard utely and rollins all homered 9-2 phils……sucks
Anybody else catch Chipper’s response to McCann’s home run? He was waiting at the top step, making a motion to McCann as though he was yawning and saying, “this game is too easy.” Priceless.
Jman (Yunel is a Saint!)
How about a deal for Ryan Garko? There are rumors…
July 26th, 20094:09 pm
Hart played TurboLoaf’s single like he was returning some hoped for reciprocal play by the champ professional hitter
There we have our answer on Mike Gonzalez. He’s coming into the game.
I loved it when Jeff got his three doubles in the game just before being traded and he talked about how well he was hitting the ball.
Of course that was the first game of his career with three doubles. Brian usually has about one or two a week.

Meters just make more sense than yards.
Also, a few yards is less. It would still be in the park
Okay but I’m still laughing, and a couple or few is subjective.
inches, feet, yards, it’s the American way.
Heath You may resume the WC updates!! You’re my WC info ticker
I vote we say that everytime Mac hits one out. It could catch on.
OK! No idea what it means, but it is kinda catchy…
And yeah, I’m glad Ross didn’t start…no offense to David.
Not now though is he?
Please tell me it’s still Derek.
July 26th, 20094:10 pm
Let’s just appreciate GA for what he delivers
Very average offense from a position that is typically one of above-average offensive producers and below-average defense? Hmm…I’m trying to appreciate that but…just…can’t…
Anyone else hate when someone changes their screenname in order to b1t<# someone out anonymously? Cowards.
Gotcha Toma, didn’t see that. He doesn’t get most of the jokes, I guess.
Surprised to see Gonzo here.
Prado’s gonna be fine. Where would we be w/o his torrid run? I hate to imagine.
Guy’s a gamer and a raker.
cabravesfan, 4:06 pm … “abwright-2 doubles, a walk, and the HR for Mac…not a bad day’s work”
The day’s not over yet. He could still get that third double.
(Actually, I missed an AB and misread a post indicating that he already had 3 doubles and was too lazy to check the box score.)
PissPoor Effort by Corey Fart
That is why I rather go to Minor league/NCAA games over watching the Pro games…
The players who make all the money like to rub it in to the fans too much these days…
Why Is Gonzo In there…?
Bobby’s Dumb Move Of The Day!
July 26th, 20094:11 pm
wb Gonzy. 1-2-3 please!
Gonzo in, BALLGAME!
It’s only the 7th damn inning!
GA’s a Loaf, but he’s OUR Loaf! I like the nickname.
Does this mean Moylan in the 8th?
July 26th, 20094:12 pm
Gonzo looking a little “measured” in his delivery. Hope that isn’t a cause for concern.
Tomahawkin’: Drink your beer and chill out and stop being so sensitive. What a baby u r.
RHR: I do have a sense of humor — I laugh every time I see your face! (now, now, simmer down, I’m just joking)
Wow, Lowe couldn’t go at least one more inning? I thought he said he relished pitching in games this time of year?
Nova Scotia Steve
WOW Gonzo pitching in the 7th…
Im worried about Mike…and this has nothing to do with the line-drive of the forearm.
I think Bobby and company are as well
Loaf has been playing great for this team, slow start was because he didnt have a spring training but overall he dones a great job, good move Wren!
All i’m Saying is…. call me out idc i like to call him Loaf that Nickname has stuck , thats the only reason i call em that i like “Loaf” alot and was one of the few supporters of his when we signed him. all we heard from most is he is old and cant field and doesnt hit for power and is slow. But they were wrong. 2 million well spent
July 26th, 20094:13 pm
Rob from SC………you cant realistically expect a player to play 162 games where he hits 2 doubles and a homer, every singe time out.
Good players are going to have stretches where they struggle. That is why you havent heard me say ANYTHING about sitting McLouth, Chipper, McCann or Escobar when they have struggled this year.
Actually I like seeing Gonzalez being used in the 7th. I think that Bobby possibly wants to see if Gonzalez was affected by the hit on the elbow on Thursday…..yet do so with a lead like he has now. If Gonzalez breezes through, it’s a good indication. If he struggles, he can yank him and bring in another reliever.
Either way, Bobby needs to see what Gonzalez has.
Figured Bobby would put in Moylan or Acosta for 7th.
What was Lowe’s pitch count?
Why did Bobby take him out?
Gonzo should not be pitching.
Gonzo usually doesn’t do well when we have a 2+ run lead..
yea, lowe should’ve stayed out there for one more…
IF…as Steve from OH….sez…the “return” is good enough..I say unload Kelly. Problem is…I think the return would be VERY little. And believe it or not…there are still folks in the Braves organization that think KJ has a much higher “ceiling” than several other players (that shall remain nameless)…He may NEVER come close to that “ceiling”…but…not sure I’d give him away…at this moment…
July 26th, 20094:14 pm
nice pitch! make a liar outta me Gonzo…. please!
NICE pitch Gonzo!
You guys are aware Braves are off tomorrow. We CAN use the pen today.
July 26th, 20094:15 pm
I’d rather see Gonzo test the arm with a four run lead in the seventh in Milwaukee, rather than in a one run game in the eighth in Florida.
Steve from OH: “Very average offense” — Clearly you have not been watching our outfielders perform all year. GA is all world compared to what we were (not) getting from Frenchy and Schafer and he still is our most consistent performer at the plate compared to Church and McLouth (and don’t get me wrong, I am so happy we have Nate). Remember why we signed him..oh, wait…never mind: you probably don’t have a clue based on your earlier post.
Im with you Ashley. Its still ultra painful to watch him chase down a ball in the leftfield corner
WOW, Craig Counsell Has Come Out to “All Along the Watchtower” since 2001….
July 26th, 20094:16 pm
No surprise that your jokes are right down there with your sense of humor.
Man that was scary!
Geez. I even heard Prado yell “I got it”. Oh well. 1-2-3!
Phew man. That was close. You can’t BOTH call it!
Bingo-bango. With the off-day tomorrow, I’d expect to see Soriano used as well. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that. Perhaps Boone Logan or Medlen in the 8th, they haven’t seen too much action lately IIRC.
By no means do I dislike Gonzo. I feel compelled to say that since he struck the guy out.
None of us think that when he’s healthy he’s not a great pitcher, I assume.
I just wish Bobby would leave him alone for a while. He likes to be in there I guess.
Get this little bitch.
Good work Gonzo.
July 26th, 20094:17 pm
As much as I like Garret Anderson, I wouldn’t cry if the Braves traded him for a good reliever. He makes less than KJ, but they could still piece together other pieces I guess.
Good job Gonzo…. the Braves MUST win this one!
July 26th, 2009
WOW, Craig Counsell Has Come Out to “All Along the Watchtower” since 2001….
Surprised Counsell hasn’t been using it since his hay-days in the 70’s
And when I say most consistent performer at the plate, I’m talking about compared to our outfielders (so sit down McCann, Chipper, Escobar, Kotch, and Prado as I’m not talking about you guys.)
That coulda been bad…it was funny though. D. Ross givin’ it to Prado when Martin was going back into the dugout!
Would like to hear a clean version of what he said.
July 26th, 20094:18 pm
All I’m Saying Is…
You Rattled Got in My Ass Calling me out, especially since a majority of the people on this blog have referred Garrett Anderson as “Loaf” all season…
Way to go Casey!
Good day for the Kotch-rocket!
Steve from OH: “Very average offense” — Clearly you have not been watching our outfielders perform all year.
Ya serious? Forgive me for comparing him to the rest of the league. How dare I do such a thing! Oh, and I do remember why we signed him–we missed out on all of our other targets. He was sort of a last resort in our price range.
July 26th, 20094:19 pm
Casey’s having a good day, too.
N Nine -
I still think, one race or another, all the Braves have to do is continue winning series and the rest will take care of itself. People that say they have to sweep to get in, is just patently not true. Assuming the Braves win the game today, that will be three sucessive series wins after the All Star break–a record of 8-3. That’s pretty good, and they weren’t any sweeps in there.
If you take it back to the Braves lowest point in the season, 6 games under .500 at 34-40, there has only been 1 series sweep and the Braves will be at 51-48 at the end of the day (assuming the win today), which is a record of 17-8 in that span. I can live with that type of win-to-lose ratios for the rest of the year. That kind of play will make it tough on any of the teams competing for a playoff spot against the Braves.
Steve from OH …….you sure like to “pick your spots” when you use your “above average player” analysis for Kelly Johnson. You also use last year’s stats to back up Bobby keeping Greg Norton around.
However, you conveniently forget about Garret’s 16 year body of work. Dude struggled for just 1 month this year. Kelly SUCKED for 3 months. Garret has been hitting the ball since Kelly Johnson was in grade school.
You bring up Kelly’s “wrist injury”, yet you fail to mention about Garret’s hamstring issues.
Garret has been hitting the ball for almost 3 months now. Kelly, 2 hits since his return, lol. WOW.
You can appreciate a BUM like Kelly Johnson, yet not someone that has almost 2,500 hits?
You sir, are no Nate Dog.
Great hit KJ…. Kotchman is SLOOOOOOWWWWWW!
July 26th, 20094:20 pm
Kelly wants to play.
KJ havin a good day!
I’m so glad man…this is great!!!
Bring Infante back and good-bye Norton
If we’re going to upgrade the offense at 1B, to me Garko is not that much of an upgrade over Kotchman….
An upgrade would be like KONERKO, V-Mart, or DUNN
Uh oh. Martin 0-fer, Kelly 2-3.
How much you wanna bet that Kelly Johnson is the starting 2B again after today? Better not be!
Awwww, now its little RHR who has his wittle feelings hurt. Dude, don’t dish it if you can’t take it.
GA rocks, Escobar rules, and Prado is the man! Hope Nate is okay as we need him leading off and playing good D. Let’s get Infante back in there and sit KJ back down next to his ‘daddy’ Bobby.
Big inning again????? atleast gotta get one run here!!
A run Shoulda Scored there… Man This Team Is slow…
KJ gets a good audition for other teams…He gets traded in 5 days “Bank On It!”
showcase yourself got the trade KJ!!!!
Steve from OH Glad we stuck with KJ! He’s a different guy. Would you be open to a trade for a reliever??
“You sir, are no Nate Dog.”
Yeah, that was a pretty bad attempt by Gerut.
Another hit for KJ! Good job!
Steve, you never did say who you would rather trade? Or did you say it and I just missed it?
Smoltz lost again. Glad we did not sign him!
Oh good lord Joe, everyone does that.
Kelly having a fantastic offensive day!
Last time one of our slumping “liabilities” had a day like this, he was traded the next day…
Ok Norton prove why u should be on this roster
July 26th, 20094:21 pm
Meanwhile, KJ is having a good day at the plate, today.
Rob from SC
Of course I knew Mac would get healthy again. It just amazing to me to see how great players like McCann can look so bad for a few games, the be totally locked in without warning.
Norton can sure turn on a fastball.
Sorry about that, it was supposed to say: Showcase yourself for the trade KJ!!!
Garko is a big time power upgrade over Kotchman…
My feelings are hurt? By what?
NORTON CANNOT HIT A FASTBALL
2 chances for a sac fly
July 26th, 20094:22 pm
OMG.. Norton blows!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
