Steve… I’d love to see a guy like Alexei Ramirez at SS instead of Escobar. Granted Yunel has started to come around lately and seems to be behaving somewhat better. So as long as he keeps his nose clean and doesnt whine and pout like that fool Francoeur then keep him around. I just hate guys that aren’t team guys. They kill me. Yunel and Frenchy have acted so spoiled. At least Yunel can back it up with the bat though.
Ever since he got broke off from his contract year, Soriano has been garbage…! he looked like Loaf on that last play. he just gave up on that foul ball….I’m glad we didn’t get him!
Take your Escobar trade comments elsewhere. Escobar will grow up. Cuba is so different from the United States. At least Escobar is a great baseball player.
Tomahawkin…………it isnt that Infante is going to save the offense. It’s the fact that he can hit…combined with the fact that Bobby will hopefully insert him in right field (taking Francoeur’s rally killing bat out of the line-up permanently). A positive added to the line-up, a negative taken out. That can only help the Braves offense.
Bruce Chen pitched for KC tonight. Got knocked around. 7 ER n 4.66 innings, 5 walks, gave up 3 bombs. Season ERA 6.88. I was shocked when I found out that he was still in baseball…probably not for long.
Steve… I’d love to see a guy like Alexei Ramirez at SS instead of Escobar.
You gotta be jackin’ me, right? Ramirez is a below-average hitter. Yunel, on the other hand–really good for a SS. Got a great glove too. Did you know Yunel is the 5th-best offensive SS in the majors? What does Ramirez have that Yunel doesn’t?
If you can have your (Please don’t trade Escobar) crap on your name then I can certainly have my opinion on mine. I’ve eased up on him a little since he’s finally started playing with his head and quit running his mouth. I’ve moved onto to that idiot Francoeur now. Just dont like guys who run their mouths without cause… Sound familiar?
You have to realize that Cuban baseball is all about entertaining the fans. It is hard to get rid of 20 plus years of duing it ine way. He will grow up. Francoeur on the other hand needs a reality check.
Chris, what do they say? Don’t tell me Glavine/Smoltz thing because everybody knows Glavine wasn’t wanted by ANY team after he was let go and Smoltz… have ya seen him pitch lately? Could it be the Furcal, Burnett, Peavy deals that didn’t pan out? Check out those three guys numbers this year and we should all be glad they’re not Braves. I’d say Vazquez/Lowe/JJ/McLouth/ have all worked out so far. What are they saying?
Paul Lentz,
I seem to remember you being on here a couple of weeks ago talking about how you were not afraid to use your real name on the blog. Now that someone called you out on your made up WSOP story, all of a sudden Paul Lentz is a screen name! LOL!!
Mitchell, it isn’t so bad if Frenchy strikes out looking: at least he saw 3 or more pitches. It’s his first or second pitch swing at balls off the plate for weak out in rf!
I’ve eased up on him a little since he’s finally started playing with his head and quit running his mouth. I’ve moved onto to that idiot Francoeur now. Just dont like guys who run their mouths without cause… Sound familiar?
Irony abounds.
JMan, how about you start blogging with your head, and quit running your mouth until you do? At least, Escobar is good at playing. You at blogging? Not so much.
I hope the Braves have made a deal by the time I see them against the Dodgers at the end of the month in Atlanta. If not we are in for what the Mets are going through tonite.
I think Infante’s biggest asset, is that he can give guys days off, and we don’t lose a ton offensively. Especially with the lack of power Chipper’s been showing this year.
He can spell McLouth in CF. He could spell (or replace) Jeff as the RH half of a platoon in RF (better arm than Diaz), he can spell Escobar, he can spell Prado or KJ, he can spell Anderson in LF.
Only two guys he doesn’t give much help to in terms of a break, is Kotchman (which Prado can provide), and McCann.
Infante is not the save all to the lineup because of his big numbers he would put up. He is the save all for the lineup, because his versatility can give the big guns days off so THEY can save our offense.
If the Braves are still in it by September. It could be a big month. The Braves play 18 of 27 games against division rivals. They play 11 this month and 13 the next. The Braves are still in this division race. During those games, we play the Philles 9 more times, the Marlins 13 times, and the Mets 13 more times. We are currently 16-12 against our division rivals. We need to improve this but we still have a shot.
You have to realize that Cuban baseball is all about entertaining the fans. It is hard to get rid of 20 plus years of duing it ine way.
I appreciate what you’re trying to do for Yunel, but can you can it with the Cuban excuse already? That ain’t it. It’s a Yunel thing, not a Cuban thing. I’m cool with Yunel being Yunel, but not cool with the Cubans being Cubans thing.

Tomahawk Talk………I agree, the Braves are still in this race. Lots more baseball to play. Winning this game will put us 4 back.
I like Bobby’s move of leaving Vazquez in the game. We need him to get through the bottom of the 7th. Both Soriano and Gonzalez have had the past couple of days off. They should be strong for the 8th and 9th innings. Vazquez has shown that he is strong enough to throw 110-120 pitches in a game.
The Braves do not need the Matt Gamel/Corey Hart combo package. They need Vasquez. Don’t get too over confident with JJ, Hudson and Hanson.
Vasquez can flat out pitch. Also, Yunel can flat out pick them at shortstop. If anything, Wren needs to put the untochable tag on both of these guys. Ask the Cubbies.

“Corey Hart would be our 2nd most productive OF after Nate and hits right-handed.”Goodoleboy
First of all, you’re wrong. He’s BARELY better than Loaf and Jeff. As far as I’m concerned, he’s NOT better than Loaf, because he’s had about 100 more PA’s than him. And he’s NOT better than Diaz.
Hart: 329 PA, 9 HR, 35 RBI, .249/.320/.420/.740
Jeff: 312 PA, 5 HR, 35 RBI, .247/.280/.342/.622
Loaf: 223 PA, 5 HR, 30 RBI, .279/.305/.419/.714
Best case scenario, he’s a better platoon partner with Load, and Diaz should play everyday.
Diaz: 171 PA, 4 HR, 22 RBI, .311/.382/.477/.859
Why would we trade for Cory Hart, when we’ve already got Diaz’s bat on our team, which is likely better? Jeff can come in for late inning defense.
Hmm…each team is allowed 7 players in AFL (one A-ball player)…I figure Heyward, Freeman, Johnson, Rohrbough, and Cordier will be there. Perhaps Hoover will be our A-baller? Don’t leave too many slots for Diamond…
You know what I do like about Loaf’s defense? I love and respect the fact that he usually uses two hands when catching the ball. To many show offs that the young kids emulate.

I still feel like there isn’t enough being said about Paul Lentz lying about being in the WSOP. I don’t know if I should laugh or feel sorry for him.

Watching this team all year, I just don’t think one bat will make that much of a difference. We have no power at all.

“Corey Hart would be our 2nd most productive OF after Nate and hits right-handed.” Goodoleboy

Hey, you guys wanna know why this isn’t like a playoff game?
Because if it were a playoff game Wrigley Field would be empty. They would have all left after the opposing team took a lead.

“HOW ARE YOU 5-7 WHEN YOUR ERA IS 2.97?????????????????/// ”
Remember when Nolan Ryan led the NL in ERA in 1987 and went 8-16?

You know what I do like about Loaf’s defense? I love and respect the fact that he usually uses two hands when catching the ball. To many show offs that the young kids emulate.
Now if he could just cover more ground….

Because of injuries I don’t see them putting Rohrbough, and Cordier in the AFL.
