McCann >>>>>>>>>>>>>> other catchers including the young Molina
NL is not looking good except in girth
JoeB: You can have the “honor” of holding Ronnie’s jockey.
The Barackalyspe is upon us!!!!
Also AL wins. Game.
July 14th, 20099:09 pm
Joebrave……….didnt Ronald Regean forget where he placed his jockstrap?
Frank from KS (now living in CO)
Thanks…your right. Reuschel did give up the HR in Anaheim to Bo.
NO MORE BOBBY
I take back my thinking the Presidents pitch was a cover up. After that missed play at third by the camera crew, I think they just suck.
Steve from OH,
I was really enjoying your 8:51, but I gave out before I finished. You are a posting machine! Good job for the part I read.
I say, Halladay for Escobar and Jurrgens. We have to block Phillie from acquring Halladay.
July 14th, 20099:11 pm
aw come on Dave! You gotta get on Twitter! Jeff Schultz beat you to it haha.
K with a K
Lew, No not counting OBP just the old school Triple Crown AVG,HR,RBI…it would be cool to see and if anyone can do it he can. I would love to see it happen.
K with a K: Wasn’t a bad pitch at all, Albert caught it basket style, but he didn’t bounce it and it was down the middle.
Steve from OH
SoWeGa–in fairness, Plate Appearance co-wrote half of that post with me…well, at least the funny half.
July 14th, 20099:12 pm
I don’t know about the rest of ya…..but I’m pulling for the NL.
The NL hasn’t won since 96.
Wasn’t that the ASG that McGriff hit the GW HR in Three-Rivers?
Anyone else think pitchers batting in the All-Star game is more than a little bit silly?
Looks like another A.L blowout. Where did Halladay get that batting helmet, Wal Mart? Jeez!
July 14th, 20099:13 pm
Hopefully the front office hasn’t lost the lesson with the Mark Texiara deal. Gave up 2 decent prospects who are on the ML roster in Texas for a big bat that is now in NY. Please don’t go after Holliday — not worth it!
Somehow I can’t help but feel that the first inning was Bobby Cox’s fault…
July 14th, 20099:14 pm
July 14th, 20099:15 pm
I’m not so sure that even the Smithsonian would want to touch, much less carry Reagan’s jockstrap at this point in time.
I have to say. I am watching this game on SILENT. There are no two worse announcers in baseball other than Buck and McCarver. you can throw in those 2 boobs on ESPN Sunday Night baseball right there with them. If they had an announcer contest, neither would win.
Nolie – you are correct – I was just telling a young lady that the great player I just missed was Ted Williams. I saw Mickey and Yogi and Roger and Al Kaline in person – and Clete Boyer change his pants in the dugout.
July 14th, 20099:16 pm
K with a K-Dude, that was a joke.
July 14th, 20099:17 pm
I muted my tv… Cant stand to see these guy drivel over the ONE!
Come on Halladay, 3 up, 3 down so I can turn the sound back on.
July 14th, 20099:19 pm
Let’s not mention Donk tonigh. We have three entire days where we can be positive he isnt going to blow a game. That only happens once a year in-season. Enjoy it. He’ll be back to driving us batty with his idiocy soon enough
July 14th, 20099:20 pm
THAT PITCH WAS 2 FEET IN FRONT OF THE PLATE!!!
Great. Now we get to read Paul Lentz’s political novels right here from the comfort of our own homes (or Starbucks, if you want people to think you’re smart).
Thought it was Lew but was not sure…The Frenchy Triple Crown would be 1st pitch swing %,Piches swung at in the dirt, and most time wearing turkey underwear.
People assessing the Church trade have to look at RF before and after. As far as the Braves’ everyday lineup numbers are concerned, it was not just swapping JF for Church, it was JF for the new platoon of Church and Diaz. Check out those numbers and see if the team is not significantly better in RF now.
July 14th, 20099:21 pm
All that “warming up” and “practicing in the Rose Garden” and he still throws like a girl.
July 14th, 20099:22 pm
JoeBrave = DB
Wren- Don’t trade Escobar or you are a moron.
July 14th, 20099:23 pm
Yep! I was right. The camera crew sucks tonight. Not a cover up.
Does anyone think Lincecum looks like he could be Halladay’s kid in the picture DOB posted on the blog?
TBF(n)K as Billy
some all stars…what up with the defence.
Lentz, wasn’t talking about you.
July 14th, 20099:24 pm
Thata boy Yadier
We’re ruling hit, one RBI and E8
Some people here just can’t get it. Nobody cares who you like or you don’t like on this basbeall/braves blog. Obama isn’t the first president they have talked to and won’t be the last. They talked to Bush when we played in Washington. Be a big kid and realize these guys don’t even talk politics when they do these interviews. Grow up kiddies, grow up.
DOB – so far it looks like your guarantee on the NL winning is as much blind homerness as your thoughts on the Braves. Your blind homerness knows no boundaries. Where is Robert? We need some sanity.
Huzzah! NL comin at ya!
Hey! Even the All-Stars throw it around the diamond!
9/11… The Iraq War… The economy crashing… who was the one constant?
You guessed it… Bobby Cox. What does that tell you?
Hey Buck actually said something insightful – “The National League needs a bailout” LOLOL And Obama’s response equally insightful – “We are out of money” Damn straight we are!!!
At this point, I would have to be blown away for a trade for Escobar. He is one of our few bats we have in the line up.
July 14th, 20099:25 pm
Thank God Molina is our catcher!
For the love of God, folks, can we please take this elsewhere? Please? Can someone write a Francoeur post I can rip?
July 14th, 20099:26 pm
Runners at first and second…you know…
N.L actually sacking up, for once. The two best pitchers in the game touched for 5 runs in 2 innings. Who say that coming?
Joe Schmoe-My point exactly.
July 14th, 20099:27 pm
TAKE ALL THAT PRESIDENT TALK TO A CNN BLOG!!!!
Let’s go NL
When’s the last time there was, like, a 12-10 All-Star Game?…
Wait, I’ll look it up myself.
It was 13-8 at Coors Field in 1998, AL won
July 14th, 20099:28 pm
Trading Escobar is just senseless. To have so much patience for guys like KJ, Frenchy, and Schafer, and have such a short leash on Escobar… That’s just stupid. We had three guys murdering the team’s chances to win a game given 3 times more chances to right the ship than any other team, but with Escobar who actually contributes to the team we give him a 2 strikes and you’re out policy.
Just no more moves. We have a decent make-up for the rest of the season and a decent foundation for the future, just leave it alone before you screw it up.
Sump’n tells me Heap is goin’ deep in this one. Yard-style!
What’s more annoying than constant posts regarding Frenchy, Bobby Cox and how Wren needs to be fired?
Constant posts denouncing another’s political views on a baseball blog.
July 14th, 20099:29 pm
Paul Lentz and Robert all posting their dribble ad nauseum. Time to turn the computer off and enjoy the All Star Game.
DOB… I thought politics were off limits on this blog?
GO NATIONAL LEAGUE!!!
That’d be nice…but let’s stop saying it!
David Wright runs like a girl
July 14th, 20099:31 pm
I just reported several of your posts and some of the others that are talking politics. Keep it up. Maybe they will ban you for life. I’m going to report everyone that you post.
Well said, Roy. Well said…
Is this amateur hour on Fox Sports? I cant stand any Fox Sports announced or produced games!
even if I agree with someone’s political views I have no desire to see them here and can care less about political views, and yes that includes views on both the right and the left
July 14th, 20099:32 pm
And no one cares about any of your peoples’ political dripple. All politicians are shoving it up your rear-end and if you believe anything different you’re as naive as your are guilable. Politics is a multi-trillion dollar industry. NO MORE DUCKWALKING, BASEBALL IS LIFE AND EVERYTHING ELSE!
I know I commented on it but lets not do politics…you have enough things to disagree about from Frenchy, Bobby, trade for hoiday than to start a really unwinable blog fight about politics especially with people who have been adamant as something simple as a baseball manager.
Andy C, Wow !!!!
There is a guy with the sweetest goatee ever on the hill right now, and all you nitwits can talk about is politics.
You gotta love the NL. We get a one run lead in the 2nd and bring in closers in the 3rd.
Steve from OH…………this all started because some MORON said that “doesnt O’bama have a country to run”? I was just saying that Presidents throughout American history have attended sporting events and thrown out first pitches.
July 14th, 20099:33 pm
I will try to learn to spell in the mean time too. LOL
Couldn’t agree with you more Marc. All these nonsensical trade suggestions. Time to Sell. Why not just stay pat till the offseason. See how Tim Hudson pans out. See if we can sign one of these closers. Some people just have a fixation with becoming the Pittsburgh Pirates.
July 14th, 20099:34 pm
I have posted nothing on politics
July 14th, 20099:35 pm
How do they award the Win in the All Star game? Is Lincecum in line for it right now? I can’t remember if it is like Spring Training where you don’t have to go 5 to get the W. Anybody know?
McFann – I haven’t officially etched it stone yet, but yeah, that’d be nice.
OK, I’ll stop.
July 14th, 20099:36 pm
DOB, did I miss something on here? Are you the official scorer for the game tonight?
Wow !, I guess Joebrave was exiled ! You know what I mean !
I was just saying that Presidents throughout American history have attended sporting events and thrown out first pitches.
What a fat load of BS. Apparently you didn’t read your 9:30 and 9:27, for starters?
If the score holds, Linecum gets credited with the W.
Hey Robert – if you’re watching the game, I bet you are thinking that “the Donk” isn’t the only manager that doesn’t know how to manage a bullpen.
July 14th, 20099:37 pm
NL must win tonight so Braves will have home field advantage…….Don’t trade Esco!
I doubt this score holds, Paul.
July 14th, 20099:38 pm
McCann hits a 2-run homer in the 9th to win it for the NL, bets?
If we can get a stop gap SS and a couple good prospects, dump Escobar yesterday!
We aint winning it this year folks; we need to do what other clubs have done to us lately.
Enough about who you hate. Who are ya’lls favorite baseball callers of all time. For me it’s Harry Carey, Jack Buck, Skip, Vin Scully and Bob Costas(I know he is not just basball) and Joe and Boog are really growing on me. What about you guys???
Paul Lentz, One of the blog rules is NO POLITICS!!! Also, our President’s name is spelled Obama NOT O’Bama. It’s interesting that a man who calls so many people “moron” can’t even correctly spell the name of our President.
July 14th, 20099:39 pm
“Hey Robert – if you’re watching the game, I bet you are thinking that “the Donk” isn’t the only manager that doesn’t know how to manage a bullpen.”
No, for a number of reasons
1) I dont care how anyone else manages another team’s bullpen
2) Trying to enjoy one night where I can be positive that Bozo the Clown isnt gonna waddle out of the dugout and turn a victory into a loss, so not thinking about Donk
Now stop mentioning him tonight
July 14th, 20099:41 pm
Fred he thought he was from ALA-bama
In Buster’s blog today he talked about how he feels that players lost focus the last week before the break, looking sluggish and ready for a break. He thinks it is because they don’t have access to the drugs that they once did. I know you have mentioned that a lot of the Braves drink coffee now, would you say that a greater percentage of players in the clubhouse do that or something else to boost their energy like drink the Red Bulls and Full Throttles before games?
James is Red
DOB – The in-game scoring stuff is fantastic and taking the experiences you share with us to a whole new level. Nicely done and thanks.
So, I just heard a very interesting (if not somewhat depressing) interview with Kevin Goldstein at BP.
Good stuff on what the Braves should do at the trade deadline and a lot specifics on the farm system.
K with a K – I LOVE me some Bob Costas. And I agree with you on Joe and Boog. Their chemistry has grown tremendously this year and they’ve become very, very good.
July 14th, 20099:43 pm
No I didn’t spell people like that ! Sorry !!
“If Obama hadn’t done anything, we’d be in a FULL BLOWN DEPRESSION right now.”
What a moron, Paul. If he hadn’t done his spending spree, we’d be pulling out of it now! FDR did the same crap and spun us into a depression. Recessions typically run 18-24 months IF THE GOVERNMENT DOESN’T PROLONG IT WITH ITS TAMPERING. Study a little history.
Have you convinced any pro-Bobby guys that he sucks yet? I’d be surprised after three+ years you have gotten 5 people.
July 14th, 20099:44 pm
That’s not an error – Joe Buck just didn’t see it. Hit victorino’s shoulder.
July 14th, 20099:46 pm
Phillies finalize deal with Pedro. Probably won’t be a game-changer, IMO.
Prince Fielder looks like he’s 400lbs, but good lord he can hit.
July 14th, 20099:47 pm
Sorry for the politics, folks. Got carried away. No mas.
July 14th, 20099:48 pm
Is McCann going to ever get in this game? seeing as Molina is the undeserving home town boy, and Manual hates the Braves.
Mac probably only got on the roster cause the Braves had to have one guy on there. I’m sure Manual would have rather brought Paul Bako along…
Watching The Braves Since '66
To K with a K,
As a native Atlantan (used to listen to him do Hawks games in the 70’s), I personally didn’t like Skip Carey’s work… Too sarcastic for me… Can’t believe anyone would rate him, Scully or Costas as favorites… Costas is one of the all-time self-important jackasses…
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
