I think Wren needs to move Huddy and Lowe (if at all possible) in the off season, and keep Vazquez. He’s still relatively young and has the “stuff” to be an ace. He can mowe down many people at a time. I find it unfathomable that people are clamoring for his trade so we can get a right handed bat. Except for 2 starts, this guy has been lights out all year. Hudson was never this consistent in a Braves uniform.
The “one bad inning” stigma attached to Javy has thus far been an exaggeration.

THWG, that’s a big chunk of change for a guy with only a handful of hits this year. As good as he was last year, can’t say that I wouldn’t have re-signed him in the offseason either, but he’s useless right now.

There are people on this blog that believe Lowe’s contract is unmovable. 15 Mil is not bad for a solid pitcher. We just have better options especially if we keep Hudson. The Cubs could use him if Harden leaves. Cardinals, Brewers. Ect

I knew Miles when he was getting started, down in Savannah in the 70s. Did some PA for him and the Braves there. Great job, $10 a game and all the hot dogs and sodas you wanted, LOL.

I think the Braves would have been better off calling up a guy from AAA at a cheap price than paying Greg almost $1M to kinda just get in the way. Then again, at least we aren’t paying him $3.375M for roughly the same production.

Eh, I dunno. He’s a good pitching prospect. Besides, if we get as many picks next year as we could, having a comp pick for Minor won’t be as valuable. I say this with the caveat of assuming they won’t spend enough dough to get an appreciably better prospect next year anyway.

I have had Braves season tickets behind the place in the “Hank Aaron” section (two seats with a green parking pass) since 1990. When you’re in Atlanta the next time let me know and I’ll let you enjoy a game in perhaps two of the best couple of hundred seats in the house. And, just for your added pleasure, one of those seats my wife has sat in a few times, along with many local celebrities. And, even though she may not match up to your New York Queen, she was in fact a Miss Georgia finalist a few years back–no, she didn’t win, but should have in my selfish opinion–so I want you to experience some sort of reality before our relationship ends one day.

Diamond has a high 80s, low 90s FB, a very good change, a decent curve and a cutter. The only thing different from Minor is Minor has a slider. They both have pitchability and good command Diamond has a leg up though since he already has professional experience.

Can someone explain to me why you throw a strike 3-2 with a RISP when the pitcher is on deck. These are the kind of mental problems the Braves have had this year that has led to their inconsistency.

bocabrave–Baseball America is a wonderful resource for that stuff. It is a bit expensive though, but it is well worth the cost IMO. Keith Law (his weekly ESPN chats are a must-read) and Kevin Goldstein (Baseball Prospectus) also do a great job with the prospects. A good place to go for info on prospects is the “MLB draft tracker” (just google that with the year in question), and you can sort by team, and most of the prospects there have a little blurb of info. I rely mostly on secondhand info and stats though, the only two prospects I’ve seen live were Locke (now a scurvy lad) and C. Johnson in the GCL. Johnson did not disappoint. 1 AB, one absolutely magnficent strikeout.

As for the game…yes the game…you all can have the Chipper Jones’, Garrett Anderson’s, Matt Diaz’s and Jeff Francoeur’s of the world. Me? I’ll take any 8 player combinations of the Nate McClouth’s, Martin Prado’s and even this new kid at second base with some great pitching and kill your butts in the postseason the majority of opportunities. In fact, just give me 8 McClouth’s and I’ll be happy–speed, a little power, bunting, a stolen base, and situational, contact hitting–and I’ll once again attend more Braves games and get excited!

Jay–thanks for the scouting report. I think Minor’s slider can be plus, myself. The more I think about him, the more I’m warming up to him, but man, I woulda loved to take Matzek.
