Not good news for Gonzo. Hopefully he can get back Thursday after the break and pitch well, for more reasons than just the Braves win/loss record. He is an important piece just in case they decide to sell.
By the way Larry. I agree with you. Bobby Cox is horrible in this bullpen management, but I have yet to see DOB even express a hint of that. Why is that? No More Bobby 2
Anyone who can read between the lines, and I mean even slightly, would clearly see what I’m implying when I point out repeatedly that Gonzalez and Moylan and Soriano are all among major league leaders in appearances despite recent elbow surgeries.
Hell, you don’t even have to read between the lines: I’ve written numerous times this season, on this blog, that Cox is using those guys in games he doesn’t have to, sometimes when the Braves have a six-run lead or whatever. If you don’t read the blog, don’t comment, because you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
You guys are too funny. Francoeur gets a looping hit after getting jammed……and some of you want to jump on the “Jeff Francoeur jock sniffing” bandwagon.
Jeff might have struggled with the Braves the last 2 years but he was a good guy and good teammate Braves fans I hope will greet him with cheers when he comes back to Atlanta the 16th.
if you get a chance, help me out on a BBQ question…
I’ve heard from a few friends for years about how NC Que is so superior to what everyone else eats, and so I got some while in the Chapel Hill/Durham area last week. It seemed to me that the pork was cooked a long long time and was very tender… that was nice. But I’m having a hard time appreciating that sauce….
Remember when Smoltz went to Boston and we got daily Smoltz Watch stories from Braves media? Yeah…that day is coming again. Is the Jeff RBI single in first AB as a Met a Breaking News headline yet?
Plate Appearance………..you are “a day late and a dollar short” with your “update”. I’m watching the game on Direct TV’s MLB Extra Innings package. Francoeur was jammed inside and got lucky with that looping hit that fell in between the first baseman and right fielder.
Saying that looping hit means that Francoeur is headed to stardom with the Mets………is like saying that Francoeur was “cured” when he hit a homer in his first at-bat of the season. I remember how you guys got all “fired up” when he hit that homer.
Sorry scoots, can’t help it. I’m almost on the edge of my seat as to who will say the dumbest thing of the day. Or, in Larry’s case, the most egotistical.

Has Francouer ever took two consecutive pitches in his life? If that wasn’t a kiss ass gesture to the NY fans, and the team, I don’t know what it.. Nice to see him get a hit though.. I just wish it would have been for someone like the Royals instead of the Mets..

I am sorry but as minor as this trade is in the history of the Mets it really shows why they are a loser organization. A hard working player that did EVERYTHING the team asked and produced with moderate results is traded for a guy that has done NOTHING. Lets not BS a BS’er. The Mets have not liked Ryan Church or Schneider from the day they were brought to town. Why is that? All you can ask of someone is to give it their all. I believe both players have. I have not always liked the results but I do know they play hard. I can’t say that for everyone in that dugout and if you ask me with the rumors of Bernazrd recently, I am sure the latin connection is coming up again. Church always seemed like a guy that wanted to say something but didn’t because he was afraid of rocking the boat. I see similar traits in Wright. LoDuca had no problem speaking his mind and where is he now.
I consider the Braves organization to be one of the best in baseball. I would kill to have Bobby Cox as our manager. If he tired of Francoeur then what does that say for what we just traded for. To me this sounds like an NBA trade. The Mets will get a guy and have the option not to tender him a contract so they basically wash their hands of either player for next year.
The only way this trade works is if Minaya has had conversations with other teams for a package. If Church was the problem getting done but Francoeur would suffice then fine. But I doubt that this is the case.
What really pi**es me off is that even though David lennon thinks their will be an organizational review at years end, Minaya will keep his job due to the numerous injuries. Well if he did his job and stocked the farm which he promised to do when he took the job, we would be in better shape. So we will have this crappy team culture next year as well.
We need new blood at the top, especially if players like Reyes, Wright and Beltran are going to be surrounded by players going forward or if we are going to trade one in the off-season. Why is it that Minaya gets a pass? He has been here long enough with well over 100 million to play with. The results and depth should be better.
I feel happy for Church because even though he is going to a team that won’t make the playoffs he will be treated like a pro under Bobby Cox. Our circus continues.

I don’t know what further evidence anybody would need. Regardless of whether he was a “good guy” or not (I live in California but am most impressed with the concept that apparently Atlanta players make themselves so accessible to the general public so as one can gather an honest opinion of the guys true nature) he was dead weitht in the lineup. Had a good game about every 3 weeks, when in the majors you are supposed to have one about every 3 nights, and then be somewhat reliable the rest of the time. And even get hot.
