I have told anyone who would listen that Casey Kotchman was not giving you anyt production at first base, but this trade is still puzzling. Adam LaRoche is not an upgrade. I hope he takes his pills and concentrates

Mr Cox, at the time didn't have anyone else good enough to let Moylan stay in AAA. And you know how loyal he is to the guys who come thru for him. Nobody knew the lefties we got would be effective. All of Braves Nation was stuck on how they didnt re-sign Ohman, and all the other things(CF, RF, 2B), which have been pretty much been corrected. I do agree with Hudson is better served coming out of the pen when he returns, I thought the same because he is coming back in late August.

Well, let's not forget that Elvis is only 20, and already plays some MLB-great defense. So his potential is great--anytime you can get in the bigs, on a contending team as a starter, at that tender age is quite an accomplishment.

Salty could go either way. If he winds up as a .250ish, 15-20 homer guy with decent defense, then he has a Sandy Alomar, Jr. career, and he will retire a wealthy man.

Feliz could obviously go either way, and I hear you on Harrison.

But each of these folks were basically blocked. Salty was doomed to a second-string catcher fate; Elvis, for all his skills, isn't Escobar; and we had/have pitchers ahead of those (excepting possibly Feliz).

So I agree that it isn't as bad as a lot of folks piss and moan about. Especially when getting the complete package at first that Tex was/is. The only thing about it I regret is that we weren't able to secure more time for him. Even if he had agreed to a one-year extension, I would have been more pleased. But, what can you do? We pulled the trigger, and didn't mortgage the future, despite opinions to the contrary.

Knowitall.............your 3:47pm posting about Salty was right on. When the Mark Teixeria trade bashers come out with their "we reloaded the Rangers" crap.........I post his stats. Yet they STILL IGNORE IT. The keep right up with that nonsense.

They keep lamenting the fact that we also gave up Matt Harrison, even though he is he white man's version of Horatio Ramirez (injured, high ERA, short outing kind of guy).

And of course, we cant forget about Elvis "I'm hitting .249 with 3 homers and 16 RBI's in 249 at-bats" Andrus.

Necromancer..............if you felt that you was wrongly attacked, wouldnt you want to attack back? When someone talks bad about my postings, just because they are a little long.........why shouldnt I come back at them and "talk bad" about their attention span? Turnabout is fair game.

<strong>Paul Lentz</strong>

I will say this about you..you do stick to your convictions. Eventhough I don't agree with 99.9% of them, you've have some testicular fortitude.

But, c'mon, man....you can deliver your opinions out in a more healthier way.

It's not that we're ADD, but have you ever had to listen to a dull lecture? That's what these posts of your's reminds me of. Redundant.

Anyhooo...I know....I don't have to read them....

Also, I say a lot of provoking things to you just to get a reaction...and...it works...

That's my personality, I like to pick on folks...that doesn't mean I hate them...I just like to have fun.

There....that's my attempt at trying to bury the hatchet...

Have the Braves inquired about the availability of Arizona's Mark Reynolds?

If Wren were to acquire Reynolds, he would be a great addition. He's slugging .544 this year with 25 dingers in what appears to be a break-out season. He's a right-handed 3B that has played 1B, 2B and OF in his career.

Most importantly, he's making less than $500K this year and is under contract until 2014. He might be elligible for "super two" status, but would be a bargain even for post-arbitration prices. This way we could push for post-season berth this year without selling out the farm or adding payroll. Chipper could move to first (or Reynolds could play 1B until he's ready to move), and Kotchman could be packaged with a prospect in the deal.

I don't know if Reynolds is available, so this all may be moot, but it's at least an interesting hypothetical...
