Good Stab By Esco!!!
Yunel gets it done.
Steve from OH -
A few? lol
July 26th, 20093:12 pm
looking back at Loaf’s, Matt’s, Kotchman’s first at-bats of the game … they still didn’t hit anything to the outfield
GA – ground out to first base
Diaz – ground out to third base
Kotchman – pop out to third base
July 26th, 20093:13 pm
abwright, yep, that’s it. thanks. Fielder is living up to his name today.
Bad at bat by Diaz there. Gotta do a better job of ABC ball. Runner on 3rd, less than two outs. You don’t swing at any inside pitches as a righty whatsoever!!
Kotchman is the worst excuse for a baseball player that ever lived.”"
Wanna trade him for Frenchy?
Where is that Homer?
Where is that Homer sayin the Phillies sucked and were going to be beaten by this Braves team? Phillies are studs and they are winning this division by 10 games.
July 26th, 20093:14 pm
I do not understand why KJ is back on our roster? conrad was playing good ball and coming off the bench. Are they attempting to showcase KJ? Or Bobby being Bobby?
So far so good with Lowe. Needs to get the Bravos through the 7th to avoid those middle inning reliever blues.
July 26th, 20093:15 pm
It’s great to have someone at 1B who makes all the plays… and his bat isn’t bad either. I hope we keep Kotchman for awhile.
I don’t understand all the Kotchman bashing. He’s not the ideal 1B bat, but he does have a heck of a glove. he has saved countless bad throws over there.
Gov. Clinton Tyree
Kirk, I’m well aware that a pitcher can be effective with less speed. Looks like Smoltz has less speed.
Remember when Pedro Martinez lost his fastball? He kind of had to relearn how to pitch, put a little on, take a little off…he was almost as good after as he was before.
For a wayback example of a power pitcher totally reinventing himself, see Frank Tanana.
But I still can’t see how we can trade a team an above-average starter for the last two years and ask for only a reliever in return.
Because you have a soft spot for KJ. If he is indeed an “above average” starter as you say, then the Braves will get good value in return.
At any rate, the team needs help in the pen, so that is what why you ask for a reliever in return. It’s a need-based thing. If they could package him with someone else and get a power bat for LF or RF, that would be acceptable too.
No More Bobby 2.
Rafael. There is no sense in it. Its just Donk being his normal stupid self. Why are Norton, Moylan, and Bennett on the roster?
July 26th, 20093:16 pm
Lowe is doing well through 4…
Let’s get some runs!
I hope they are showcasing KJ for middle relief help. send him to KC for Mayhay
I agree BravesFaninMD
I head the explanation about keeping KJ instead of Conrad but it still makes no sense. No disrespect intended to KJ but Conrad was a breath of fresh air. The Braves just like to make the same mistake over and over again. Their self sabotage is going to put me in the therapists couch.
July 26th, 20093:17 pm
KJ did have 7 RBI in a game at Gwinnett… I think if he had gone down there and stunk up the place then he wouldn’t have come back. Conrad will be back.
Soph (sorry for the delay)–
So far I’m cool with it!
They do have a day off tomorrow, and he didn’t play on Thursday, so I had a feeling he’d play today anyway.
They sure are! Hey, the roof is open! What’d I tell y’all about dome stadiums? I hate ‘em. In this series, he’s 0-9 with the roof closed, and 3-3 with 3 doubles with it open. Baseball is an outdoor sport.
July 26th, 20093:18 pm
I just read that the Royals are going to try to convert Tony Pena Jr. to a pitcher. He was DFA’d with a 0.98 BA and one extra base hit. But if they’re able to send him to the minors he’s going to pitch. Of course, with the Braves, his 0.98 BA would make him the top pinch hitter off the bench.
We need to get six more runs here before Genius puts Moylan, Acosta, etc. in.
“BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE !!!…My boy Kelly…now 2-3…hitting .666 (repeating of course)
Bout Time KJ!!!
kelly laid off the changeups this time and something good happened.
Atta boy KJ!!!
Kelly Johnson for HOF
I agree that Conrad brought some excitement… sometimes the Braves are just too predictable and loyal to “veterans” (read: Norton) instead of going with the intangibles. They did that with McCann and Frenchy when they first came up and let them stay….
Damn! KJ just hit a double… (I guess I should be happy but I just don’t like him)
Oh boy, if we don’t get KJ in here I’m gonna puke!
July 26th, 20093:19 pm
Hey…. how about that? Good job KJ.
KJ with a doublé
That works D-Lowe.
nother lead off double, will they get this one in …
I just listened to Mark Lemke do play by play on the radio. Not too bad Mark.
McLouth of the South
Escobar is the fuh king man!
Kelly double. Open the floodgates.
July 26th, 20093:20 pm
Good line-drive there from KJ. He needs to do that more often.
There we go…got the ‘A’…got the ‘B’…time for the C McLouth.
Might be showcasing Johnson. Conrad seems to be better suited to a bench role, as he demonstrated in his short stint with the Braves.
I’m not as 100% convinced that management has turned the corner on their beloved Kelly. Prado had to fight hard over a two-year period for his chance to start. All around, Prado is the better talent, and that was apparent a while ago.
But, giving the benefit of the doubt, management may want to buff up Johnson’s numbers a bit in order to get something like a decent return for him. Stay tuned.
Another runner at 3B with 1 out… hit a flyball !!!!
Good AB’s by KJ and Lowe. McClouth has to get the guy in, plain and simple
My boy Kelly….apparently …gonna have to steal home…
July 26th, 20093:21 pm
Steve from OH
Because you have a soft spot for KJ.
No soft spots, kirk, just callin’ it the way I see it. When I see a 2B post an aggregate .355-ish wOBA from ‘07-08 (for reference, McLouth’s wOBA this season is .362, and average is typically around .330), I’m not going to dismiss that player because he didn’t hit for half a season in 2009. And I’m probably gonna be upset it he’s traded for a reliever. He is, like it or not, still a valuable commodity, and expendable because of Prado, and if we don’t get value for him now we need to hold on to him and hope he boosts his stock.
McFann – so true. Completely forgot about the day off tomorrow.
Holy geez, can we not get a runner in with third and less than 2 outs?! FLY BALLS people!
Not good Nate…..no sir…..not too good.
Oh no…McLouth, what gives?
Nova Scotia Steve
We’re going to get stung if we don’t cash these runners in!
Here we go again with a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs. THe third sraight time these fools are going to leave a runner on 3rd.
Damn we all shoulda bet Peter Paul. Woulda lost all his money thus his internet connection…
I know McClouth is a solid player, but he frustrates the hell out of me.
We are gonna lose this game if we keep blowing chances like this!!!
Gov. Clinton Tyree, I was talking about Glavine, not Smoltz. I agree it’s too early to call it for Smoltz.
Good job KJ!
Ring phone comeon!
Oh for the love of G-d. Get the run in.
July 26th, 20093:22 pm
AGAIN this team sucks at flying out …………. 2 innings in a row the worst non fundemental AB’s i have ever seen………
Way to go guys . . .
Cactus Jack: I hope they are showcasing KJ for middle relief help.
Bobby loves KJ. KJ’s not going anywhere. First time Prado stumbles, even slightly, you’ll see LOTS of KJ at second base. Wait and see…
Third wasted lead-off man so far.
If all you bloggers think Casey Kotchman is giving The Braves ideal production at first base, then I guess I’m stupid. I got to believe they can do better than 4 home runs and 35 rbi.
AHHHHH!!!! Another wasted opportunity.
should be 3 – 0. Wasting opportunities, no excuses for this!
Sigh Martin was one batter too late.
Wonder how that glare they were talking about is affecting things.
Our Offensive performance in Innings like this realyy Pisses me off!
Nice flyball Prado… if you had been up a batter earlier! The Bravos deserve to lose when they are playing like this.
Did anyone except these no-hitting fools to get the runner in from third. Every team in the majors can do it but the Braves!!!!!!!!
Looks like Prado is coming back down to earth a bit. Still a solid player but he’s not going to win a batting title, people.
CARROLL any trade talks?
July 26th, 20093:23 pm
all that situational hitting that was scoring all those runs in the previous games and the first game of this series … seems to have been forgotten
Braves should be leading 3-0, instead Lowe only has 1 to work with.
This Frick award winner…not sure what to think of him.
McLouth has to make contact in that situation, Bobby should change the game plan we should just act like we have a bunch of power hitters why bunt or move runners over if were just gonna leave them there it should 3-0 at the least its a complete joke Nate get 3 pitches right there
July 26th, 20093:24 pm
Oh well, the mini-run was nice for a couple of weeks anyway. Back to our old tricks for the rest of the year ….looks like.
Lets get ‘em in ‘10!
I like Kotchman’s defense and will take his production where it is now….
July 26th, 20093:25 pm
KJ doubled and Prado left him on. KJ needs to start, cut Prado.
We have left too many runners in scoring position. We are keeping the Brewers around. We should have a 3-0 lead right now. It’s not like Lowe is dominating the Brew Crew.
This game is lost right now. No way will we win this game after blowing so many scoring chances.
Good thing Infante is coming back soon cause i think Prado is gonna go back to being a good bench player
Where has the situational hitting gone thats what has won us alot of ballgames should be 3-0 instead its 1-0 big difference well see if it will hurt us.
Yeah, sometimes Bobby will give him the DGANG off even before an off day, but I think with Chipper sitting, he figured he had to get BMac in there.
BravesFaninMD said, McCann is the HEART of this team… I heart McCann
I’m with you!
Is there speculation that they’re gonna close the roof?? No! Don’t do it! It’s not gonna rain…
Johnson’s stock needs boosting. But not for giving him away. But if management has a real commitment to Prado, and the OF will soon enough be home to Schafer and Heyward (and McLouth and Diaz), where does Johnson fit in?
I doubt he’d want to be a backup, and I doubt he’s suited to the role. Hence, he’s likely a trade enhancer at some point.
Brewers get their lead off guy on for the first time today
July 26th, 20093:26 pm
Nice to see the Brew Crew suck at the basics too!
you r right richie!!! 3-0 this game CANNOT be lost it will hurt!
FIRE TPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP LOL
I think that Bob Uecker is more famous for his role in the Major League movies and those old Miller Lite commercials than he was for playing baseball.
Craig “Garden Gnome” Counsell is coming up!!!!
July 26th, 20093:27 pm
It’s actually amazin’….how poorly major league players bunt…
This Frick Award winner has totally lost me…he is all over the place.
Is there stats for the team with the highest number of times they do not score with a runner on third and less than two outs? I have no doubt the Braves lead the majors.
If the Phillies get Halladay the division will be rapped up by Aug 15th.
Good DP we needed That!
July 26th, 20093:28 pm
Nice twin bagger! Move Chipper to 1B and play Prado at 3B
Yay! I missed that reverse psych. Mixxo. I’m telling you – IT WORKS.
Anybody see that the Phillies offered Carrasco, Taylor, Donald and Happ and the Jays turned it down? Good for them. They seem set on Brown and Drabek, that seems certain. I’d figure a package of Brown, Drabek, Happ and Marson/Donald would get it done…
DOB on now.
DOB coming up now on MLB Network
DOB on MLB Network now!!!
The sinker is working today. 5 shutout innings so far. 67 pitches.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
