I’m with ya, Chris. Going to put a pot on right after we get outta the fourth.
Talked to Norton for a while today. Said he hadn’t spoken to any Braves official about what’s going to happen, but it sounded like he might not be surprised if…. well, let’s just say he doesn’t sound as if he’s guaranteed anything.
“We’ll see what happens [this weekend],” he said.
Jman (Release Frenchy NOW!)

Mets are getting pounded. Marlins losing. Phillies hanging on… All won yesterday when we won… Gotta win tonight fellas… Let’s gain some ground!
On a good note, at least he gets to spend the weekend with the team and with his family at their home in the Denver ‘burbs.
Another one over the heart.
Come on Tommy. Buckle down here…
Come On Big Red! Lets Get Outta This! Get Tough!
Rob from SC (Please don't trade Escobar)
July 9th, 200910:13 pm
that was a strike
How hot does Diaz have to be to stay in the lineup?? When Frenchy is hot(he hasn’t been as hot as Diaz is right now in 2 years)..frenchy will never will go 13-26 with a .547 obp in any stretch of games. Play Diaz!! Bobby is an idiot.
Frenchy has 300 ab’s this season, highest total on the team. He has the lowest average among the regulars and lowest obp. Cox has consistently batted him in the 5th and 6th hole. Just imagine if his at bats had been taken by Diaz. Frenchy had a slump all of last year. What will it take to get him back down in the minors and straightened out??
DOB- What choices does Frank Wren have in terms of Norton (and Kelly for that matter)? I know Kelly is out of options, but what happens if Kelly finishes his rehab and the Braves don’t want him back on their roster?
July 9th, 200910:14 pm
This Umpire Is Garbage…
The Umpires of the league this year has resembled the Farce known as the NBA…
So that’s why there’s not been any need for the “bleep” button..
DOB you should ask Cox to explain why he elects to play Francoeur instead of Diaz. It defies common sense and costs the Braves MANY games.
July 9th, 200910:15 pm
DOB I hope they at least treat Norton with some respect since the Glavine/Smoltz debacles. After what Norton has been through in his life, he deserves it imo.
a lot of changeups today
This could very well be Tommy’s last inning. If he can get out of this inning without giving up any more runs, all and all this would be a decent showing considering the venue.
July 9th, 200910:16 pm
Go Vols! But Helton… please grab a seat!
good job kid
I totally agree Andy with you 100%.
great….No Escobar and no Chipper out of an already WEAK offense
Lets get some runs guys.
My wife call Maddux potty mouth
July 9th, 200910:17 pm
in the meantime…the Phillies are about to win in come from behind fashion 9-6
What has Norton been through groundfog?
Someone in the media also has to question the hell out of Bobby’s decision to bat Loaf in the 3rd spot…Is this a joke??
DOB addressed that very issue earlier tonight.

What the heck has gotten into Franceour tonight!
Will the real Francoeur please stand up?
Maybe the Rockies will want Francoeur.
A contract extension can’t be too far down the road
LOL at Francoeur’s 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Francoeur also had two of the Braves’ four hits against Cook in Atl. Maybe Bobby hasn’t completely lost it?
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
uh oh, jeff is trying to improve!
Between them, the Braves have more than 120 career at-bats against Cook.
And one homer.
By Chipper Jones.
How can Cox have made the decision to play Frenchy, oh wait…….
Who is that guy wearing JF’s jersey?
TWO extra base hits in one game? No. Can’t be.
There you go Rob! Trade him now!
EVERYTHING hit to the outfield in this park is either a Double or a Triple….
it is really a joke
and makes bad hitters look average and average hitters look good…
case in point….Francine
July 9th, 200910:20 pm
I think Jeff just bought himself another month on the roster. Excuse me, he just bought himself another month of playing time.
nice job Conrad.
Attaway Brooks. Like this kid.
does JF have the turkey underwear on? where has this been all year. he will have a huge weekend and braves front office will say see we have the guys and he will tank after all star break…uuugggghhhh
Francoer just filled his monthly quota for extra base hits.
Brooksie! Woo hoo.
Jeff’s eight doubles away from my predicted 10 “before the deadline!”
I am not the manager…but I can’t let Hanson pitch here…
I don’t know about this decision with the heart of the Rockies order coming up
While I would “love” to be wrong about Francoeur (because I want to see the Braves win and they could use use some right handed power), I have no reason to believe that Francoeur’s 2-3 night tonight with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs is an “aberration”. Let’s see what happens tomorrow.
July 9th, 200910:21 pm
On Jeff: All he needs is some of that Colorado air
then he can bottle some up and bring it with him everywhere he goes so doesn’t go back into slump mode after they leave Colorado.
maybe Hanson is just in there too bunt
or hit…you all knew what I meant.
Ol’ Brooksy, having a day. First he was happy to meet and get interviewed by Mark Lemke. Then he gets a tie-breaking knock.
I’m glad Bobby didn’t use Diaz to bunt.
Wonder how many (including AJC writers) will say “hey Frenchy is back!!” lol
July 9th, 200910:22 pm
Why leave Hanson in he’s getting rocked. We need all the runs we can.
Damn Hanson, gotta get the bunt down.
July 9th, 200910:23 pm
Terrible effort Tommy……just terrible.
Go to the pen Cox, go to Boone Logan to start the 6th
Second half reformation for Francoeur?
I hope that is all it is. He should not go back out there. The middle of the lineup is coming up and he doesn’t have his best stuff… Don’t put the guy in position to lose. Keep his confidence high.
Robert(Chipper Is The Best)
July 9th, 200910:24 pm
Now, does anybody doubt the effects of Coors Field on hitting. Francouer with 2 doubles in ONE GAME! C’mon!
C’mon Nate ….bust one!
July 9th, 200910:25 pm
Just got in and haven’t had a chance to catch up with all the comments yet. What is the Esco injury? What was the DOB question/answer to/from Bobby about why Jeff has been starting instead of Matt? Doesn’t make any sense even though just saw JF’s double and go-ahead run- still makes no sense. Go Braves!
Someone needs to teach Tommy what pitches to bunt at
Dumb base-running by Conrad, absolutely pathetic.
I don’t like talking about people but that guy behind home plate is UGLY…lol
July 9th, 200910:26 pm
Haha. Good call Roman Gal. Hanson looked bad there, but you’re absolutely right. That was another one of Cox’s idiotic decisions. He reacts to the other manager’s decisions way too often, as well.
That was horrible
conrad is lemke esque, for sure.
From a distance that big woman in the yellow behind the batter looks like she eating somebody’s foot. Check it out.
bad effort by the umpires on that!
How ’bout this one: Since June 28 (before tonight’s game), Braves had best record (7-3), best batting average AND best ERA of the four NL east contenders, who had all played 10 games in that period.
Nice hustle by Joe West! Fat pig!
I am emailing from Denver. Have admired the Atlanta Braves organization for a long time. I have a question about Briann McCann. In most pictures he does not appear to be wearing glasses but in tonights game at Coors field he is wearing them. Can you tell me why? I have followed major league baseball for over fifty years and only remember seeing one other cathcer wear glasses (Clint Courtney). Thanks CR
Heath, I disagree. Not that I don’t want Hanson’s confidence to be high. But you never know when you are going to have one of those 16-15 games at Coors, along with the possibility of extra innings.
We need another inning or two from Tommy. I would expect nothing less than his normal 100 pitches that Bobby allows him to go, unless they really start hammering him out there. He’s just got to learn that in that ballpark, walks are going to come back to haunt you more than in other parks.
July 9th, 200910:27 pm
cost us runners at first and second and one out
July 9th, 200910:28 pm
Gotta win to keep up with the Phils.
Conrad’s gotta be a bit more heads up then that…not entirly his fault but…
MVP! MVP! MVP!
July 9th, 200910:29 pm
1- trade fancoeur TONIGHT
2- Awful baserunning. the play was DIRECTLY in front of him. Inexcusable baseball AGAIN from this team….and that comes from management
McCann had blurry vision earlier this year and it was determined he needed glasses.
Country Joe West just cost us a run!
Garrett Anderson up…3 outs.
Prado just doesn’t stop hitting. And he hits everything hard. He’s for real!
Will Garrett Anderson NOT swing at the FIRST PITCH this time?????
With the All-Star break coming up, don’t you have to manage each of these games like they are game 7 in the World Series? The pitchers will have plenty rest.
Pinch hit with Diaz
Anderson doesn’t look like he wants to play D anyway
Well that baserunning blunder cost the Braves a run-this team cannot afford these mistakes
Hows the Rockies pen? Anyone know?
July 9th, 200910:30 pm
Now ya hit Diaz… Sit Loaf
I wonder if Kellly was healthy if Prado would be riding the bench along with Diaz? What do you think?
Seems strange that he doesn’t let Cook go after 0-3, 4-LOB GA.
hard to pin it on Conrad when no umpire made a dam call!
Joe West zoned out and was too fat to move anyway
Wes that was on the umpires. Brooks couldn’t see it and the umpires did not make the call properly.
UNC-does GA have frenchyitis?
GA is due…plus he hits better against lefties.
Nothing Conrad can do on that one. Not his fault at all.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
