what’s the name of that famous piece of music they keep playing here on the organ? it’s the same music they played during Bugs Bunny, when he was giving Elmer Fudd a hair cut – as well as tossing a salad and laying some bricks on his head. Somebody put me out of my misery?
Tomahawkin….. I think the Nats here might take a chance on KJ. He reminds me of Langerhans… always seemed to have potential but never quite made the leap but would probably still make it on some clubs. He has outstayed his welcome in ATL though IMHO.
Kelly’s trade value is a sunkin ship, we would be lucky to just get a decent reliever for him. He is due for a riase next year and isnt playing well at all. Non Contending teams might like him but they wont give up a bullpen arm for just him. If he can have a couple good games, that might change a lil
Duh, could have answered my own question there. Thought it was some beethoven or something, but no it’s from the opera Barber of Seville. Can’t hear it without thinking of old Bugs though.
You know, I don’t really get all the hate for Langy. I guess most of it is due to low batting average (big surprise there, huh?), but when you think about it, there’s a guy that offers an average or slightly above OBP, average pop, and ++ defense. Factor in an average OBP and well above-average D, and I don’t see why this guy can’t be a good 4th OF for a team.
It would be nice if the Braves announcers discussed baseball instead of stupid c**p like what music the players like to hear when the approach the plate!!!
Over the years we have had players like Nick Green, Charles Thomas, Willie Harris, that shine over a short period of time and have been involved in trades. Conrad would have been great to keep up and getting Ab’s he is a Switch Hitter that is versital defensivly and was playing well, he could have been the player to trade. but maybe there thinking of trading KJ and then bring back Conrad

Thought that was gone, but gotta remember how good the BrewCrew’s offense is, so it’ll be a grind for him all day. Looks like he’s leaving some pitches up that were sinking his last few starts…bad, bad, bad Lowe!
I always liked Langy and lost track of him, so glad he is still playing. I think Infante will also give this team a great boost when he comes back… send Norton and KJ packin’!!

I read some comments on Hank Aaron on the last blog and thought I would weigh in. I remember a game I saw at Atlanta Fulton Co stadium once, I was maybe 11 years old, a little leaguer and in love with baseball. It was a huge deal for me, a middle Ga. county boy going to a Major League game in the big city, well Aaron hit 3 home runs that day and it was all I could talk about for a long time.
I started out in segregated schools and remember what it was like in those days but I was stunned by some of the anger directed towards Aaron when he was chasing down Ruth. I tried to tell people I knew that Aaron’s accomplishments did not diminish Ruth’s to no avail. Well anyway, Aaron was a class act then and he is one today.
One of the funny things is some of those same people were outraged by Bond’s passing Aaron for the most home runs, I tried to tell them all Bond’s had done was diminish himself. It killed me with all the young guys tell me what a great hitter Bond’s was, better than Aaron, and I would point out that if you took away all of Aaron’s homers he still had 2996 hits. That is more than Bond’s career total, 3000 hits is a sure ticket to the hall right, well if Aaron had played another week at the end of his career he would have had that plus his 755 homers.
You could make an argument Ted Williams was a better hitter than Aaron considering the years he missed because of his military commitments, maybe, just maybe.
