Uh oh Forshadowing there … looks like Curtis Granderson might get that edge over Crawford. Either or who cares. We aint winning this one.
TBF(n)K as Billy
I think Crawford or Granderson with the go ahead run. Your pick DOB
Chop It Up All-Stars
July 14th, 200911:19 pm
Granderson is my choice if the AL wins.
DOB please go back to page 1 and read
the comment at 5:32 and then stop doing that!
Mauer/Crawford. Crawford scored a run and took one away. Mauer drove in a run and scored a run. But have equally effected the game so far.
Jeter’s all….yup, that’s my boy out there…
Bud Selig should just award the A.L. home-field advantage every year by default. He’d have the same result. THE NATIONAL LEAGUE HAS NOT HAD HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGE IN THE WORLD SERIES SINCE 2001!!!!!!!!!! Get that? We are approaching a whole DECADE since the N.L. has had that advantage! Is that fair? HELL NO IT ISN’T!!!!!!!!!
DOB what do you hold more important the catch or the triple and the winning run?
Wayne in Utah
July 14th, 200911:20 pm
I blame TP for this … 3 runs … come on now
I’m thinking the Triple made it happen and scored the winning run so now I think Granderson.
July 14th, 200911:21 pm
Mo is downright nasty!
My vote is for Granderson.
Gawd That Game Was Boring!!!
The NL suck-fest continues. That felt just like a Braves game.
I vote for No MVP. This game was boring.
Looking like we (the Braves) open the WS at the new Yankee Stadium this year.
Steve from OH
Well, preventing one run and creating one run are equivalent, so it’s the blogmeister’s discretion, IMO…
July 14th, 200911:22 pm
Phillie Dynasty! Haah! Been waiting 128 years to say that huh phillies. Never gonna happen.
no way you have a chance against that trio of closers
Granderson for MVP. His triple was what really broke the tie.
National League should refuse to participate in the allstar until the American League starts playing real baseball and requires their pitchers to hit.
RHR – you crack me up when you get on DOB for his predictions!
Good choice, DOB.
National League = Washington Generals
Ugh. I hate the AL. I’m boycotting these till the NL wins one.
Manuel is probably just upset at the Braves because he can’t beat us. Sorry Charlie, your team stinks and wont win another title.
July 14th, 200911:23 pm
lol…DOB with the scoop. how many fans have the access we have….cool
Braves 2 games under .500 on the road right now.
Means they’ll have to win at least 2 games on the road if they want to win the World Series this year. JJ should pitch game 1 with DLowe pitching game 2
Co-Sign, It felt like a braves home game BORING!!!
Crawford saved the go ahead run, granderson set up and scored the go ahead run. Are you an offense man or a defense man? Your answer is your vote.
July 14th, 200911:24 pm
I’m with you Superhoo
July 14th, 200911:25 pm
the defensive plays in this game was worth watching the game…not much drama…I’d give it a C+/B-, worth my time
That was the most boring All-Star game I can remember.
July 14th, 200911:26 pm
How about the Braves scouts?
P Tyrelle Harris, drafted in the 19th round by the Braves, put up pretty ugly stats at Tennessee(at least for his SR. year). All of a sudden he gets to pro ball, he blows through Appalachian League hitters as he gets promoted to Rome.
And in Rome, he has gone 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA in 7.1 IP. He’s only walked 2 and has struck out 11.
Great find by the Braves.
THE ALL-STAR GAME SHOULD NOT DECIDE WORLD SERIES HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AL ticks me off…another win…
Well, that really was a snooze fest. Night to all!
Its a damn joke letting All Star game decide home- field for World Series.
DOB whats the trade talk in press box.
THE ALL-STAR GAME SHOULD NOT DECIDE WORLD SERIES HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here’s a little something for you guys to chew on. Who was the last NL Manager to win the All-Star game?
July 14th, 200911:27 pm
THE ALL-STAR GAME SHOULD NOT DECIDE WORLD SERIES HOME-FIELD ADVANTAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FloridaBrave–I saw that, but the only prospect I was planning on hugging tonight was Erik Cordier…
Tomahawkin’ you are sooo right on this game. Can we say BORRRRRING???
Not even a single HR in this ALL STAR GAME not even one! Quick at bats and not a lot of drama. Probably the worst I have witnessed in a long while.
July 14th, 200911:28 pm
RHR – you crack me up when you get on DOB for his predictions!
well damn. You’d think he’d get it by now. I mean, i let it go the first 16 times he did it but enough is enough.
My vote goes for Howard
DOB prob went down to club house…not post from him in awhile
Paul Lentz, Cox in ‘96
July 14th, 200911:29 pm
Paul L. Who was the last NL Manager to win the All-Star game?
Oo! Oo! I know this one! We last won in ‘96, right…?
Well Lentz they’ve been saying all night last time NL won was 1996 and we all know who won the series in 95 so it must be the guy a bunch of people on here loves to kill, no?
The NL can’t win the All-Star Game. No matter what happens.
Next year I’ll pick the AL. That’s the only way to stop their run.
1) Way to shout that
2) Way to shout that twice
3) Why do we care?
Oh well. Night, all.
Shawn…………………I know, lol. I just wanted to see if anyone on here could pick up on that.
July 14th, 200911:30 pm
Lentz, Slobby Cox in ‘96 which is so unreal it’s been that long.
why must a baseball game be defined by the HR….how can you not appreciate the defensive plays made by werth, crawford, pujols.
Dave, I suggest you write a lenghty blog detailing why the Braves won’t make the playoffs for the second half…
K with a K
July 14th, 200911:32 pm
DOB please try to get Manuel’s reasoning for Mac’s lack of playing time tonight!!!
July 14th, 200911:33 pm
TBF, A baseball game isnt defined by the HR. Crawford won the MVP because of his great defensive catch.
July 14th, 200911:34 pm
Every interview its Obama baby….change we can believe in….give’m hell.
July 14th, 200911:35 pm
He probably has something personal against McCann and the Braves. I think I saw ol Chuck mouthing “McCann couldn’t hit water if he dove into a pool” in the dugout.
Stephen Colbert is hilarious…
July 14th, 200911:36 pm
Dob @ 11:29 – there you go, old dog. New tricks. Dont forget.
And especially dont forget when you get back on the braves beat thursday. Not one word about how bad the mets and/or jeff france have been. All you need is – “The braves suck and rhr will never win the lottery.”
coxlover i was responding to the comment by a previous blogger
“Not even a single HR in this ALL STAR GAME not even one! Quick at bats and not a lot of drama. Probably the worst I have witnessed in a long while.”
July 14th, 200911:37 pm
i’ve never understood why baseball can’t be like every other sport and give home field advantage to the team with the best record.
i heard some ridiculous argument that they couldn’t do it that way because of planning, but under the current system they still don’t know what city is hosting the series until that team wins the lcs. i dont see how it would be any different if they did it based on record.
July 14th, 200911:38 pm
whats up with the west wing theme song
July 14th, 200911:39 pm
It’s a shame that the AJC’s staff evaluated every aspect of the Braves but manager and coaches.I wonder what grade they would have gotten.I propose we trade the HOF Manager to anyone that would just love for him to manage their team.He wins all these polls,so I know he would be in great demand.I think players vote for him just so the Braves won’t put get rid of him and they have a good laugh.Keep him around and you don’t have to worry about the Braves.Bobby has caused the Braves to lose more than Escabor has done questionable acts.
That All Star theme music never ever gets old
NO MORE BOBBY
July 14th, 200911:40 pm
1984 All Star starters….
* C Gary Carter: Montreal Expos
* 1B Steve Garvey: San Diego Padres
* 2B Ryne Sandberg: Chicago Cubs
* 3B Mike Schmidt: Philadelphia Phillies
* SS Ozzie Smith: St. Louis Cardinals
* LF Tony Gwynn: San Diego Padres
* CF Dale Murphy: Atlanta Braves
* RF Darryl Strawberry: New York Mets
Look at these names compared to kind of names playing now for NL. I know a lot of it has to do with I was a kid and these were my hero’s but the quality of All Stars for NL has been weak for a long time now. Maybe two hall of famers in the NL starters this year compared to the old school rosters. Weak.
July 14th, 200911:42 pm
Matt… I agree wholeheartedly.
Once again I can’t enjoy a close ASG because the NL just lost home field. Now I have to suffer through the Mets series as Frenchy and his team spank my Braves. Thanks Frank. Next time look OUTSIDE the division if you have a player that needs a change of scenery to get it going.
Who gets traded before the end of the week? Escobar, Halladay, Vazquez, or Carlos Boozer?
July 14th, 200911:43 pm
NO MORE BOBBY: That’s what fan voting gets you…
RHR – you seem to be having fun again tonight.
cabravesfan – are you out there? Haven’t heard from you in a while.
July 14th, 200911:44 pm
MATT – Im pretty sure the majority of baseball fans plus even players/managers dislike this stupid idea of one game meaning so much.
Putting into perspective lets see who had the game winning hit and the losing pitcher. Both were reperesented by last place teams – Orioles and Padres. How can two players who play for piss poor teams be the one who determines things which they BOTH will not be a part of?
Interleague Play makes the most sense as the entire roster is involved from ALL teams and not just the stupid idea that every team should be represented. If Bud Selig should continue to do this its plain wrong.
I do like all teams represented but dont make this game for the fans so important.
I’d take THIS N.L. team in a 7-game series over the winning team today.
Did anyone else notice how deadly quiet it was in the stadium in the bottom of the 9th, when the “home team” was down by a run? It has officially become the Who Gives A Damn game.
I’m here- sorry, a little distracted tonight
July 14th, 200911:45 pm
Wow… How’s this for interesting. The last time the NL won an All Star Game, Bobby Cox was the manager and OZZIE SMITH played on the NL team.
Barry Bonnell Lives
A couple of extra biscuits and gravy would’a solved that warning track power in the seventh. That’s some mean AL voodoo.
Probably Bobby’s fault
July 14th, 200911:47 pm
Lowe vs. Perez…please. D-Lowe shouldn’t even have to pitch as well as he did against Col. to get the win, Perez is that bad. The Bravos just need to be patient and watch the wild thang go at it. I have a feeling we’ll win the series against the Mutts.
July 14th, 200911:48 pm
cabravesfan – I understand the distraction, it was an exciting game. But you should pay some attention to your fan base out here.
July 14th, 200911:49 pm
when will people understand that if reporter pisses off the management they will get a great story but never get another…nature of the beast…DOB is’nt a expose writer or columist, his job is to write about articles on what the braves do, not what they should do….thats whats wrong with the media these days they all ways have to add thier critique or analysis….thats why i appreciate our beat guy he reports the Braves news accurately as he possibly can and lets the reader decide what his opinion is.
DOB, did you get Ms. Crow’s number?
And this means something? It means that it has lost more interest than prior to the tie back in Milwaukee.
The MLB ALL STAR GAME will never be as exciting as it was when we were young, before everyone could see any game anytime on tv or their computer..not to mention interleague play.
Its not that cool anymore. These guys have have played vs. each other so its lost is luster i think.
July 14th, 200911:50 pm
in other words, the facts nothing but the facts.
The Mets are the second banana, the Cubs are the Cubs, the Dodgers have gotten a wee bit tight for the money they make, and the rest of the NL teams muddle along.
Is it just me, or is the AL the better league in terms of financial stability, more stars, and better management?
I have a fan base? cool Sorry I’ve been ignoring you all!
July 14th, 200911:51 pm
Come one Dave…do some research…Soriano would not be the Cards closer..their closer is in the All-Start game..for 6 mil, forget about it…he’s over paid.
Driver8… Good point!
If they want to make this game so important stop letting the fans pick the starting position players and stop making it a requirement to have each team represented.
July 14th, 200911:56 pm
NO MORE BOBBY,
I think it has something to do with three best playerts in the NL play the same position…Feilder, Howard, and King Albert all play the same position. The fans who pick molina over mccann. The manager picking duke over Soriano. thats why
July 14th, 200911:58 pm
How does one go about petitioning Bud Selig to change how the rosters are selected? Shouldn’t home field be decided by regular season record? I’d be happier if the All-Star game was the tiebreaker if the teams had identical regular season records.
National League would have been much better off with Soriano on the team. Not Heath Bell. I don’t get it.
Driver8 I think your comment is dead on and ends the discussion.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
