Braves should send Norton down for Kelly, and call him back up again in September if he doesn’t do bad in AAA. I would have trouble believing that Norton wouldn’t be OK with that, because I don’t think he’d be able to get a job anywhere at this point. Really stinks that he did so well last year and is absolutely terrible this year. But he has to be the one that gets taken off this roster if kelly is going to be back up.

Ok, this team is different, still flawed but different..they can PITCH.I think it’s clear now we have as good a starting 5 as any team in either league.

The other change is the 1 and 2 spots in the lineup. While Mclouth gives us base runners it’s Prado at 2 who really changes the dynamic of this team offensively. The first time I saw Prado bat in spring training a couple years back, my take was ”he looks very balanced up there”. That’s still his biggest strength in my view.

Steve from OH………..I’m really hoping that if Frank Wren wants to call up Kelly Johnson…that he will cut Greg Norton. I could live with Kelly being called up to replace Norton. But if he sends Conrad down instead of cutting Norton………I’ll be very disappointed.

Keith Law’s Take
The Braves still need help, and a bat “My gut reaction is that without a bat, the Braves can’t win this division. The deficit is 8 games in the loss column, behind a clearly superior Phillies team that — if anything — has some upside (e.g., Hamels and Rollins should be better in the second half). That’s a lot to overcome.”

Damn I hate this dude, I wonder why the Braves even keep playing, why not just give the Stinkin Philthies the Divison and the W.S. title on a damn platter,

I had a text message conversation with my “insider” with the Braves earlier this morning. Basically we both hold about the same opinion. I am reposting this to get your responses.

== Norton is going to be released soon as KJ and Infante both will be coming back to the team.

== Yunel’s production in the middle of the lineup has cooled the rush to get a right handed power bat

== Still might be looking at the White Sox for either Dye or Konerko, still listening to possible interest from the A’s about trading Holliday. Chances of anything happening are 50/50.

== If a trade happens at all it will probably include KJ, if it happens with the A’s it might also include Garrett Anderson, as he is a West Coast guy from the AL.

== Hudson will be coming into the bullpen when he returns, basically following the John Smoltz philosophy that relieving is less stressful on the arm. Huddy will be a nice addition to the middle of the bullpen as he gives Cox one more veteran to go to. He might also be able to make a spot start should a starter need to skip one for any reason.

== We both agree that the Braves might have the most flexible lineup in the league due to having two of the absolute best “utility” guys in Prado and Infante, having Diaz ,Church, and McLouth who can play any outfield positions, possibly having 2 relievers in Medlen and Hudson who have starter ability, and having 2 seasoned righty/lefty closers that Bobby can interchange based on the need. Throw in Conrad and you can see where the Braves have the best “match up” ability in the NL when all of these parts come together on the roster.

It’s going to be a good second half for the Braves !! Go Bravos !!!

p.s. == And finally that neither of us really has a clue what will happen since neither of us is really involved in any of the this stuff anyway. But we both agree that we wont be shocked by anything that Frank Wren does, he is proving to be quite a go getter with a good sense of what will work for the Braves.
