Hey, the Bulls used to be the Braves’ Carolina League farm club (owned by Baseball America founder Miles Wolff) until McGuirk/Schuerholz decided they wanted to own all the minor-league affiliates. I saw David Justice, Ronnie Gant, Gerald Perry, Brett Butler, and many other future Braves in “historic” Durham Athletic Park.
How the Rays wound up with the Bulls is anyone’s guess.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports says Javier Vazquez has more value than any available hitter. Here are the details and the rest of Rosenthal’s rumors:
* Not even Matt Holliday or Corey Hart would be fair value for Vazquez, so Rosenthal asks why the Braves would want to trade him at all.

With the news that Toronto will listen to trade offers for “Doc” I don’t think this diminishes Javy’s trade value. Any thoughts on that?

Maybe. But the fact that Vazquez’s contract is more affordable and he hasn’t been on the DL this year probably mean Halladay doesn’t really diminish Vazquez’s trade value. I predict neither of them will be moved.

Did Rosenthal write that before the news on Halladay came out? I agree on Vazquez, though. He is controlled through next year and is having his best year since he left Montreal. You better get a big package for him. Or get a established, controllable hitter.

I’m not gonna argue that Frenchy deserved to be benched , my point is the hatred of a guy wearing the uniform of your favorite team to the extreme that it has been on this blog is uncalled for. I’ll pull for Matty, Loaf, Frenchy whoever they throw out there just like I did when it was the scrubinies that filled out the lineup card in the 70’s and 80’s. thanks for the tip on Harper’s Island. I watched the first ten episodes in the last few days, liked it a lot. IMDB says that the last two episodes will air on the same day July 11, is that right? Have enjoyed it so far, but sad that the sheriff bit the dust. Jim Beaver is on Supernatural, I like him. My real question is what in the world are they gonna do for a second season???

Glad you liked it! I think it’s brilliant. The last 2 episodes will air as a 2 hour finale…and I don’t believe they ever planned a 2nd season- it was billed as a “mini-series event.” Too bad.

the only way Vazquez gets moved during this season is if the Dodgers put together a package with Ethier or Kemp or if the Brewers agree to move Elcides Escobar or Matt Gamel in a package for Vazquez.
The only way I see Yunel being moved is if Boston offered us Jed Lowrie and Clay Buchholz or if the Braves got Elcides Escobar from the Brewers (and got a big package from KC or Boston)
Braves have the rare opportunity to be selective sellers. They do not have to sell so there will be no firesale. They do have 2 trade pieces that could command a high return and it never hurts to listen to offers

Greg Norton’s DL stint is up, so they recalled him. But didn’t activate him. He’s going to Colorado “to work out with us,” Cox said, then they’ll decide what to do with him.
Hmmm. I don’t know. They seem to be leaning toward keeping Blanco on the roster, but we’ll see.

Rob–I’ve never been a big fan of Diamond’s, but he keeps proving himself at every level. His peripherals are good, FIP is good…he’s not a “stuff” pitcher, relies more on deception/command/pitchability, but his results have been impressive. Don’t see him as a reliver b/c I don’t think he can throw over 90 MPH, but we’ll see.
