JF hit a HR? So what, it is his HR of the month, 1 monthly, you know…………
This is as close to a guaranteed “W” as they get…only the Padres are as bad with the bat as the Giants.
Lol. I’m up to tolerable with Yunel now. If he hits like this he can do whatever he wants for all I care. As long as it doesn’t cost us a win…
July 20th, 20099:25 pm
“PWHjort, no offense but you are the definition of a NERD!”
Not afraid to acknowledge it either. Though I do have a fairly normal social life.
I haven’t taken the MCAT yet. I’m taking it this coming Spring/Summer (whichever semester I decide to not go abroad during).
No need to argue…only the first game of the series.
Home plate Ump is an idiot!
Rob from SC…………Washington does suck. Francoeur goes 4 for 9 against the Reds, 3 for 16 against us, and so far 3 for 4 against the Nationals. Against bad pitching, that is when he can get lucky, lol. Against teams with pitching, he wont do jack.
Actually, I hope that Francoeur plays well enough for the Mets to be convinced to sign him to a 5 year $60 mil extension. That way that will be money wasted on a BUM.
Doc, even more impressive is that the Phils won 12 of 13 (about to be 13 of 14) and we’ve only lost 3 games in the standings, usually a run like that puts you out it. But I think Wildcard is it for us, and definantly achievable.
No need to get tossed, Chipper. But you’re right.
I think Mr. Jones has a MUCH BETTER idea of the strike zone than Rob Drake.
So…Kelly Johnson has 2HR’s and 6 RBI’s so far tonight ??…Hmmm….
Oh god no.
And that ump is a bum. Chipper needs to take him out back and introduce him to MFIKY.

“Oh my goodness” Did I read the lips correctly? Lol.
FEAR, I would put in my one armed mom before I put in Jeff Bennet. Glad he is injured so Boobi couldnt screw this up!
Rob – I think Esco is a knucklehead and I still love him. He and Prado are my favorite players. I just want Esco to smarten up and so he becomes a star in Atlanta.
Rob from SC

If Francoeur turns it around in NY, Pendleton better be banned from any job in MLB
If he turns it around Rob, it will not be on TP. It might be that he was humbled enough by the trade to do something different.
Steve from OH
PWHjort, no offense but you are the definition of a NERD!
So am I. You got a problem with that? LOL!
There’s that double, McFann.
B-Macc Getting into the Action…
Now is it safe for Acosta? Still need more insurance… lol
That was a REALLY nice swing by our cleanup hitter. Good job. He smoked that ball.
That McCann guy is pretty good.
Damn braves.. save some for tomorrow
July 20th, 20099:27 pm
Frenchy had a single, double and homer tonight. Looks like the Mets hitting coach can do what TP can’t.
There ya go, McFann. It’s kind of like an RBI double
This 9-run outburst here means that the Braves will have scored 101 RUNS in this current 19-game stretch. That’s a pretty good offense.
That comment by Joe Simpson reminded me of a little kid arguing over whose Daddy could beat up whose.
” Yeah, but Jeff hit one too! And his went farther!”
A nerd will be your boss one day, son. Keep that in mind.
Lets wear their bullpen down for the rest of the series!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the time to do the damage to their pen for the rest of the games!
Hopefully the Bullpen won’t pitch tonight like they pitched in Hanson’s last outing.
Nice rip McCann. Now would be a good time to give Moylan some mound time. Then again, I picked Braves pitching for my espn fantasy baseball team tonight. So I dont want him screwing things up for me by pitching bad.
July 20th, 20099:28 pm
McCann on second, Yunel at the plate, I say we call for the hit and run.
Well, you shouldn’t have too much trouble with it, PWH. Definitely brush up on your Gen Chem and your physics though. That’s the part that gets most folks…
I bet ESPN and MLB Network will fail to report how well the offense has been for the Braves in the last 19 games.
July 20th, 20099:29 pm
Two more runs I think, then we can give Acosta the green light. We’ll even let him throw two innings… Unless he gives up a hit, gotta keep that hook close by ya know, business and all.
Way to bat around. Doing some things right now. Winning at home, getting our pitchers some runs to work for. Looking good this second half so far. Even showing some pop.
I hope McFann is still watching.
Gotta focus on the Wild Card… Can do some serious damage in that race over the next three games!
Braves have averaged 6.5 runs per game since the All star break, Keep It Up!
McFann :Ô: – That’s for sure…
(For the record, I’m more of a “ma’am”. )
Yikes, please accept my apologies then Ma’am. *doffs cap*
Atta boy on that hit Brian!
Whew! Joins in the hit-parade!
But why can’t they just give guys the double instead of “got to second on the throw”? They should be rewarded for their hustle…
I bet Matty’s triple wasn’t even called a triple.
PWHjort, good for you and I really wasn’t dissing on you man. My girlfriend, who I love to death, is a nerd and I get on to her all the time but she knows I’m not trying to be a jerk. Oh, and here family, WOW… it’s like a nerd paradise when you walk into their house.
July 20th, 20099:30 pm
Somewhere on a Giants blog, there are about 20 guys saying “ballgame”.
This outburst, depending on what Arizona does (0 runs so far), I think will put the Braves 7th in runs scored in the NL too.
Yes Joe, they have wifi in the stadium lol.
Keep it going offense!!!! Can’t ever have too many runs as we’ve proven all too often
Chipper needs to take him out back and introduce him to MFIKY.
Man, you’d make a great Army prison commandant. You seem to love dishing out the corporal punishment. I think I’ll call you “colonel” from now on.
Alright, I know I don’t have Skip’s permission yet but I think it’s okay to walk the dog. It’s been fun guys.
Except for Unknown. Get those ants out of your panties and lighten up, dude.
wonder whatever became of that pitchfork mob demanding we trade escobar? awful quiet on the subject of late. strange, that. they were so sure of themselves the other night.
Heath, ESPN doesnt report on anything unless it happens in NY or LA. They are all over those two cities dugans.
July 20th, 20099:31 pm
OK, so Matty’s was a triple.
I was watching. Our TV was delayed…
Braves have also averaged around 6.2 runs per game since Francoeur was traded…Maybe his departure turned this offense around…
Braves will only gain a half game on the WC race because Rockies are beating the D-backs and will assume the WC lead. Still, great performance tonight.
Doc Holliday………I agree. Remember when he hit that homer against the Cubs? The blog was flooded with “Francoeur is turning it around”…..then 3 weeks of nothing. When he hit that bases loaded double against the Orioles? 3 weeks of nothing. When he hit that homer against the Yankees? 3 weeks of nothing.
Now he hits a homer tonight? Let’s see what he does in the next 3 weeks and then get back to me. Even Francoeur will eventually hit a hanger out once or twice a month. However it’s all the other times that he SUCKS that drags a team’s offense down.
The Blogger Formerly known as Billy
I guess posters such as joe bravee only post when bad stuff happens.
Heh, TnBrian. I wasn’t offended.
July 20th, 20099:32 pm
Well Heath, if MLB Network hosts talking for minutes on end about the Mets chances of getting back in the division… no, make that win the division… while showing a live feed of the game in D.C. is any indication, then I bet you’re right.
Every spot in the order has a hit except Prado…
Rob from SC
Bobby Cox, I am begging you. Please don’t use Soriano in the 9th.
wow…….lotta runs…so that means we score 2 tomorrow…..
Come on Gonzo ———-
July 20th, 20099:33 pm
jeffrey d – is that ants in my pants? I thought it was crabs I caught from your moms.
Today on XM radio Bernie (I think, horrible with names) had a caller asking him what he thought about the Brave’s offensive improvements. His response was “What improvements? The Braves a team built around pitching, other than Mclouth they haven’t improved anywhere. Do you think Prado is an upgrade over Johnson? Cause I don’t”
I pretty much tuned him out after that. Think he made a comment about Kotchman and McCann not hitting a lot of homeruns and deemed them “liabilities” or something. He obviously isn’t aware that McCann is a 4 time all-star (primarily for his offensive skills) and Kotch is fire-hot right now.
Gonzo is awful. Quit falling off the dang mound, fool.
Here come the I can’t pitch with a big league excuse
Have you taken the MCAT?
Get Gonzo out NOW!
Phillies just can keep winning forever, not with their pitching, I dont care how good they can hit.
I guess he wants to see if Gonzo can pitch on back to back days before using him in a high leverage situation…………?
If he doesn’t use Soriano in the 9th, do we have anyone else that can hold a 6 run lead???
July 20th, 20099:34 pm
Yeah, I took it once and got a 35, which was good enough to get accepted, so I took it, LOL!
Another good score (for the Braves WC chances):
4-1 Pittsburgh over Brewers.
Bobby, you seriously did not just bring in Gonzo to pitch with a 6 run lead.
Give me a f*n’ break. He’s not right.
Leave him alone until you need him for F’s sake.
Management needs to force Gonzalez to pitch from the stretch at all times
What the hell was that? Gonzalez hasn’t thrown that pitch all year.
July 20th, 20099:35 pm
Gonzos inflamation is on his elbow or between his ears?
Yesterday I could understand bringing in Gonzalez to give him some work. After all, he hadnt pitched in almost 2 weeks. However, tonight? I just dont get it. The only way I could understand Bobby pitching Gonzalez tonight would be if Gonzalez lost his 8th inning set up role.
Barring that, I just dont understand using him tonight. He wont be available tomorrow, given it will be 3 straight days if Bobby uses him tomorrow.
This move perplexes me.
Did anyone else think for a minute Nate lost that one also?
He was already warmed up.
July 20th, 20099:36 pm
Lets trade him
Good defense there from Escobar.
If a guy has tendinitis why use him on back-to-back days when your team has a large lead?
Escobar is the man! Dude just plays period!
Escobar simply robbed Bowker on that play.
Not a bad play there by Esco…
There’s no way that Sori should pitch the 9th.
Hate on that pick!
Are there really still people who don’t like Escobar?
Give me a break.
Yunel with the D!
“Barring that, I just dont understand using him tonight. He wont be available tomorrow, given it will be 3 straight days if Bobby uses him tomorrow.” (Paul Lentz)
2 points. 1) he was probably warming up when the game was tied. And once you’ve warmed him up, you might as well use him. 2) Bobby never makes his relievers unavailable, for better or (most always) worse.
July 20th, 20099:37 pm
Esco has skillz!
He was warmed up, so what are you going to do. But if he uses Gonzo tomorrow, no matter what, it is time to start asking some really hard questions about Bobby’s use of the pen. Because 3 times in a row for a guy with elbow trouble. I really hope it doesn’t happen.
OK Bobby………hurry……..get Soriano up to shut down this close game……….we need this win………get him ready noooooooooooow!!!!!!!!
Did you hear that stat on Molina? Only 6 walks for the year, and he’s walked in 3 straight games…
And I thought BMac’s 2 walks for the month of July was bad!
Gonzo pitched because he was warming up when it was still 3-3. Not using him after him warming up is the same as using him.
