Talk about pitch counts. The only guy in Major League history who has thrown back to back no-hitters, threw 196 pitches in the second no-hitter. 196, lol. Talk about how times have changed, lol.

Btw, Chipper Jones is on pace to break his “personal best” 25 errors in 1995.

Heath (Cleveland)………be patient. Right now, Sanchez’s stuff has movement on it right now. Let’s see how his stuff is moving come the 4th-5th inning.

Sanchez over 20 pitches in the first inning. That’s a good start….wear him down.

For all those who are interested:

Buddy Carlyle pitched the first inning of the Gwinnett Braves game today. He had a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two. His fastball topped out at 92 mph.

Don’t think Escobar minds hitting sixth. We asked him about hitting there today, and he said it’s not a big deal, in so many words…..

Sanchez hasn’t given up a hit in 11 innings, going back through a relief appearance before his last start. in case you were wondering.

Hanson is making this interesting. Strikeout Pablo Sandoval twice on nasty pitches, yet walk the pitcher.

Paul Lentz

July 20th, 2009
7:45 pm

5 strikeouts for Hanson. But leaving too many pitches up. Hopefully he will settle down. What would help is for the Braves offense to pick him up and score a few runs. It isnt like Hanson is going to pitch a shutout every time out.

That’s when you need the Leo Mazzone touch! The kids didn’t relate to Leo, (so some of the remaining staff vets said when Leo left) but they were scared shatless of Leo! There weren’t too many bases loaded walks or walks to the opposing pitcher when Leo was around. He just didn’t put up with that crap!
