If it was left up to me I would alter the lineup and bat Esco(our leading RBI man) in the cleanup spot with Brian batting 5th followed by GA in the 6th slot.

For the record - I am not a fan of Gonzalez at all.

This guy makes Mitch Williams look like Mariano Rivera.

I've been perfectly happy not feeling the need to criticize Bobby for the better part of a week and I know he just got ejected but I'm not sure what he only used O'Flaherty for two batters and then when to the guy who should only be pitching with a ten run lead.

I know the Giants can't hit the ball but if they could have cashed in on any of the multiple opportunites to score we'd be looking at a 6-2 homestand.

Let's just get some damn runs for F*s sake.

David O'Brien..................this should have been a NO BRAINER by Bobby Cox. I would care less about Greg Norton being out of options. The Braves should have cut him and eaten the rest of his prorated 2009 salary (approximately $330,864) and kept Brooks Conrad. I'd rather see the Braves eat his salary........then keep him and have Norton cost us games because he cant deliver in important pinch hitting situations.

HuffBraves............Hearing talk like "if we get rid of Norton and he goes somewhere and catches fire, then we will regret it"..... to me, is "coward talk". I prefer to focus on the positives that keeping Brooks Conrad brings us if we kept him on our bench.

If Norton were to latch on to a team like the Rockies or Phillies, I'd love for him to come up and face us in an important pinch hitting situation. I felt that same way about the Jeff Francoeur trade. After the trade was announced I heard people saying "How could Frank Wren trade him within the division? We will have to face him 18 times a year and he will make us pay for it.

Hell, I want the Braves to face him 18 times a year. I'm looking forward to it. I see no downside to it.

I guess that it comes down to how you see things. Kind of like "is the glass half full...or....half empty". 2 people can see the same thing, yet come to 2 different conclusions.

Quit moaning about Conrad...how many AB's did he get since the All-star break...we will call him up in sept.....if you boneheads want to trade KJ you need him to play, get hot and have some value ...otherwise who wants him? If you let go of Norton you never get him back. Give him more AB's and lets see if he improves. If not cut him later on. People act like sending down Conrad is going to ruin this team...chill out already!!

Roman Gal, were you ever able to calculate the ear-size of a R-Gal/Schafer offspring?

If not, I crammed all night crunching numbers to find a solution.

Here are my scientific results:

One solution stands-out as most logical, for you, Schafer, and the potentially huge auditory receptors of any lovechild. Ear-reduction surgery.

First, such surgery would eliminate obsessive ear-envy that wrecks lives and tears households asunder. Secondly, it would lighten the load and reduce aerodynamic drag on Schafer, transforming him from a medium-risk base-stealing threat to a full-blown base-swiping phenom. Thirdly, if tissue taken from one of Michael Jackson's ears was sufficient to patch his teentsy little nose, just consider the benefit to mankind Schafers slabs could bring. If he were to donate all that ear meat, you'd never again see an ugly nose! Cosmetic surgeons would offer free nose-jobs to reduce ear-tissue inventory! The idea of global warming would be more readily accepted due to the loss-of-shade effect caused by Schafer's earectomy!

As far as the child goes, well, maybe I'd just leave him/her alone. Maybe they too can change the world someday... Maybe there'll even be a benefit concert in their honor; I can see it now!

""LIVE EARS"", featuring the Lionel Richie song none of us will ever forget, "We Are The Ears."

Hope this helps Roman-Gal, I gave it my all...

HuffBraves...............I'll answer your the question that you pondered in your 11:26am posting (C’mon guys, is the Conrad demotion really going to make or break this season?).

Sometimes a game comes down to who is available to pinch hit in a key spot. Saturday against the Mets was a CLASSIC example of that. Bases loaded, 2 outs, score 2-1 Mets, bottom of the 8th. Because of Bobby's mismanagement of the pinch runners earlier in the game........he only had Great "Mr. .111" Norton available to pinch hit. I would have MUCH RATHER seen Brooks Conrad up there. He has delivered a couple of times already in his short time with the Braves as a pinch hitter. If he gets a hit there, it's the ball game because Rafael Soriano comes in to pitch the 9th instead of Manny Acosta.

Brooks Conrad hit a pinch hit 3 run homer in his first at-bat with the Braves to help up win a game. Do you really think that we that game if Greg Norton had come to the plate in that situation?

So to answer your question, a move like that (demoting Conrad instead of cutting Norton) could very easily come back and cost the Braves BIG TIME.

It just isnt one move that is the issue here. It's a PATTERN Bobby's guys being given the nod over more productive players. In a few weeks, you are going to see it continue with Jeff Bennett and Buddy Carlyle. I'm only going by the EXTENSIVE track record of what has happened in the past.
