The home plate umpire is making Barry Zito look like the Barry Zito………… the Cy Young Award winning Barry Zito who was able to parlay his Oakland success into a 7 year, $126 mil contract from the Giants.
Actually to all of you saying Kotchman never comes through, you are wrong. He has a 315. average with RISP and a 430. OBP. With 2 outs and RISP he is hitting 382. with a 523. OBP. Most of you base everything on the last at bat.
Damn offense disappeared overnight. I knew once I saw todays lineup that we wouldnt score any runs, and lo and behold, we have 1 run against a guy that came in with an ERA near 5. Stop messing with the lineup Bobby
Am I the only one who questions Bobby’s bullpen usage? Why would he take out Medlan for Gonzalez in a tie game with the pitchers spot due up the next inning, and Medlan having not thrown that many pitches. Moves like this not only increase appearances for guys like Gonzalez who are already tops in the league, but it burns through the bullpen as well. I love the Braves but I keep thinking Bobby needs to take Bullpen Management 101
Medlen should have stayed in. Pitcher spot up next, a tie game that could go extra innings and they are using up the bullpen. Who can they stretch out if they game goes long????
Is Bobby drunk? Why would he double switch with Johnson, taking out Prado? Why wouldn’t he take out Church, move Diaz to right and put Anderson in left? He’s still going to have to use a pinch hitter next inning. His managing this inning makes NO sense
If I were Frank Wren, I’d be dialing up Minnesota and seeing what they would be willing to part with for Kelly Johnson. The Twins have had terrible production at 2B and while I know KJ had a tough first half, he’s shown big league ability at the plate and he’s healthy now. Could be a good match for a trade. Then the Braves could bring Conrad back up. The deal wouldn’t necessarily have to return someone who is major league ready, just some value at a position they aren’t covered at like 2B is now.
Wasting a pitcher in an obvious bunting situation. Removing one of your hottest hitters to move the pitcher’s spot two spots in the order; when that pitcher is not going to pitch another inning? Making sure the opposing manager has a couple of left-handed in a row to make his job easier? More great managing!
The Giants have tried to give the Braves 2 outs and they refuse to take them resulting in 2 free baserunners and a run and another bunt opportunity sloppy baseball that might cost us an important game.
