where is a RH pitcher
That was a strike.
Am I the only one who doesn’t really like O’Flaherty?
He has all these stats I guess that are impressive but I haven’t seen a whole from the guy to be overwhelmed.
1 walk for Bennett
Oh yeah, he’s ready.
Bobby Cox needs to go get him NOW!
July 25th, 20099:51 pm
This is where I could choke Bobby. He leaves these relievers out there way too long sometimes. 10 straight pitches for balls and he leaves him to rot on the mound. He’s going to let him walk the first 3 batters he faces? Really?
Anybody else smell 3-run tater right here for Hardy?
No, it’s just the unis
Oh hai Bobby.
Nova Scotia Steve I see that you fearhate Braun:
ok Hanson needs to stay away from Ryan Braun 7:21
Ryan Braun again huh7:57
Braun looks locked in against Hanson 7:58
It totally looked like Braun went around on that pitch!8:01
Great so Braun again huh 8:13
I hate this douchebag – Braun 8:44
PHEW–we got your point…good thing Braun was only 1-4, blog got saved for that reason…thank you Mr. Braun
Why is O’Flaherty facing 3 straight right handed batters anyway. Bad bullpen usage from Cox.
July 25th, 20099:52 pm
lol, it’s always so fun when the pen comes in and puts the game so far out of reach you can’t even think about coming back anymore
Nova Scotia Steve
Ok so we’re going to bring in Moylan to walk AT LEAST two guys in to score now…Sounds like a Bobby Cox move
Eric’s off. Was hoping to hold ‘em right here, if they score any more……we’re done.
You cant really blame Bobby for this. O’Flaherty just didnt have it tonight. Bobby did the right thing in bringing in O’Flaherty. Dude just couldnt throw strikes. It happens.
Nolie @ 8:19pm – my point was not very clearly made (my fault). Scouting reports are expert opinions, but no one “scouting report” should be taken as gospel fact.
For example, one scout offered an anonymous assessment of Jimmy Rollins I saw a little earlier this year to a baseball writer (Nick Carfado I think) and speculated that he may be “done.” If anyone saw today’s game against the Cards or has seen the stats he has put up in July, I think that line of thought has been put to rest.
As it relates to Happ, the scouting report in this blog reads like a young Tom Glavine in terms of stuff … so is that scouting report wrong about Happ’s long-term future in a rotation, or is Happ going to come crashing back to earth? Honestly, we don’t know yet.
Finally, is that scouting report a consensus view? Because if the Phillies really think Happ’s a back of the rotation guy, they’re stupid for not tossing him in with Drabek and whatever prospect to get Halladay immediately.
July 25th, 20099:53 pm
Whattya think Bobby just said to EOF when he took him out? SIX didn’t look happy.
Why did he need to see him walk all the bases loaded?
Wasn’t one enough? Or two?
My bet is they get a run and we get two in the 9th and lose.
I like EOF Mitchell but he didn’t have it tonight, that was clear when he walked the first guy. K’ on Fielder is fantastic, then walk one guy ok fine but when you go 3-0 on the next guy? Um hook? Maybehaps?
July 25th, 20099:54 pm
So i guess Braun is coming up again soon right —–N Nine
A bunch of guys were standing around at an old baseball managers funeral when an older woman walked up and asked “If you don’t mind telling me what killed him”. One of the guys said ” bases on balls, Mam, bases on balls.
Yes, Manny. Now we’re saved.
July 25th, 20099:55 pm
I feel a Jeff Bennett to A-Rod comin’ on.
GA showcasing the cannon.
Professional throw to the cut off man from our LF…Who ever that is out there
July 25th, 20099:56 pm
This is on Cox’s bullpen management

well that should kill any opportunity for a comeback
1-2-3 9th I’d guess
Garrett showed a pretty decent arm on that throw.
Freaking ground ball had eyes on that one. Not much you can do there.
well, i reckin you can’t win em all, but DURN, you’d done expect them to show a little dern fight up er against them ole stankin brewers! heck fire! 4 to 0 and im drunk and ANGRY!
July 25th, 20099:57 pm
Sigh. No luck tonight.
Nickel-and-dimed us to death.
See Cox, you can warm up your closer and then not use them.
No, these guys aren’t good.
Manny and O’Flaherty are not quality relievers.
It’s not Bobby.
July 25th, 20099:58 pm
Offense just didnt have it today. Looks like Hanson gets a taste of what its been like for our other pitchers this year. Pitch a solid game for the win, and the offense hands you a pile of poop!
Throw a damn strike.
McLouth of the South
July 25th, 20099:59 pm
Boy EOF came in carrying the gas can tonight… wonder what Bobby said to him on the mound? Didn’t look friendly…
July 25th, 200910:00 pm
Braves baseball or “The Bill Engvall Show”?
The frustrating part is that with all our great play….WE CANT GAIN ANY F’IN GAMES ON THE PHILS!
They’ll prob’ly stick with the lefty, now.
they’ll lose that game gained in both the WC and Division yesterday, try to come back tomorrow and win the series
July 25th, 200910:01 pm
why some of ya’ll just a bound and determined to bash on ole’ Cox fer? makes not a dang bit of sense if ya’ll were to go and ask me. this is just one of them doggon games that’ll make ya punch a hole in the wall but whatcha gonna do.
Crap, Stetter’s on my fantasy team.
Glad the camera got a got shot of him scratching his butt
I still say Manny looks like one of the Wayans brothers
July 25th, 200910:02 pm
the bullpen kills the Braves in games like this. Especially last year, but also this year, all too frequently they give up late runs making it impossible to come back
Can Wren pull off a miracle and get a bat and a reliever at the deadline without using uber prospects?
July 25th, 200910:03 pm
an easy first out
WHY CAN’T HE HIT LEFTIES ANYMORE???
I still think Prado should have been bunting in the first inning.
Alright, when’s the first mention of TP gonna be? I say 10:30
July 25th, 200910:04 pm
a really easy 2nd out
To bad we already burned Greg Norton. He’s the only one who could save us right now.
Can we burn these uniforms please?
July 25th, 200910:05 pm
another example of mismanagement by our fearless leader cox.. it just blows my mind.. ok O’flaherty strikes out fielder. ok he walks cameron no big deal.. ok when u watch him walk 2 in a row.. HELLOO YOU get him out of the game…just sick.. again we lose that game we gained on the phillies again.. O’ Flaherty is a good reliever if used right, situations hello.. and those uniforms come on they look awful.. thats ur ballgame folks. yovani gallardo schools the braves and tommy loses his first game..
July 25th, 200910:06 pm
July 25th, 200910:07 pm
Ugh. They find every hole; we ground out over and over and over…
I believe both teams will just be glad to get outta those uniforms…
and the brewers just suck. tuck in there jerseys and leave um tucked until u get into the clubhouse u drunkards. its really cool …
We had our chances.
They got three cheap little hits.
I hope Derek Lowe aces it up tomorrow. Is he even still our ace? Can’t believe we lost with Tommy. Not a good feeling.
You know we’re not winning with KK vs. Josh Johnson. Better win tomorrow.
OMG!!! GARRETT ANDERSON SUCKS SO BAD I TOTALLY HATE HIM!! Why won’t he throw to home plate?! I’m taking my fRustration out on the keyboard! I totally just boke the “R key. So fRom now on, I’ll substitute “R” with “F”.
Gaffett Andefson gets on my nefves so bad, man…I can’t believe he nevef thfows to home plate! ANd don’t look now!!! He stfikes out AGAIN!!!!! What a looser!
No Love from the baseball Gods tonight.
Edward( Bobby Retires after 2009 or Bust )
Why do I have the bad feeling of the Braves did just enough to tease the front office into not selling?
July 25th, 200910:08 pm
Lets win the series at least.
July 25th, 200910:09 pm
BMac’s double wasn’t so cheap.
Hanson goes 7 strong innings gives up 2 hard fought runs and then
the pen comes in, walks 3 gives up 1 hit and they score two. That’s why I hate sub-par bullpen pitchers … they do stuff like that in less than half the time Tommy pitched and yet Hanson is the one who takes the loss
McFann – have you seen the B-Mac Spotlight yet? If not, it’s on next after the post-game stuff. At least that’s what my dish guide says.
July 25th, 200910:10 pm
well, don’t ever listen to me and my good feelings…it is awfully quiet on the trade front as well…
Anybody notice that Francouer was 2 for 4, with an HR tonight driving in four of the Mets’ ten runs in their win over Houston…..just sayin’
I think it’s time my boy Kelly Johnson gets a bit of action…who’s with me !!
July 25th, 200910:11 pm
Churchman, Hanson took the loss because the Braves didnt score any runs of Gallardo. Thats why
I think it’s time fof Bfian McCann to fide the pine fof a few days…he’s feally stinking it up lately!
What a looser!!
runs OFF Gallardo is what I meant
July 25th, 200910:12 pm
Thanks! I’ve seen most of it.
Why must they always put it on at weird times?
July 25th, 200910:13 pm
The uniform situation is somewhat interesting.
I remember thinking “I hope they wear the gray jerseys tomorrow.”
I think they should stick with those. I wouldn’t think they would have gone to the blue after a win like that. Something about different jerseys like.
Like the Bulldogs doing the blackout with the black tops against Alabama. Bad idea. You have to be very careful with that stuff.
He’s not a looser…or a loser for that matter.
Greg in TN
Shut down tonight by a guy that had a nasty curve. It happens. Get to actually see the Spotlight on Brian McCann feature now that Francoeur is in NY.
I’m sick of hearing about Fracoeur and what a good or bad night he’s had!!!!
He plays for the Mets, he’s dead to me, and aint coming back. So PLEASE stop giving Francoeur updates! Thanks
July 25th, 200910:14 pm
Overheard at a plastic surgeon’s office:
Doctor: “Well, folks, what size cup were you looking for?”
Husband: “We always buy in bulk. How much per gallon?”
edward( Bobby Retires after 2009 or Bust )…selling? what the hell? dude, they were 2.5 games out of the wc coming into tonight? selling? seriously? the way the team is playing? still only 3.5 games out of the wc? really? wow.
July 25th, 200910:15 pm
Later then….see yas tomorrow.
Gotta love keeping Norton over Brooksie, steeerike 3, lets see average is approaching .100, great veteran move Booby, yeah we needed to keep him for sure!!!
July 25th, 200910:16 pm
I’d like some cold, hafd, facts to back up that useless afgument…he totally suuuuuuxxxxxx!!
Just keep sayin’ whatever you want about Jeff. I don’t miss him.
July 25th, 200910:17 pm
I see Heyward had another good night, as well as Freeman.
Cody J hit his 26th bomb of the season tonight. That kid has unreal power. He needs a lot more seasoning & is not as far along as the other two, but he has amazing raw power & hopefully can put it all together.
I see there is starting to be a bit of media buzz about Heyward coming up later in the season if the team needs a bat. Anyone agree with this? I’m on the fence myself, leaning against it, but if he continues his good work it may be hard to argue against bringing him up.
I’m sure this isn’t even an option unless the Braves are in the race. It’s just nice to know the future is getting closer & closer. We are getting a nice dose of it this season with Tommy Hanson.
July 25th, 200910:18 pm
OMG!!!!! I’m so made I’m breaking all the keys except the f!!!!!
ffff! fff fffff ff fff? ffff ffff, ffffff. fffff ffff ff fff fffff ff ffff ff f!
Alright. Everyone, me included, needs to remember that going into this series we were happy getting 2 of 3. We can do that tomorrow.
July 25th, 200910:19 pm

Well now, unfortunately the Braves decided to trade him to a division rival so he won’t go away. I assume you are one of the folks that posted here that Francoeur was the worst thing that ever played right field and it really bothers you when you hear these numbers.
Nate leads off with a hit. He should have been bunted over. I had an unpleasant feeling after that one.
Nothing against Martin but I think they should have at least tried to bunt.
Gallardo is just the new Ben Sheets to the Braves. Just be glad they Brewers are not in the NL East. There is always a pitcher or two that just shuts down the Braves & he’s becoming one of them.
July 25th, 200910:20 pm
cabravesfan – sad that I fell asleep before the end of the game last night, but made it through this one. I am going to move in the direction of bed right now … (fill in the dots). Have a great night, and behave yourself!
July 25th, 200910:21 pm
Or, rather, try smilin’. Try? Please, try.
Good Night! Sorry you won’t be around tomorrow…I’ll miss you
July 25th, 200910:23 pm
Based on his numbers he is one of the ten WORST hitters in baseball among everyday players…
Good riddance to him!
July 25th, 200910:25 pm
Dude…he’s a 4-time All-Star after 4 full seasons…he’s hitting .300 for the third time in his career…he’s put up numbers comparable to Johnny Bench throughout his career…he’s won two Silver Sluggers…he’s struggled a little this year, but the dude has had some trouble with his eyes.
Why don’t you come up with some facts to back up your argument.
