When Casey hits one, they are bombs. Hard to believe he has not hit more when you consider what a good contact hitter he is. Always getting the bat on the ball.
As disappointing as the loss yesterday was…if the Braves just keep winning series (which they will, again, with a win today), getting into the playoffs will take care of itself.
Yeah PWHjort Matt Holliday is no where near as good as Tex. The Braves should have gotten Kotchman and a top prospect atleast or traded him elsewhere for the better package.
Well Steve, then you should join us in speculating which need KJ will help the team address rather than telling us how ++ he is.
Well, I’m not much of a speculator, but I do see matches with Arizona for Qualls and a prospect or two (though I’m not a fan of their system), Seattle (he seems like a Jack Z kinda guy), but I’m not entirely sure what we’d ask for, San Fran, and St. Louis. Like I said, you could use him to address the need in the bullpen, but I’d want some quality minor leaguers back too, or you could use him as part of a larger package to get someone good.
My internet service was giving me problems when I was getting ready to type out about Diaz being known for having a couple of bad at-bats and then BAM he gets a hit like he did before the Kotchman homer.
Also, nice RIP by Kotchman here. He got A HOLD of that one, lol. I like Kotchman batting in the bottom of the order. He surprises with the homer from time to time. His glove work warrants his lack of consistent power.
KJ could steal 40 bases a year..if they’d turn him loose…
I agree, he’s got speed and talent. But playing for Bobby he’s not going to be using that speed. Sounds like another good reason for him to get a fresh start somewhere where his talents can continue to shine.
since after the All-Star Break they’ve won 2 series and gained two games in the standings … however since they’re only winning series and not sweeping some of them they’ve also lost 2 1/2 games in the standings.
So really winning two series so far has only netted them a loss of a half game in the standings.

By this point in the season, I’d rather my 1B have 25 cheap homers than 5 shots. But let’s not quibble with a rare event (i.e. a Kotchman homer) as those runs are huge. LET’S GO BRAVES!
tell ya what…i have to eat a little more crow…d-lowe is “ace-ing” up today…pitching great. i have been harder on d-lowe than most (due to his contract), but he is giving us exactly what we needed today…
Not going to gain ground on a team that is on the run the Phils are on right now… They have gained a lot of ground in the WC, though. All they have to do (for both races) is just keep winning series.

PWHjort..ok, you are on the wrong page too my friend. It is not about doggin Kelly Johnson. I like Kelly Johnson.
What it is about is using an asset that is expendable to address a need for this baseball team. That’s all it’s about.
So if not KJ, who do you want to trade? Escobar? Prado? Infante? Some prospects, if so which ones? Do you want to nothing?
But stop making this all about Kelly guys. This is about the team. I put the team’s needs first.
