That was ugly
Well, that was not good.
You gotta be kidding me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 20th, 20098:53 pm
Mcclouth is gone
wow, what an awful break…bear down kid!
At least LOAF hustled to it ~_~
Wow that was bad.
FWIW…I’ve enjoyed the discussion with Paul in regards to MH…
Steve from OH
Kelly Johnson raking Triple A pitching does nothing to change my mind about his ability to hit MAJOR LEAGUE PITCHING.
Will his career .338 wOBA and .363 in 2007 do that? Because that’s not too bad for a 2B, and his 2007 season was outstanding. How do I make one of those laughing faces again?
John………..I agree that if the Rockies did offer him $72 mil over 4 years…..that he was a DAMN FOOL for turning it down.
Damn, McLouth lost it in the lights. Bad luck for the Braves period. What should have been an easy inning has turned into potential trouble.
July 20th, 20098:54 pm
that pitch right there has been a strike all night!

Tie ballgame…..coming up!
Pick him up Tommy.
Gil In Mechanicsville
So, after the cow and the coke bottle, when do they spring for better lighting in the outfield?
Tough break. Would be awful to get a no-decision with a start like tonight
Need a K
wow that is a wicked curve…
Well he could use a strikeout.
July 20th, 20098:55 pm
McLouth’s play is very similar to KJ error last year that caused our demise. Hopefully not
I like that McCann went out to the mound here. Make sure they know what they are doing.
July 20th, 20098:56 pm
I would have gone the the gas too.
July 20th, 20098:57 pm
Tommy ….trying to be “cute.”
Hope Diaz was taking notes
Good Plate by Nate-Dawg!
Well, that was a good catch.
That was a good catch there…
Damn bad break for the kid there.
Hanson needed a K there.
Rob from SC
Stay tough kid
so thats an “earned run”???
July 20th, 20098:58 pm
Steve from OH………..this is NOT 2007. Baseball is a sport where making adjustments is essential to a player’s ability to have longevity. Kelly Johnson, like his buddy Jeff Francoeur, has shown over the past year and a half that he doesnt have the ability to make adjustments. MLB has figured out how to pitch him. Simple as that.
I do not think that Frank Wren is willing to risk bringing up Kelly Johnson and hope that he can turn it around. And besides, where would you play him? Who’s bat would you take out to give Kelly Johnson a chance to prove himself?
I have NOT given up on Kelly Johnson yet….still got “potential”…for a 2B…
3 runs is a lot for the Giants. Just get Winn here.
Oh great, its randy winn!
If our outfielders could catch, Hanson would have a shutout
I’m really beginning to hate Nate McLouth. He cost us this game.
Braves killa to the plate.
Hanson’s ha a couple of good starts alreay in which he received no decisions. Could easily be 6 – 0 already.
July 20th, 20098:59 pm
Teach Kelly Johnson first base.
“McLouth’s play is very similar to KJ error last year that caused our demise. Hopefully not”
That’s not what caused our demise. Lots of injuries and bad play caused the Braves to finish 4th.
MiltonDawg……….comparing McLouth losing the ball in the lights……to Kelly dropping the ball defies logic, lol. One was an error, the other bad luck.
Fixin’ to be 5-3 now.
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
July 20th, 20099:00 pm
hopefully he can get out of it right here and the braves score a run for him. he deserves this win.
Mac really needs to learn how to throw.
Young and Stupid
Why would you teach Kelly Johnson first base?
July 20th, 20099:01 pm
Unlike you, Paul Lentz, I know the power of statistical sample size and I’m not stupid enough to simply drop a career .270 EqA hitter because he hasn’t been good over his last 250 PA, less than half of a full season’s worth. Not only that, but Wren certainly isn’t stupid enough to simply cut him in favor of minor-league lifer Brooks Conrad or Greg Norton. And here you think you’re smart…
Mac has a hard time throwing out runners stealing secon.
Need to throw the gas here kid.
“If our outfielders could catch, Hanson would have a shutout”
True i think Diaz misplayed that first one. Should have had it.
This is Hanson’s last batter.
This game is OVER.
Let Hanson finish this inning
that is freaking horsecrap…hate to see the kid give up a run like that on such a weak fly ball that should have been caught…that really stinks, but even worse is the fact that it allowed the game to be tied…well, I guess that’s obvious that the tie game is worse.
he went and that was a strikeout.
Mixxo @ 8:59 – reverse psychology?
Dammit, looked like he swung to me.
McLouth didn’t hustle to pick up the ball. Maybe that dosen’t upset Cox
July 20th, 20099:02 pm
Wow, bad call in my opinion.
damn. that hurts.
I like leaving Tommy in here…he has had success against the guy.
looks like another no decision for hanson, he should be 7-0
I dont like leaving Hanson in right now.
Mcclouth should have ran for that ball after he saw it.
July 20th, 20099:03 pm
I think Cox should have taken him out.
McLouth didn’t hustle to pick up the ball. Maybe that dosen’t upset Cox
That’s because GA got it…
He was supposed to take Tommy out. This is why Cox gets the flack that he does. This is when you are supposed to trust your bullpen
Kung Fu Panda is a free swinging…nothing in the strikezone here kid.
July 20th, 20099:04 pm
In my book, (I know it doesn’t matter) all three of these runs are unearned
Lets get him a win offense.
now score a run for the kid.
Good job Tommy. Now someone get him the lead.
Get a run and give that boy a win…damn, does he ever deserve it!
That Sucks, Big Red will geta ND but should have gotten another win…
The Braves have already scored their run quota for this game, so I’m kinda nervous about them pulling this one out.
July 20th, 20099:05 pm
Lousy support behind Hanson tonight. He should be breezing…
Great job Tommy. No excuses Braves, score some runs, win the game!!!!
Nice comeback by the kid. It didnt look like he’d get out of the 4th at first. Now lets go O!
Something like that. I don’t know….it’s worked in the past.
Tommy’s done, get someone warm.
I agree…let’s pick Tommy and Nate up right here and get a couple of runs after that gift…
The Panda was 0-3 with 2 Ks going into that AB against Tommy, who still has good stuff…I liked the decision. Now we need some runs to get Tommy the W…he deserves it.
July 20th, 20099:06 pm
Steve from OH…………….Brooks Conrad offers the Braves more flexibility. He is a switch hitter with a little pop in his bat. Kelly Johnson is a left handed hitter who simply looks over matched at the plate. I’d rather have Conrad as a reserve than Kelly. While I’m not as down on Kelly as I was on Francoeur………..I dont want to see Kelly anywhere our line-up this year. Keep him in Triple A for the rest of the season, and then bring him up during the September call-ups. But not before then.
Our D lost this game.
Not to inject logic here, but the Braves have scored 24 runs in their last four games. What is this quota you speak of?
No….Bobby gets flak either way.
Get him a win. The kid pitched too well to get a ND for this game. He was everything we needed out of him tonite! Get those runs Braves offense
Big Red Dipping, Yuck!
Awww. Nate apologized and Tommy patted him on the shoulder. That’s nice.
July 20th, 20099:07 pm
Simple Answer to the Kelly Johnson problem
Call up Kelly
Well, atleast the lost fly ball didn’t drop right on McLouth’s head and injur him.
Sergio Romo, Who…?
Is he related to Tony Homo of the Cowboys…? J/K
can we not get some outfield lights. anyone that has sat in the outfield knows how difficult it is to see the ball since it is not backlit. Are there any other stadiums that do not have outfield light beyond the foul poles. Hell, they even have them on the green monster.
It amazes me why Boog and Joe kept referring to the twilight sky. If they ever went out there and saw what it was like they would know.
Happened with McCann earlier in the year when he got a triple against the Brewers. Left fielder for them never saw the ball.
Hell, the Gwinnett Stadium is better lit that Turner is.
Screw the skyline view. PUT SOME FREAKIN LIGHTS IN OUT THERE.
there we go Esco…come on boys, big inning!
Hate on that….haters.
July 20th, 20099:08 pm
That’s 2 nights in a row Yunel’s gotten a hit on an 0-2 count
