I have to watch the Giants telecast because of Extra Innings, and these Giants announcers are quite monotone and boooorrrrrrring. Man, these guys are putting me to sleep.
DOB, as usual, I enjoy your music and pop culture shout outs almost as much as your bloggy blog. Totally agree with you on the new Wilco. About 7 listens in and I think it’s better even than YHF b/c Tweedy’s songwriting is much improved since he got off the pills. Their Bonnaroo set this year was amazing, including the reemergence of a happy Tweedy. We all like happy Tweedy. Three bands you may have heard of but if not, definitely check out: Phoenix (like the strokes, except better hooks, a lead singer, and more fun), Mute Math (the best live band in the country hands down, and the only band who can rock a keytar), and Frightened Rabbit from Scotland (kind of a Travis/Parachutes-era Coldplay.
I’m headed to Elbow on Aug 8th. Let me know if you’re interested. I have an extra ticket.

Tell me about it. They were wholly unenthusiastic about that great DP we turned in the first. I don’t even think they acknowledged it once, just whined about the missed call at first…
So it was TJ surgery? OK, then I was correct. Wasn’t sure, I just remember that he had a lot of trouble with pain in the arm after throwing in from the outfield. Thanks CorkylikesBeer and Gone Viral.
“I would never trade a decent regular player for any but the most proven longterm reliever.”
The *only* reason Mike Gonzalez for Adam LaRoche wasn’t a masterstroke was because Gonzo got hurt. And he was far from proven at the time. I trust our scouts to make the right call on a player that can help us.
1/4 of the NL has a shot at the wild card which means that each team has a small chance.
to think the Braves can beat out all the others is wishful thinking. it won’t happen due to simple probablity and the fact that there are several other teams just as good as the Braves.
Your revolution is over, Mr. Sadowski. Condolences. The bums lost. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose. Do you hear me, Sadowski?
Raymond, the only other team in the NL as good as the Braves right now are the Phils. What’s our record against them this year? 5-1 or something like that?
Gone Viral & everyone else. Just listen to me about all this KJ stuff.
KJ was converted because we were a year removed from Furcal being gone. 2006 sucked without a leadoff hitter. With the year KJ put up in 2005 getting on base, they thought he’d be the best option.
I was upset Prado didn’t make the team…though at that point, not as a starter, but as the backup. Woodcrap made the team instead. I was upset we made that trade with NY. When Woodward hit like Mendoza, and during KJ’s dry spells, that’s when I started being a believer in Martin, especially after his ST that year in ‘07 and when he was hitting pretty well in AAA while playing mistake free defense.
Your revolution is over, Mr. Sadowski! Condolences. The bums lost! My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose! Do you hear me, Sadowski?
Man, this is the best the Braves have played in a long time (or so it seems without taking the initiative of doing actual research). They are hitting, playing incredible D, gettting timely hits, pitching, etc. Just imagine if we wouldn’t have dropped those two games to the Rocks before the break. Either way, B-Mac knew what he was talking about…this team is ready for the 2nd half!

“He was switched to 2B because he had surgery on his arm (don’t think it was TJ surgery, but serious) and missed 2006.”
It was in fact Tommy John surgery. We had three or four guys who needed it that season IIRC.
