Ya think Houston fans were bitching about Biggio (or even say Bagwell?) still being on the team up til he retired? I would put Chipper is the same class….except for the fact that Biggio didn’t have as much of an injury bug as Chipper seems to have and has had over the last few years.
I’m so damn sick of the *Let’s get rid of Chipper* type comments.
And I know, I know…Murph, Knucksie(sp), Nique (Hawks) among others were let go toward the end of their careers……and it happens…but I for one, think Chip deserves to be here until his contract runs out and be a Brave for life.
Not many of his caliber will we ever see again…that has played for one team his entire career..and growing up a Royals fan and George Brett was my boy….I would consider Chip a *George Brett*-type. George played all out like Chipper does.
I think Mac’s slump started when you brought RSF up! This is YOUR fault!
Alabama – sometimes you have got to call a tiger snake a harmless water python
Larry is a hateful drongo and needs to be called out
Let us do this Larry, you post your bonafides and I can post mine, whaddya say pissant
Hey, it’s good to have you back. Somebody’s got to keep Coach in his place!

Who hates the Most Interesting Man commercials???
He once had an awkward moment, just to see how it felt!
Rick Matula Lives
The blogger known as “Paul Lentz” must be a marketing genius because he has the whole blog talking about him, especially on a day when Ryan Dempster broke his toe celebrating and Chipper tweaked his groin swinging.
Paul, you da man!
Mac just can’t handle the competition. You remember when Salty was here, right?
I have no problem with giving Chipper a rest today. He has not hit historically well at Wrigley Field plus he could use the rest. I’d rather have him rested for the 4 games at Coors Field, where he has hit much better over the course of his career.
My only problem is with Francoeur playing. Diaz needs to be in there. Do any of you think that Francoeur will get a hit tonight against Zambrano?
July 7th, 20096:46 pm
I see the ole blog is gettin a bit x rated.

“Let us do this Larry, you post your bonafides and I can post mine, whaddya say pissant”
What would you be accepting as “bona-fides”?
Some very interesting stats that many will find surprising. There are 11 braves that have received over 100 at bats this year. This is how they rank in OPS against righties. As I said some of these numbers are kind of shocking.
1. McCann 987
2. Escobar 873
3. Jones 817
4. Diaz 787
5. McLouth 784
6. Kotchman 757
7. Anderson 701
8. Prado 690
9. Shaefer 591
10 Francouer 575
11. Johnson 530
Matt Diaz has had 77 ABs against RH and 74 against LH. He is fourth on the team in OPS against RH pitching. He also has the highest OPS against RHs in the entire outfield over LH hitters McLouth and Anderson.
If you want one determining reason why the Braves are 5 games back in a week division coming into the All Star break this is it. Bobby has given Kelly and Jeff a total of 469 ABs against RHs with a combined OPS 555. Jeff has been given 203 at bats against RHs with his 575 OPS.
Now tell me leadership and decision making is not the biggest problem with this team. How can anyone defend that.
Looks like we finally discovered Paul Lentz’s weakness…his true identity.
Bring up his identity and he gets really uncomfortable.
July 7th, 20096:48 pm
Serious, rates are going to stay low??? I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to take advantage of the coming inflation that people say is inevitable. Between you and uga-brave (on the graveyard shift, LOL), I learn a lot about $$$ – interesting!
Frank (KS) – It is a SIN to switch allegiances to teams at any age of life
I am Braves, good/bad, sexy/not, Larry or no Larry, Chipper or no Chipper win or lose
but at least you “traded up” as it were
A coach smith imposter
Hi, I’m coach smith. I don’t seem to grasp the concept of capitalization. Though no portion of my name (a proper noun) is capitalized, I frequently write posts with entire words capitalized. Seemingly for emphasis, but who knows, really? Punctuation is also something I struggle with. I go by the rule “one is never enough” and my punctuation marks always come in multiples of 6. Rather than using a period and two spaces, I prefer to hit the “return” key and create a new line of text. May not be as visually appealing as forming sentences within the confines of the grammatical and mechanical rules of the English language, but it’s easier for me! (!!!!!) I hope your eyes (and brain) don’t bleed from reading my posts! (!!!!!)
When Mac has competition we’ll talk…
July 7th, 20096:49 pm
AlabamaBrave: funny you mentioned that, because Piniella also said as much. Called it a Cubbie injury.
Turn on the game ,watch 1 or 2 innings and turn it off . . . it’s usually over by then if the opposition gets 2 runs!
Bobby’s – public websites, auditors, HOSPITAL RECORDS, tax returns, phallic measurements

Phallic measurements? I measured q0 once, but then my girlfriend pointed out I had the ruler backwards
July 7th, 20096:52 pm
glord……………your excellent posting at 6:37pm is going to wreck havoc on those on here suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder.
leaner – just look at that 18 year basket case known as Japan, I lived there during thr bubble and the bursting thereof…….. interest rates have been low since 1994
now USA is a little bit different because Japan was built on savings and production whereas we are built on consumption and DEBT…….. I still hope we can turn it around, but I don’t like the loom of what NY state, NJ, CA etc are trying to do….
July 7th, 20096:53 pm
Dogsbrekky…..just read your early post about death and dying. Are you sure that “House” wasn’t consulted???? Don’t mean to be light about this….have faced two chemos myself and am just glad everything worked for you as it did for me.
July 7th, 20096:54 pm
Actually, I think Kotchman has more competition right now than Mac. But Mac better get his act together SOON or I’m…well…I’m going to just keep on talking about Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg.
I really didn’t trade up or switch allegiances. I still sorta-follow my home state Royals. I just don’t have the interest in them as much as I did when I was growing up and when Brett was still playing….,..and it has nothing to do with the losing they’ve been accustomed to the last few years. That franchise started going down hill when Ewing Kauffman died and Wal-Mart big boy..David Glass took over.

do us all a favor and disappear from the earth! You see, I live a debt free lifestyle–yes
Cool, dude! With your high IQ and debt-free lifestyle, I’m betting you got beat up a lot in high school. Am I wrong?
Numbletard. Or even worse, I’ll call you a doo-doo head. Take that.
Paul Lentz cashed in a poker tournament? Props. Don’t have the cash to play in those, but I like to play occasionally.
Sorry for my last post to Mr. Lentz everyone.
Yes the DEBT part seems like the killer blow from what I read. When the rest of the world doesn’t want to keep buying 100 billion of new debt per month (I think that number is right?), then what ?!?
July 7th, 20096:59 pm
Just Pat – I was just lucky to meet a Dr Mangiardi and his team at the right time and have the luck as it were to get onto a good program… I just think god had me saved so he could torture me with the 2006-2009 Braves (my c was diagnosed in late 2004)
Frank from KS (now living in CO)…I didn’t say anything about getting rid of Chipper…just stated that with his recent injury history and the fact that he can’t be counted on in big situations because of said history…well, that I think the Braves gave him too much money. I don’t mind having Chipper on the team…just not at the price and years.
Bobby’s Cox—now that is too funny.
July 7th, 20097:00 pm
My only problem is with Francoeur playing. Diaz needs to be in there. Do any of you think that Francoeur will get a hit tonight against Zambrano?
No I dont think Francouer will get a hit against Zambrano tonight. I am hoping Francouer gets hit against Zambrano. Nothing serious just hopefully the same wrist that is bothering Kelly if you know what I mean.
Your really stooping to the lowest of lows, are you not? Listen, agent, those who have it, know it, and never feel the need to prove it; those that don’t, like you, are always the inadequate frauds challenging others to prove it! I have it, you envy it (both, it seems), and thus your and angry beggar! I have more respect for the panhandler holing out the Styrofoam cup as I walk to Turner Field.
Let’s be clear, you’ll fall way short on both accounts: first, your ability to attract even the weakest of traders; second, the ability to attract the most desperate of the opposite sex with your embarrassing shortfalls in ability and anatomy.
Or, fret not, perhaps you and your buddy “Schafer Obliterator” can hook up and fight over me and I’ll take on the winner!
What a bunch of light weights!
July 7th, 20097:01 pm
Numbletard. Or even worse, I’ll call you a doo-doo head. Take that. Steve from OH
Ouch! That’s harsh…somebody must’ve really ticked you off.
getting REAL TIRED of JOHN KINKCAID’s PHILLY fan slanted view of the Braves’ situation
it is very transparent but when he is called out on it, he denies it to the end and turns it around as the Braves fans being delusional
but it is sooooo obvious he is enjoying the Braves being behind hte Phillies ad he is taking his shots
July 7th, 20097:02 pm
cabravesfan No. It is funny- really, really stupid, but funny
Roman Gal It looks like I need to start talking about Riann Spanjer-Furstenburg again to help McCann break out of his slump, eh?
Huh…I don’t know…
cab I think Mac’s slump started when you brought RSF up! This is YOUR fault!
Hmm…anybody know the day that whatshisname’s name first came out of RG’s keyboard…?
RG But Mac better get his act together SOON or I’m…well…I’m going to just keep on talking about Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg.
I don’t even wanna know what I’ll do if he doesn’t get his act together soon…I already hung my jersey in my closet…
The_Superhoo He once had an awkward moment, just to see how it felt!
The Most Int’resting Man in the World went to a Braves game??
July 7th, 20097:03 pm
Francoeur career stats vs. Zambrano:
4 for 14 (.286) with 2 HR and 1 2B. 1 BB, 7 K’s. .287/.333/.786
I think this is more of a blind squirrel, meet nut thing than anything else. Plus he probably compiled the positives before he ruined his athletic abilities with that weight training program.
Frank (KS) – I always liked KS too and only followed the Braves as a young kid cause I watched a film in Australia about Babe Ruth and the last team he played for were the Braves (I was too young and stupid to differentiate between cities in USA)… I also liked Hank, Hubbie and later on Murphy, Glavine, Justice and Maddux..
besides, my old man told me once I could walk home (I liked the other team) if I changed footy teams or threw something/someone away because suddenly there was someone better….
so the Braves it is, good, bad or otherwise
July 7th, 20097:04 pm
Francine in the lineup………………..Imagine that. This is a joke. The guy is just plain awful. I also can’t believe Chipper is hurt. Imagine that. I’m sure he will “get well” and heat up when we are about 10 games out. I’ve been a Braves an my entire life, but this is getting a little hard to take.
A coach smith imposter
why can’t we all be as clever and whitty as you?????
you are sooooo perfect I’m sure
If we could all be like you the world would be perfect huh?
absolutley GUTLESS to not even use your name….did you get that Mr. Perfect????? GUTLESS
July 7th, 20097:05 pm
Breaking news on ESPN!!!!!!!!!!! The Braves just acquired Carlos Lee and Hunter Pence from the Astros for Jo Jo Reyes, Jeff Francoeur, Kelly Johnson, Jeff Bennett, Garrett Anderson, and James Parr. Plus the Astros agreed to eat a significant part of Lee’s contract.
PWH I think this is more of a blind squirrel, meet nut thing than anything else.
I could be really mean with that and certain aspects of that 11-1 win over the Fillies…but I won’t…
July 7th, 20097:07 pm
And, just so I would never be mistaken for someone with any semblance of intelligence, I think Frenchy is going yard tonight.
You mean, al the talent from the Astros for all the wastes from the braves? Yeah right
July 7th, 20097:08 pm
DOB – Have you ever listened to Diane Birch or Leslie Mendelson? Norah Jones-esque writing, very talented. Great vocals for both ladies.
July 7th, 20097:09 pm
Kelly and JoJo playing for Gwinnett!!!
JasonInFL And, just so I would never be mistaken for someone with any semblance of intelligence, I think Frenchy is going yard tonight.
Ha! I think McCann will get another hit with runners on first and second at some point during the course of the rest of the season. So there!
But, I guess that is online w/ a lot of the trade proposals we see on here…
YO Frank from KS (now living in CO) — first let’s get it correct, I never said that Dye was the only one they were looking at. Just that he was on a short list of possibles. I did say — and you can go back and look it up — that if the Braves were within 2 games at the end of the homestand they would look to pull the trigger on a deal. Well they swept the Phillies and they were 2 games out. Now do you really think that Frenchy sitting out was a just a benching?? or was it to make sure their trade bait didn’t get hurt at the last minute?? I firmly stand by what I said, they will most likely add a bat , but it has to be the right deal. They wont make another “raid the farm” deal and they wont trade a starting pitcher for a big bat unless there is some type of payroll consideration involved. I agree with Ken Rosenthal that there is not a hitter out there right now that is worthy of trading Vasquez for.
Unfortunately they slid back to 5 games out just as quick as they got to 2 games out. I haven’t spoken with my friend since last week so I am just going on my previous gut feelings.
July 7th, 20097:10 pm
THAT’s why you guys keep losing, you don’t PRAY enough! Better watch your ass, or I’ll smite you with something. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go & tell this hick to sacrifice his son to prove his loyalty to me.
-See ya at the Judgement!
Jason, Frenchy 4 for 4; 2HRS; 7RBIs. Beer is good.
July 7th, 20097:11 pm
Really? What about tomorrow night?
See, I knoew Johnson was gonna rehab here, but I had no dates…know my sister would like to know…
Il Cattivo @ 6:03
I like it.
Yes, RHR, it makes a lot of difference, and having lived a while longer than Jeff’s 25 years, you know it, too.
Define “a while” … and what’s this about anyway?
July 7th, 20097:12 pm
Larry – Let’s make this for real SERIOUSLY
I will put up $100k to go to say Dale Murphy’s charity (or othr designated group) and you can do the same.
All we have to do is get an independent group verify what we have said…
I challenge you man. You or I have a higher net worth for say 50%…
A bigger willy for say 25% and more love on this site for say 25%
We can get E+Y to audit this, I can even pay as I already pay their lame asses and have it sent to the ajc.com for verification..
God we could even sponsor a page in the AJC to promote the “Dogsbreath vs Larry the Hero” event and make a game of it..
whaddya say big guy, seriously $100k, must be chump change to a world famous doctor like yourself… we could even add a whose missus is prettier (at weight for age) clause if you like to give you a fighting chance………… because my missus is a very nice NY lady…
go on be a devil… put that scalpel in, have a crack…
Holy crud… “knoew”?
July 7th, 20097:13 pm
Oh wait…Gwinnett is on the road.
OK, scratch that theory…
July 7th, 20097:14 pm
This is what happens when you center your whole offense around a mediocre injury prone has been superstar. …THIS IS A HALF TEAM!!
July 7th, 20097:15 pm
I can tell you that it was when Riaan was hitting .600 after 6 games. I don’t remember what the date was. I suppose it wouldn’t be too difficult to look up, though…
Sorry I forgot……..yeah, ya did say that Dye was one of a list of others……….but yeah….slipping back to 5 games out doesn’t help the situation, IMO.
McFann, you keep making these mistakes and we may think you are not perfect.
July 7th, 20097:16 pm
Sorry for confusion. That was referencing your 4:57 response to me. Not enough “context” in my reply
July 7th, 20097:17 pm
CB – McFann like McCann is perfect, well, the latter sometimes, the former like always
July 7th, 20097:18 pm
Do any of you think that Francoeur will get a hit tonight against Zambrano?
Are you kidding me? Of course he will. He will get a couple hits tonight, maybe even a game winning hit or something dramatic like that, and secure his guaranteed starting spot again in which he will go 0′fer for the remainder of the month.
So this Larry guy is a surgeon, huh? My ex husband was a surgeon. What’s your specialty?
July 7th, 20097:19 pm
Not sure why, but I’m still laughing at that post. Nice.
Larry – gotta walk the dog, but if you want to take this Aussie lad up on the $100k challenge, you can email me at email@example.com
Well alrighty then
Lets go ATL, have a good night all
lerner – Oh okay. So um…do I come across as an old lady to you or something?
July 7th, 20097:20 pm
WTF? Wren couldn’t get Berkman thrown in as well? I’m shocked the Astros didn’t just sell us the “rights” to retire Bagwell and Biggio’s numbers while they were at it.
Rob from SC (Please don't trade Escobar)
July 7th, 20097:22 pm
I will give Jo Jo one more chance. Then he is on his own
July 7th, 20097:23 pm
No not at all. Lots of blogs over lots of days, but for some reason from the past I got the impression you were late 30’s.
Roman Gal I suppose it wouldn’t be too difficult to look up, though…
I’m on it.
July 7th, 20097:24 pm
Now that the word is out that Chipper is “hurt” can we get a pool going on how long it will be until Anders shows up? The timing is right, the Mets crawled back ahead of us in the standings and Chipper is on the bench with an ailment.
Nova Scotia Steve
July 7th, 20097:25 pm
OMG Do you guys realize Jeff Francouer is in the line-up tonight???????
July 7th, 20097:27 pm
Thats right, learner. Getting later by the minute.
July 7th, 20097:28 pm
Ok, I found my original comment from June 28 @ 6:45pm…
Yes, it’s 6 games in rookie ball. Steve from OH
That’s more than enough time for me to dub Riaan Spanjer-Furstenburg our catcher of the future. He’d obviously be better than that scrub we got now…
July 7th, 20097:29 pm
Heh. Andy Sonnanstine is starting for Durham against Gwinnett.
July 7th, 20097:30 pm
Can we stop with the “ballgame” crap, people? For the love of God…
Anybody else having probs with Gwinnett’s Gameday?
Hmm…his slump started a couple days before that…like, after he crashed into the wall, to be precise.
He’d obviously be better than that scrub we got now…
You’re a real hoot, but “bonafide” you are not so spare us all with the challenge threats.
SERIOUSLY, there’s not a doubt in my mind you’re an absolute fraud, and Insurance Agent, and some fat, balding guy who can’t get a decent looking woman to look below your beltline. I’ve go your number, you know it, and anyone that has more than a double digit IQ here knows it, so cease with your manufactured port folio and go try to sell a policy to some poor soul tonight. As you know, the best time to knock on doors is after about 7:00 PM when you can catch both spouses at home at the same time to work your magic! This is why I won’t take your challenge, goober, so you won’t privately beg for my forgiveness and then try to sell me a policy!
Truth be known, I paid more on federal taxes this year than you’ve earned in the past dozen or more!
I’m dying to know, however, for my own amusement. Who else on here honestly believes–100% believes–that old dogsbreath sold a bank in Australia at in his late 30’s, is worth what he insinuates is millions, has an incredible beautiful wife in the Big Apple, and is blessed with a certain male anatomical digit so lengthy he receives admiring glances from even mares in pastures?
I just have to know who really believes this clown.
July 7th, 20097:32 pm
Steve from OH
yeah I don’t use it much…but for a stretch there I did get a pretty good laugh outta seeing after the opposing team would score a single run…
the hopes of the braves nation rest in your hands mr. hanson
July 7th, 20097:33 pm
i know lentz was obviously joking but i have heard a lot of people on this board say that we should make a move for him if the astros fall out of it….
i wouldnt. what is he making this year? 16.5? 17 million? not sure exactly, but its a giant number. he is getting old fast and on pace for about 25 homers and a little less than 100 rbi. if those numbers hold true then his hrs would have decreased in each of the past three seasons.
dont get me wrong, i think he is a solid player but is overpaid….by a lot.
July 7th, 20097:34 pm
I just realized I’ll get to watch the Braves game because it’s on WGN. At least ONE national tv station still airs their team…
I predict that true love will show it’s face when Larry and dogsbrekky measure each other’s willies – and we’ll ourselves our first official DOB-blog couple
How cute is KM? <3 I just watched that.
July 7th, 20097:35 pm
glad football season is just around the corner. Like last year, it doesnt look like the Braves are gonna give us much reason to watch baseball in August. The Falcons are liekly to score more TD’s per game than the Braves average runs. Sad.
How, again, did the Rays get the Durham Bulls?
Shouldn’t they belong to the Cleveland Indians, connecting the two of the three greatest baseball movies of all time?
July 7th, 20097:36 pm
For what it’s worth I bet the two of y’all together couldnt afford a cheeseburger if they stopped sending the food stamps
July 7th, 20097:37 pm
1-0 Phillies Bottom 2
True Roman Gal. Loyalty from a city and ownership is something the Braves have lost. Owners based in Denver? Local owned Superstation would rather appear to the national audience. Can we beg Mr. Turner to come back?
July 7th, 20097:38 pm
My man Zeke Spruill is pitching for the Romans tonight.
I don’t wanna jinx it like I did for Delgado last night, so I’ll refrain from saying anything.
July 7th, 20097:39 pm
“Can we beg Mr. Turner to come back?”
YES! Ted fired Cox once. Let’s do ahead and get ole TT back in the fold
July 7th, 2009
How, again, did the Rays get the Durham Bulls?
Field of Dreams and For The Love of the Game the other ones beside Bull Durham?
Yes, may be Escober has “attitude” problems or he is stubborn, but if the Braves could have at least two more like him they would be for sure in the first place!!!
Check the Glord statistics.
July 7th, 20097:40 pm
What is wrong with Chipper now
Does anyone at LSU actually study anything considered academic or maybe even artistic?
I would rather see the Braves give someone else a chance as the hitting coach before making any other coaching/managerial changes.
July 7th, 20097:41 pm
Make that 2-0 Phillies
You can add Osman Marval to the list of oddly-named Braves rookie ballers…there’s Turks in baseball now?
July 7th, 20097:42 pm
I like baseball.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
