“Bryan McCann (a catcher) notwithstanding, every Braves hitter has regressed and failed to improve under TP, and before you say Chipper, where the hell has his power gone? Kotch, KJ, Yunel, Chipper, Schafer, Frenchy, even Matt Diaz last year. STOP BLAMING THE PLAYERS! THEY NEED SOLID COACHING! We are only as good as our weakest link, and unfortunately, when it comes to hitting, we don’t seem to have a clue! I got an idea: Trade Roger McDowell for Rudy Jaramillo and bring back Mazzone!”
REPLACE TP – you are a special kind of idiot.
Maybe those particular players (AJ, Frenchy, Schafer) just wouldn’t listen to him? Wouldn’t be the first time a ball player acted like a know it all. Also, maybe some of those players (Kotchman, KJ) just can’t put it together and it’s on them. TP can’t get out there and swing the bat for them. Seriously – EVERY player has regressed under TP? Wow.
Oh, oh – I get it – this is really Robert, isn’t it? Good one!
TBF(n)K as Billy
never mind…im an idiot
July 14th, 200910:22 pm
TnBrian, I was just dreaming but anything could happen if you’re 19 games out and the Boss needs money.
What was Lance thinking ?!!!
Lex Luthor is at the All Star Game?
K with a K
J-Up can mash a baseball. He is going to be a superstar!!
July 14th, 200910:23 pm
My AL MVP pick might be Greinke, he mowed through a pretty nasty side in the 4th: Ibanez, Wright, Victorino and struck out the last two (earning the most Ks in the game so far)
NL pick …. Yadi for his two run single (and scoring the the once go ahead run)
It’s kinda hard to pick in a tie game. I’d have to go with them I guess
Any truth that Washington is in interested in Bobby Valentine. Wouldn’t mind beating up on him some more.
Sorry DOB, I liked Sheryl Crow better in the 90’s, when she was a natural, distinctive beauty. She’s been yanked, nipped, tucked, pulled and Botoxed to the point that she’s unrecognizable. She looks like all the other 40-something surgically-altered celebs. She could stand to eat a couple of meals too. And frankly, a lackluster Anthem performance tonight. Probably a nice lady though…just needs to kick the cosmetic surgery habit, and quit starving herself.
Touche Heath. Points to you.
Mac’s still not in. Molina remains in game.
Don’t have any experience with genital warts, but I would gladly load the rifle.
“Four inches from your chest, Private Pyle! FOUR INCHES!!!!
July 14th, 200910:24 pm
Who ARE some of these people? I mean really? Mac nowhere in site and chipper and MFIKY at home on the couch for some of these guys? Psh.
TBF(n)K lol what 3 or 4 all star games and only have 2 AB’s thats wrong
Yeah, before this year, he’s been in three games and is 0-2.
I need to quit this, though, or he’s gonna K tonight…
July 14th, 200910:25 pm
I vote Mark Burhle MVP as of now. He got Utley, Pujols, and Braun on 6 pitches.
Yes, Heath, good line about Frenchy….
I just looked up Joe Simpson’s stats – Not Pretty.
July 14th, 200910:26 pm
Would it be wrong to vote for BMac for MVP even though he’s not in the game yet???
where the hell is Mac? Why is Molina still in this freakin game
all of King Alberts defensive plays are big in this game…right now he is the only one to stand out for me
Edward( Bobby Retires after 2009 or Bust )
July 14th, 200910:27 pm
Oy Vey!…where the heck is Mac?…does Manuel hates him or something??…7th inning and still not in the game..
If Mac goes to a few more All-Star Games, he might compile a full game’s worth of playing time (nine innings).
That ain’t right, not letting the best catcher get some serious time. Especially with the rule that the starting catcher can go back in in case of emergency. So that’s no excuse.
Jayson Werth is in! We’re saved!
When I hear Jayson Werth, “All Star” is the first thing that comes to mind.
Steve from OH @ 8:51: Bravo. Truly funny. I thought about arguing with the original post, but I figured it was futile.
July 14th, 200910:28 pm
Shame on Manuel not putting McCann in there!
I hate Charlie Manual
This makes no sense to me. Two years in a row, B-Mac gets screwed over. Ridiculous.
McFann – I think all of us Braves fans are frustrated by not seeing Mac in these games enough. I guess it goes to show if the Braves fans don’t flood the ballot box or internet vote…the rest of baseball won’t either.
Let’s hope next year we can do better.
Mac’s gettin screwed…..again……
Molina better not hit this inning, Mac got screwed for the second year in a row

Pujols thanked God, but forgot to thank his drug supplier.
Not one to bitch…but what does Bmac got to do…
Sara Evans singing God Bless America. She’s from Missouri, like Ms. Crow
July 14th, 200910:30 pm
Will be mad if Molina gets another AB. As for catching, let Molina get beat up there til next AB and pinch hit Mac.
Oh nolie if youre still here…I didnt see your post earlier. The shoes are for a mother daughter sorority banquet for fall rush at auburn. Yes, they requested we wear a certain thing. Sorry that probably isnt nearly as exciting as what you imagined.
Wow Brody’s wife has quite the twang voice huh? Painful.
All I can say is that Mac better be pinch hitting in the bottom half of the inning, or else Manuel is a “MORON.” Right, Paul?
BMac obv. pissed someone off.
Fine job. Well done. Also easy on the eyes.
July 14th, 200910:31 pm
Steve from OH @ 8:51: Bravo. Truly funny
My thoughts exactly. You are the man
[Bowing in awe]
I like the mix of pitchers being used tonight by manuel. He’s mixed in starters and relievers perfectly. Let’s get some runs. Maybe Mac will PH this inning for the pitcher’s spot.
any chance the Braves managment, bobby, wren, etc. put a word to Philly manager to sit Bmac?
B-Mac gets screwed again. Gonna have to start voting him in as a starter if he’s to get any real playing time.
Why is Sara Evans singing “God Bless America” like a hillbilly from West Virginia? I’ve never heard her sing like that, usually she has a great voice. Weird.
DOB, check out S Evans……………Beautiful!
Sarah Evans look better than Sheryl ! Sorry !
Must be the water in Missouri?
July 14th, 200910:32 pm
Good evening, Beat Blog Denizens.
Anyone say anything nice about Joe Buck yet?
Ok AF Jason, since I am a special king of idiot, let me challenge you…. Brian McCann notwithstanding (a catcher who understands pitchers and hiters better than any other position):
JUST ONE HITTER
WHO HAS FLOURISHED UNDER TP’s TUTELAGE?
That is it. I will not rest next year until Mac is an All-Star starter. I am tired of seeing him play for one at bat behind players that he is far better than…Sara Evans is Hot and did a great job!!!
sara evans…not bad at all
July 14th, 200910:33 pm
Haha a “hillbilly from West Virginia”. Write that on Bowman’s blog. I’m sure you’ll get a good response.
Same BS as last year. McCann didn’t even enter the game until the 15th inning last year. What does the rest of baseball have against the Braves?
DOB @ 10:27–
Ye-ep. This is ridiculous.
So let’s go back to the 4 All Star Games that Brian McCann has been a part of and hardly got to smell the playing field.
Paul LoDuca, Rusell Martin, Geovany Soto, and this year Yadier Molina.
And the managers in each of these games thought better NOT to put him in until they basically ran out of players??? Go figure?
DOB you need to take one for the team and specifically asked why McCann is not playing if he dont.
July 14th, 200910:34 pm
Good grief! Why trade Yunel? He’s a flame throwing young athletic with a nice attractive price tag. We know Padres want Yunel, maybe we can cook up a Yunel/Kotchman/Reyes for Gonzalaz? Yunel should not be traded to Oakland, we don’t need more dates with Boras in the offseason. See the Lowe signing for details.
Boy, that was almost really really familiar
Wow. What a grab. Nicely done, robbed a homer.
Mac up to hit baby
Great catch by Crawford.
MVP as of now… Carl Crawford.
If the All star game was here, Who would sing from Georgia ?!! Trisha Yearwood ?! Gladys Knight ?!
There’s a good view… Mac with a bat and helmet.
July 14th, 200910:35 pm
Damn good play by Crawford
McCann has a bat
I think Manuel is sending the Braves a message that he could care less about us. Not only is Mccann not in the game yet, there is not one pitcher from the Braves who arguably have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. I will feel bad if he does not get in, however if the chance that the NL blows this game, i hope Trevor Hoffman is the pitcher that blows the save because Soriano deserves to be there more than any closer in the NL Bullpen
This just in!
Store-bought New York style cheesecake, a nice cup of coffee and a tied All-Star game on a warm Ga. night. = good stuff!
The only thing better would be a torrid second half by our Braves.
biomass Pujols forgot your name. He just knows your face smarta@@
I hate Papelbon. I hope he takes the L.
July 14th, 200910:36 pm
I’ve heard that MFIKY has stopped conversing with people the past few days. He simply walks around with a distant, deranged look uttering one word — “Man-u-el!”
I’m just saying, if I’m a Phillie, I get some “flu-like symptoms” the next time the Braves come up on the schedule.
BREAKING THE NEWS:
Braves nearing a trade that would send Escobar/Medlen/PTBN to Orioles for Luke Scott/Izturis/Sherill
Manuel will learn the truth when we continue to whip his team’s collective posterior in the second half.
TBF: No chance they did that (requested that Mac not play). None.
This is the first and only time I’ll cheer for a Jason Werth hit. Please God, let Mac get to the plate.
McCann on deck!
July 14th, 200910:37 pm
McCann on deck
Mixxo…I’m jealous. Cheesecake? Yum.
Now that we can tal Baseball, without having some peoples gerbils rubbed in our faces, I am really on the fence on Escobar being traded, and for the Liberal left wingers, If you don’t want to know another man’s opinion of a piece of feces don’t broach the damn subject!
Chop It Up All-Stars
See all these guys with 20 plus homeruns really highlights the dearth of power by the Braves. We need a bopper!!
July 14th, 200910:38 pm
B-Macc Finally coming up!!!
Pitching’s been solid for both squads, once they got Halladay and Lincecum out of there. Go figure.
Werth’s been a Braves killer. Will he be again?
July 14th, 200910:39 pm
Yes, he will.
Oh, well. Mac gets to lead off the eighth.
And Mac will wait.
Not Werth a Damn!
DOB, your jinx couldn’t help Mac in this one.
July 14th, 200910:40 pm
Carl Crawford or King Albert MVP so far….if Bmac hits a HR and you recommend him for mVp will you get funny looks
T-Hawkin Gives a shout out to Soph! And D.O.B…!
This game has been a snorefest! just like the derby!
Still waiting AF Jason: JUST ONE HITTER WHO HAS FLOURISHED UNDER TP……….
I’ll do better than one. Escobar, Diaz, Kotsay, Prado, Laroche, Renteria and several others. Not to mention, the dude is a freaking former MVP. I think he knows something about putting a bat on a ball and, again, he can’t get out there and hit for them. These guys have so many things going through their minds and so many well-meaning batting coaches that sometimes they get jacked up. And sometimes, they just lose it or, more often, can’t adjust to big league pitchers learning how to pitch to them. It’s not all the Batting coach.
Madonna's chin hair
July 14th, 200910:41 pm
Where ARod at? I used to be able to get a man like that before my sex change. Darn that Kate Hudson.
Huh…my last post didn’t show up.
He’s gonna play! WOW! You gotta be kiddin’ me…
Steve from OH
Didn’t Chipper Jones win his first-ever batting title and OBP .470 under TP?
B-Mac has flourished under TP
I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Trading Yunel Escobar is just plain DUMB. You won’t get equal value back because shortstops who can hit .300, 25+ HRs, 20+ SBs with 90+ RBIs never hit the trade block – especially when cheap and young. Is this guy that “hated” in the clubhouse and by Bobby Cox? And, if this is something between Cox and Escobar – well how many more seasons will Cox be around? We don’t even know for sure if Bobby Cox will be the manager in 2010.
I don’t get it – please Frank Wren – keep Escobar – you have already traded Elvis Andrus – we have no more stud shortstops in the minors….
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
