Ease and RHR,
It was Girardi, I think. We were winning and they came alive after the ejection to win that game and the next one. Then Boston beat us two games in a row.
lol agree that hampton wasn’t consistant production wise, but he was a “regular starter” who was a lefty. I guess that would have been a better way to word the question.
Our lefties over the last several years have been JoJo and Han-Ram…that’s about it with the exception of Hampton…The only thing consistent is how inconsistent they were…I think in Glavine last year, we had Damian Moss, who was lights out as a rookie, until we traded him to the Giants.
Pinella went off the deep end in a Braves game last year the day after the Zambrano/Barrett dugout fight. After that the Cubs got hot and ended up winning the Central.
wheelz: agreed that he didnt start a whole bunch. But it certainly wasn’t for lack of trying. If anything, he tried TOO hard to come back and kept hurting something else. Don’t forget, we also didn’t pay anywhere near his full salary.
Hampton tried too hard?? When? That guy could hurt himself getting up out of a chair. Didn’t he strain a pectoral muscle right as he was supposed to come off the DL? And my favorite injury is the one he had earlier this year, cutting his thumb in the shower on a soap dispenser.
Bobby’s Cox…………..I get “emotional” about things that are worth getting emotional over.
Chad Durbin gets yanked while getting no one out. 2 runs in, bases loaded, 0 out, lol. He was perfect today…….perfect in allowing all 5 batters he faced to get on base, lol.
The Phillies bullpen is getting over worked. Plus no one is pitching like they did last year. Last year, it was pretty much GAME OVER when Chad Durbin came in the 7th, Ryan Madsen in the 8th, and Brad Lidge in the 9th.
Let’s compare their stats from last year to this year.
While Madsen has a decent ERA, he was getting rocked when he had to close some ballgames when Lidge was on the disabled list. Durbin has struggled. And Lidge has been very inconsistent. Last year he was on shutdown mode.
The Phillies pitching staff are going to suffer a few more injuries as the season gets deeper. Bank on it. They are getting overworked.
Finally after a year and a half, Dish network picks up Peachtree TV in Middle Tennessee. I turned on the tube last night to see the game wasn’t on FSN or SS and got mad again. But then I scanned the alternative sports channels and there it was, Braves vs. Giants. At first I thought it was the West Coast feed that would be blacked out but sure enough it was Peachtree TV. I was so happy I almost cried. Finally I can watch Braves Baseball again!
Pinella wouldn’t go down like that though, but it was a white guy, I know that much. Girardi sounds about right. He and Tracy look alike to me..could be either one.
Runners on 1st and 3rd, 2 outs bottom of the 7th….score 8-5 Cubs. Freaking Greg Dobbs can flat out hit. Too bad for him that he cant play on a regular basis. He is good enough to hit everyday. It’s that the Phillies have nowhere to play him when they have everyone healthy.
BravoMan…………..Braves fans should want to see the Cubs win. The Cubs, Cards, Brewers, and Astros are all going to beat each other up. If the Braves continue to win…….the Wild Card will be there.
The division is still there for the taking. We just need for the Phillies to start losing a few.
While we are playing in Milwaukee this weekend, the Phillies are hosting the Cardinals. I dont see the Cards laying down against the Phillies. I’m going to probably pick Albert Pujols as my 1st baseman all 3 games in Philly on my espn fantasy baseball team. In that park, against Phillies pitching, he should have a great weekend.
I’m seriously glad I’m not the only person keeping up with scores today that relate to the Braves. I’ve never scoreboard watched this early in the season. This team has got me fired up lately though.
Has anybody noticed Francoeur has batted .364 since joining the Mets.
How about Bobby saying Prado will be playing regular until they decide what happens to Kelly. Has he lost his marbles Prado is the one that turned this team around.
Earlier in the season when Doumit was injured I traded Saltalamacchia and Grant Balfour for him and stashed him on my DL. I put him in my line-up yesterday. He hit 2 HR today. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.
I thought I would compare Francouer’s numbers since the trade with the tandon of Diaz/Church (I’ll only use Diaz’s numbers when he has played in right field since the trade).
While Francoeur has the edge in batting average (so far, lol), Diaz/Church have a noticeable edge when it comes to runs scored and walks drawn. In fact Jeff hasnt drawn a walk in his last 91 at-bats, dating back to June 19th against Boston. In that time he has struck out 13 times (which for him is actually not bad, lol).
I have been a believer this whole year. There are always growing pains with any team, and they just need to gel together. I am a ticket broker and have purchased numerous season tickets and am confident they will succeed. Go Braves…
