Why trade Escobar? Is he tanking on the injury front?
Has anybody queried Bobby Cox about the bullpen management? Will he do anything differently in the 2nd half to protect the arms?
One more question? Anybody else out there get tired of reading the lips of Cox spewing profanity? I’ve been wathcing it since I was a kid and it’s not something to look up to.
July 14th, 20099:50 pm
agree, SoWeGa, we hadn’t seen nothing yet.
Why are a few bloggers trying to cause Robert to start up again…..let him rest.
July 14th, 20099:51 pm
Isn’t it wonderful to be in a country where you can express your likes and dislikes about a good looking president that is not white while watching a baseball game. Only in America.
As for Escobar, if the Braves trade him, I hope it is to a team in the NL so that he can come back and stick it to them like Frenchy is going to do. God is good.
July 14th, 20099:52 pm
The “Donk”, where???
K with a K
So “Since 66″. I was more shooting for guys you like and those are guys I enjoy or enjoyed hear call a game. So do you like anyone in the booth or do you just mute the game?
If profanity offends you, baseball isn’t your sport.
Greinke with the filthy slider – unfrickinhittable
AFJason – Yeah he can hit alright, but 100 lbs of that is a chip on his shoulder. Terrible attitude in that guy for some reason. Why is he so teed off all the time?
Oh, and that defiant untucking of the jersey after every win. How goofy is that? Does he really hate the old school baseball establishment that much? Is he trying to set some sort of trend? Hate ball?
It’s nice to be able to watch Greinke pitch, even if for only an inning. He really has nasty stuff.
July 14th, 20099:54 pm
Manual will only use Mac if he absolutely has to. Late-game PH probably.
I’m sure he wanted that other game hater in Russell Martin.
July 14th, 20099:55 pm
Mixxo – yeah, don’t really care for Fielder’s attitude at all. No excuse, but he didn’t exactly had the best example to look up to…. A player like Victorino, now that’s a player you don’t mind kids looking up to – just seems to play hard, play right and has a team first mentality.
July 14th, 20099:56 pm
My God Joebrave. Shut it with the political rubbish. Slip a roofy in Ann Coulter’s bloody mary and have a good night.
July 14th, 20099:57 pm
Who is “The Donk?” What does that mean?
Frank Wren is a moron if he trades ONE MORE PRESPECT for a rent-a-player. The BRaves are NOT going to make the playoffs regardless. There is nothing left to say.
any one heard real rumors of who the braves are looking at for a bat
July 14th, 20099:58 pm
Yeesh, Crawford is fast.
OBAMABRAVE=You’re the first to bring up the race card. I do agree GOD is good. Color is not Obama’s problem, we are all Americans.
Sunshine: a guy named Robert has an animal fetish that he projects on Bobby Cox.
July 14th, 20099:59 pm
Mixxo I haven’t officially etched it stone yet…
Manual will only use Mac if he absolutely has to. Late-game PH probably.
AFJason – Gotcha! Victorino is my kinda of player too. Hard-nosed player. I’m not too hip on Cecil’s history, but you’re right….no excuse.
When was the last time Wren gave up prospects for a rental?
“Who is “The Donk?” What does that mean?”
I call Bobby Cox Donk – as in donkey = stupid
Some others also consider the moniker appropriate and also use it when referring to our “esteemed” manager
Aaaand the announcers get in their per inning gushing about Molina’s defensive prowess.
This political junk is more exhausting than Michael Jackson coverage. Chill people.
July 14th, 200910:00 pm
I believe that you have had too many beers. You sound like the yahoo who used to set behind me in right field in the old stadium. Take a chill pill buddy.
hope escobar and jazy isnt traded but we need a bat and who would be nice maybe luke scott or alexis rios
Didn’t Cecil jack Prince ( what kind of name is that ) for like 200k. Priceless!
I’m pretty sure the managers are allowed to put their starting catcher back in if need be… So we may see Mac sooner than the 9th. Hopefully.
Oh yes…of course. I mean, he is good…
Chad is right. The GD MF bombs from Cox are used so frequently they lost their panache about 15 years ago.
Kind of miss Maddux screaming F__K!!! about 10 times a game, though.
No, not really.
Crawford = a ballplayer
July 14th, 200910:01 pm
Oh no, not “The Donk!” Lord help us!
In all fairness, Molina really is an outstanding defensive backstop. Infinitely better than McCann–not to say I wouldn’t rather have Mac though.
July 14th, 200910:02 pm
The Donkey in the dugout.
More annoying than Cox’s profanity was Andruw’s stupid-ass grinning after very strikeout. Ad we would see that about 2-3 times a game.
July 14th, 200910:03 pm
Good play by Pujols there. If Ichiro had been going straight for the bag, and not for the takout slide that throw might have hit him.
I’m not saying Molina isn’t good. Just that… I get it. Guy can throw out runners. Check. Don’t need to remind me constantly.
Then again, I’m biased and want to see Mac in there… where he deserves to be.
“Who is “The Donk?” What does that mean?”
Sunshine, that means Robert is and idiot.
July 14th, 200910:04 pm
is there any way we could get huff and scott from the orioles to me it would help abunch
Wish we could get Crawford. Believe he will be free agent next year?
Loaf playin’ left?????
Now that was a good piece of hitting right there. Sweet knock the other way.
Billingsley the choke artist.
Is it odd that every time I see Mark Teixeira, I feel like I’ve been molested? But I digress.
Mauer tied the game? No?
Even with interleague, it’s amazing how few ABs some of these guys have against opposing pitchers. And when you think about how they face somebody’s ace or top gun for one AB, tops, it shows just how good some of these hitters are.
Braves Hero Zero
July 14th, 200910:05 pm
They are trading Escobar over a “bat-flip”?
The Organization should be able to stop him from doing this without trading him.
The Braves better receive something good in return for Escobar, and not more “platoon players”.
What team trades one of their young mainstays because he offended some of the opposing teams with a bat-flip? lol.
July 14th, 2009
Some folks look at Jeff and see a Maserati, while others see the pickup truck from Sanford & Son. Truth be told it’s probably somewhere in the middle, but leaning toward Fred & Lamont’s side.
ugggg, tied. Seems like this is a re-run of the last few AS games where the NL takes the lead then the AL comes right back to tie or take the lead.
DOB @7:07pm: “Have those people been in comas or just away from this continent for the past two years?”
Dunno where they’ve been, but they sure seem to like hangin’ out around your little spot on the ethertubes lately.
July 14th, 200910:06 pm
God is good and the truth shall keep us all free. God bless America!!!
Big Albert made two huge plays. That was robbery of Tex.
I miss Vasquez, Jurrjens, and Hanson…
Callin’ it now… Mac walk-off in the 9th. MVP.
Pujols is showing out defensively after the error early. Freak.
July 14th, 200910:07 pm
That Pujols is quite a player. Casey Kotchman, while good, would not have made that play.
David have you heard any rumors on who the braves are loking at as far as a bat
fsu#1 agree. The Orioles has 5 good players Braves should take about.
Now the All-Star experience is officially most excellent. Just got introduced to Sheryl Crow by a very cool Atlantan who plays in her band. Hey now.
July 14th, 200910:08 pm
Bill, me too. Crawford would look nice with a tomahawk across his chest. Only, where will the power come from? Not Chipper, maybe some from McCann and McLouth, definitely not Kotchman, but speed is always nice.
I think Kotch makes that play. He may not be able to hit much, but the guy knows what to do with a glove.
Haha, I like to think of him as a supercharged engine in a Pinto… Kinda pointless if you ask me.
Any word if Houston is gonna be selling or at least talking about trading some of their guys?

Yeah, lets ask Houston if Mike Hampton is available! I hear that guys good. Just haven’t seen him pitch much in the past 5 years. Where’s he been?
Kurdt I’m not saying Molina isn’t good. Just that… I get it. Guy can throw out runners. Check. Don’t need to remind me constantly.
With you all the way there.
DOB, hook up with her! She might be an undercover Braves fan and need some of your insight.
Is it odd that every time I see Mark Teixeira, I feel like I’ve been molested? But I digress. – Hedley Lamarr
July 14th, 200910:12 pm
Thanks Bill I have been saying this for awhile you got 2 20+ home run hitters and probably wouldnt cost much
TnBrian, Braves could go after power hitting 1st baseman…..Adrian?
July 14th, 200910:13 pm
Terry Pendleton: Great Player, Great Coach, Not so Great Hitting Coach! I am tired of seeing Andruw, Frenchy, KJ, Kotchman, and virtually every other Braves hitter regress under the tutelage of TP. Frenchy traded, Yunel slandered by the media, and Andruw’s offense given up for dead. KJ and Schafer regressing profoundly. What about Kotchman, the .300 hitting Angel being benched. I love TP as a coach, but as a hitting coach, he isn’t Don Baylor! Nor is he Pat Corrales. Please Bobby, quit givin this guy a free pass. Move him to the bench or 3B, 1B, wherever but the offense sux and that is directly reflective of poor coaching, not scouting the opposing pitchers and a general lack of communication with regards to hitting philosophy. Jeff pissed off management by going to Rudy Jaramillo in the off season. At least he was trying to get some help as he obviously had virtually NO FAITH in TP. Since leaving TP, Andruw has gotten better. Bryan McCann (a catcher) notwithstanding, every Braves hitter has regressed and failed to improve under TP, and before you say Chipper, where the hell has his power gone? Kotch, KJ, Yunel, Chipper, Schafer, Frenchy, even Matt Diaz last year. STOP BLAMING THE PLAYERS! THEY NEED SOLID COACHING! We are only as good as our weakest link, and unfortunately, when it comes to hitting, we don’t seem to have a clue! I got an idea: Trade Roger McDowell for Rudy Jaramillo and bring back Mazzone!
July 14th, 200910:14 pm
From Bowmen: McCann won’t have to wait around as long this year to enter the game. The 25-year-old catcher is expecting to enter in the sixth inning which means we’ll likely get to see him get at least one at-bat. He is hitless in his two career All-Star Game at-bats.
Which 5 All-Star MVPs have played in Atlanta?
You guys need to tell me who you’d vote for for MVP as we get into 7th inning. I get one of the votes as an “official scorer.”
Put Mac In!!!
July 14th, 200910:15 pm
Bill, I wouldn’t hold my breath on that guy. I’m just going by what that SD GM put baseball through last offseason with Peavy. But, anything is possible.
Thank God Hoffman is in in the 6th, not the 9th. Bad memories…
Maybe the bottom half…?
Kurdt Hoffman is in in the 6th, not the 9th. Bad memories…
July 14th, 200910:16 pm
Hamilton will “out stoner” that Linecum boy by a stretch!
Good for you DOB! What’s it like to actually meet a celebrity crush in person? You’d have to scrape me off the floor if I ever met Gerard Butler. That, and I know I’d forget how to speak English or something equally as embarrassing.
July 14th, 200910:18 pm
Can’t believe a place that’s as great a baseball town as this doesn’t have OBP on the scoreboard (they do at Turner and plenty of other ballparks)
THis Taco Bell commercial has lasted about 2 min too long.
Trading Escobar would be nonsense. Look at his numbers and he plays a good shortstop. To hear Joe Simpson tell it, Escobar is personally responsilbe for all 45 of the Braves’ losses. I hate to think where the Braves would be without Escobar. All Simpson knows about baseball is that he wasn’t very good at it.
What a stupid comercial… All about the Roosevelts?
Dave O’Bien, You should be so lucky !!
Ryan Church= Todd Hollandsworth. Here today, gone tomorrow, little impact. But it’s still good to be rid of Frenchy. And anything more than a bucket of balls is a steal for the Braves. I still wanna see Diaz get more plate time, whether it be at the expense of the LF Loafer or Church. Stat to watch for during Mets-Braves series: Frenchy will lead both team in DP’s and LOB’s. Count on it.
July 14th, 200910:19 pm
DOB meets scores the game, votes on the MVP, and meets Cheryl…. livin’ the dream.
NO MORE BOBBY
Funny that Taco Bell shows music videos and MTV doesn’t.
Whoever the marketing director for Taco Bell is needs to be executed by firing squad. These horrendous commercials are worse than genital warts.
TBF(n)K as Billy
lol what 3 or 4 all star games and only have 2 AB’s thats wrong
O-Dog got a good rip on that one, got it to the track. Up comes The Machine.
July 14th, 200910:20 pm
And that ass clown comes back from commercial saying “Its all about the Roosevelts baby” WTH, too weird!
Obviously, Church is the bridge to Heyward
No OBP in STL? I bet JF wishes he could have been traded to the Cards, huh?
No MVP yet– still to be decided. Hopefully Mac.
Heh. Tomahawkin’s imagination is going to go
into overdrive when he finds out you met
Thousands of flash bulbs go off every pitch to Pujols. Crazy love for that dude from these folks.
My afternoon prediction is setting up nicely.
Mac hits the game winning homer. Watch!
July 14th, 200910:21 pm
Hedley Lamarr -
I take it you have personal experience with that? I’ll just take your word for it.
did they say Mac was in?….looks like he is though
