Dude, hope you know more about surgery than baseball
I’m guessing that’s a negatory, Colonel.

spectatorIt is amazing how the baseball “know nothings” on this blog have decided that the Braves big problem is Francoeur. Are you aware that he and your hero McCann have the same number of RBI? Why not trade McCann?
its funny that you would insinuate that other might not know much about the game of baseball when your post shows that you clearly dont.
first of all, brian mccann has 64 fewer at bats than jeff because of being DLed for a bit and getting plenty of days off because he is a catcher. you think that might contribute to RBI totals? plus, RBI totals can be skewed if there are always people on base for you. well, jeff bats lower than brian, so maybe jeff has so many RBI because brian is busy getting on base for him? runners not being on base when he gets hits is not his fault, its the fault of the guys not getting on base.
The Braves need a transfusion…
Need to get to Zambrano early, get in his head…..he’ll fall apart. Happens every time.
Chipper hasn’t looked “good” for days now. Pretty obvious he’s been playing hurt.
I’ve been a Braves fan since the 70’s. What happened to the days that you supported the players when they were down. I remember rooting for those crappy teams with crappy players. We didn’t have cable so I had to pick up the scores from the morning paper…. back then if someone made fun of one of the Braves you always defended them. It didn’t matter if they were scrubs like Andres Thomas,Bruce Bennedict, Ken Oberkfell, Glenn Hubbard, Mcmurtry, Camp , Mahler, Terry Harper, Claudell W.. Pocoroba, etc, etc. It was your team and no matter how much the guy sucked you rooted for him and hung with him. You guys need to give this Frenchy thing a rest. He is a Brave so support him. If we ship him out then boo the hell out of him but until then shut up and see if he can turn it around!!
July 7th, 20095:10 pm
Bobby needs a Francoeur intervention.
Maybe now that the Blog about McCann being one of the greatest catchers ever is no longer in the “Recent Posts” column, we can expect a breakout…?
Coach (Moon Pie, Anyone?)
Interesting. My one comment keeps getting blocked?

“money and honeys”
That’s classic! What are you, in a heavy-metal band or something?
Dale Murphy's Law
Mark Bowman is a shill for the Braves first, MLB second, and a journalist fourth. The notion that he squashes any talk of an Escobar trade speaks directly to holding the company line regarding secrecy.
You knew Escobar was a bad “manzana” (”apple”) when he refused to play second because the pivot on a DP turn would place his left knee in danger (poor sissy). He is a prima donna playing for an organization that does not tolerate such types. Hell, even Gary Sheffield behaved himself the one year he played for the Braves, for crying out loud!
Don’t use chemo on this cancer; cut him out! Ship him off to someone who thinks they can rehab this head case. Same with Jeffy Francoeur; he doesn’t like to sit on the bench because he thinks his life is supposed to be like Parkview? Sh!t-can his a$$ and ship him off to any MLB Siberia, where he can get all the play time “widdoh Fwenchy wants”.
July 7th, 20095:12 pm
“What track record, LOL? Hey, there’s no doubt that Diaz should be starting instead of Francoeur, but let’s not get carried away. So far, Diaz’s “track record” is that he hasn’t done as well when given a regular’s appearances. Some of the swings last night to which you alluded might be the reason, ya think?”
What track record? The track record that says he is a lifetime .330 hitter in the major leagues. The track record that says he has a lifetime .802 OPS.
Oh I forgot Matt cant play because because he cant hit RH pitching right? Lets put that to rest right now shall we.
Matt Diaz against RH pitching this year -
.260 ave 787 OPS
Francouer against RH pitching –
.222 ave with a .575 OPS.
By all means we better get Jeffy back in there with his .575 OPS against right handers because Bobby says Matt can’t hit Righties.
.575 OPS? Are you freaking kidding me. I’ll take my chances with “Richard Simmons” against the righties instead of Jeffy.
“”Interesting. My one comment keeps getting blocked?”"
There is a Gawd!
O’Brien. I hate censorship and your feeble attempts at attempting to discriminate. Racism blows and so do you!
Is BL an abbreviation for Brother in law?
Anyway, I do like how everyone is throwing in the towel already and they haven’t even finished BP. Hey, sometimes a jinx works just as good as DOB’s curse.
Go Francoeur and them!
ncscoots – did I get Robert mixed up with Larry “the lounge lizard’
I thought Robert was the angry, hatred filled surgeon whereas it was Larry all along
I apologise Robert, you are just a drongo, Larry ….. you are a hateful drongo and I thank god (oops Paul Lentz will torch me for using the maker in contextx) that you DID NOT OPERATE ON MY malignant astrocytoma
(Yes Larry, better run for that medical seacrh to see what it is I am talking about, hey hero)
No one likes Coach
Interesting. My one comment keeps getting blocked? – Coach
Doesn’t that tell you something?
July 7th, 20095:13 pm
Sorry I meant .3oo lifetime hitter.
I’m glad that Larry and Paul Lentz have deemed this blog worthy of their presence. Quite frankly, we need the intellectual nourishment and edification that these two gallant men provide.
July 7th, 20095:14 pm
Who ever made fun of Claudell Washington?
Just when I feared that “My IQ is ###” might never been seen on the blog ever again, there comes a douchebag shamelessly whipping out his inflated IQ.
He’s a pimp.
That is even funnier than you thought because my full initials are BNL.
What type of person do you think Cooch reall is? Does he kick his dog when he goes home?
No one likes Coach
What about a No one likes Paul Lentz club?

These pretzels are making me thirsty
Beekay, you miss the point. All those guys you mentioned may not have been All-Stars, but I remember them, and they played the game the best they could, and they never talked garbage in the papers when they were going south (like Francoeur) or mangled the clubhouse chemistry (like Escobar).
Hell, I loved those 70’s Braves too: like Marty Perez, Mike Lum, Frank Tepedino, Chuck Goggins, Roric Harrison, Carl Morton, Adrian Devine. . .
July 7th, 20095:18 pm
You guys still watching this team?
Yeah, but…I mean, there’s some upside to that. You might have had to read three or four posts to realize he’s a numbletard, had he not given us that post. Time saved, decision made; it’s all good.
July 7th, 20095:19 pm
McFann, at this point all we can do is hope since DOB won’t play along.
Paul – we have a saying where I came from which will not be repeated on a public blog
I cannot believe you wrote what you just wrote (is that good English, anyone, anyone)
Larry……..great posting at 5:12pm. I’d much rather have Diaz bat against right handers than Jeff Francoeur.
I’m watching PTI on ESPN and they panelists were “selling” on the topic of “the Phillies running away with the NL East”. They like the Braves pitching and feel that the Braves will stay in the race.
July 7th, 20095:20 pm
So much for the “never discuss religion and politics in mixed company” axiom. . .
I have to say, I think the blog has officially lost it’s collective mind over the last two days. Between the last two blogs I have read some of the dumbest stuff ever written, not only about baseball, but also about life in general. What the hell is wrong with you people?
July 7th, 20095:21 pm
The only thing worse than reading a post by Paul Lentz is reading a post by someone who claims that they will never read another Paul Lentz post.
McLouth of the South
Don’t make me bitchslap you Shamus…
Lentz…just go away. You know nothing and bring zero to the table.
Rob from SC (Please don't trade Escobar)
July 7th, 20095:22 pm
If I were Toronto I would seriously consider any team that wants Halladay to take Vernon Wells as well. There is no way someone will take Wells on their own, and in order to compete, Toronto needs to get rid of that contract.
Tell me a Cox/Francouer Intervention spoof wouldn’t be funny. Imagine Cox sitting there holding the lineup card, hand shaking, sweating, while Francouer is sitting next to Bobby with his hand on his shoulder nodding reassuringly. Bobby’s road to recovery will not be an easy one.
When you look like me, it’s hard to get a table for one at Chuck E. Cheese.
Oh Great, Zambrano is pitching against Vazquez. Here’s hoping Javy doesn’t hang him one. The Braves against good hitting pitchers just do not fare well.
Roman Gal – 37 is not old.
July 7th, 20095:23 pm
Full moon, jersey. I know some people don’t believe in that but I’ve spent enough time in ER’s to know that people lose their damn minds 50 times more when its a full moon. More car accidents, more murders, more babies born, more domestic cases, and apparently, more internet time at the nut house.
New Jowseyyyyyyyyyyyyyy is Hell
njbraves – and on the 8th day god created the garbage dump of the world
and hundreds of thousands of years later they named it “New Jersey”
July 7th, 20095:24 pm
Yopu know what? There’s no reasoning with someone who DOESN’T believe in something, either. Fanatics on either end of the marker are equally as anal and unwilling to see another point of view.
July 7th, 20095:25 pm
“”Lentz…just go away. You know nothing and bring zero to the table.”"
Yeah! That’s MY job!!!
You guys still watching this team? – FEAR
Damn right! Every chance I get, all 27 outs …….until we’re mathematically eliminated. Been that way since ‘73 or so.
ncscoots…………I understand that you are handicapped by your ADD. It makes sense why you cant understand any posting that is longer than 2 sentences.
dogsbrekky………..I have not problem with putting myself out there. When one jumps in the water, one cant complain about “getting wet”.
Hey, njbraves: exhibit A-100 is the post @ 5:23. I guess middle school broke out in this blog.
July 7th, 20095:26 pm
wow…Jersey joke…very original..good for you little buddy.
RHR – yes the ex missus is an ER nurse and she used to go off around full moon time because of the wack jobs that do crazy things at that time…
you know … rock stars with beer bottles in unsightly places
rock stars hanging themsleves whilst getting off
yada yada yada
Skip, no wait, glance
“They like the Braves pitching and feel that the Braves will stay in the race.”
Well of course the Braves pitching will keep them in the race. It has to this point. But until the offense gets fixed (IE: new players in the lineup), or gets off their asses, nothing will change.
We had our window last week, and I suspect without major changes for the better, that 2 game defecit is as small as its going to get.
Then (as DOB kind of states), the lack of offense will take it’s toll on the pitching. So, in about 3-4 weeks, we will fall into a major tailspin. Just like last year.
Only so long that the bullpen and arms in the rotation can keep it up.
If no major moves are made, this team will finish with at least 90 losses, despite the fine pitching. With or without Vazquez.
A loss, is a loss, is a loss. Doesn’t matter if we lose 3-2 or 9-2. As Vazquez’s losing record shows. Even good pitchers can lose on bad teams, and this IS a bad team, despite the very good, all around pitching.
July 7th, 20095:27 pm
“and hundreds of thousands of years later they named it “New Jersey””
More like several billion years later
Larry – concerning your feelings for McLouth of the South
“Not that there is anything wrong with that”
July 7th, 20095:28 pm
Hey, if you’re a guy sitting in some woman’s home, and she has one of those enormously irritating little ankle-biters running around, yapping at you, and in general just making you wonder why the heck are you dating THIS wahine, what do you do?
Do you keep yelling at the dog, kicking the little sucker, and giving him the attention he’s demanding? No, you do not. You ignore that little pest, and concentrate on the wahine.
Try doing the same with The Three Stooges (Larry, Jared, and Lentz). And, by the way, they ain’t the wahine.
Piedmont Blues (ex-BFIR)
Dale Murphy’s Law,
For the most part, those ’70s and ’80s Braves were losers. Lovable losers, perhaps, but losers nonetheless. Hubbard and Oberkfell and Claudell were on a couple of decent squads, but again, the Braves didn’t exactly set the world on fire during that era.
Hey Larry, as a fellow Christian, let me be the first (or maybe I’m the 865th to do so), to tell you to STFU.
July 7th, 20095:29 pm
I play poker and get a chuckle when people pray at the poker tables for “god to help them hit their hands”, lol. I played on Sunday at the Rio Casino one Day 1C of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker. I hear a player at another table “praying to Jesus for his hand to hold up”, lol.
By the way, I survived my Day 1 with a decent stack. I play tomorrow in Day 2B. Can you guys please “pray for me” so I can make it to Day 3, lol.
forget the curveball Ricky
July 7th, 20095:30 pm
what the hell kind of lineup is that?
glad i wont be able to see this sh_tshow
A message to Frank Wren (and JS behind the curtain): DO NOT TRADE ANY OF YOUR PITCHING, NOW, OR THIS WINTER!!! TRADE ESCOBAR AND FRANCOEUR AND YOU WILL BE ALRIGHT. RID YOUR CLUBHOUSE OF THE MALINGERERS!
Dale Murphys law
There were bozos like Pascaul Perez, Willie Montanez etc that had problems, even Bob Horner. My point is that Frenchy plays hard, Kelly plays hard and while you can boo and yell at them, they still are on our team. The team that we watch every stinkin night. Some people on the blog want these guys to get hurt and call them out like they are criminals. I say if they are cut or traded than have at it but while they wear the Braves uniform rally behind them.
Am I a racist cause I hate New Jersey as a place
July 7th, 20095:31 pm
DOB – any reason given for Franceour being in the lineup? I don’t want to get into this shouting match on the blog but WOW, I can’t tell you how disappointed I was to see that.
It’s tough to root for a team when you don’t even feel they’re putting the best 8 out there every night.
18 Wheels of Love – you left out SCROLL DOWN several times
July 7th, 20095:32 pm
Paul Lentz – there, now we are talking……………poker
Jeff Lissandro is a good pal of mine from Perth.
My mum tells me he won 3 events at WSOP 2009. Guy is the Pujols os pro poker……….
You’re a Stateist
I know we all can’t stand Jeff, but he sat out three games and they lost anyway.
Paul (5:16 post)
The comment, “Yet on the West Coast, many gays go to church…” is about as vague an argument as I have ever seen. But you’re right and that’s why I’m an East Coast gay, you won’t catch me hangin’ with those religious queers on the West Sieeed!
July 7th, 20095:33 pm
“cooking dinner” huh? I see how it is…
Sorry Larry, Paul has no right to discuss his political (or religious) beliefs on this BASEBALL blog. Please don’t give me any first amendment garbage, either. He has a right to be a “MORON” and to share his “MORONIC” beliefs elsewhere, just not on this BASEBALL blog.
July 7th, 20095:34 pm
Right on, P-Blues. My buddy in math class and I were berzerker Braves’ fans. Yeah, we made Rick Matula ERA jokes during Geometry, but we loved losing with the Braves more than winning with any other team in the world.
Them was the days, m’boy.
July 7th, 20095:35 pm
Article on MLB.com that the Toronto GM would at least listen if someone wanted to dangle a trade offer for Halladay. Braves need to offer Francoeur/Vazquez/Anderson/Schafer/one or two more for Halladay and Lind. Braves could put Lind in LF, McLouth in CF and Diaz in RF. Would at least add some power in OF with Lind.
I don’t have a problem wit praying in sports. If that makes a particular athlete feel better, fine by me.
But I’ve always been confused by the fact that so many champions or athletes with success thank god, etc…
Yet those same athletes don’t blame god when they fail? Why is that?
Like Bobby Cox, shouldn’t it go both ways? LOL!
That is as far as I’ll take religion on the blog as it pertains to athletes. Anything beyond, don’t bother replying because I won’t respond.
July 7th, 20095:36 pm
Am I a racist cause I hate New Jersey as a place – dogsbrekky
Dunno…..am I one for hatin’ thugs?
37 is not old.
37 may not be old, but Chipper is old and fragile.
Fillies Feeling Frightfully Philharmonic
OUR pitching sucks but is statistically proven to work when our avergae offense gets OPS >>> 800
The sad Braves brothers put so much pressure on ALL their pitching that even when they have an okay outing (JJ last night) it looks so much worse because the offense is full of piddly lil biatches…
Paul Lentz – there is a god, apparently downunder they believe he played Australian Football for a team called Geelong see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Ablett
dogsbrekky……….Jeff Lisandro is simply on a roll. I played in a few of the other bracelet events and it seems like he makes a deep run in most of the tournaments he plays in. There are a lot of celebrities who played in the Main Event.
Yesterday, Jordon Farmar, point guard for the Los Angeles, survived yesterday to make it to Day 2B tomorrow. Jason Alexander from Seinfield, is playing today in Day 2A.
July 7th, 20095:37 pm
Francoeur sat for three games and we lost them all. I tell you, it’s the curse of the Turkey Shorts. Trade Francoeur and we’re doomed. Besides, he performs an important function- He diverts bloggers’ attention from all the other players.
July 7th, 20095:38 pm
I’d say 37 is old for baseball, especially a 3B. Unless of course if you throw a knuckleball. In that case, 47 isn’t even that old.
July 7th, 20095:39 pm
So long as the Braves are still treading water while remaining within striking distance of first place we’ll have to endure posts about the First Amendment by people who have no idea what it means … and talk about religion.
Are you ready for some football?
CBF – you’ll understand in a moment – forgive the spelling of California
July 7th, 20095:41 pm
N8……….I agree with your posting about never hearing an athlete blame god for losing. For once, I would LOVE to hear an athlete who lost a championship or is going through a slump say, “Screw you god……I work hard, practice, prepare myself, pray, give you glory……..and THIS is what I get in return?”.
Beekay, it’s a game to us, and I wish no harm on anyone, especially after what happened to Steve McNair. Yet, Montañez was an eccentric and Pascual is still riding in circles on the 95 beltway; they’re still better pros than Francoeur and (especially) Escobar.
I love the Braves because they’ve acted right for the most part since 1991 – and even before; it’s a class organization. I am proud to be a Braves fan exactly because we don’t tolerate the likes of Francoeur and Escobar. We are not the Raiders, or hell, the Yankees for that matter. I’d rather lose with class than win with a zoo-ful of reprobates and knuckle-draggers who diminish your city by mere association.
Is your real name Paul Lentz? I know some people like to make up first and last names. Contrary to what some may think, my given name isn’t Chop Chop.
Hey Lew, ya think Frenchy could simply lone his Turkey panties to someone else to wear?
July 7th, 20095:42 pm
Paul Lentz – yes Lissandro has been on “a roll” as you call it for 10 years where he has earned more than a millsky each year as a cash game player
I know many of the “name pro” poker players having lived between NY and Vegas for many years….
In the case of Jeff, you have the bonafide thing
then again tournies rely on a lot of luck and stat variance
La Jolla Dawg
I hope this blog doesn’t serve as a jinx when the Braves do arrive here in early August. I have my tickets and look forward to the winning ways (against the Padres) continuing.
July 7th, 20095:43 pm
I have to admit, I would love to see that as well!
That’s pretty much right. P.S. Acquiring Patterson’s solo record right now.
July 7th, 20095:44 pm
Well McCann actually dominates Zambrano, so this could be a good break for the Bravos. He probably would have sat in the afternoon game tomorrow.
Paul Lentz you sir are very weird. You made a statement that the world would be better without religion. You do know that it was becuase of freedom of religion that we even settled here in the United States. Duh… Maybe you would have been more pleased if we had stayed in bondage.
Liberty or Tierany. As Mark Levin says…you decide.
anyways, on to the braves. Frank Wren said he didnt see any significant change in the pay roll.
That means we wont be making any moves. So much for this year. We might need to just watch the food channell…
An “S”? Really? I am wounded!
Nice lineup, Douche Cox. How do you cave to Frenchy’s little temper tantrum yesterday? That’s the kind of “leadership” that has the Braves in 4th place in the NL Least.
Diaz is in a 13 for 25, but Frenchy’s infield single last night made him 1 for his last 9, time to get his “hot hand” back in the batting order! The Cubs should do the right thing and spot the Braves 2 runs to compensate for their mentally handicapped manager.
July 7th, 20095:45 pm
DOB, just a day off for chipper right?…no injury i hope
Can David Ross play 1st base? He really needs to be able to.
Put Frenchy back in the lineup. He’s probably so p*ssed that he may actually hit the ball.
Someone needs to tell Chipper & B-Mac that they’re a huge part of the Braves problem lately.
I don’t get the Braves on TV here in Baton Rouge, do the Braves have any cute 18+ year old ball girls?
Are you Braves bloggers going to be jealous of me when football starts?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
