Yes, Johnson got a hit – Wow! A trend. Yep, we need to put Ol’ Iron Glove and Can’t-figure-out-where-to-throw-the-ball-on-a-DP-chance back at 2B permanently. (Err, I think those are Johnson’s Indian names.)
this team fails to do the basic things you learn in the minors knowing the situation when batting…… runner on 3rd 1 out dont have to do to much just get a pitch that you can hit in the outfield and at the least make contact, or runner on 1st or 2nd no outs bunt em over or hit a grounder to the right side, those are so basic and this team must make those lays to Win cause we cant depend on the homer everyday
DLowe is pitching great only 67 pitches prolly will go 2 more innings, he defintly giving the team a chance to get a more comfortable lead, if we bring in Moylan for the8th were screwed ………..
Please Steve, you’re a human just like the rest of us. You aren’t some bias-free aton looking soley at data and spitting out an answer. KJ is your guy and every blogger here knows it just as sure as we know that McFann’s has a soft spot for a certain player too.
I’m not going to start arguing with you about what your sabermetrics tell you. I see limitation that you don’t. When it comes to KJ, you give me a number that doesn’t tell you that he’s hot for 6-8 weeks of the season and for the rest, he’s is not above average by any metric or stretch of the imagination.
I think he’s a good guy. And I think he deserves a “fresh start” just like Francoeur.
And in any event, if he’s as wonderful as you say, then he will fetch a nice return which is what it is all about.
And maybe that is why you can’t see your bias. We are talking about using an assets, one that is expendable (especially when Infante returns and with a serviceable Conrad down at AAA), to improve the team.
You are arguing solely to keep that asset which is the wrong question to be asking right now. It’s about the team, not KJ specifically, but moving him helps both I think. You can follow him just as easily in another uniform, don’t worry.
Agree with abwright that we need to remain optimistic but man we’ve seen the braves blow many of these in the later innings, so hard to watch… many games I just give up here and go do something else since I can’t stand to watch them lose and would rather be pleasantly surprised later when I’ve seen they’ve actually held on to win one!!!
You aren’t some bias-free aton looking soley at data and spitting out an answer. KJ is your guy and every blogger here knows it just as sure as we know that McFann’s has a soft spot for a certain player too.
Heath– Tony Kubek was a good announcer, but I really remember him more as a player. But especially that play in the World Series where an incredibly bad hop clobbered him in the head and cost the Yankees the Series. Baseball is a game of inches and people claimed the ball hit a pebble.
DOB just did his intro to Nick Peters at the Hall of Fame ceremony. A briskly-paced enunciation of the salient facts … without a single shout-out to McFann, et. al.!
kirkinga,
Yes. Throughout his career, Kelly has been a streaky hitter. Give me one good reason why he isn’t capable of sustaining the hot-streak throughout his career or becoming more consistent. Just give me a good reason and I’ll start doggin’ KJ with you. But I’ve never heard one reason as to why he isn’t capable of overcoming the streaky-ness. And until I hear one, I’m going to continue to support him in hopes that he’s able to. Because he is a talented player, a young player, a cheap player, and if he overcomes the streaky-ness, he could become one of the best 2B in the game. Giving up on him just because you’re frustrated with his streaky-ness is a terrible way to run an organization.
Well Steve, then you should join us in speculating which need KJ will help the team address rather than telling us how ++ he is. At this point he’s expendable, or maybe you are arguing that they should trade Infante or Prado? Is that it?
Because someone has to go, and the team has needs.
I cant believe that the A’s get a top prospect plus 2 others for Holliday and we only Kotchman and a pitcher will never see in the bigs for Tex that just baffles me
