It’s a bit early for scoreboard watching, isn’t it? 65 games or so to play is a little early. All the Braves have to do is continue to play good baseball like they have been & the rest should take care of itself.
It’s amazing how well they have played since dropping KJ/Frenchy & adding Prado. Well actually it’s not if you think about it. It had to give this team a boost to know two guys were not killing the line up. As Yogi Berra said “Baseball is 90% mental — the other half is physical.”

When they are clicking like this, the team is Donk-proof. If they can continue it for three more months, who knows. Sadly, everyone knows that at some point the team will no longer be in a collective zone, and the outcome of a game will rest on a Cox decision – and that’s where we’ll lose a game in the standings to the league
Enjoy it while it lasts – and hop they continue to let Bozo doze thru the games for at least a few more series

I’m shocked to see no complaints about Bobby using Moylan tonight? Brings back a point I made Sunday Night, you never know as a reliever when you may go 3 or 4 days without work. Good thing Soriano threw Sunday or we would be asking him to go on 5 days rest. Odds are hgih we’ll need him and Gonzo tomorrow.

Rob, Been out with the Fam tonight… Got in around the 7th. I’m all for Yunel now. I thought Mark Bradley’s article was really good, and maybe Yunel is just misunderstood. I just hated his attitude and apparent lack of doing things the right way… Hitting like he’s hitting now can cure a lot of ills though… Go Braves!

Dave, a few weeks ago, I thought the Braves season was over. Now, if they keep playing as they are, a wild card berth seems a possibility.
The real thing is this: The Braves have to keep plugging away. I dont know what number of wins it will take to get the wild card. It’s usually between 85 and 90. The Braves are two games over 500 after tonight’s win, so one would figure they have to play.. 10 to 15 games over the rest of the way.
Another issue is the trade deadline. I’m in agreement with the 90% who said that the Braves should not deal Javy Vazquez for offensive help. Doing so would greatly weaken our pitching. We dont know what Tim Hudson will give us when he comes back, and Tim can be a free agent at the end of the year. If we trade Vazquez, and lose Hudson to free agency, or decide not to re sign him, due to the question of his health after TJ sutgery, we are then left with only three servicable starters in Jair, Lowe, and Hanson.
I would either stand pat on July 31, or make another deal not involving a starting pitcher.
Good Run the the few weeks. Let’s hope it continues.

It’s great to see Lowe getting back on track. With him coming around there isn’t a weak spot in the Braves rotation. Even if you view Kawakami as one, which I don’t, he’s better than any other 5th starter that comes to mind. He does exactly what he should do, keep the team in the game, usually allows 3 or less in 6 or so innings.
Looks like Chipper & McCann is getting it together as well. If the offense stays hot as a group this team could win 8-10 in a row. The pitching is there to do it. I know it’s been a really long time since the Braves have put a streak together of any length, but the conditions are about as right as they are going to get.

Moylan has a career 2.77 era and is what, 15 months out from TJ surgery? I think he has been outstanding, with the typical TJ bumps in the road.

So who gets the boot once KJ comes off the DL? Conrad I presume? An off chance of Norton being DFA’d I suppose, but I doubt it.
Kelly has been ripping the ball at AAA including a couple of hits tonight & an RBI. He’s one streaky hitter & could help this team if he gets on a roll. I wouldn’t mind seeing him start at second on days Prado spells Chipper/CK or even a little left field once in a while, but Prado is the second baseman, he’s more than earned it for now.
KJ played his way out of the line up & feel he needs to produce before he gets back in it on a regular basis. I feel he’s got a lot more to offer & I hope he can produce in whatever role he’s given.
For whatever reason this line up is working & I seriously doubt Cox will tinker with it anytime soon. Lord knows I could be wrong, but I hope not.

I don’t even bother with ESPN since the MLB Network came about. I’ll catch the Sunday night game maybe, but that’s about it. They have helped turn sports into a 24/7 reality show & share the blame for having helped create today’s “all about me” athlete.
