Conrad does sort of look like Uggla. But that doesn’t endear me to him…
that triple came 2 outs to late

Heyward 1-1 2B
He will be here soon
I think Wren needs to move Huddy and Lowe (if at all possible) in the off season, and keep Vazquez. He’s still relatively young and has the “stuff” to be an ace. He can mowe down many people at a time. I find it unfathomable that people are clamoring for his trade so we can get a right handed bat. Except for 2 starts, this guy has been lights out all year. Hudson was never this consistent in a Braves uniform.
The “one bad inning” stigma attached to Javy has thus far been an exaggeration.
are you calling Uggla ugly.
The pissed off BLOG
are you sayin uggla is uggli?
July 7th, 20098:26 pm
TnBrian you really do feel Mac’s pain with him when he struggles, don’t you?
Yes…I really do.
DOB, my phantom post with the prediction for a Braves series win?
We’re cursed now.
What is the deal with that place anyway? Come on Brooks, make your own luck. A little to the left next time.
Hoover’s mine! haha We can share…he’s a good pick. Huge fastball, four pitch repertoire, and a fantastic BB/IP ratio this year. He’s without a doubt a Top 10 prospect…
Has Zambrano thrown anything but a fastball yet?
It makes me observant.

Steve from OH
Uh-uh, FloridaBrave. I was a Hoover fan before there were Hoover fans. Get your own favorite pitching prospect!
He’s busted it up my list this year, FloridaBrave.
THWG, that’s a big chunk of change for a guy with only a handful of hits this year. As good as he was last year, can’t say that I wouldn’t have re-signed him in the offseason either, but he’s useless right now.
There are people on this blog that believe Lowe’s contract is unmovable. 15 Mil is not bad for a solid pitcher. We just have better options especially if we keep Hudson. The Cubs could use him if Harden leaves. Cardinals, Brewers. Ect
Uggla’s just one of those players that I’ll never like.
Just keep thinking that
Steve from OH
Mike Minor is very similar to Scott Diamond that’s why I really hope Minor doesn’t sign.
July 7th, 20098:29 pm
If we don’t sign Minor, we also get the #8 pick to make up for it right
Bulls used to be the Braves’ Carolina League farm club (owned by Baseball America founder Miles Wolff
I knew Miles when he was getting started, down in Savannah in the 70s. Did some PA for him and the Braves there. Great job, $10 a game and all the hot dogs and sodas you wanted, LOL.
You can stay in denial if you like…
July 7th, 20098:30 pm
You’re hogging all the prospects, Steve. Take Milligan and be happy.
I love how people call Francoeur “Stenchy” and then stick him in trade proposal. Scouts know Francoeur stinks, too. No one wants him.
I think the Braves would have been better off calling up a guy from AAA at a cheap price than paying Greg almost $1M to kinda just get in the way. Then again, at least we aren’t paying him $3.375M for roughly the same production.
Eh, I dunno. He’s a good pitching prospect. Besides, if we get as many picks next year as we could, having a comp pick for Minor won’t be as valuable. I say this with the caveat of assuming they won’t spend enough dough to get an appreciably better prospect next year anyway.
July 7th, 20098:31 pm
Hope this isn’t the inning already.
July 7th, 20098:32 pm
Ha! I’ve grudgingly allowed Roman Gal to take Riaan Spanjer-Fustenburg, but Milligan and Hoover are mine! Take DiMaster Delgado or something. Efrim’s already got dibs on Randall.
July 7th, 20098:33 pm
Spruill’s perfect game is gone.
I didn’t jinx him this time.
What crap. I’ll have to think about this.
Hope You Enjoy It
Anybody else think Dogbresky is full of Sh*t. Is it really fun to lie about personal accompishments on an AJC Blog? C’mon dude! Next this guy will be telling us he was once the Prince of Persia. Lets here the comeback renaissance man.
At least you’ll have some company
July 7th, 20098:34 pm
Javy 1 strike away from getting out of the inning.
July 7th, 20098:36 pm
Anybody else think Dogbresky is full of Sh*t.
Does anyone care? What you do for a living is neither relevant to the blog nor does it increase your credibility to talk ball (unless, of course, you work in baseball).
July 7th, 20098:37 pm
You can have Olberholtzer and Harrilchak.
Thank You MCLOUTH!
July 7th, 20098:38 pm
Good catch, Lil’ Mac.
Oh man, that’s like getting the $5 Subway card after losing the Showcase on <The Price is Right.
I’ve heard all year how McLouth is better suited as a corner outfielder. Haven’t seen it yet…
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
i hate to ask the same question that another poster just asked but i am also curious….
if minor doesnt sign we get our regular pick and the eighth pick next year?
Damn, McLouth was playing him shallow. But he covered about an acre and ran it down. He can go get it.
July 7th, 20098:39 pm
He looked like a gold glover in Center on that play
Shhh!!! Dang…you ruined it.
Let’s go Javy.
July 7th, 20098:40 pm
I believe so. But if we fail to sign that pick, we will recieve no compensation. I wouldn’t count on Minor not signing though.
July 7th, 20098:41 pm
Javy has over 40 pitches and not even out of the 2nd….
July 7th, 20098:42 pm
Bobby better let Javy do what Wren got him for.
Well, just as I figured, no one here believes you either. However, for some odd reason you amuse me so I wanted to extend you an offer. I have had Braves season tickets behind the place in the “Hank Aaron” section (two seats with a green parking pass) since 1990. When you’re in Atlanta the next time let me know and I’ll let you enjoy a game in perhaps two of the best couple of hundred seats in the house. And, just for your added pleasure, one of those seats my wife has sat in a few times, along with many local celebrities. And, even though she may not match up to your New York Queen, she was in fact a Miss Georgia finalist a few years back–no, she didn’t win, but should have in my selfish opinion–so I want you to experience some sort of reality before our relationship ends one day.
Don’t ask me why, you absolutely crack me up, but even though we may never be friends, or ever agree, my integrity is never for sale or compromised so I’m serious when I make this offer. Just try not to show off your “Johnson” to my friend’s wives who sit nearby, deal? Don’t want to be accused of breaking up any marriages
Come on Javy.
Steve, Thanks for your 8:36. I doubt that many care about another blogger’s IQ, income, net worth, spouse’s size, religious beliefs, blah, blah. Baseball, food, music, movies, toe injuries-that’s the stuff that matters.
BTW, how do you know so much about minor league prospects? Are there websites? Any suggestions. Thanks. Darn Javy!!
July 7th, 20098:43 pm
Careful…Carlos can hit…
He gave up a hit to Koye Hill??? WTF?
This is what good hitters do .They work the count unlike Frenchy.
July 7th, 20098:44 pm
Javy is not going to last 5 today geez
July 7th, 20098:45 pm
Does anybody on here really think the Braves are gonna win tonight?
Dang it, Javy!! We get you a freakin’ run and you give up your lead. You should know by now that that’s all you’re getting.
Yes we will get the #8 pick next season.
Diamond has a high 80s, low 90s FB, a very good change, a decent curve and a cutter. The only thing different from Minor is Minor has a slider. They both have pitchability and good command Diamond has a leg up though since he already has professional experience.
July 7th, 20098:46 pm
I just hope we learn something.
Can someone explain to me why you throw a strike 3-2 with a RISP when the pitcher is on deck. These are the kind of mental problems the Braves have had this year that has led to their inconsistency.
Ya know what? Since all the big-time prospects were taken I’m going to go with an under-the-radar guy no one talks about(and when they do, it’s not positive)
P Jacob Thompson
July 7th, 20098:47 pm
We need to cool it with the soft-tossing lefty thing. Having 1 in your rotation is nice I guess. More than that and you’re probably cooked.
Man, Mike Stanton has really struggled in AA so far this year.
July 7th, 20098:48 pm
“Can someone explain to me why you throw a strike 3-2 with a RISP when the pitcher is on deck. ”
Yes. Micah Owings or Carlos Zambrano are the pitchers.
bocabrave–Baseball America is a wonderful resource for that stuff. It is a bit expensive though, but it is well worth the cost IMO. Keith Law (his weekly ESPN chats are a must-read) and Kevin Goldstein (Baseball Prospectus) also do a great job with the prospects. A good place to go for info on prospects is the “MLB draft tracker” (just google that with the year in question), and you can sort by team, and most of the prospects there have a little blurb of info. I rely mostly on secondhand info and stats though, the only two prospects I’ve seen live were Locke (now a scurvy lad) and C. Johnson in the GCL. Johnson did not disappoint. 1 AB, one absolutely magnficent strikeout.
With Kotchman, KJ, Frenchy, GA, Gonzo, Hudson, and Soriano coming off the books, we should have some money to get a good 1B and OF in the offseason.
July 7th, 20098:49 pm
Not all of the big prospects are taken. I hear Kala Ka’ahuie is available…
No More Bobby 2.
The old fart strikes again. Any other team would have walked Hill and pitched to the pitcher. But no, Donk is above that. Of course probably have the only run we will get tonight.
As for the game…yes the game…you all can have the Chipper Jones’, Garrett Anderson’s, Matt Diaz’s and Jeff Francoeur’s of the world. Me? I’ll take any 8 player combinations of the Nate McClouth’s, Martin Prado’s and even this new kid at second base with some great pitching and kill your butts in the postseason the majority of opportunities. In fact, just give me 8 McClouth’s and I’ll be happy–speed, a little power, bunting, a stolen base, and situational, contact hitting–and I’ll once again attend more Braves games and get excited!
Yes, give me 8 Nate McClouth’s right now!
Just curious, but does anybody here really give a rats ass what a player listens to on Verizon’s VCast music? The Braves some really dumb things that take place during their telecasts.
July 7th, 20098:50 pm
I remember when Micah Owings played for Georgia Tech. He could rake then, too.
3-3 in Philadelphia now.
Someone noticed typo in the blog, regarding that streak against Cubs. Thanks for bringing to my attention: Yes, it’s TWO runs or fewer that the Braves have scored 10 times during their 4-11 skid against the Cubs. Not 10 runs. TWO runs.
yeah we would then have a good lineup but a bullpen that will 25 games for us….
NO MORE BOBBY
July 7th, 20098:51 pm
Braves win. Braves lose. Does it really matter?
Way more important things in life.
Have you seen Diamond live?
I still think I will take my chances with any pitcher over the No. 8 hitter. I was taught never let the No. 8 hitter beat you in the NL.
Jay–thanks for the scouting report. I think Minor’s slider can be plus, myself. The more I think about him, the more I’m warming up to him, but man, I woulda loved to take Matzek.
FloridaBrave–ooh, Thompson was one of my sleeper picks this spring. Doing well in MB. Maybe he’s finally living up to that first-round billing he got a few years back? Good choice.
Prado works the count and gets on base… whats not to like?
Loafs swings and misses are almost as bad as Matty D’s.
*And he’s always swinging and missing on those low, at the knee strikes.
It is killing me to watch GA and JF play with Diaz on the bench,
July 7th, 20098:52 pm
I’ll take his brother Kila. Dude needs a shot somewhere…
Mac might be coming around.
Good hustle Marteeeeeeeeen! Welcome back B-Mac. We’ve missed you.
Nate the GR8
What was that about RSF??
Mac heard my warning…
That was direly needed by the Braves, especially with Chipper out of the lineup. They need to get McCann going again, he’s been slumping lately.
Chop It Up All-Star
When McCann goes the other way, he is clearly the best offensive catcher in the National League.
How ’bout that, McCann knocking in some runs again… nice.
July 7th, 20098:53 pm
Way to go BMac!
damn- think I screwed up those initials…oh well, not like it matters
July 7th, 20098:54 pm
Mac will noy ever slump to long. He is to solid a hitter.
What is up with everyone swinging at their knees and lower?
I bet McFann is somewhere squealing with joy that her mann got an RBI double.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
