Rob from SC…………Washington does suck. Francoeur goes 4 for 9 against the Reds, 3 for 16 against us, and so far 3 for 4 against the Nationals. Against bad pitching, that is when he can get lucky, lol. Against teams with pitching, he wont do jack.
Actually, I hope that Francoeur plays well enough for the Mets to be convinced to sign him to a 5 year $60 mil extension. That way that will be money wasted on a BUM.

Doc, even more impressive is that the Phils won 12 of 13 (about to be 13 of 14) and we’ve only lost 3 games in the standings, usually a run like that puts you out it. But I think Wildcard is it for us, and definantly achievable.

Doc Holliday………I agree. Remember when he hit that homer against the Cubs? The blog was flooded with “Francoeur is turning it around”…..then 3 weeks of nothing. When he hit that bases loaded double against the Orioles? 3 weeks of nothing. When he hit that homer against the Yankees? 3 weeks of nothing.
Now he hits a homer tonight? Let’s see what he does in the next 3 weeks and then get back to me. Even Francoeur will eventually hit a hanger out once or twice a month. However it’s all the other times that he SUCKS that drags a team’s offense down.

Today on XM radio Bernie (I think, horrible with names) had a caller asking him what he thought about the Brave’s offensive improvements. His response was “What improvements? The Braves a team built around pitching, other than Mclouth they haven’t improved anywhere. Do you think Prado is an upgrade over Johnson? Cause I don’t”
I pretty much tuned him out after that. Think he made a comment about Kotchman and McCann not hitting a lot of homeruns and deemed them “liabilities” or something. He obviously isn’t aware that McCann is a 4 time all-star (primarily for his offensive skills) and Kotch is fire-hot right now.

Yesterday I could understand bringing in Gonzalez to give him some work. After all, he hadnt pitched in almost 2 weeks. However, tonight? I just dont get it. The only way I could understand Bobby pitching Gonzalez tonight would be if Gonzalez lost his 8th inning set up role.
Barring that, I just dont understand using him tonight. He wont be available tomorrow, given it will be 3 straight days if Bobby uses him tomorrow.
This move perplexes me.

2 points. 1) he was probably warming up when the game was tied. And once you’ve warmed him up, you might as well use him. 2) Bobby never makes his relievers unavailable, for better or (most always) worse.

He was warmed up, so what are you going to do. But if he uses Gonzo tomorrow, no matter what, it is time to start asking some really hard questions about Bobby’s use of the pen. Because 3 times in a row for a guy with elbow trouble. I really hope it doesn’t happen.

Gonzo pitched because he was warming up when it was still 3-3. Not using him after him warming up is the same as using him.
