I know one thing when the braves do have a good chance to get a big inning we always settle on 1 run cause we cant move runners over or hit into double plays or have baserunning mistakes, The double plays have been down since Jeff was traded tho
Another seeing eye groundball for the crew. Ugh
We need to start getting “String Bean” out dangit!
‘ol smoltzie getting slapped around pretty good so far by Baltimore…
Nova Scotia Steve
Counsell looks like a Garden Gnome
July 26th, 20092:26 pm
Salamander, I’m aware of that.
What am I, an idiot?
Allowing the fake throw to 3B….is probably the ‘dumbest’ rule in baseball…I would do it on every other pitch… with runners on 1st and 3rd….nothin’ to lose…especially with a runner that MIGHT run on 1B….If pitchers would do it enough…baseball would HAVE to change the rule !!
July 26th, 20092:27 pm
I gotta admit Counsell at 39 is a good ballplayer, he plays hard every game and can play alot of positions and he is doing well, considering most people say he is a utility guy
July 26th, 20092:28 pm
Is It Me or Does Prince Fielder Remind Me of the Rapper “Twista”?
i am not watching the game, but i can’t believe we fell for that crap again…my word!
Gov. Clinton Tyree
TOUGH pitch to get Braun by Lowe.
The bloggers who crucified Frank Wren for not resigning John Smoltz are awfully quiet today. Is there any chance we can revisit their comments from last February?
“Hoe(s) sit down!”
July 26th, 20092:29 pm
That Craig Counsell is an annoying little fly. He’s always buzzing around.
Mitchell – you’re the one who wrote that Escobar might not have scored, so you tell me.
Did D Lowe step off so the butterfly would go away? Haha
No jason, it wasn’t faked to 3rd, it was faked to the batter at home plate. Looked like a balk to me…
Okay Braves, how about you score five runs so we can all stop squabbling over the first inning?
Is In the House, Stealing My Phrases…! LOL
It’s Not Cool when you say it…! lol
July 26th, 20092:30 pm
DLowe, baby. Puttin’ the hurt on Braun and Fielder.
Salamander, I’m gonna got make a sandwhich.
bobby gave kudos to counsell last night when i asked about him, basically that he plays the game hard and right and does the little things it takes to win. ….might not be glamorous but dang if it’s not effective.
Good Start for Lowe
OMG-bring back Smoltz and Glavine. Vazquez and Lowe are bust
July 26th, 20092:31 pm
Come on Cards… (down 3-1)
You need to hear that Song “Hoe Sit Down” It’s so stupid, Its Funny…Its On youtube…!
But its a good party song…Me and a Bunch of College Football players used to get Crunk to it
I know, I know. Not as cool as you T’Hawkin. Had to say it though.
July 26th, 20092:32 pm
In paying attention to the Phillies here over the last 2-3 weeks, I’ve had a lot of bad thoughts about what it will be like for our bullpen to try and shut down their offense the last few innings of games in CBP.
Thankfully, we only have 3 games left this season in Philadelphia.
If the pitcher does the ‘fake throw” often enough…the runner on 1B can’t possibly get any kind of jump from 1B…has to wait til the pitch is almost delivered…so…do it enough… and NOBODY will run on the pitch…actually it’s even worth doin’ with 3-2 and 2 outs…cuts down a couple of steps on the runner at 1B…DUMB rule…
Anybody has any links?
July 26th, 20092:33 pm
I’ve always like Counsell as a player, if more player were like him the sport would be alot better. Sick of seeing no huslting and no heart from most of the players in this sport
Tomahawkin…ist Crunk a cross between high on crank and drunk? (:
Kelly’s more upright. See that?
July 26th, 20092:34 pm
brent a I don’t see us catching Phillies at all. They will easily win the East.
“Get him in there and get some at bats” … Kelly is Joe’s new Frenchy.
July 26th, 20092:35 pm
haha first AB back and already looks the exact same…….
…there’s the KJ we all know…
Smoltz and Glavine are making Wren look like Einstein
I think Frank Wren Is Auditioning KJ so that he can get traded within a few days…
He Gets Traded for a middle Riliever, “Bank On It!”
KJ is my boy but he needs a change of scenery, Bad!
Exploding split from Looper to get Johnson. Helluva pitch.
Bet Conrad woulda looked bad on that one, too.
You Damn Right Playa…!
July 26th, 20092:36 pm
I’m hoping Kelly has a good game…I think Prado needed a day off…plus he’ll get tomorrow off…
This is a good thing for him I believe
Salamander @ 2:24–
At least we’re not the Atlanta Black Crackers…cause they couldn’t hit S&it
kj with a little AC action there
July 26th, 20092:37 pm
Conrad and Infante and Barbarosa need to replace Norton and Diory and Johnson the team would be alot better
At one time …I didn’t think McLouth could ever be much of a leadoff hitter…but lately he’s looking much better at it…and taking a bunch of close pitches…

Vabravesfan – That Csey Kotchman is a stud at first base. Those 4 home runs and .385 slugging percentage are awesome production. Thanks for teaching me everything about him
July 26th, 20092:38 pm
Jason In Fl
Its a Cross between being High on Chronic and Drunk..
Chronic and Drunk =’s Crunk…
That would be Cool if anyone ran into D.O.B. and he was Crunk…!
lol J/K D.O.B.
Great play by Prado… he’s carrying this team.
Kelly is Joe’s new Frenchy.RHR
Actually, have you noticed the DEEP love for Medlen lately?
July 26th, 20092:39 pm
I didnt say anything and Kotchman?
Lowe’s sinker looks like it is working.
McFann – haven’t gone through all the comments yet so not sure if you already said anything about it but how do you feel about B-Mac starting a day game after a night game?
July 26th, 20092:40 pm
KJ actually made a play for a change….
I hate to agree with what N Nine said but it’s true. They can’t lose. They don’t need Halladay to win the east, they’ll win it with Happ Hamels Moyer and whoever those other guys are. Their offense and their high school field is more than enough to make up for their lack of starting pitching. Braves have to have both good pitching and good offense to win for whatever reason. Maybe if we had started the season with the regular lineup we have now we’d be in the thick of it but unfortunately we had to wait out the 2 month Jeff and Kelly experiment. At least it didn’t last all season, I guess.
Eight hits and five runs in four innings from Smoltz.
Looks like one surgery too many.
Blogging/Partying With Me “Makes Your Monkey Ass Famous”
Same For RHR
Woooo, Damn I’m on a roll today…Lets Go Braves!!!!
Anyone want to bet against Kelly going 0 for 4 today?
July 26th, 20092:41 pm
vabravesfan – revist your comments from 3 months ago when you called him a 90 rbi man and a gold glover. Someone used your logon name
replace your divots…
Steve from OH
I sure hope not. Better get more back than just that.
July 26th, 20092:42 pm
Gerut was hitting .188 before that double….
Paul… I ain’t taking that bet! KJ is the weakest player by far and needs to go!
Robert, kiss my a$$.
Robert…you’re the donk. Don’t you get that yet?
July 26th, 20092:43 pm
There’s someone named Medlen on the team? Who knew!
There’s not a chance in he__ that Donkey Cox even knows who Craig Counsell IS – So asking him about Counsell was a waste of time. He was gonna give you some “Hee-Haw” answer (which he did)
Please give us meaningful information. What an idiot thinks of another team’s utility players doesnt qualify
July 26th, 20092:44 pm
I think we should wait awhile before go throw dirt on John Smoltz’s career. Let’s see how he’s pitching come the last 6 weeks of the season.
I’m mad that he left, but I not convinced he’s done. Need more time to decide that, just like we needed more time before calling it a season for the Braves.
there is another guy up here named VABrave4Life
I do think Kotchman should win the gold glove and he is only a 280. 10 hr 60ish rbi type of hitter.
Barborosa would give us more power but less hits and downgrade defense as well.
i cant take it anymore
so glad The Wren didn’t give smoltz 5M. He would have to be in the pen in our rotation.
Nice call, Frank. Job well done. However, smoltz, hudson, gonzo, and soriano sounds pretty nice
July 26th, 20092:45 pm
I hope the BoSox drop Smoltzie and he comes back all apologetic to Atlanta…. I hated the way he left.
Marc from FL
Robert, stop acting like such a woman, I demand this of you!
Robert…how about what an idiot(you) thinks about the Braves? None of us care what you have to say, but we’re stuck with you. Maybe one day you will actually have something relevant to say.
Has Tommy Glavine’s phone rung yet?
July 26th, 20092:46 pm
I will Raise Ya One…!
KJ Gets Traded this upcoming week for a middle reliever, “Bank On It!”
We Need Another reliever with 3 of our guys coming off surgery withing the last 2 years and are not ready for the long run of August and September….
Our relivers have been abused enough!
And KJ Needs a change of scenery…!
I was listening to a Red Sox broadcast not too long ago. The Sox announcers were talking about the possibility of Smoltzie getting released or moving to the bullpen.
Braves might need another middle relief arm, …
dice hit lowe
DLowe nice hit
July 26th, 20092:47 pm
Kirk, of course you’re right…but early returns don’t look good. Combine that with Glavine’s low 80s velocity and Hanson’s first eight starts, and Wren looks like a guy unafraid to take the heat for unpopular, tough decisions.
He clearly made the right ones with Glavine, Smoltz and Hanson.
Robert, stop acting like such a woman,
I’m insulted by this.
My name is Robert and I am obsessed with donkey’s.
July 26th, 20092:48 pm
Steve From Oh
I hope we at least get a Decent middle Reliever and a Minor leaguer…
But KJ’s Market value has fell off a lot and he is gonna get a decent raise next year…That works against us…
feel free to comment…
I love donkey’s!!!!
For all the Cox’s (i.e. – feeble minded)who want to declare John Smoltz to be done. He has 22K’s and all of 4 walks in 25-some innings. That’s hardly the inside numbers of someone who is done
Now, think up some excuses for Bozo the Clown and watch the game (you might learn something, if you avoid watching what Cox does)
I am a bigger loser than Paul Lentz!!! I win!! I win!!!
July 26th, 20092:49 pm
If Smoltz gets released he will not come back to Atlanta this year. I know people who have dealt with this guy in the business community. His ego will not allow him to admit he is wrong. John Smoltz is about John Smoltz
hey what ever happened to Ned Yost? Is he still in baseball? I still think he may be the heir apparent to Cox… I love Cox except when he brings in his A relievers (Gonzo, Soriano) with 5-run leads…
If you listen to me you will always be right!!! I love donkeys!!!
July 26th, 20092:50 pm
Hey! D-Lowe hits better than G.Norton PERIOD! In fact I think he actually hits better than a few braves…this offense is pretty strange…Warning track power! only gets hits, has no speed…dont hit much with RISP
Yeah, if we got a good prospect back it would be more defensible for sure, but if you’re gonna trade them a starting position player than has been, over his career, above average with the bat (which, given his position, is more valuable), I’d hope that we’d be able to get more than just a reliever, if you get my drift…
I’d want a good prospect back, definitely.
I kissed a donkey once!!!
C’mon Lowe…. shut em down!
I’m gonna laugh when KJ hits a 2 run homer and we win the game by one run, just watch.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
