Ya think Houston fans were bitching about Biggio (or even say Bagwell?) still being on the team up til he retired? I would put Chipper is the same class….except for the fact that Biggio didn’t have as much of an injury bug as Chipper seems to have and has had over the last few years.
I’m so damn sick of the *Let’s get rid of Chipper* type comments.
And I know, I know…Murph, Knucksie(sp), Nique (Hawks) among others were let go toward the end of their careers……and it happens…but I for one, think Chip deserves to be here until his contract runs out and be a Brave for life.
Not many of his caliber will we ever see again…that has played for one team his entire career..and growing up a Royals fan and George Brett was my boy….I would consider Chip a *George Brett*-type. George played all out like Chipper does.
The blogger known as “Paul Lentz” must be a marketing genius because he has the whole blog talking about him, especially on a day when Ryan Dempster broke his toe celebrating and Chipper tweaked his groin swinging.
I have no problem with giving Chipper a rest today. He has not hit historically well at Wrigley Field plus he could use the rest. I’d rather have him rested for the 4 games at Coors Field, where he has hit much better over the course of his career.
My only problem is with Francoeur playing. Diaz needs to be in there. Do any of you think that Francoeur will get a hit tonight against Zambrano?
Some very interesting stats that many will find surprising. There are 11 braves that have received over 100 at bats this year. This is how they rank in OPS against righties. As I said some of these numbers are kind of shocking.
Matt Diaz has had 77 ABs against RH and 74 against LH. He is fourth on the team in OPS against RH pitching. He also has the highest OPS against RHs in the entire outfield over LH hitters McLouth and Anderson.
If you want one determining reason why the Braves are 5 games back in a week division coming into the All Star break this is it. Bobby has given Kelly and Jeff a total of 469 ABs against RHs with a combined OPS 555. Jeff has been given 203 at bats against RHs with his 575 OPS.
Now tell me leadership and decision making is not the biggest problem with this team. How can anyone defend that.
Serious, rates are going to stay low??? I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to take advantage of the coming inflation that people say is inevitable. Between you and uga-brave (on the graveyard shift, LOL), I learn a lot about $$$ – interesting!
Hi, I’m coach smith. I don’t seem to grasp the concept of capitalization. Though no portion of my name (a proper noun) is capitalized, I frequently write posts with entire words capitalized. Seemingly for emphasis, but who knows, really? Punctuation is also something I struggle with. I go by the rule “one is never enough” and my punctuation marks always come in multiples of 6. Rather than using a period and two spaces, I prefer to hit the “return” key and create a new line of text. leaner – just look at that 18 year basket case known as Japan, I lived there during thr bubble and the bursting thereof…….. interest rates have been low since 1994
now USA is a little bit different because Japan was built on savings and production whereas we are built on consumption and DEBT…….. I still hope we can turn it around, but I don’t like the loom of what NY state, NJ, CA etc are trying to do….

Actually, I think Kotchman has more competition right now than Mac. But Mac better get his act together SOON or I’m…well…I’m going to just keep on talking about Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg.
I really didn’t trade up or switch allegiances. I still sorta-follow my home state Royals. I just don’t have the interest in them as much as I did when I was growing up and when Brett was still playing….,..and it has nothing to do with the losing they’ve been accustomed to the last few years. That franchise started going down hill when Ewing Kauffman died and Wal-Mart big boy..David Glass took over.
dogsbrekky,
Yes the DEBT part seems like the killer blow from what I read. When the rest of the world doesn’t want to keep buying 100 billion of new debt per month (I think that number is right?), then what ?!?
Just Pat – I was just lucky to meet a Dr Mangiardi and his team at the right time and have the luck as it were to get onto a good program… I just think god had me saved so he could torture me with the 2006-2009 Braves (my c was diagnosed in late 2004)
Frank from KS (now living in CO)…I didn’t say anything about getting rid of Chipper…just stated that with his recent injury history and the fact that he can’t be counted on in big situations because of said history…well, that I think the Braves gave him too much money. I don’t mind having Chipper on the team…just not at the price and years.
My only problem is with Francoeur playing. Diaz needs to be in there. Do any of you think that Francoeur will get a hit tonight against Zambrano?
No I dont think Francouer will get a hit against Zambrano tonight. I am hoping Francouer gets hit against Zambrano. Nothing serious just hopefully the same wrist that is bothering Kelly if you know what I mean.
Your really stooping to the lowest of lows, are you not? Listen, agent, those who have it, know it, and never feel the need to prove it; those that don’t, like you, are always the inadequate frauds challenging others to prove it! I have it, you envy it (both, it seems), and thus your and angry beggar! I have more respect for the panhandler holing out the Styrofoam cup as I walk to Turner Field.
Let’s be clear, you’ll fall way short on both accounts: first, your ability to attract even the weakest of traders; second, the ability to attract the most desperate of the opposite sex with your embarrassing shortfalls in ability and anatomy.
Or, fret not, perhaps you and your buddy “Schafer Obliterator” can hook up and fight over me and I’ll take on the winner!

Frank (KS) – I always liked KS too and only followed the Braves as a young kid cause I watched a film in Australia about Babe Ruth and the last team he played for were the Braves (I was too young and stupid to differentiate between cities in USA)… I also liked Hank, Hubbie and later on Murphy, Glavine, Justice and Maddux..

YO Frank from KS (now living in CO) — first let’s get it correct, I never said that Dye was the only one they were looking at. Just that he was on a short list of possibles. I did say — and you can go back and look it up — that if the Braves were within 2 games at the end of the homestand they would look to pull the trigger on a deal. Well they swept the Phillies and they were 2 games out. Now do you really think that Frenchy sitting out was a just a benching?? or was it to make sure their trade bait didn’t get hurt at the last minute?? I firmly stand by what I said, they will most likely add a bat , but it has to be the right deal. They wont make another “raid the farm” deal and they wont trade a starting pitcher for a big bat unless there is some type of payroll consideration involved. I agree with Ken Rosenthal that there is not a hitter out there right now that is worthy of trading Vasquez for.
Unfortunately they slid back to 5 games out just as quick as they got to 2 games out. I haven’t spoken with my friend since last week so I am just going on my previous gut feelings.
THAT’s why you guys keep losing, you don’t PRAY enough! Better watch your ass, or I’ll smite you with something. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go & tell this hick to sacrifice his son to prove his loyalty to me.
-See ya at the Judgement!
I will put up $100k to go to say Dale Murphy’s charity (or othr designated group) and you can do the same.
All we have to do is get an independent group verify what we have said…
I challenge you man. You or I have a higher net worth for say 50%…
A bigger willy for say 25% and more love on this site for say 25%
We can get E+Y to audit this, I can even pay as I already pay their lame asses and have it sent to the ajc.com for verification..
God we could even sponsor a page in the AJC to promote the “Dogsbreath vs Larry the Hero” event and make a game of it..
whaddya say big guy, seriously $100k, must be chump change to a world famous doctor like yourself… we could even add a whose missus is prettier (at weight for age) clause if you like to give you a fighting chance………… because my missus is a very nice NY lady…
go on be a devil… put that scalpel in, have a crack…
I can tell you that it was when Riaan was hitting .600 after 6 games. I don’t remember what the date was. I suppose it wouldn’t be too difficult to look up, though…
Do any of you think that Francoeur will get a hit tonight against Zambrano?
Are you kidding me? Of course he will. He will get a couple hits tonight, maybe even a game winning hit or something dramatic like that, and secure his guaranteed starting spot again in which he will go 0′fer for the remainder of the month.
So this Larry guy is a surgeon, huh? My ex husband was a surgeon. What’s your specialty?
WTF? Wren couldn’t get Berkman thrown in as well? I’m shocked the Astros didn’t just sell us the “rights” to retire Bagwell and Biggio’s numbers while they were at it.
Now that the word is out that Chipper is “hurt” can we get a pool going on how long it will be until Anders shows up? The timing is right, the Mets crawled back ahead of us in the standings and Chipper is on the bench with an ailment.
You’re a real hoot, but “bonafide” you are not so spare us all with the challenge threats.
SERIOUSLY, there’s not a doubt in my mind you’re an absolute fraud, and Insurance Agent, and some fat, balding guy who can’t get a decent looking woman to look below your beltline. I’ve go your number, you know it, and anyone that has more than a double digit IQ here knows it, so cease with your manufactured port folio and go try to sell a policy to some poor soul tonight. As you know, the best time to knock on doors is after about 7:00 PM when you can catch both spouses at home at the same time to work your magic! This is why I won’t take your challenge, goober, so you won’t privately beg for my forgiveness and then try to sell me a policy!
Truth be known, I paid more on federal taxes this year than you’ve earned in the past dozen or more!
I’m dying to know, however, for my own amusement. Who else on here honestly believes–100% believes–that old dogsbreath sold a bank in Australia at in his late 30’s, is worth what he insinuates is millions, has an incredible beautiful wife in the Big Apple, and is blessed with a certain male anatomical digit so lengthy he receives admiring glances from even mares in pastures?
I just have to know who really believes this clown.
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson

i know lentz was obviously joking but i have heard a lot of people on this board say that we should make a move for him if the astros fall out of it….
i wouldnt. what is he making this year? 16.5? 17 million? not sure exactly, but its a giant number. he is getting old fast and on pace for about 25 homers and a little less than 100 rbi. if those numbers hold true then his hrs would have decreased in each of the past three seasons.
dont get me wrong, i think he is a solid player but is overpaid….by a lot.
I predict that true love will show it’s face when Larry and dogsbrekky measure each other’s willies – and we’ll ourselves our first official DOB-blog couple
glad football season is just around the corner. Like last year, it doesnt look like the Braves are gonna give us much reason to watch baseball in August. The Falcons are liekly to score more TD’s per game than the Braves average runs. Sad.
True Roman Gal. Loyalty from a city and ownership is something the Braves have lost. Owners based in Denver? Local owned Superstation would rather appear to the national audience. Can we beg Mr. Turner to come back?
Yes, may be Escober has “attitude” problems or he is stubborn, but if the Braves could have at least two more like him they would be for sure in the first place!!!
Check the Glord statistics.

Larry – Let’s make this for real SERIOUSLY

What’s your specialty?

dogsbreath,
You’re a real hoot, but “bonafide” you are not so spare us all with the challenge threats.
I just have to know who really believes this clown.

i know lentz was obviously joking but i have heard a lot of people on this board say that we should make a move for him if the astros fall out of it….
i wouldnt. what is he making this year? 16.5? 17 million? not sure exactly, but its a giant number. he is getting old fast and on pace for about 25 homers and a little less than 100 rbi. if those numbers hold true then his hrs would have decreased in each of the past three seasons.
dont get me wrong, i think he is a solid player but is overpaid….by a lot.
