Kelly Johnson raking Triple A pitching does nothing to change my mind about his ability to hit MAJOR LEAGUE PITCHING.
Will his career .338 wOBA and .363 in 2007 do that? Because that’s not too bad for a 2B, and his 2007 season was outstanding. How do I make one of those laughing faces again?
Steve from OH………..this is NOT 2007. Baseball is a sport where making adjustments is essential to a player’s ability to have longevity. Kelly Johnson, like his buddy Jeff Francoeur, has shown over the past year and a half that he doesnt have the ability to make adjustments. MLB has figured out how to pitch him. Simple as that.
I do not think that Frank Wren is willing to risk bringing up Kelly Johnson and hope that he can turn it around. And besides, where would you play him? Who’s bat would you take out to give Kelly Johnson a chance to prove himself?
Unlike you, Paul Lentz, I know the power of statistical sample size and I’m not stupid enough to simply drop a career .270 EqA hitter because he hasn’t been good over his last 250 PA, less than half of a full season’s worth. Not only that, but Wren certainly isn’t stupid enough to simply cut him in favor of minor-league lifer Brooks Conrad or Greg Norton. And here you think you’re smart…
that is freaking horsecrap…hate to see the kid give up a run like that on such a weak fly ball that should have been caught…that really stinks, but even worse is the fact that it allowed the game to be tied…well, I guess that’s obvious that the tie game is worse.
The Panda was 0-3 with 2 Ks going into that AB against Tommy, who still has good stuff…I liked the decision. Now we need some runs to get Tommy the W…he deserves it.
Steve from OH…………….Brooks Conrad offers the Braves more flexibility. He is a switch hitter with a little pop in his bat. Kelly Johnson is a left handed hitter who simply looks over matched at the plate. I’d rather have Conrad as a reserve than Kelly. While I’m not as down on Kelly as I was on Francoeur………..I dont want to see Kelly anywhere our line-up this year. Keep him in Triple A for the rest of the season, and then bring him up during the September call-ups. But not before then.
can we not get some outfield lights. anyone that has sat in the outfield knows how difficult it is to see the ball since it is not backlit. Are there any other stadiums that do not have outfield light beyond the foul poles. Hell, they even have them on the green monster.
It amazes me why Boog and Joe kept referring to the twilight sky. If they ever went out there and saw what it was like they would know.
Happened with McCann earlier in the year when he got a triple against the Brewers. Left fielder for them never saw the ball.
Hell, the Gwinnett Stadium is better lit that Turner is.
Screw the skyline view. PUT SOME FREAKIN LIGHTS IN OUT THERE.

Damn, McLouth lost it in the lights. Bad luck for the Braves period. What should have been an easy inning has turned into potential trouble.
