Can we please get a grounder through a hole?
I’m beginning to wonder if they ue trick balls in Miller Park
what’s the name of that famous piece of music they keep playing here on the organ? it’s the same music they played during Bugs Bunny, when he was giving Elmer Fudd a hair cut – as well as tossing a salad and laying some bricks on his head. Somebody put me out of my misery?
Anyone know whenDOB is scheduled to present his award?
I am the best. I could get this team to the WS, but they won’t let me bring my donkey’s to the game.
July 26th, 20092:52 pm
I really think the heir to Bobby should be Eddie. They say the dude can dish out tough love.
Carroll…that is the donkey song!!! Hee-Haw
Tomahawkin….. I think the Nats here might take a chance on KJ. He reminds me of Langerhans… always seemed to have potential but never quite made the leap but would probably still make it on some clubs. He has outstayed his welcome in ATL though IMHO.
July 26th, 20092:53 pm
Foley Is God!!!
I love the Name…
Yea Cactus Jack I like that idea too about Eddie…
July 26th, 20092:54 pm
No walks! Especially to the pitcher.
Barber of Seville
Marc from FL
The Mariners started both Ryan Langerhans and Chris Woodward a few days ago, things could be worse people.
I want Ozzie Guillen to manage this team as well
He’s was one of Bobby’s Rubberband men when he managed him in 1999
GREAT play McCann!!!!
July 26th, 20092:55 pm
Good Play B-Macc!
Kelly’s trade value is a sunkin ship, we would be lucky to just get a decent reliever for him. He is due for a riase next year and isnt playing well at all. Non Contending teams might like him but they wont give up a bullpen arm for just him. If he can have a couple good games, that might change a lil
Good play by Mac. I thought that was gonna be a hit for sure. Nice comeback from 3-0 to the pitcher.
I haven’t heard the music but one time Bugs Bunny cut Elmer Fudd’s hair with the Barber of Seville music in the background. Just a guess.
KJ CAN’T MAKE ANY PLAYS AT 2B!!!!
July 26th, 20092:56 pm
DEFINATELY trick balls
KJ dives and misses once again. I tell ya, that boy is the worse diver I’ve ever seen.
John Smoltz now has an era of 7.04
But I think KJ goes to a contending team…!
I think he goes to the Giants if they don’t get Freddie Sanchez…
Agreed, KJ just flat out stinks as a 2nd baseman. He can make even routine plays look very difficult.
July 26th, 20092:57 pm
Chino seems like a good bench coach too. Cant wait until doggie is our future pitching coach, even though i have no complaints about Roger
lol Stringbean’s up. Mixxo cracks me up.
Poor Smoltz. I hate to see him go out like that. I wish he’d just retired. Too competitive for his own good.
Duh, could have answered my own question there. Thought it was some beethoven or something, but no it’s from the opera Barber of Seville. Can’t hear it without thinking of old Bugs though.
Steve from OH
You know, I don’t really get all the hate for Langy. I guess most of it is due to low batting average (big surprise there, huh?), but when you think about it, there’s a guy that offers an average or slightly above OBP, average pop, and ++ defense. Factor in an average OBP and well above-average D, and I don’t see why this guy can’t be a good 4th OF for a team.
It would be nice if the Braves announcers discussed baseball instead of stupid c**p like what music the players like to hear when the approach the plate!!!
July 26th, 20092:58 pm
One Thing about KJ that makes him tradeable is his ability to play 3rd or Lf, Which is why I’m Banking on him getting traded within the next 5 days
Dealyed–Great play by my mann!
Another flop by KJ!!! Dive, buddy!
Over the years we have had players like Nick Green, Charles Thomas, Willie Harris, that shine over a short period of time and have been involved in trades. Conrad would have been great to keep up and getting Ab’s he is a Switch Hitter that is versital defensivly and was playing well, he could have been the player to trade. but maybe there thinking of trading KJ and then bring back Conrad
Damn that Braun! It’s hard to hate him though.
July 26th, 20092:59 pm
Go ahead and chalk another one up to KJ’s paltry defense.
They Play “Go Getta” By Jeezy and R. Kelly for Ryan Braun…
That used to be A. Jones batter intro song…
I love smoltzie, but I think he made a mistake trying to come back as a starter.
I hate Braun
But I’d Lust to see him in a braves Uni…

Big spot here… (crosses finger)
I read some comments on Hank Aaron on the last blog and thought I would weigh in. I remember a game I saw at Atlanta Fulton Co stadium once, I was maybe 11 years old, a little leaguer and in love with baseball. It was a huge deal for me, a middle Ga. county boy going to a Major League game in the big city, well Aaron hit 3 home runs that day and it was all I could talk about for a long time.
I started out in segregated schools and remember what it was like in those days but I was stunned by some of the anger directed towards Aaron when he was chasing down Ruth. I tried to tell people I knew that Aaron’s accomplishments did not diminish Ruth’s to no avail. Well anyway, Aaron was a class act then and he is one today.
One of the funny things is some of those same people were outraged by Bond’s passing Aaron for the most home runs, I tried to tell them all Bond’s had done was diminish himself. It killed me with all the young guys tell me what a great hitter Bond’s was, better than Aaron, and I would point out that if you took away all of Aaron’s homers he still had 2996 hits. That is more than Bond’s career total, 3000 hits is a sure ticket to the hall right, well if Aaron had played another week at the end of his career he would have had that plus his 755 homers.
You could make an argument Ted Williams was a better hitter than Aaron considering the years he missed because of his military commitments, maybe, just maybe.

Yes!!! That Scared My Yellow Ass!
Can we please trade KJ for Smoltz?
July 26th, 20093:01 pm
T’Hawkin – agreed. I’d love to see Braun on the Braves. Awesome hitter.
I still think John could come in for an inning and air it out. Dude is still a warrior.
Thought that was gone, but gotta remember how good the BrewCrew’s offense is, so it’ll be a grind for him all day. Looks like he’s leaving some pitches up that were sinking his last few starts…bad, bad, bad Lowe!
Gov. Clinton Tyree
Whew! Thought Prince got that one.
I always liked Langy and lost track of him, so glad he is still playing. I think Infante will also give this team a great boost when he comes back… send Norton and KJ packin’!!
Marc from FL………….I’m gonna laugh when Jesse Jane (blonde porn star) comes over and gives me a blow job.
July 26th, 20093:02 pm
Dang Phils…. (5-2 now)
Robin Yount, On The Aflac Trivia Question…
2-5 Phillies winning again Howard just hit a monster homerun
July 26th, 20093:03 pm
McCann is RIPPING it today.
Yay Mac, another 2B!
There We Go B-Macc! “This Is How We Do It!”
McCann is the HEART of this team… I heart McCann
That guy can hit or sump’n.
BMac! Future Allstar!
The ball Ryan Howard just hit went roughly 14 miles.
July 26th, 20093:04 pm
2 doubles for McCann he is back on track
B-Macc is such a better hitter when he doesn’t swing for the fences like he did the first two games of this series…
Is this the song you mean?
Rossini’s Overture from Barber of Seville
Here’s the entire overture, … The “famous part” occurs about 2 minutes in.
Gov. Clinton Tyree, we just had a guy pitch a perfect game and Fergosi said he threw in the mid 80’s for most of the game. So the idea that you have to throw hard to pitch effectively, to be a 5th starter, isn’t true.
We need Kelly Johnson to play well. First, it helps the team and that is what’s most important. Second, if he plays well it would seem his trade value would be higher than if he doesn’t.
I mean let’s face it, unless Steve from OH, is secretly the GM of another major league team, no one is going to give us much for KJ who is playing poorly. So I’m hoping to see him get on one of his patented hot streaks and then sell high.
There we go McFann, those doubles are flying at a fast pace
Lemke sounds nervous by himself… LOL
ok Loaf move em to 3rd and Diaz gets the sac fly
July 26th, 20093:06 pm
When Infante returns, he will replace Hernandez on the roster, not Norton or KJ.
Great AB by Garrett…. I wasn’t a fan at first, but he was a good sign by Wren.
Man, Loafy’s getting robbed today.
More trick balls…
Looper sucks, I remember when we used to light him up when he was closing for the mets. BANG! BANG!
Productive out for GA…
July 26th, 20093:07 pm
Good AB for Loaf worked the count and got the job done
no one is going to give us much for KJ who is playing poorly.
His value is at an all-time low, no doubt, and if this is the case, you hold on to him and try to deal him in the offseason. He’ll still provide value off the bench in the meantime. But I still can’t see how we can trade a team an above-average starter for the last two years and ask for only a reliever in return.
Didn’t get the job done Matty! Ugh.
Wasted At Bat by Matty-D, It’s Gonna be one of those days for the offense
…not a productive out for Diaz. Ugh.
July 26th, 20093:08 pm
Anyone just listen to Rickey henderson’s acceptance speech? I’m not even sure if he speaks English.
Garret Anderson hustling down the line. He was out, but there wasn’t any loafing there.
back to the basic fundementals , all we needed was a damn fly ball , there goes that easy 1 run chance
I know everyone loves Diaz, but he is not a very good player.
Wasted opportunity there.
Oh God, Here Comes the famine Offense!
July 26th, 20093:09 pm
Man, gotta get those runs in when they are sitting at 3rd! Brewers score at least 1 here I bet
Just impossible to get a ball through the holes! Does Miller Park have a smaller infield???
No More Bobby 2.
Way to go Diaz. You MF. Once again the Braves find a way to piss away a chance to score. Unbelievable.
lead off double and the other 3 guys can’t hit it out of the infield
Anyone just listen to Rickey henderson’s acceptance speech?
I liked it. I thought he was very gracious and, despite a few grammatical snafus, had some good things to say.
Co-Sign! On your last post!
July 26th, 20093:10 pm
The other thing about Smoltz is, in 25 innings he’s struck out 22 and walked 4. So the stuff’s there, he’s just getting cuffed around…location and late movement might be in and out.
runners on base being left on are going to come back and haunt us.
Prado and Matt have missed shots…to move and push runners…Matty D is good…but he is a softball player…i think u cannot count him for tough moments its kind of strange but he is not that reliable
there is the Baves’s offense we all know and love
Edward( Bobby Retires after 2009 or Bust )
July 26th, 20093:11 pm
Kotchman is the worst excuse for a baseball player that ever lived.
Holliday is tearing it up
Just takes KJ to get back for the offense to go back to their norm.
That’s how ya dive, KJ. Learn from king Escobar!
