I think the world of Vazquez, but that trade was far from a fleecing. Tyler Flowers had an OPS of right at 1 before he got promoted to AAA the other day. He looks to be a great one. We won the trade but it’s not Jurrjens for Renteria by any stretch.

First 2 batters, Linecum strikes them out. Then……Chipper pokes a single, steals second, and McCann pokes another single for a 1-0 lead.
I think that the key to this inning was the fact that even though the first 2 guys struck out, both McLouth and Prado worked the count. The hitters behind them were able to see what Linecum was throwing.

I think Schuerholz retired because he didn’t want to make the tough decisions regarding Glavine and Maddux. Wren deserves credit for allowing Glavine and Smoltz to move on

McLouth of the South…………..did you even read that posting? I didnt say that they got hits because “Prado too a pitch”. Linecum threw 11 pitches to the first 2 hitters. Chipper and the guys was able to get a good look at what Linecum was gonna be throwing early.

Bill Simmons said that the Indians wanted Bucholz for Martinez and the Sox wouldn’t do it so they went to plan B – which was …. Roachy?

Rob from SC………..Frank Wren is the GM. However, when it comes to the really big decisions (like cutting Tom Glavine and trading Jeff Francoeur) you can best your last dollar that Frank Wren got the ok from Schuerholtz. You can imagine that Bobby Cox was not an easy sell on those moves.

Good point…I thought the same thing for the longest time…that coupled with the fact he was GM for a long long time as you know and the run was over.
Scheurholz still has A LOT to do with day to day baseball operations of the Braves.
He is the President…So doesn’t any transaction also have to be approved by Scheurholz as well?

Interesting article from BA on which prospects are “untouchable”. However I think it’s focused on the value that certain prospect has to it’s organization. I haven’t read anything that would suggest Brad Holt is an “untouchable”, but for the pitching starved Mets, possibly.

Thanks Louisville Brave, I guess that is the feed they were using for channel surfing.net. I tried it a couple of years ago and it sucked. What I have seen recently has been pretty good. I may have to sign up.

This Giants line-up is really scuffling. If Jair Jurrjens can avoid the big pitch count innings…..then hopefully he can have the shutout going through 7 innings, in which Bobby can use Gonzalez in the 8th and Soriano in the 9th to take this bad boy.
